They had made it down the hall and almost to his room when Jax cut their intended activities short.
"Lex, uhh hey, I found more of your stuff in my room," he said sounding almost nervous for interrupting them. He knew Happy was on a short fuse with him after Wendy's fit and he didn't want to give the man another reason to blow his top.
Pulling back from Happy and placing her feet on the ground as he lowered Lexi down his body, she looked towards her brother. He was holding her clothes from when she first arrived and some of her bathroom items including her makeup bag and straightener. She figured she must have left them in his bathroom and Happy missed them when he grabbed her bag. "Thanks," she replied grabbing the items from him as Happy unlocked the door to his room.
"Look sis, I just want you to know I told Wendy to get lost. I don't know what came over her, but I'm not going to have her acting out at you like that. You don't need that shit."
"Jax, honestly I don't need any of this shit nor do I care what you did or told her. I do know if she touches me again, I will beat the shit out of her with no remorse for my own actions. Not to mention she will get what ever I'm sure Happy has planned for her fucking ass. I'm done being everyone's punching bag," Lexi informed him. "I don't even want to be here. I only came here because I was forced to come. Since showing up I've been shot and needed stitches, Dad attack Happy, both Gemma and Wendy have slapped me around like their personal rag dolls, I'm fucking exhausted but can't sleep because I feel unsafe. The only person who helps that feeling has to keep leaving to fix the mess SAMCRO created. All while being locked up like a damn prisoner in this clubhouse. This is not who I've become since I left. None of you know me anymore or seem to even give a fuck about the life I created for myself since leaving or have any concern for the one I'm growing."
"Then fucking stay in Charming Lexi! I know it may not seem like it, but we miss you. We want you home. You need to be home, especially because of the baby. Yes, there's shit going down with the Mayans right now but Happy took care of that. I have no doubt you and the baby would be safe if you came back home. Even when Hap is on runs. There's more of us to take care of you and it's a smaller town. We won't get to know the new you if you don't let us get the chance to. Let us be a part of yours and the baby's lives," Jax tried to reason.
"Our home is Tacoma. Our lives are there. My specialist for the baby is there. Happy's tat shop is there. Plus it hasn't even been a year since Hap's transfer went through along with his officer promotion. Even if I came back, there is no way he will get a transfer approval to come to Charming and I refuse to be without him. It's hard enough when he goes on runs. We will go to family dinner later at Ma's place and try being civil as long as everyone else is, but we're going home to Tacoma as soon as we can. The more you all try to convince me to stay, the more secure I become in my decision to go back. Charming isn't my home anymore," Lexi explained to him following Happy into the room.
"You know Gemma won't be okay losing her first grandchild to SAMTAC. She will put the blame on you," Jax said looking to Happy.
"Good thing it's our child and my family to care for. Choosing where our child lives is not Gemma's choice," Happy replied simply. "I take care of mine and that includes your sister and our unborn child. I'm part of SAMTAC. That means my Old Lady and child are SAMTAC. Even if she was raised SAMCRO. She's been safer there the last 3 months then she has for the week we've roughly been here."
"I just want you to know what you're getting yourself into. A war with Gemma never ends well."
"Ohh he knows Jax. We have full open disclosure in all aspects of our relationship. Including Gemma's past discretions. We have no intentions of starting a war but our life is ours to choose," Lexi told her brother starting to close the door. "See you at dinner."
"I'm sorry Hap. I don't know why they can't seem to catch a fucking clue," she told him fully closing the door and locking it behind her.
"You don't need to apologize for their actions. You're better than them. I need to do my part to stand my ground and deal with the bullshit too now that our relationship is in the open. They will fucking realize I make the decision I feel is best for you and it isn't their choice. But I swear to you, we will be headed home soon. Hopefully in the next couple days. Then things will go back to normal and I won't make you come down here again if you don't want to," he told her.
"Didn't realize I'd become your property," She grumbled.
"That's not what I meant and you know it. We discuss things and make decisions together but your safety is my priority and I will always make sure that comes first."
"Can we go see your Ma tomorrow? I need a sense of normalcy away from my psycho ass family," she asked trying to change the subject.
"If you want, I'll call her in a bit and see if she's feeling up to us stopping by. She will be excited to see how far along you've gotten," He told her rubbing her little bump. His ma loved Lexi. They may not be officially married in the eyes of the law but that didn't stop Elena from always loving Lexi like her own. If Lexi was honest, she felt more comfortable with Elena than she did her own mother. "Let's go for a short ride before dinner? Get ya away from the clubhouse for a bit. Then you won't feel like such a prisoner."
"Can we? Is everything handled with the Mayans?" She asked.
"For the most part. I wouldn't have offered if I wasn't sure. Clay said in church he isn't expecting more retaliation and my job didn't take half as long as they thought it would. They probably could have gotten by without me. I finished getting my kit set up but only got about 3 cuts in and he squealed like a little bitch," he told her.
"Maybe you're just better than you're given credit for. Biggest upside atleast all our secret's are out now. So the trip wasn't a total bust. Not having to hide our relationship definitely makes life simpler," She told him as she wrapped her arms around his neck and straddled his legs.
"Hmm, glad you think so. I probably need to call Lee and give him a heads up though if Clay hasn't yet," he said pulling her backwards onto the bed on top of him.
"Will you be in trouble?" Lexi questioned curling into his chest. She liked Lee from the times she had met him when she was younger but she also knew he leaned heavy on Happy like the other charter presidents did. If Clay said he questioned Happy's loyalties, everyone would start questioning him.
"Nah, they're alot more lenient about the personal shit up at SAMTAC. They probably won't give a fuck but after Clay's reaction, it would be for the best if I get ahead of it and they atleast know before he calls to make a big deal about it."
"I don't want to get you in trouble is all," she told him.
"I told you. Don't worry about me, I'll handle it. It's doubtful I'll get in any trouble. This club has had me do too much shit. They need my skill set and I know where damn near all their dirtiest secrets are buried." She hummed in response to him blowing off the situation at hand. Lexi knew it wouldn't be as simple as he was making it out to be. That's why she always feared mayhem.
"Speaking of secrets, that reminds me, I called and got you an appointment tomorrow morning," Happy informed her. "Jenny is talking with the pediatric heart doctor they have here so she will know what to look for and sending copies of your paperwork down. She agrees with me that you shouldn't wait til we get home. We will go there before we visit Ma."
"Sounds good to me. Looks like you covered all our bases. Let me get some different pants on and we can leave for that ride." Lexi gave him a quick peck and jumped from the bed eager to go out."Will you take me to the beach?"
"If that's what you want."
"I just want to sink my toes in the sand and play in water that isn't always freezing like back home," Lexi said while pulling a pair of jeans up her legs.
"Damn California girls, always bitching about the cold," he mocked her.
"Yeah? Well just because you like it always freezing to match your cold heart doesn't mean I have to!" She shot back.
"Cold hearted or not, I still managed to snag you didn't I," he said with a chuckle, standing to leave the room.
