Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Inky Hearts. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own MHA Shonen Jump, Kohei Horikoshi and a few others do.
Aquatint tapped his fingers together. A trait of his that he had when he wasn't busy sketching. He blinked for a moment and looked at Nejire before clearing his throat.
"So, what's one of the higher-ranking pro heroes doing here?" Aquatint questioned as he looked to the side.
"Well, the smoke from the fire did seem pretty big…" Nejire stated which caused Aquatint to hum.
He wondered what happened next. Aquatint knew that the League of Villains were still out in the world. Nejire had a point about things being far more dangerous from a distance.
"Yeah… Everyone worrying about the city…" Aquatint said as he tapped on his arms absentmindedly. "Crime has been slowly building without anyone in town to keep it down… I'm glad there's going to be more heroes on the streets." Aquatint said and leaned on the car one of his drawings had overturned.
Aquatint was curious if heroes like he and Nejire were up to the challenge. All Might's retirement meant that the city didn't have its main protector anymore.
To Aquatint? It meant heroes didn't have a symbol to rally behind. He wouldn't pretend to know why All Might had made his retirement public. But he hoped the symbol of peace had a plan. The city would be a warzone sooner or later.
"I have some more questions." Nejire said as she rocked back on her heels. "What's your thoughts on All Might's retirement? Do you have plans to be a pro hero? Do you train constantly like I do? Who's your favorite teacher at school? Do you have an ultra-move?" Nejire asked Aquatint who furrowed his eyebrows for a moment.
He cleared his throat and then he straightened up.
"Sad and upset more than anything. Yes, of course I believe I told you. Every 4 hours a day. Eraser head. Working on it, you?" Aquatint responded and hummed before letting out a hum. "You know… If you wanted to ask questions? I'd make a list like I do… Of things I'd like to do…" Aquatint said before he mentally groaned.
'Smooth move, Chimon. You can come up with in detail drawings for your quirk, yet talking to another person, a girl in general, is too damned much for you?!' Chimon questioned himself mentally as Nejire merely nodded.
Aquatint looked at the ground, too embarrassed to do anything and hummed while he cracked his fingers and wondered how to get out of this. Aquatint cleared his throat, his breath fogged up his helmet for a moment.
"So, I'm guessing we're be seeing each other in classes soon?" Aquatint awkwardly questioned, trying to rip through the tension he had put in before it settled.
If Nejire was offput by the comment? She showed no sign of it. The duo turned towards the police as Aquatint turned to the side.
"Uh… See you at class!" Aquatint said and vanished into the shadows as Nejire turned back. She tilted her head and turned back to the crime scene.
(With Aquatint)
Aquatint risked another look over his shoulder and made sure that there was indeed someone who had dealt with the situation.
The hero in training sighed and brushed off his costume for a second. He ducked into an alley to change into his street clothes as he turned to look to the side.
Aquatint cursed himself for being so socially withdrawn. He knew how to memorize the smallest of details when it came down to it. He sighed and pulled off his helmet before turning it over and brushed back his blonde hair.
He took a deep breath and then pulled his helmet back on as he walked towards home. He wanted to make sure that he got home without being identified.
He however, was still captivated by his talk with Nejire. She could have easily arrested him for fighting without a more pro hero there to supervise.
Her passion for curiosity did make him smile. The ink-based hero was just wishing he could have talked without screwing himself up and stepping on his own feet.
He guessed tomorrow they'd have another mock training fight in the morning. That brought a smile to his face enough that he could train his quirk more.
"I have to be better if I'm going to be a hero." Aquatint muttered and continued on his way.
There would be more challenges for them to handle. There would be things they would have to overcome.
He'd be ready for them. There would be an army of evil ready to consume the city. There would be much more to do before he was ready for that. There would also be trials to pass before then. He smiled to himself.
Chimon vowed to be one of the army of heroes marching to meet them. He'd be damned if he wasn't going to win.
Author Notes
Phew. Another chapter done! I want to point out that next chapter will be 1500 words or such. I do want to point out I'm not going to make Chimon overpowered or such… And with Overhaul's arc? I'll make a villain for him to fight. Next chapter will show Chimon practicing his quirk and set up him bonding with Nejire and such for the Internship arc. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
