Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Inky Hearts. Enjoy the 1300-word chapter. I don't own MHA Shonen Jump, Kohei Horikoshi and a few others do.
Aquatint continued to mentally curse as he rolled backwards. He liked to consider himself skilled at plans.
'Well, now I can add vibrations as a weakness to my quirk.' Aquatint mentally stated while he hummed and looked to the side.
He had tried to send his hawk at Nejire only for her quirk to splatter it into the ground. The shockwaves her quirk also threw him backwards. The same result greeted Froppy who tried to snare Nejire's arm from behind.
"Isn't this fun!?" Nejire questioned while she flew around the room with her quirk.
'This is going as bad as the time we all fought Mirio… Can't deal with a quirk that allows you to hide… Well, hide under the ground and spring an attack.' Aquatint thought to himself as he tried to come up with a plan of attack.
The spattered ink showed him a direct attack wouldn't work well. That left trying to find a method of teamwork, sneak attacks, or an unusual tactic.
Aquatint watched Nejire knock away Mineta. He'd find some small amount of amusement in the pervert being slugged to the ground… Though he did scold himself for finding that funny… Even if his character annoyed him.
Aquatint managed to turn a small puddle of the ink blot into an arrow slowly. Aquatint sighed as the object flew up only to be easily deflected to the side.
'Ugh, her quirk allows her to throw anything we try backwards at us…' Aquatint thought to himself as he formed 2 more arrows.
Maybe he couldn't defeat her, but it did help to serve as a distraction when the others started attacks on her when it came down to it.
It did help when she continued deflecting them, allowing Froppy another chance to grab her by the arm. Froppy flicked her tongue towards the ground. It threw Nejire to the ground as Aquatint launched one of the arrows towards her.
Nejire deflected the object as Aquatint moved towards her, he reformed the bird from the ink only for Nejire to throw him backwards. He rolled along the ground and groaned in pain as the ink fell on him.
"Ow…" Aquatint muttered to himself as he started to push himself to his feet. "I think I just felt my teeth break." Aquatint said as he sighed.
He knew Nejire wasn't trying to hurt him. The pain lancing through his body, however? That told him a VERY different story, though. The shockwaves shook him to the bone and made him feel like a small train had smashed into him.
Nejire didn't spend time trying to dispatch him, however as Mineta, Froppy, and Bakugo were busy trying to attack her. Aquatint didn't know whether to be grateful, or annoyed that he was considered nothing more than small fry.
Then again? He like the others was a hero in training, provisional hero license or not. Aquatint watched Bakago attack Nejire with the same explosions his quirk always created. It didn't do much other than knock Nejire back as she twisted another explosion. Nejire placed a hand on his back and fired another shockwave which threw him across the room and into the wall.
'I REALLY don't like my chances here.' Aquatint thought to himself and sighed as he rushed Nejire again.
He sent the hawk after her once more. It let out a caw as Nejire turned towards him. This allowed Bakugo to recover, he watched the explosion creating hero throw himself at Nejire, sprouting the same obscenities and curses he usually did.
Aquatint rolled under Nejire, grabbing her left leg rather than using the moment he had to attack. Bakugo slammed into the duo and sent them skidding across the room.
Aquatint grunted and slammed into the padded wall upside down. His head shook with dizziness as he slumped to the ground.
This was enough to knock the ink controlling hero out cold. He let out one last grunt as he looked at the others who were busy grappling with the shockwave hero.
It would be another 2 or 3 minutes before someone noticed that the armor wearing hero was thoroughly passed out.
(30 minutes later)
Aquatint groaned and slowly sat up. He rubbed at his ringing skull for a moment and sighed.
'I need to get this suit better insulated to absorb impacts… Or get better at standing back up after taking an explosion to the face.' Aquatint muttered as he pulled off his soot covered helmet.
He sighed and flexed his arms. He was going to have to work far harder if he was going to work for a hero agency.
'I have a lot of training to work on, improving my quirk. My physical stats… God, I need a lot more training. If those robbers I fought before actually had more training or a combat quirk? I think I might have actually been killed right there.' Aquatint thought to himself while he groaned.
He turned the helmet over, looking into the lenses on it. The ink wielding hero had designed said costume to carry enough ink and drawings to aid him in fight. He remembered Nejire asking if he had the ability to manipulate other drawings. He wondered if it was possible to control lead for example… However? There would always be drawbacks.
One was him currently putting stock into analyzing every single detail of everything he saw. He couldn't help it; he was constantly curious and wondering about the next detail of life to begin with.
Aquatint wondered what would come next. He hadn't expected to beat Nejire… But he did learn valuable info like how well his quirk worked against vibration quirks.
It was something that he took to heart when it came down to it. He smiled a lot despite his pains he felt in his skull.
"Well, I'm going to have a lot to tell the support staff…" Aquatint said while rubbing at his temples. He crossed his legs under him.
The ink themed hero saw a poster for the various hero agencies whom UA wanted its students to be part of. Aquatint hadn't come close to figuring out which hero agency he wanted to be part of.
Wasn't like he had much reason to decide yet. It wasn't until several more weeks when they'd have to make the choice.
"Ow…" Aquatint muttered to himself as he rubbed at the nape of his neck. "I really got to be more careful…" Aquatint muttered to himself while continuing to think.
Aquatint had enjoyed the training he had… Even if it ended with him getting smashed into the wall as hard as humanly possible.
He looked over to see several other students had been injured. Aquatint winced slightly and focused on his quirk.
The tubes upon his arms splat out a small sphere of ink into his hands. He slowly molded it into the familiar eagle form he had usually employed.
It cawed to him as Aquatint tilted his head and ran a finger over the artificial bird's head.
He knew he'd bump into Nejire again. The girl was quite curious about him and the other students. People like Bakugo found her to be annoying.
He? He found her quite amusing and interesting… And hoped to meet her again soon.
