Back in time
Chapter 3
Conner, Ethan, Trent and Dr O raced downtown, their Raptor cycles and Dino ATVs going as fast as they could. When they jumped off the vehicles, they rounded the corner to see Zeltrax stood with around 50 Tyrannodrones.
"Just what we need." Ethan huffed as the drones attacked.
"There's too many!" Trent shouted as he tried to take on 10 Tyrannodrones at once. "Where's Kira?"
"Just keep going." Conner ordered, jumping to avoid being hit. Just as he was about to be taken out by a drone, a loud screech blew them back, making the four rangers grip their heads as they ducked.
"Sorry guys." Kira said as she ran up to them. "Forgot to warn you about the scream."
"We're just glad you made it." Ethan said as they stood up.
"No matter. None of you will be able to stop me!" Zeltrax called as he powered up a device on the floor.
"Ummm…. What is that?" Trent asked, looking at it with trepidation.
"Ok, plan. Kick ass now, ask questions later." Conner said before they all charged forward, more Tyrannodrones appearing in their way. They did the best that they could, but for every tyrannodrone they took down, another took its place.
"Where are they all coming from?" Kira asked as she jumped out of the way, causing 3 drones to collide with each other.
"How is this a fair fight?" Trent asked.
"It's called bad guy maths." Dr O said, using his Brachio staff to knock the drones down. "Multiply by 10 and add 5."
"Seems unfair to me." Ethan muttered as he used his Tricera skin to block a hit. "This is starting to get old."
"Guys, focus!" Conner snapped, using his Tyranno staff to vault over some of the Tyrannodrones. They finished off the rest of the Tyrannodrones and regrouped in front of Zeltrax, falling into their stances. "You're finished Zeltrax!" Conner called, making him laugh.
"No rangers, you are finished!" He yelled, activating the device on the floor, causing a bright light to be emitted. The rangers all shielded their eyes with their arms.
"What is that?" Kira shouted, trying to see what was happening.
"I don't know, but we have to stop Zeltrax!" Dr O replied. "Come on!" They raced forward, only for the light to get even brighter before going out, leaving a bare patch of land behind, Zeltrax and the rangers nowhere to be seen.

Dr O woke up with a groan, lifting a hand to his head before opening his eyes. He sat bolt upright, registering that he was no longer in morph as he looked around the trees that surrounded him. As he recalled what happened, he looked around for his teammates, jumping up as he saw Kira lying face down in the grass. "Kira!" He called, running over to her and shaking her shoulder, causing her to groan as she woke up. "Kira, are you ok?"
"Urgh. Did you get the number of that bus?" She grumbled as she pushed herself to her knees, looking around in curiosity as she put a hand to her chest, feeling an ache around her ribs. "Where are we?"
"I don't know." Dr O replied, pulling her to her feet before putting an arm around her waist and kissing her head. "Let's see if we can find the guys and figure out what's going on." The two walked through the trees for a while, looking for any signs of their teammates, only to jump apart as they heard a loud noise.
"Ow! Shit!" A voice shouted, making the two share a look.
"There's a tree there." Another voice replied as they headed towards the voices.
"Thank you, captain obvious. Now come on, it's this way."
"No it's not! It's this way!" A third voice said.
"I thought you were supposed to be smart."
"Like you would have made it this far without me." Kira and Dr O walked into a clearing to see Conner and Ethan arguing, while Trent stood to the side with his arms crossed.
"Knock it off you guys." Dr O said, making the three turn to face them.
"Dr O! Kira!" Trent called as they ran over to them.
"You guys alright?" Kira asked, seeing a red mark on Conner's head.
"We're fine. Conner just walked into a tree." Ethan said, making the red ranger glare at him.
"Any idea what happened?" Conner asked, still glaring at Ethan.
"I don't know. I think it was a portal of some sort." Dr O replied as the group started walking, letting Dr O take the lead.
"But what about Zeltrax? Where is he?" Trent asked, making Dr O frown.
"No idea. I don't even know where we are." He replied, only to freeze as they walked out of the trees and into a park. "Ok, I take that back. I know where we are."
"You do?" Conner asked, staring at Dr O.
"We're in Angel Grove." He said, looking around the park with a frown.
"Angel Grove? As in home of the original power rangers Angel Grove?" Conner asked, not believing what he was hearing.
"Yes." He said.
"But why? Do you think Mesagog's hoping that it'll take us too long to get back?" Ethan asked as they looked around, none of them noticing Kira walking up a nearby hill.
"Maybe. Has anyone tried to contact Hayley?" Trent asked.
"Uh, guys? You may want to see this." Kira said from the top of the hill, making the guys make their way over to her. When they looked where she was pointing, they all froze.
"Is that…." Conner started, not believing his eyes.
"The original rangers!" Trent breathed, rubbing his eyes to make sure he wasn't seeing anything.
"Fighting Zeltrax." Ethan muttered, still in shock. Dr O looked around the rangers, taking note of their colours and fighting styles before his eyes widened.
"We're in 1994! Zeltrax sent us back in time." He gasped, making the others look at him with wide eyes.
"What?" They asked, not believing him.
"I recognise those fighting styles. This is after I became the white ranger, but before Jason, Zack and Trini left." He said, rubbing his head. "That light must have been a time portal that sent us back here. But why?"
"We can talk about that later. Right now, Zeltrax is down there with whatever those things are, and the rangers are losing." Conner said, taking the lead.
"They're called putties. They work for Zedd. Zeltrax must have teamed up with him." Dr O muttered.
"How long were we unconscious?" Kira asked, making them all frown in thought.
"Doesn't matter. We need to get down there." Conner said.
"Do you think our morphers will work here?" Ethan asked, looking at Dr O.
"Only one way to find out." He said as they stood in a line.
"Ready?" Conner asked.
"Ready." They replied, flicking their wrists so that their morphers appeared.
"Dino Thunder! Power up! Hah!"
"White Ranger! Dino Power!"
The original rangers regrouped and looked at each other in shock, all panting slightly.
"These putties are a lot stronger than normal." Kimberly said, looking around in worry.
"You think this guy works for Zedd?" Zack asked, looking at Tommy with a frown.
"I don't know, but we have to stop them." He replied, holding Saaba out.
"You are no match for me Rangers!" Zeltrax shouted, laughing from where he stood behind the putties.
"You wanna bet?" A voice called before 5 beams hit Zeltrax, making him fly to the ground. The rangers turned in shock to see 5 rangers stood on top of the hill wearing red, blue, yellow, black and white.
"Who are they?" Trini asked.
"No idea." Jason mumbled. "Billy, did Zordon mention other rangers?"
"Not that I am aware of." Billy replied, cocking his head to the side in confusion.
"You!" Zeltrax exclaimed in fury as he stood up. "How did you get here?"
"The same way as you." Trent commented as they pulled their weapons out. "Although we still don't know how you did." He muttered, making Dr O glare at him under his helmet.
"Focus." Kira snapped.
"Putties! Attack!" Zeltrax ordered.
"Let's do it." Conner said. The 5 flipped over the original rangers, landing and immediately falling into battle with the putties. The original rangers watched in shock and awe as the Dino Thunder team took down the putties with relative ease.
"Should we help them?" Kim asked, rubbing her head. Tommy took a step forward, only to be thrown back by a puttie sent their way by the white ranger.
"Sorry!" Trent called as he engaged in a fight with another puttie.
"I think they can handle it." Tommy groaned as Jason and Zack helped him up.
The Dino Thunder rangers made quick work of the putties and regrouped in front of Zeltrax, all standing ready to fight.
"End of the line, Zeltrax." Ethan said.
"You will not stop me!" He hissed, jumping into an invisaportal that opened up above him.
"No!" Kira yelled. "How is he using invisaportals?"
"Maybe he set up the network?" Ethan suggested as they shared looks.
"Let's get out of here and see if we can figure out what is going on." Conner said. They turned to leave, but froze when they saw the original rangers behind them.
"Would someone like to explain what's going on?" Tommy asked as they stood in front of the new rangers.
"Uh… Not really." Ethan snapped, crossing his arms over his chest.
"If we know what is going on, we can help you." Jason said, making Kira's eyes narrow. She had heard how Jason had treated Dr O in their time, and so she had very little patience for him.
"Here's what you need to know. If Zeltrax shows up again, you back off and let us deal with it." She snapped.
"You seriously expect us to sit back if someone is attacking Angel Grove?" Trini asked.
"Here's a deal. If Zedd attacks, we'll leave him to you. But Zeltrax is nothing to do with any of you. If he attacks, you leave him to us. Got it?" Kira asked, ignoring the looks she was sure Dr O and Conner were giving her.
"Chill out Babe." Zack said, making Kira glare even more and the guys freeze.
"Oh no." Ethan muttered, putting a hand to his head.
"Not good." Trent mumbled as he took a small step away from Kira.
"What did you call me?" Kira hissed, her voice low and menacing.
"What's your problem?" Jason asked, not realising how angry she was getting.
"Oh I'll give you a problem." She muttered, stepping forward. Dr O grabbed her shoulder, pulling her back while Conner, Trent and Ethan stepped in front of her, making sure she couldn't get to the original red ranger.
"Ki-Ptera doesn't like to be called Babe." Conner said, glancing behind him to see Dr O nod towards the hill they were on earlier. "Let's get out of here before things get ugly."
"Hey, Wait!" Trini called as they turned to walk away, Dr O's hand still on Kira's shoulder.
"I'll give you one warning, don't follow us." Conner snapped, not turning around.
"Like hell!" Jason said. Conner nodded to Kira as Dr O lifted his hand. She spun around as the other 4 ducked and covered their ears and let out her Ptera scream, knocking the original rangers back and allowing them time to run up the hill and disappear.
"Well, they seem nice." Zack commented as they picked themselves off the ground, ears still ringing.
"What the hell was that?" Kim asked, holding her head in her hand.
"Let's get back to the command centre, see if Zordon knows who they are." Tommy said before the 6 rangers teleported away.

"So, what's the plan?" Trent asked. The Dino Thunder rangers had de-morphed and were sat in secluded area of the Angel Grove Park.
"I'm going to see if I can find a place for us to stay." Dr O said. "You guys can hang out at the Youth Centre. If you buy anything, make sure to only use money pre 1994. And try to blend in. That means no tech talk Ethan! And no TV talk Conner! Try to stay in the shadows. We don't want to make anyone suspicious."
"What if we run into the other rangers?" Conner asked. "Should we ask for their help?" He said, making Kira scoff.
"We don't want to risk changing the future." Dr O replied, giving Kira a warning look. "Just don't draw attention to yourselves. I'll meet you back here in an hour." He started to walk away, before turning as the thought of something. "Oh, and if you run into 2 guys named Bulk and Skull, just ignore them. They are like the Cassidy and Devin of this time." He turned invisible and left, making the teenagers share looks.
They followed his directions to the Youth Centre and walked in, stopping to admire the building.
"I think this place is cooler than Hayley's." Conner said as they found a table.
"Don't let her hear you say that." Trent laughed before frowning. "How much money do we have?" They pulled all of their money out, sorting through what they could use and what they couldn't.
"I think we have enough for a smoothie each." Ethan said, grabbing the money. "You guys want a drink?"
"Yeah. What about you Kira? Kira?" Conner asked, turning to look for the yellow ranger when he found her seat empty. The boys saw her at a punching bag, taking out her anger on the bag.
"Should we get her?" Trent asked, making a move to stand up.
"Do you want to get between Kira and a punching bag?" Conner asked, making Trent think for a moment before sitting back down. "It's probably better to let her get her anger out now, instead of losing it later."
"I hope you're right, cause look who just came in." Ethan said, pointing at the door. Conner and Trent looked over to see the original rangers walk in, laughing and joking with each other
"Great, just what we need." Conner muttered, turning back to the table.
"Remember what Dr O said. We can't let them know who we are." Trent whispered, only to freeze as the rangers walked over to their table.
"Hey, you guys must be new around here." They looked up to see Tommy stood next to their table, all but one ranger joining him with smiles. "I'm Tommy. This is Trini, Billy, Zack and Kim."
"Hey. I'm Conner. This is Ethan and Trent." Conner said, silently cursing himself for slipping into his role as leader. "We're visiting from Reefside."
"Reefside? What are you doing here then?" Trini asked.
"Science trip." Ethan said, thinking quickly. "Our science teacher took us to a dig site near here to look for fossils."
"Awesome. How long are you guys in town for then?" Zack asked, sitting down next to the three teens.
"That is a good question." Conner muttered under his breath. On the other side of the youth centre, Jason walked up to Kira, admiring her skill and technique.
"Looks like you want to hit something other than the bag." He said, making Kira grind her teeth as she recognised the voice.
"Why? You volunteering?" She asked, turning to face him.
"Trust me, you don't want to spar against me." He said with a slight laugh.
"Oh really?" She asked, putting her hands on her hips. "Why? Scared you're gonna lose to a girl?" Jason's eyes narrowed slightly as she raised an eyebrow.
"Alright. You're on." He said, turning and walking to the matt, Kira following. Both teams of rangers at the juice bar were watching as the pair got ready to spar.
"Why does he always spar with new people?" Kim asked with a groan. "They never win."
"Well, he must be stupid to pick a fight with Kira when she's in this mood." Trent commented, sharing a look with Conner.
"I highly doubt that she will succeed. The only person who can overcome Jason's proficiency and agility in hand to hand combat is Tommy." Billy said, making everyone look at him in confusion.
"And for those of us who don't speak Billy?" Zack asked, making Trini roll her eyes.
"He said that the only person able to beat Jason is Tommy, and thinks Kira will lose." She said, making them all nod in understanding as Ethan, Conner and Trent shared smirks.
"I bet you 20 bucks she beats him." Ethan said, looking at Zack.
"You're on." He replied, shaking Ethan's hand before the two turned to watch.
Jason was shocked at how well Kira was keeping up with him. She seemed to stick mainly to defence, dodging and blocking each and every one of his attacks. He went for a high punch, only for her to twist to the right, letting his arm go past her head, and grabbed onto the arm before using her leg to sweep his out from under him, making him fall on his front as she held his arm behind him.
"You were saying?" She muttered as she let go of him, watching him sit up and stare at her in shock. She looked up and frowned as she saw Ethan taking money from Zach. "Seriously? You made a bet?"
"Hey, I take whatever opportunity I can." Ethan replied with a smirk.
"Feel better?" Conner asked as Kira walked over to the table and Jason pushed himself to his feet. She nodded slightly and picked up his drink, ignoring his protests as she finished it.
"Guys, we're late." Ethan said, looking at the clock on the wall. "We said we'd meet Dr O 10 minutes ago."
"Let's go." Conner said as they all stood up before he looked at the original Rangers, who seemed to be looking at Kira in shock. "See you guys around." They all left and the original Rangers watched them.
"What the hell was that?" Kim asked, shock evident in her voice.
"Man! That was awesome!" Zack cheered, making Jason glare.
"She surprised me, that's all." He replied. "What is her problem anyway?"
"You don't think they have anything to do with those new Rangers, do you?" Trini asked, making them look at her in shock.
"It makes sense." Zach added. "The yellow one seemed to have the same attitude as Kira."
"There were 5 rangers, and only 4 of them." Tommy said with a frown. "But I guess it wouldn't hurt to keep an eye on them."
From now on, Dino Thunder Tommy will be referred to as Dr O to save confusion for both you guys and me.
