Taking The Bait
Okay my friends, I'm trying very hard to get this story flowing whilst recovering. So bare that in mind if the updates aren't as quicker as usual! In this chapter our friends have fled into the city to help out the birds they met! But while they were away, Fred saw an opportunity to talk to Lila whilst she was alone! Why is all of this happening? You'll have to wait and see…Let's get to it!
We Start With Keith…
"Ughhhhh…my head!" A muffled grumbling noise was heard from the inside of the main study hall. As our muscular barn owl friend had awoken from his momentarily unconsciousness. He rubbed his head in pain, and looked around to see that there was nobody there. "Huh? Guys? Monifa? Mentor?!"
He flew up into the bell tower to also notice that neither Aiden or Allie were present in the room. Making his suspicions grow as he thought he was just left there alone.
"Greaaat! Leave me here alone unconscious, whilst you all head out to your little mission! Assholes…" Keith sighed heavily in defeat and went to fly onto the roof to get some much needed fresh air. But Lila came flying in and almost crashed straight into him, before he even made it outside. "Woaah there Lila! What's the hurry?"
"I don't wanna talk right now Keith! I'm very angry at my husband!" The blue female growled as she got a rag and soaked it in some cold water. Before wrapping it tightly around her foot.
"You're hurt…let me see…"
"Take one step more and I will scream!" Lila warned him with a venomous growl, before huffing and turning away from where he stood.
"What's going on between you two now? One minute you two were gonna do it, the next you hate him? Are you okay?" The barn owl approached her, but wasn't expecting her to burst into tears.
"Sniff…H-H-He LIED to me…AGAIN! Said that he p-p-planned the birthday thing for me himself! When he really did forget! WHY DOES HE KEEP LYING TO HIS OWN FUCKING WIFE?!" Lila cursed and threw a brick at a wall, creating a huge hole in the wall.
"Wow…good throw."
"IS THIS ALL A BIG JOKE TO YOU?!" The purple eyed female raised her voice even more, and pointed her wingtip at him. "Did you know about this?"
"Ummmm…" Keith twiddled his wingtips anxiously…but that was the wrong way to respond.
"YOU DID KNOW! WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?!"
"Hey! I saw how happy you two were? I didn't want to ruin what you two were already trying to fix?" Keith took a couple of steps backwards. As tension in the air was rapidly increasing.
"Fixing a marriage is based on trust! And I've just realised now that I can't even trust my own husband! Well you know what? I…I…I'm gonna look for that asshole and give him a piece of my mind!" Lila growled and tightened her wings into fists as she headed for the exit.
"You…You can't just leave here?! Who will watch over the church?"
"You're strong! Do it yourself!" Lila screeched, and without any other words spoken…she roughly flapped her wings and shot out of the church.
"Oh god…Now I'm all alone again…" Keith grumbled to himself, as he did some stretched to prepare a small workout routine.
Let's Head Over To Aiden And Allie…
Our beloved new couple Aiden and Allie were still following the yellow macaw male who was leading them to The Pyramid Of The Sun. But they were still very unsure about wether they were being lured into a trap or not.
"Honey…I-I-I don't like this…I'm scared!" Allie stuttered anxiously whilst flying behind her boyfriend.
"Don't worry Allie. I won't let anyone hurt you, I promise!" The scarlet macaw male replied confidently. As he remained calm and focused to avoid letting his guard down no matter what.
"Come on you two! Just over this hill!" The male called back as he swooped down over the hills in front of him…but the weird thing was that he looked like he was doing it rather quickly.
Suddenly the whole atmosphere became fairly quiet for a few moments…no talking…no wind…silence. The pink female felt as if eyes were on her as they flew over this silent hill…and all she wanted to do was just turn around, and fly back to the church.
"Ummm Aiden? I think we should turn back…" The pink female noticed something in the corner of her eye. Which appeared to be a a shadow of a figure hiding in the cracks of a building. "I think we are being watched…"
"What do you see?" He asked her in curiosity…but then he noticed the same thing, as there was a figure of a bird hiding behind the buildings with what appeared to be large spears. And he just wanted to avoid a fight at this stage, because he didn't have Devine there to help him deal with his enemies. "Okay…let's just quickly turn around and…"
"ATTACK!"
Suddenly, an entire group of The Remainders showed up from all directions around them and began flying straight towards them with a thunderous roar.
Causing the scarlet male to do the only thing he thought was right in this situation. "ALLIE! HOVER BEHIND ME!" He called out in defence as she quickly obeyed and stayed behind him.
He pulled out his shotgun and shot two of the attackers at once with one bullet, creating a small gap for them to make a quick escape.
"AMBUSH! QUICK ALLIE! LET'S GET OUT OF HERE!" Aiden ushered his girlfriend away in a hurry, whilst he shot another two incoming attackers who tried to get them from behind.
"HONEY! BEHIND YOU!" Allie screamed in terror, as a bird with a crossbow aimed it at Aiden's head.
But luckily for him he managed to dodge quickly and throw a throwing knife at him. Hitting him straight on the forehead, killing his instantly.
The two of them burst through the small gap and made a fly for it to get out of there as fast as they possibly could. But that didn't stop them from chasing them down.
"You can fly…but you can't hide!" The yellow male who lead them there spoke in a dark and sadistic tone. As he turned towards his men. "Remember…don't actually kill them. We just want to chase them back to their base. Got it?"
"Yeah but…The Destroyer wanted us to kill them and take the blue girl?" One of his men replied as he cocked his head sideways.
"No…The Destroyer had his…own plan in mind. Just do as I say…We can't let that weak tango club beat us!"
"Actually it's samba sir…"
"And I don't give a rats ass! Just do as your fucking told! MOVE IT!"
Now Let's Check In On RDJ…
"Raul? Where are you taking is exactly? The market is back that way?" RDJ pointed out that they were heading in the wrong direction. But he didn't assume anything strange about it because it was his girlfriend in trouble.
"I meant the market stool in the middle of the city centre! There are loads of market stools in Mexico!" Raul chuckled as he continued to take the lead…but something was a bit off about the way he said it…which in turn caused Alex to be a bit suspicious.
"So…ummm…Raul…What's your girlfriend's name?" The snowy owl male asked him in a curious tone, flying alongside his mentor.
"Oh…Christine! Yes…Beautiful name is it not?" He quickly answered, as he just kept his eyes on the horizon.
"And…you stayed with her the last couple of days?" Tomada joined in on the questioning, matching Alex's suspicions.
"Yes! She was very nice to let me stay with her!" The scarlet male began to twitch a little in his left eye…and the only bird flying on his left was Jacqueline.
"And ummm…Where did you meet her?" The blue female edged a little closer to him…as did Tomada and Alex.
"I…ughhh…met…her in…ummmmm…"
"I KNEW IT!" Alex immediately grabbed Raul by his tail feathers and whacked him on the top of his head with the nunchucks he carried in mid air.
This caused him to plummet straight down to the ground at a vigorous speed, landing on a pile of trash bags that luckily managed to break his fall.
"Ouch…that hurt a lot…" He winced in pain, and struggled to get up.
"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!" RDJ growled at his associate, who didn't even answer him. He just followed Raul down to the ground, and landed a few feet in front of him with his nunchucks at the ready.
Everyone else just followed them to stay together, but mostly because they wanted to try and stop RDJ from tearing into Alex for beating the poor kid.
The scarlet male was crawling on his wings to get out of the stench that surrounded him. Coughing and gagging on the smell, as he felt like he was going to vomit.
"Ewwww! I stink like a rotten turnip!" Raul coughed, as he just stood up on his talons and brushed himself off.
"DID I SAY YOU CAN GET UP?!" The snowy owl snapped at him, and whacked him on his talon to knock him back down onto the sandy surface. Which RDJ of course hated standing on as it is. "SPEAK YOU WORM! TELL ME WHY YOU LURED US AWAY LIKE THIS?!"
"I…don't know…what you're talking…OOOF!" He didn't get to finish his sentence, because Andy kicked him in the stomach to knock the wind out of him. "Haaaa…p-p-please stop!"
"EVERYONE STAND DOWN!" RDJ ordered his group…but nobody listened to him.
Tomada then pinned him down with his razor sharp talon, and pointed his talon gauntlet at his chest. "Tell us why you lured us away from the church?! TELL US!"
"I'm not talking! You can't make me talk!" The scarlet male spat in Tomada's face, making him growl at him in rage.
"Oh we'll just see about that won't we?" The peregrine falcon sadistically grinned at him, then poked one of the blades lightly on Raul's chest. Then slowly scraped the skin surface down, leaving a small cut which lead down from his neck to the centre of his chest.
"STOP IT! IT HURTS!" Raul cried out in agony, as he felt a few tears rolling down his cheeks.
"THEN TAL…"
Suddenly, RDJ picked up Jameson's baseball bat, and whacked Tomada in the face. Knocking him off of the younger teen. Causing him to fall flat on his face…with everybody gasping in shocked manners.
"I TOLD YOU TO STAND DOWN! HE IS JUST A KID!" RDJ screeched and tossed the bat back over to the black owl. Who reacted quickly by catching it.
"I…I'm sorry RDJ…I didn't want to go this far…" The falcon felt quite ashamed that he reacted quickly without thinking. As Andy and Jameson helped him stand back up. "Please forgive me."
The scarlet male continued to sniff and cry, as a trickle of blood ran down his chest. And RDJ crouched down and looked into the frightened kid's eyes. "Raul…How could you do this to me huh? Come on…why lie to me? To us?"
The scarlet macaw teenager suddenly stopped crying, and wiped away his tears. As he returned the gaze…but with so much fear this time.
"I'm sorry mentor…I didn't want to do what she told me to do! I couldn't risk dying if I didn't do everything she told me to do…" Raul whimpered, whilst trying not to look directly in his eyes.
"She? Who's she Raul?" Jacqueline suddenly softened her expression, and kneeled down next to the blue and gold male.
"I can't tell you! She would kill me if I told you!" He sadly replied as he looked into his blue eyes. "That's the reason why I took your gear from the beach hut and took it back to the church for you."
"Because you felt guilty…didn't you?" Tomada asked as he leaned up against a dumpster.
"Yes…And…It's she who will be after me if I tell you anything. She will murder me in cold blood. Especially so that you don't find out about your father's past. Hence why Fernando needed to be killed."
"Just to stop him from spilling the beans about what happened here in Mexico?" Jacqueline suggested, raising her wing up.
"Exactly! But it doesn't matter now…She's gonna kill me now…"
"No she won't kid! Just tell us? Tell us and we will deal with her!" The blue and gold macaw assassin replied as he patted him on the back.
Raul looked up at everyone around him looking at him with nothing but kindness. Just so that they wanted him to feel like they can be trusted.
"Okay…It's H…ACKKKKKAAAAaaaaaa…" Suddenly, an arrow came flying straight at the scarlet macaw, and hit him directly on his throat. Causing him to choke on his own blood…before instantly choking to death.
"WHAT?! NO! KID?! NOOOO!" RDJ screeched in a humongous amount of horror, as he now laid his eyes upon a lifeless corpse.
He quickly spun his head around to see where the arrow had come from…and the arrow was fired by a strange hooded macaw in a cloak. That was very similar to the one that The Destroyer wears. But it was a female who fired the arrow.
"HEY YOU! STOP!" RDJ called out to the mysterious macaw, who instantly swung the bow over her shoulder. Then went to make a run for it. "STOP! GET BACK HERE!"
RDJ jumped to his feet and leapt into the air to chase after the fleeing attacker. Whike is friends all just stood there with shocked glances on their faces.
"GET BACK TO THE CHURCH! I'LL CHASE THE ATTACKER! MOVE IT!" RDJ called out to his group, who immediately obeyed and fled the scene themselves.
Leaving the deceased Raul on the floor…who was sadly murdered by the fleeing killer.
Now Let's Check In On Lila…
The purple eyed blue female was so angry, thinking about what Fred had told her back at the church regarding the incident with her husband regarding her birthday.
She had been lied to yet again! And was this the last straw for her? It does sound a bit like it…
"GRRRRRRRRR! WHEN I FIND THAT…ROTTEN…BIG MUSCLED…sexy ass…handsome eyed…NO! No Lila! You can't keep falling for his charm when he lies to you like this! I'm so fucking tired of being messed about!" Lila angrily muttered, whilst scanning the city for her husband, feeling really enraged by what she had been told.
"LILA!"
The blue female suddenly turned her head around to see Aiden and Allie flying towards her pretty petrified. Which only confused the blue female.
"Guys? Have you seen my prick of a husband anywhere?" Lila asked the duo, who instantly just started ushering her away. "Hey! What do you two think…"
"WE'RE BEING ATTACKED! WE HAVE TO GET OUT OF HERE!" Allie shoved her in mid air, feeling the presence of The Remainders getting closer. As they had nowhere else to go.
"What the fuck has all of this got to do with us?! RDJ is the one they want! I say we just hand him over!" Lila angrily grumbled whilst flying for their lives.
"WHAT?! How could you do that to your husband?!" Aiden shot her a very cold stare, but she didn't really care what he thought.
"He wants to betray me and lie to me over and over again! Why should I care what happens to him, when he clearly doesn't care what happens to his family?" Lila grumbled, feeling a huge amount of rage hit her on her chest.
"But…he loves you! He is doing all of this to protect you?"
"HE IS DOING THIS TO PROTECT HIMSELF!" She screeched in anger, making the others feel slightly jumpy about her tone of voice.
"That's not true Lila! I know RDJ…he's a very good guy. And he has a big heart. Are you sure you're not…"
"Overreacting?! OVERREACTING?! HE LIED TO ME ABOUT MY BIRTHDAY!" Lila blurted out as the three of them managed to stop flying for a little while. As they found themselves resting by The Angel Of Independence. The huge statue that was in city centre.
Aiden, Allie and Lila landed inside the main room that looked like a broken window that had been smashed a long time ago. And they stood on a platform which looked pretty cool considering the floor was made of a solid marble, and the scenery was just fantastic.
The blue female was huffing and grumbling whilst crossing her wings, shaking her head from side to side with her feathers all frizzled.
"I am so fucking done with this shit! He lied to me again and again! Well that is the last straw! I need to talk to my husband now!" She was so boiling mad, that she couldn't stand still on the spot.
"Come on Lila? He's been so busy with work…" Aiden tried to calm her down, but it was of no use. She had already had enough.
"NO! I AM DONE BEING LIED TO! WHEN I SEE MY HUSBAND, HE IS IN FOR A HUGE ARGUMENT!" The blue female rudely spat out, sitting down stripping and crossing her talons. Whilst waiting for the enemy to pass by, hopefully not being able to spot them.
Aiden pulled himself up to the top to watch over the roads for any of The Remainders. Luckily the coast was clear for now…but he didn't want to take any chances.
Allie joined him by his side, kissing him on the cheek and resting her chin on his shoulder whilst hugging him from behind.
"I think at least we should wait here. Last thing we need is any of us getting into more trouble." The scarlet male replied, placing his shotgun on the floor besides him, sitting down behind the wall.
"I agree. I just hope our mentor isn't too far behind us." The pink macaw was so concerned about her friends, but obviously if they needed to take cover to avoid any conflict. Then that is the best place to be for the time being.
"Yeah…but…I'm kinda hoping that he doesn't come here straight away…" Aiden spoke softly, feeling quite deep about the manner in which he spoke of. His girlfriend was curious to know why this was.
"Why do you sound so…different about him coming here?"
"Did you not hear the way his wife spoke in there?" The scarlet macaw pointed downwards, referring to the extremely irritated female blue macaw. Who at this moment in time was in a full stream of tears. "I'm pretty sure now that when he gets back here…I don't see him being able to get out of this one."
"What do you mean?" Allie pondered, sadly forming a frown in the process.
"I mean…after all the trouble that RDJ and Lila have gone through in the past few years…all the arguments…the stress…the lies? Lila may not trust him anymore…it appears that now he doesn't really have a talon to stand on at this rate." Aiden lowered his head, and wrapped a wing around his beloved. "Maybe I could talk to her once she's calmed down a little. Then maybe she might be able to calmly discuss with him what he is in the wrong for. If that makes any sense?"
The duo understood that as things stand…RDJ and Lila's marriage was right on the very edge. And anything that happens now…may already be past the edge that their marriage could possibly end.
"That's not a bad idea. Maybe you could try and talk some sense into her! RDJ cannot lose his wife right now after everything that's happened so far."
"I know…but unfortunately sweetie…If Lila doesn't love him anymore…a marriage is no longer there…"
Now Let's Find Out Where RDJ Is…
The same attacker that killed Raul was still on the move, but they didn't fly very fast as you may have thought. Possibly a bird that was older than RDJ was making a run for it.
"STOP! COME BACK HERE!" The assassin was hot on their tail as he caught up to them pretty rapidly, with his wings flapping quicker than his fleeing enemy.
Pretty soon they descended to the ground and decided to travel closer to the ground.
"Shit! I'm never gonna he able to catch them flying like this!" RDJ thought to himself as he tried to find a faster route.
There wasn't really anything he could work with…all apart from a power line that was directly aimed in front of where the attacker was fleeing.
So RDJ pulled out his bow and began gliding on the power line to chase after the hooded figure. Getting closer and closer to his target.
"Now I've got you, you son of a bitch!" He cursed out loud, reaching his talon out to grab the bird who he was inches away from touching.
"That's what you think!" A female voice was heard from the attacker's beak, and pretty soon, she swiftly threw what appeared to be a machete at the power line, slicing it straight through like a cheap piece of string.
"SHIIIIIIIITTT!" The blue and gold male cursed as he landed flat on his face and rolled around a few times after the rough landing. Rolling over onto his back as he winced in pain.
"Hahahaha! Not today assassin!" The female cackled evilly and flew off into the city.
Leaving a very irritated blue and gold macaw, who grumbled and bashed the ground several times to show his disappointment in losing his target.
"DAMNIT! DAMNIT! GOD FUCKING DAMNIT! AHHHH!" He quickly jumped to his feet and brushed the sand off of his cloak. Spitting on the floor, and strolled away from the direction she had gone in. "I can't believe I lost her! Fuck! I was literally so close to getting her!"
"RDJ!"
The assassin looked up to see Maria flying towards him in a panic, and she landed in front of him showing a face of concern.
"Are you okay? Who was that bird?" The green winged female asked, as she looked over her shoulder.
"I don't know Maria. But whoever that was, she just killed my friend! How did you know I was here?" RDJ asked with a glance of curiosity.
"I saw you flying over my home screaming at someone. So I had to follow you to see if you needed a helping wing?"
"I appreciate the offer, but right now I have to get back to the church! But if you really want to help, I need you to scan the city and ask any of the locals if they have seen anything suspicious lately."
"Of course my friend! Stay out of trouble now!" The female winked at him playfully and flew away from the head of the assassins. Leaving him to his thoughts. As he was trying to figure out who that attacker was.
"This doesn't make any sense? Hmmmm…Maybe one of the keys will tell me what's really going on here…"
Now We Finally Head Back To The Church…
"Someone…Shot him?! Just…out of nowhere?" Keith was sat in front of his friends on the sofa that he sleeps on. All of them looked at each other and nodded their heads all at the sand time.
"Yes! But don't worry, our mentor is chasing them down as we speak!" Tomada beamed and crossed his wings. "I just hope that we are closer to finishing up here! I want to return home to my wife and children."
"We all do buddy! I bet even Lila can't wait to retire with her husband and love their life together peacefully without ant thugs to ruin it." Andy remarked whilst swinging on the hammock with Jacqueline laid down besides him.
"Hmmm…I don't think so actually…" Keith whispered to himself in a saddened tone…only to notice that Jaime had heard what he said.
"What do you mean you don't know? Did she say something to you?" The blue jay asked, causing everyone else to give him curious stares.
The barn owl gulped anxiously, because he was kind of hoping that nobody was going to hear him say this…but unfortunately for him that wasn't the case.
"Well…When Lila left here earlier today…She sounded like she was really angry with him?"
"What did he do this time?" Jacqueline shot her head up, after hearing how her best friend reacted.
"It appears that she knows about the supposed surprise that Alex and Tomada had set up for him. Now she's on her way now to try and find him."
"WHAT?! How did she find out?! Did you tell her?!" Alex growled and pointed at Jameson, who shook his head from side to side.
"I didn't tell her?! Did you DD?" The black owl asked his friend, who also denied it.
(I didn't say anything! It must have been falcon boy!)
"Don't you dare put this on me! I didn't tell her anything!" Tomada grumbled as he barrows his eyes at the blank owl.
"Well if I didn't say anything, and nobody here said anything…how does she know?! Because I doubt her husband would tell her?"
"Tell her what?"
Suddenly, RDJ returned to the church with sweat dripping down his back from all that flying. Grains of sand staining on his feathers.
"Master! Someone told Lila about the birthday surprise! But I didn't say anything!" Alex quickly blurted it out to defend his case. Making the others roll their eyes.
"What?! How did she find out…"
"We don't know! But you better make sure that you talk to her…"
"Right! I just have to learn the secrets of these keys, then I'm going to find her and talk to her!" RDJ replied as he walked straight past his friends into the study.
"Wait a minute? Shouldn't you find her first?" Jacqueline stood in front of him to block his path, but he didn't change his mind at all.
"I have already delayed this by a day or so! I need to know what's on these keys, then I'll go out and find her!" The blue and gold male replied seriously, sitting down on the chair abs getting his pencil out at the ready.
The blue spix's female sadly sighed heavily in defeat, and strolled back over to the group. "This is not good! Lila is out there somewhere and RDJ isn't even out there looking for her?"
"Well what do you expect? He didn't want to bring anyone with him so he can just finish his work and then go home knowing he didn't have any distractions. But now that all of us are here, it's delaying him. I definitely think that RDJ has every right to do what he's doing!" Andy explained confidently, and grasped his potentially new girlfriend's wing.
"I understand that…but you have to know that RDJ just can't keep lying to his wife! Because now…I don't think they can ever return from this!" Keith pointed out sadly whilst gazing at them.
"Why do you say that?"
"Well I hate to say this all of you…But the way that Lila spoke when she left the church…There is a strong chance that she is going to leave him…And get a divorce…"
Now Let's See Where Devine Is…
"Fucking hell! I've circled these streets nine times already! Where the bloody hell is Aiden?!" Devine spoke in Monifa's body, as she continued to search for her host.
She looked all around the market place, in the main square, even near the beach. There was no sign of him anywhere…until…
"Pssst! Monifa! Over here!"
Devine looked over her shoulder to see a pink wing sticking out of a window on a statue. Which only meant ons thing.
"Oooh! That must be Allie?" She thought out loud and using her quick flying ability, she shot right over to the statue and landed on the platform just inside. Narrowing her eyes at the scarlet male. "There you are Aiden! You know how long I spent inside this body?! Too bloody long!"
"Hey? You were the one who wanted some alone time with Devil Darkness? Don't put all of this on me!" Aiden replied a little annoyed himself, as he just relaxed next to Allie.
"Well I'm coming back in now! So get ready…" Devine closed her eyes briefly and shot right out of the grey macaw's body, and flew straight into Aiden. Who barely even moved a muscle, because he was used to it by now.
Monifa passed out from the sudden change…And Allie quickly caught her before she hit the deck. Then Aiden helped his girlfriend sit Monifa besides a very upset Lila. Who did nothing but sit there in tears.
(What's wrong with her?)
Devine asked using her telepathy to talk to Aiden, who instantly told her what's going on.
"I think Lila might leave RDJ…"
(What?! Why?)
"I don't know…but from what she just told us…I don't think she will be with him anymore…" Aiden then turned and faced the blue spix's macaw female. Not really knowing what to say to her at this point…
Now I know it's been a while since I updated. And I offer my sincere apologies. Due to my illness my concentration isn't that great right now. But I'm doing my best to keep the story going. It seems that RDJ and Lila's marriage is now right on the very edge. Fred has clearly got to her more than he actually thought. Now after RDJ chased the attacker down that killed Raul, he almost spoke her name before his death…but who is it? Now RDJ will be finding out the secrets of keys 2 and 3! Not even realising that fixing his marriage is almost impossible at the moment. Want to know what happens next? See you all soon for the next chapter.
