Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Inky Hearts. Enjoy the 1200-word chapter. I don't own MHA Shonen Jump, Kohei Horikoshi and a few others do.
The explosion was what drew him in. The pack of scoundrels rushed away with stolen loot like flies from a torn carcass.
One of them was swept off his feet by a mass of black. It threw the thief to the pavement as the group turned to look over their shoulder.
The jet-black eagle like creature let out a distorted screech as it circled around them. It seemed to eye its prey like a hawk as it flew around them.
"The hell? We getting attacked by giant shadows!?" One of the thugs yelled before he pointed his handgun at it.
"Not shadows… Ink." They heard before hearing a snort as they turned to see a massive blob of said ink. "Also? 9mm rounds? Really? I would think common street thieves could afford better then that." They heard as a skull emerged from the blob of ink.
It was a rhino which snorted upon seeing the duo. The creature charged out from the blob of ink which flew back into the shadows.
The rhino smashed into their vehicle, shattering the car's windows, destroying the engine cover and throwing the vehicle to the side. They watched the vehicle twirl through the air and smashed into the ground.
They watched a figure emerge from the shadows; his left arm extended as he looked at the duo. He hummed and gazed at them.
His costume was orangish and back, covered in inky tattoos like an octopus on his lower back. The costume was helmeted which allowed the figure to look at them through white lens on the metallic mask. The orange straps on his arms and legs seemed to be filled with more of the black liquid. He had rings around his wrists and an inky circle with a star drawn in the middle of it. He also had a spider like drawing in the palm of each hand.
The hero looked through his helmet which had various drawings and neon's lines coming across it. He clicked his tongue and crossed his arms. He smiled and uncrossed his limbs a minute later, returning his limb to its outstretched position.
"Would you like to surrender or is this going to escalate to violence?" The hero questioned as he raised an eyebrow and looked at the thugs.
He wasn't aware of the pro hero and her protégé approaching. This didn't stop the hero as he looked to the side.
One of the thugs raised their handgun and unleashed the 9mm slugs the hero had talked about. The hero countered this by some of the liquid from the ring on his arm. The liquid formed into a wall of ink which paused the bullets as he sent a tendril out from the wall of ink.
It slammed into the thugs, throwing them to the ground as sirens finally caused him to make him smile. The thugs ran away before the bird like creature slammed into them before it circled around and towards him.
The hero felt the ink pool back into his costume, it knocked him to the ground with a groan.
"Ow… I hate doing that…" The hero muttered to himself while he slowly struggled to his feet.
"Oh, that's a cool quirk!" He heard as he slowly climbed to his feet. "What animals can you make!? Does it strain you so much you pass out!? Oh, how does it work?! What did you name it?! What's your hero name!?" Said hero heard shrieked at him as he blinked.
"Aquatint, I'm not entirely sure yet as that pertains to drawings and my imagination… No, I don't believe it does?" Aquatint said as he climbed to his feet and continued to answer said questions. "It allows me to manipulate drawings and ink into shapes… I tried with lead, doesn't work like that. I named it doodle I believe…. Any other questions? Oh, I did them out of order…" Aquatint and tapped his fingers together absentmindedly.
Aquatint looked around and saw a girl the same age as him. Aquatint knew exactly who the blue haired woman in the bodysuit was.
'Nejire Hado!? Why is she here!? I didn't expect one of the big three to arrive here!' Aquatint mentally roared to himself as he backpedaled.
He was quite curious as to what one of the most prestigious of students had brought to this crime site.
Then again? Aquatint had been drawn to it by the explosion which billowed smoke up and into the sky.
Nejire approached Aquatint who cracked his fingers and looked at the police officers who were busy arresting the thugs. He hummed and turned his gaze back to the light.
"I didn't expect one of U.A's heroes to show up…" Aquatint and continued to nervously poke his fingers together for a moment. "Then again? I'm one of U.A's students… So, there's that." Aquatint muttered in a lower pitch as he sighed.
Nejire bounced back and forth on the heels of her feet. She titled her head to the side and hummed.
"Oh, what grade are you? Have we met before? Do you have a hero license?" Nejire questioned and tilted her head to the side. "How much training have you done? Did you pick out an agency to join like me? Do you like working with other heroes?" Nejire asked as Aquatint's eyes moved slightly as he mentally memorized every question in the list.
"Second, no. I don't think so I have a provisional hero license last time I checked." Aquatint replied with a hum and cleared his throat. "I do it every day. My quirk takes a lot of concentration to use perfectly. I did. Of course!" Aquatint while he blinked.
The two teenage heroes looked at the crime scene and he blinked. There was just about no real reason for him to stick around and continue to be here… However? Pro hero or not? Aquatint did NOT abandon someone in need of aid. It just wasn't going to sit well with him the next day.
He hummed as he summoned the bird like monster from the walls of ink. He wondered what tomorrow would bring him with all things considered. Then again? All the little details continued. It would scare most people, but the unknown fascinated him far more then it frightened him.
He was taken from his deep thoughts by Nejire absentmindedly tapping him on the crown of his helmet. It caused his inky creation to fall apart, collapsing to the ground. The ink hit the ground, pooling between the duo's feet.
"I need to work on focusing my quirk better…" Aquatint muttered with amusement as he sighed and manipulated the ink back to him.
Author Notes
Phew. Another chapter done! I want to point out that if someone is going to point out all the grammar mistakes I need to fix? I'll gladly fix them. I also wanted to make Aquatint's quirk match his personality. Next chapter will be in 2-10 weeks and will show more of Nejire and Aquatint talking and set up a proper meeting at U.A along with his dreams and such. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
P.S: Mei is 1500 words and such.
