The Second Kidnapping
Okay, so we are now heading into chapter 9 ladies and gentlemen! After RDJ, Monifa and Tomada found the first key. They will now be on their way back to the church to find their friends to discuss the next phase of the plan! But…as you can imagine, not all things go down that smoothly when it comes to the samba club team! Want to find out what I mean? Then let's get right to it, shall we?
15 Minutes After Leaving The Burial Chamber…
The early hours of the morning were approaching here in the beautiful country of Mexico. And you could see a tiny little glimpse of the orange sun. As it made its slow ascent into the sky.
Straight out into the city our three feathery friends flew, as they finally retrieved the very first key of Jair that RDJ had been searching for.
Monifa was extremely excited to have gone on her first adventure with her mentor, and was already learning so much from him in a short amount of time.
She flew ahead of them and analysed the surroundings around them, noticing the many guards who have passed right by with their groups. Indicating that this was a really dangerous zone to be in right now.
But due to the fact that they flew close to shadows and right out of sight, they luckily weren't spotted by any of The Remainders. In turn making their journey back a whole lot easier than they would have anticipated.
"Mentor, is everything alright? You've been pretty silent since we left the hidden tomb?" The grey African macaw female asked her master, trying not to let her guard down for a second.
RDJ however didn't reply to her question…because he was in deep thought after what happened back there in the lower depths of that cave. Which he particularly didn't really want to mention anything about it.
Who was that voice that he heard in his head?
Why did they sound terrified?
What did any of that have to do with the key? That, he couldn't quite figure that out at this time.
"MENTOR!" Monifa shouted at the top of her lungs after not hearing a response from him, and he instantly shook his head and faced her to not seem like he wasn't paying attention to her.
"Sorry, what?" RDJ asked after finally regaining his focus. "Did you say something?"
"You've been silent ever since we left the burial chamber? Is everything alright?" The female asked in concern, as he just flew with his head completely clouded with thoughts.
"Sorry my young student…it's just…I heard a voice? In my head back in that cave. But…I can't recognise who the voice belonged to? It was almost as if…it felt like it happened for real? It doesn't make any sense?" RDJ replied with so much confusion in his voice. "Surely there must have been something that I didn't know? Especially since the voice mentioned my father's name?"
"What did this voice say?" Tomada asked the next question, as he flew alongside his close friend.
"She spoke my father's name if you were paying attention buddy! But…it almost sounded like she was close to him. She said something about, not wanting to lose him?"
"It could be like a best friend of his?" Monifa suggested, as they were heading closer towards the church.
"No, it couldn't be. She sounded like she was in love with him? But it wasn't my mother! I know what my mother's voice sounded like. And it wasn't her voice, I'm sure of it!" He was so adamant that he hadn't known who that female's voice belonged to, but he was more and more intrigued to find out more about this mystery female. "But I want to find out more!"
"Well, I can see the church from here! I think we can figure out who this bird was when we get inside the…" Tomada was just about to finish his sentence, but just when he was about to do it. He saw something on the roof of the church, which caused him to feel completely terrified for his friend's safety. "Shit…what the fuck happened to them?!"
Monifa and RDJ followed his gaze, and pretty soon they recognised what he was going on about. And it wasn't something that they were quite expecting!
On the roof of the ancient house of God, Alex and Jameson were currently being treated by Jaime and Jacqueline for some minor injuries. But for some weird reason, Jacqueline was in a jet stream of tears while holding wings with Alex, crying into his shoulder. But he didn't mind, as he knew how upset she was.
The blue and gold macaw male instantly sighed in annoyance, and was inches away from his friends and wife. But he didn't really give them a chance to think about what happened there. As he spoke to them in such an annoyed manner, that it was enough to make them a bit too nervous to mention anything to him.
"What the bloody hell happened here?!" RDJ shouted in a demanding manner as he landed on the roof next to Alex. Holding him up by pushing his wing up on his back to sit him up straight. "Alex! What happened here?!"
"The Remainders…Cough! Cough!…They attacked us before we got back here! Luckily they didn't manage to find our hideout." He wheezed in agony, as he was being treated for burn marks on his abdomen. "One of them threw a Molotov at the wall, and some of the flames managed to set my feathers alight, but luckily we managed to get away!"
"Holy shit…Wait…" The blue and gold male began counting all of the birds that were on the roof, as well as counting Lila, Keith, Allie, Fernando and Andy who were watching from the inside. With Raul just sitting on top of the bell tower. One of them was missing. "Hold on…where the fucking hell is Roberto?!"
"They took him! The Remainders kidnapped him!" Jacqueline cried out in agony, as she couldn't stop the tears from falling. "My husband! My darling! They took h-h-him from me!"
RDJ clenched both his wings into tight fists, and he felt his beak curling into a very enraged growl. Before he stomped on the roof roughly, which took everybody by surprise.
"Shit! This is EXACTLY why I didn't want ANY of you on this trip!" RDJ angrily spat as he felt so agitated about this. "I warned all of you back home in Rio that this will be a dangerous task! But guess what?! Nobody listened to a bloody word I said!"
"Gee…I wonder how that feels like?" Lila sarcastically spoke, crossing her wings while looking at him.
But just as he was about to respond to her, Jaime managed to beat him to it…for now.
"THIS IS NOT THE TIME FOR STUPID REMARKS!" Jaime shouted in frustration, sick of hearing all of the arguments between those two.
(I don't understand how they found us? We were super careful!)
Devil Darkness mentioned as Jameson too had to defend themselves.
"But RDJ? We didn't know that they would attack us?" Jameson spoke up as he wiped the sweat from his forehead. "We thought that we would get away with it cleanly?"
"THIS IS FUCKING MEXICO! I told all of you not to follow me! Now, things have got rather complicated now!" The head of the assassins continued to rant and rave about the situation. Not really feeling like talking about anything else right now. "GOD FUCKING DAMNIT! WHY DO I EVEN BOTHER WITH THIS SHIT?!"
But just as he continued to lose his temper, that didn't stop a very upset blue spix's macaw female, from telling him how she feels about the way he is acting about it.
"Why?! Does it distract you from your many many important goals in your life?!" Lila stormed up to her husband with that same angry glare as before. Which could in return start another argument. Making it their second huge argument in one day. "Don't be such an arrogant bird! They couldn't help being attacked! Not that you would understand empathy anyway!"
"I just wanted to do this job nice and quickly! Now I have to save his life!" He narrowed his eyes towards her, but this only made her angrier. "Then you would be going home with me and see our children again! And we all live the rest of our life in peace and harmony!"
"Oooooh that is soooo true! I am sooo sorry that saving your friend is such a chore for you! You lazy bastard!" She insulted him rudely, as her voice started to get a little louder.
Everyone around them just looked away uncomfortably, because they couldn't bare to watch this argument after the one they had a few hours ago.
"LAZY?! I am out there busting my fucking ass off to get things done, while you sit here on your FAT ass and do NOTHING about it! Who's really the lazy one here?!" He emphasised in frustration. As he felt the blood in his body getting hotter and hotter.
Lila gasped in horror when hearing this comment. Her heart literally hurt so much by what he just said. And it felt like it was sinking inside of her. Causing her eyes to water and her beak to start quivering.
"FAT ASS?! HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT TO ME!" Lila screamed back in response, and slapped her husband across the face really hard in anger, and then she quickly flew away back into the church in a full stream of tears. As her husband just grumbled irritably, rubbing his sore cheek.
"Grrrrrr! Jameson! Get Devil Darkness to take over! Monifa, Fernando, you're with me! Keith, Andy! You stay here! Let's get Roberto back before Lila has a heart attack!" RDJ angrily growled and flapped his wings vigorously to get away from the situation. "Or before she probably starts boning my brother!"
"FUCK YOU RDJ!" Lila cursed in sadness again, as she continued to run into the church with tears streaming down her face.
Jameson immediately closed his eyes and allowed Devil Darkness to take over his body, as his feathers turned a darker black and his eyes turned red. Before he began flying after the head of the assassins.
Fernando and Monifa sighed heavily in defeat, before turning towards Jaime. Who was wincing in pain from a gash on his right talon.
"Are you okay Jaime?" The military macaw male asked his good friend, who only nodded his head slowly.
"I would be better without all the bloody arguments! Those two are supposed to be in love!" Jaime replied sadly, closing his eyes to fight through the pain.
"Fernando…I am sensing a bit of déjà vu here! But I don't really want to talk about why that is the case!" The grey African macaw female sadly spoke, as she turned to face him with a saddened look. "I feel like RDJ and Lila can work it out. But they are choosing to blame each other for issues that they can clearly talk about?"
The military male only sighed and nodded his head in response, as he patted her on the back in a friendly manner. "Unfortunately…he's got too much of his father in him…believe me…I know." He whispered the last part to himself, thinking that she didn't hear him say it.
"What?" She rose her eyebrow in curiosity, thinking that she definitely heard him say something.
"Nothing…let's just do as we are told! He is our mentor after all!" Fernando spoke, while shrugging his shoulders.
Both of them nodded at each other and flapped their wings to regroup with their mentor.
But just as they were flying away…Jacqueline was now even more concerned. Not just for her husband, but also because of her best friend.
"In RDJ's defence, she was the one who started the argument and called him a lazy bastard?" Raul spoke up in a low tone of voice, as he landed besides the blue female. "That would probably have pissed me off if someone said something like…I'm ugly?"
"It's not just that Raul. I've heard the way Lila spoke like that before when she was being bullied at a young age." The blue spix's macaw female replied as she continued to wipe away her tears. "I think she felt like her husband was bullying her?"
"What?! I gotta kinda agree with Raul Jacqui. She called him lazy? If anything she is just as bad as him!" Alex remarked as he felt the pain slowly getting better.
"That's the problem Alex…If both of them continue to argue like this…This will not end well for either of them…or worse, their children…"
Let's Head Back To RDJ…
RDJ continued to zoom ahead of the others at a really fast speed. Where he was getting all this energy from he didn't even know. But he couldn't get the thought of the argument with Lila out of his head.
"Lazy…Pfft! I'm the lazy one?! Yeah, I got all these muscles and abs from sitting on my ass all day! She doesn't know what she's fucking talking about…females! Can't live with em' period!" The blue and gold male shook his head a couple of times. As he approached some kind of factory in the centre of the city centre.
The blue and gold male landed on what appeared to be a huge billboard of a guy drinking Coca Cola. As he focused his gaze at the front door.
A group of birds lead by the blue throated macaw from the market, were seen dragging a clearly inured Roberto into the factory front doors. Slamming the door shut afterwards.
"Hmmmm…so that's where you took him? Very clever!" He spoke to nobody in particular, as he was just about to approach the building.
"Mentor! Slow down! We can barely keep up with you!" Monifa called out as she finally caught up to him, landing besides her mentor safely. With Devil Darkness and Fernando landing besides her.
"That's your problem if you're too slow! Now come along! We are heading into there!"
He pointed out his wing at a large industrial factory, that looked like it was abandoned by humans many years ago as it was clearly half destroyed.
But as for now there were many guards guarding the factory from the outside, so who knows how many there were going to be on the inside.
The alley around the back had a lot of carriages and horses. With some more of the remainders guarding them heavily from the top of them.
RDJ continued to be filled with this huge rage in his heart, as he shook his wings which were trembling by the fact his blood was boiling. And Monifa noticed this, and decided to try and ease his frustrations.
"Mentor…maybe you should wait here and let me and the others rescue Roberto?" Monifa suggested in a kind voice, as she placed a wing on his shoulder to try and calm him down. But unfortunately for her, this didn't work at all.
"Why?! You believe I'm too old?! That I'm too slow! Is that it?!" He growled in anger, spitting on the floor in disgust. "I've got a better idea! You stay here, and I'm going in after him all by myself, because that's the only way things will get done around here!"
"RDJ, we are only suggesting that you need to calm down? You're too angry to do this alone!" Devil Darkness pointed out, as he agreed with Monifa. But Fernando just stayed silent…because of other reasons.
"Why are you doing this to yourself? Is it because of the argument with your…"
"You…have no fucking idea what it's like kid! To be constantly shouted at by the love of your life! Even though you've been working hard to try to make them happy!" RDJ didn't want her to mention his wife's name. Because it would distract his mind from the task at hand, or wing in their case.
"Actually…I may know…"
"YOU DON'T KID!" RDJ rose his voice again and lightly shoved her backwards. As Devil Darkness and Fernando caught her.
A couple of the guards on the ground overheard the loud voice coming from the billboard that RDJ and the others were stood on. Then they slowly rose their weapons up before taking the staircase up to avoid them of their presence.
"Listen to me RDJ! I know that you are going through some problems right now, and it's a lot of stress for you! But standing here shouting about it won't change a thing!" Monifa started to act a little annoyed herself. As she tried to stand up to him, even though she didn't raise her voice to cause any problems.
"You don't understand…" RDJ continued to grumble on, as his mind was circling with different thoughts and emotions. Even some from his past that still haunted him. So much…that he almost forgot who was talking to him.
"Then try to help me understand…"
"NO YOU WON'T UNDERSTAND ME! NOBODY EVER UNDERSTANDS ME! I HAVE SUFFERED HELL AND BACK TO BE WHERE I AM TODAY! AND I WILL NOT BE JUDGED BY THE LIKES OF YOU, TILLY!"
"Tilly?"
RDJ immediately realised what he had just said…and he felt himself slowly sink down to the floor. With his eyes widening in horror.
Did he really just mention his former teacher? Why would he randomly blurt that out?
The blue and gold macaw male ended up sliding up against the rack of the billboard, and he pulled his hood back down. As he wiped away the sweat from his head feathers.
"I…I'm sorry Monifa…I…I don't know why I just called you that…" He apologised smoothly, looking down with his eyes still wide.
Monifa looked at the other two birds who only gave her unsure glances. Then she gradually sat next to him. And began rubbing his wingtips in comfort, making him slowly look down to see her wingtips with his. As he grasped her wing in a comforting manner.
"Who was Tilly?" She asked in a sweet tone, trying to calm him down again.
RDJ sadly wiped away a couple of tears in his eyes, then gradually looked up at her caring smile. He didn't really want to explain to her all the details about his former teacher. So of course he had to tell her the most important parts.
"Tilly…she was a former teacher of mine. Back when I was a teenager, I was too arrogant, reckless, stupid! And I worked with her for almost two years! But…where she tried to be so flirty and seductive towards me. I wasn't interested in her at all, and whenever she used to mention about her liking me…all it did was remind me of the pain of my…of Shira dying! My ex girlfriend…"
"So you two were close?"
"We were! But, I didn't think anything of her at all. All I did was keep shouting at her, or being annoyed with her all the time. But now, after my argument with my wife back there…I felt that anger in my heart again…and it reminded me of Tilly. So that's why I called you Tilly." RDJ finished explaining, before pulling himself and Monifa back onto their talons. As he smiled warmly at her. "Thank you Monifa! Now…DD? Can you please take two steps to your right?" He asked the black owl male, who obeyed and stepped a couple places to the right.
"Sure! Why?" Devil Darkness replied in a curious tone.
Both guards from the ground flew up on top of the billboard, and they instantly recognised RDJ.
"SHIT! IT'S YOU! THE AS…ACKKKKKaaaaaaa…" Suddenly, RDJ shot both of them in their necks with two arrows.
But unfortunately for them…their bodies were just about to fly off of the billboard. Which would mean that their presence would be known. And then the birds in the factory would instantly get informed.
But using quick instincts…Monifa did something pretty incredible!
She immediately pulled out what looked like some kind of dart gun, and shot a blade towards both of the bodies. But what was weird about it…was the fact that a rope was attached to the dart.
The blade shot through both of them, and luckily she managed to pull the bodies back on the billboard in front of them.
As Monifa had a triumphant look on her face, she retracted her dart back and put the weapon away in her holster.
Once she spun around to face her mentor…she noticed that RDJ stood there with an impressed smile on his face.
"What?"
"What the hell is that thing?" He asked while pointing his wingtip at the dart gun in her holster.
"Oh this little thing? This is just my rope dart that I made!" She smiled proudly, as she patted it with her wing. "Now, before we get into another discussion. We better come up with a plan on how we will get inside the factory?"
"Very good point my young student!" RDJ patted her on the back once more while scanning his surroundings.
Guards were posted on every acre of this factory. Which means most of the main entrances and back doors will most likely be too dangerous to get in that way.
All of the windows were also guarded with male military macaws with spears in their wings, so no breaking and entering would be a possibility.
But that didn't stop Fernando from coming up with a suggestion. "RDJ, check the centre of the sidewalk on the far side of the street! Do you see what I see?"
The head of the assassins followed his gaze, and eventually laid his eyes upon some kind of sewer gutter. Which had no bars covering it, which could only mean one thing.
"A secret tunnel into the factory!" Fernando beamed excitedly, as he pulled his hood up over his head.
"Good eyes Fernando! Now…all we need is for someone to create a distraction! Then we can draw their attention away from the…"
BOOOOOM!
Suddenly, a small burst was heard from the pathway underneath where they were standing. And it caused our four friends all to look at each other in confusion.
"Did you throw that?!" Monifa asked Fernando who rolled his eyes in annoyance.
"No! Did you?"
"Of course I didn't! Mentor?"
"Well I didn't?! Who threw that?!" RDJ asked as he couldn't figure out what that noise was. But it did the trick, as a lot of the guards began moving away from the streets to head towards the noise. "Seriously guys…who threw that?!"
"It was me…"
RDJ immediately spun around, and saw none other than the pink macaw female Allie standing there with what appeared to be a belt with a few small cheery bombs attached to it.
"I thought I told you to stay at the church?!" RDJ spoke in irritation as he slapped his forehead.
"You can't do this alone! Plus, I had to get out of there. Lila was crying so much that it would have reminded me of the time my mother died a couple of years ago." Allie replied sadly as she wiped her eyes slightly.
"Laelette? She's dead?" RDJ widened his eyes in surprise when hearing this.
"Yes…but I don't quite want to talk about that right now! Look, I'll throw a couple of these cherry bombs through the city to lure the guards away! Then you guys can sneak through the sewers to get into the factory!"
"Mmmm, I like this girl! Definitely fiery and…so freaking sexy!" Devil Darkness replied in a creepy tone, which caused her to just roll her eyes.
"Enough flirting DD! We've got a job to do!" Fernando remarked as he nodded his head towards Allie, who nodded back and pulled a pin out of another cherry bomb. Then she threw it further down the street.
BOOOOM!
"OVER THERE!" One of the guards shouted in a loud tone. As several of his men followed where the sound came from.
Allie then flapped her wings and flew down the street above the buildings, to continue leading The Remainders away. Giving RDJ, Devil Darkness, Fernando and Monifa the perfect opportunity to get inside the sewers.
"Quick! Go! Go! Go!" RDJ ushered them away to head to their destination, as RDJ pulled his hood back over his face.
But just before Devil Darkness followed instructions, he clenched his head again. And began grumbling in irritation.
"No…it can't be?! How is…"
"DD! HURRY UP!" RDJ called out as his impatience was growing.
"Right…Right…I'm coming!" He tried to shake off his thoughts and carried on with the rest of their rescue mission. Completely unaware that they were being watched.
Meanwhile…Just A Few Metres Away…
On top of a lamppost…a male figure stood there with a hood over his head. As he watched RDJ and the others enter the sewers. But the one bird he was particularly focusing on was Jameson. Who was of course in Devil Darkness form.
"Is that him?" The bird of course was a male…and he revealed to be some kind of scarlet macaw.
(Yes! Finally after all this time! We have found him!)
For some weird reason…this male bird also had a dark voice speaking from within himself. But the fact was that this voice was more feminine.
"I don't feel comfortable with this! You know how I feel about being around other birds in social situations!"
(Oh boohoo! You're not here to make friends! But only to kill enemies!)
"Ughhh…now I suppose we will just have to wait now! Wait until we have the opportunity to attack!"
Ooooh, now isn't that interesting?! Roberto gets kidnapped by The Remainders, RDJ and Lila get into another huge fight which results in Lila getting very upset to the point of her crying a full stream of tears. Whereas RDJ just left in anger and frustration. Will these two ever get their marriage back on track? RDJ shouted at Monifa bringing up a former teacher of his! Devil Darkness once again senses that something is wrong, and not only that…we have a new character! But…they also have a voice coming from them like Jameson does with Devil Darkness! But the one thing that still doesn't make any sense…why is it that Fernando keeps comparing RDJ to his father Leandro? All to be revealed as the story goes on! See you all soon for chapter 10!
