Both the ambulance and my royal limousine screeched to a stop outside of the emergency department at Auradon General Hospital, with my royal limousine pulling up behind the ambulance. I quickly got out of the car and ran up to the back of the ambulance as the back door opened and Doctor Cameron and his team ran forward wearing protective gowns and face masks. I was forced to step back by my parents as Mal was wheeled onto the tail lift and I gasped at the sight of her. She now had an IV fluids attached through a cannular with one of the ambulance crews holding it high as Mal was taken from the ambulance. My mother kept me next to her as they all pushed her into the emergency department for a few seconds before all three of us then followed them all quickly into the emergency department.

"GCS eight" I heard the female ambulance crew member tell Doctor Cameron. "Oxygen saturation seventy eight per cent" she continued. "Blood pressure two hundred and ten over one hundred and seventeen" she added. "Temperature forty two point one" she said as they started to push to the isolated part of the accident and emergency department that he been reserved for coronavirus patients. "Respiration rate twenty four, heart rate one hundred and sixty" she stated. "Alert to pain" she finished and I heard Mal groan loudly.

"Mal!" I called out and I heard another loud groan escape from my wife in the distance. "MAL!" I shouted as she was pushed into a room and a member of staff stepped forward stopping me from following Mal.

"Your Majesty" the female nurse said. "Please go inside room two" she asked politely.

"No" I advised. "I need to go-" I began as I tried to step around her and she stepped in my way and stopped me.

"No your Majesty" she pressed. "Her Highness might have Covid-" she muttered as she tried to keep this conversation as private as she could in this very busy accident and emergency department. "If she has" she continued. "You both need to isolate, your parents included" she instructed as she threw my parents a look before she looked back at me.

"But-" I started.

"We have new rules your Majesty" she advised cutting me off. "Please?" she begged and I watched as a concerned and very sympathetic look showed in her eyes. "I will look after her Majesty, I promise" she vowed and we both shared a glance for a few seconds.

"Ok" I nodded as I sighed in defeat as Mal was taken into a private side room. Of course I understood where she and the rest of the staff were coming from. I did speak to our health minister about the changes that had to be put in place due to the lockdown and our current pandemic, I just didn't take into account how it would actually feel going through it. This gave me more of an insight of what the people of Auradon were currently going through, and I vowed to try and make things easier for them but to also keep everyone safe. "But I want to be informed at all times" I stated.

"Of course" she nodded as another member of staff stepped forward and gestured to the right for me and my parents to follow them.

"She will be ok Ben" I heard my father say as we started to follow the member of staff down the corridor. "Mal is a fighter" he reminded me as he wrapped his right arm around my shoulders.

"I hope so father" I replied. "I really hope so" I stated as we stepped into a private side room with no one else in it. I really didn't like this situation, it was so unpredictable. And I couldn't say or do anything to do help with the outcome - and this was scaring me right down to my core.

Me and my parents had been stood in this side room for a few minutes before the door opened and a member of staff dressed in the same light green gown and head cap with light blue mask like everyone else entered the room.

"How is Mal?" I quickly asked her, as I started to hope that they had some news of my purple haired Queen.

"I don't know Your Majesty" she advised which made my face drop. "I've been sent in by Doctor Cameron to do your tests" she explained and I looked in her hands to see the three tests that were in her hands.

"Oh" I muttered as I pursed my lips together. "Sorry" I quickly apologised.

"No I understand" she dismissed. "How about this?" she started to suggest. "We quickly do the tests and then I will go and see how she is doing and then I'll come back and tell you?" she offered sympathetically.

"Please" I nodded eagerly. Yes I couldn't be with Mal but this was the next best thing, I just couldn't wait to get these tests done and out of the way and then I could find out how Mal was doing. I really hoped that she was starting to make improvements, as the alternative was too much to bare.

After quickly doing our tests the nurse then quickly left, the room then went silent for a few minutes before I heard my phone ring in my fathers pocket. He took it out of his pocket and went to give it to me and when I took it from her I saw that Evie was trying to ring me.

"Mother?" I stated as I bit down on my bottom lip.

"Yes?" she answered in concern.

"Could you please answer that? It's Evie" I questioned as I offered her my phone.

"Of course" she nodded as she took the phone from me and stepped in the corner of the room to answer it. "Hello Evie" I heard her say as she answered the phone. "Yes Mal is in hospital" she confirmed as she threw me a sad look. "We don't know how she is right now, we are waiting to find out" she explained. "I know it's hard" she continued before she also pursed her lips together. "There is a chance it could be Covid, and due to the new rules you can't visit. I don't even know if we should be here" she continued in concern. "I know it is hard, but we will keep you updated" she promised. "Ok" she stated. "Thank you" she added. "Bye" she said as she ended the call and gave me my phone back. I slid my phone into my pocket and all three of us quickly looked over to the door when the door opened and the member of staff who had just done our tests stepped back into the room.

"How is she?" I asked her again.

"I've been told that Doctor Cameron is coming in in a few minutes and he wants to update you himself" she explained.

"Ok" my mother said slowly.

"That doesn't sound good" I stated as I shook my head. If Doctor Cameron wanted to update us himself that didn't sound good. Of course Doctor Cameron was a close family friend and I understood because of that he may want to be the one to tell us what was going on with my wife, but on the other hand he was a doctor. He could give me all the information that we needed and because of our close bond I knew that he wouldn't skate around things he would tell us with the sincerity that we had come to love from Doctor Cameron.

"Sorry that is what I have been told to tell you" the female member of staff before she threw us an apologetic look before she turned and quickly left the room. The room began to fill into silence, however before I could fixate on the lack of information that we were given the door open and Doctor Cameron walked into the room.

"Hello" he said.

"Hello" all three of us solemnly answered together.

"Sorry I stopped Doctor Miller from giving you an update-" he started. "I was just in the middle of something, and I wanted to give you it myself" he explained.

"Ok" my father nodded.

"How is she?" I asked for the third time.

"Better" he advised, and I couldn't stop myself but sighing in relief. "She is currently on oxygen therapy, so her breathing is better" he explained, and I started to work on calming my breathing down. Relief was sweeping through me, yes I was over the moon that Mal had started to get better but I knew that she wasn't out of the woods yet. Coronavirus had this thing of being a roller-coaster, and I would be there every single step of the way. "We have quickly tested her Majesty-" he added as he pursed his lips together which made me think what was on my mind was maybe about to come true.

"Yes?" I prompted him.

"It is Covid" he confirmed and I took a deep breath in shock. Of course I knew that it was very likely that Mal had coronavirus but hearing it confirmed was another thing. It only made me continue to hope that Mal was going to be able get through this.

"What does that mean?" my mother questioned.

"She is going to get moved into an isolation bay" Doctor Cameron explained. "You can't go into the room with her" he quickly added, probably knowing that this was the next thing I was about to ask.

"What?" I questioned. "But I need to be with her" I pressed.

"I get that" he nodded. "But you have to remember you are King" he reminded me.

"And Mal is Queen" I quickly pressed.

"I get that" Doctor Cameron stated as he put he both hands up in front of him to defend himself. "But we need to protect you both" he stressed and I found myself nodding to this. I did understand what he meant, as me and Mal currently didn't have any children if I were to die to would throw the Kingdom into legal turmoil. However this wasn't the first thing that was on my mind, I wasn't meaning to sound and act selfish towards the Kingdom but Mal was the only one I was worrying about in this current moment. "I do have a compromise" he quickly added. "We are going to move her Majesty into an isolation bay" he informed us all. "And the isolation bays have a wall that is a screen, you can sit behind that" he stated.

"Ok" I nodded. "Can I go now?" I pressed, hoping that I would be able to see my beloved wife.

"After your test results" he advised. "They should be in soon" he promised. I opened my mouth to say something but the door opened and a nurse opened the door and handed her a set of papers before quickly leaving the room. We all then watched in silence as he quickly looked at the papers before he looked up at the three of us. "All of your tests results have come back negative" he confirmed and we all nodded at this.

"I wonder how Mal has it?" I heard my father say.

"And how I don't" I interjected. "I've been in her company" I thought out loud. "I was cuddled into her last night" I stated as I started to remember me and Mal being together last night. And how the difference between Mal then and Mal now was on two different part of the spectrum. Last night she was so full of energy and life and the last time I saw her she looked so weak, it broke my heart to think of her like that.

"You might be a few days behind" Doctor Cameron advised. "We will keep an eye on you all" he promised. "Follow me" he added with a meek smile. "I'll take you to the isolation room now" he explained. "But be warned, she looks weak" he warned the three of us.

"Ok" I nodded as I started to follow Doctor Cameron and my parents out of the room - with me and parents not knowing what we were about to find when we were finally reunited with Mal. And this scared me to my core!
