Back in time.
Chapter 10
Brainsaur was causing havoc in the park, chasing kids and their parents from the play area, shooting a beam from the gem on his forehead, which caused explosions.
"With this gem, I am unstoppable!" He cried, throwing his arms in the air and laughing as he did.
"Think again!" A voice called, making the dinosaur spin to see the rangers of the past and future standing together not far away.
"Rangers! You cannot stop me!" He said, looking at the two that he had hit the last time they fought. "I will shoot the two of you again if you get in my way."
"You have no idea how to use a Dino gem! You cannot control it!" Kira said, still frowning at the sound of Jason's voice. "I'm pretty sure you didn't mean to switch our minds."
"So that's what it did. Next time you won't be so lucky!" He snarled.
"You guys ready for this?" Dr O asked, making everyone nod and fall into their formations.
"Ready?" Conner said, raising his arm.
"Ready." Came the response from the Dino rangers, all activating their morphers.
"Dino Thunder! Power up! Ha!"
"White Ranger! Dino Power!"
"It's morphin time!"
Brainsaur watched as all but 2 rangers morphed, Kira and Jason sighing as they realised their mistake.
"You two figure out how to morph. We'll handle this loser." Tommy said, the morphed Rangers falling in to battle with Brainsaur and the newly arrived Putties.
"What do I do?" Jason asked, making Kira roll her eyes.
"Flick your wrist to turn the bracelet into the morpher." She said. She showed him the movements and command before he passed her his morpher and showed her what to do.
"You ready for this?" Jason asked, looking at Kira in his body.
"Ready." They smirked, before doing the correct morphing sequence, Jason taking in the yellow skirt attached to the ranger uniform, Kira trying to get used to the red colour.
"Use the Ptera grips." Kira said, making Jason nod before calling the weapons.
"You've got the power sword." He replied. Kira called the item, and they observed the fight in front of them. Their teammates were all fighting the putties, none being able to get close to Brainsaur. "Shall we?"
"We shall." They shared a nod before charging towards the monster, leaping over Putties before landing in front of him. Kira slashed the sword across the monster's chest, sending him back to where Jason used the Ptera grips to send him flying on to his back.
"Even if we get the gem away from him, how do we get our minds swapped back?" Jason asked, watching as the monster stood back up.
"I have an idea. Follow my lead." Kira said, putting the sword away.
"You two will regret that!" Brainsaur yelled.
"Will we now?" Kira asked, red clad arms crossed in front of her. "Seems to me like you're not strong enough to hurt us."
"Not strong enough!" He cried.
"Kira, you're going to make him angry!" Jason hissed.
"That's the point." She replied. "If he hits us with the beam again, it might swap our minds back." Jason thought for a second before smiling in the yellow helmet.
"I mean, if Zeltrax thought you were strong enough to defeat us, why did he send you with the putties?" He said, putting the Ptera grip's away.
"WHAT?" Brainsaur shouted, the gem starting to glow.
"And what sort of monster doesn't know how to use its abilities. Is it you controlling that gem, or the gem controlling you?" Kira asked, smirking as she did.
"I'll show you who's in control!" He shouted.
"Get ready." Kira muttered, bracing herself for the blast she knew was coming. Brainsaur shot a beam at them from the gem. It hit them both square on, sending them flying backwards and knocking them out of morph again.
"Kira! Jason!" The other Rangers called. Dr O and Tommy both ran over, helping the two up. "Are you two alright?" Dr O asked. Kira and Jason looked at each other for a moment before smiling.
"It worked!" Kira cheered, glad to be back in her own body, looking down at herself before frowning. "Did you have a shower? And get changed?"
"I didn't look!" Jason protested before smirking. "Well, now that we have our own bodies back, what do you say to kicking this creep's ass?"
"Let's do it. But we are going to come back to the shower thing later." Kira said, making Jason roll his eyes. They both quickly morphed, smiling as they once again wore their own colours.
"What? How?" Brainsaur screeched, outraged that they had their own bodies back.
"Hey guys." Ethan said as he and Billy ran over, both morphed.
"I've got the scanner. I just need to input the frequencies from your gems to determine which energy signature is identical to the unbonded gem." Billy said, making Conner frown.
"Huh?" He asked, making Trini laugh.
"We need to scan our gems. And then we can see whose gem is in his head." Ethan said. He quickly scanned Kira's and Conner's gems before pointing it at Brainsaur.
"What is that?" The monster asked, still angry from the comments Kira and Jason made. The machine beeped and Ethan laughed.
"Ptera, you're up." He said, showing that the device matched the gem to Kira's.
"What do I do?" She asked.
"Get the gem. We'll figure out the rest after." Dr O said.
"You need some help?" Jason asked, waiting for the yellow ranger to snap at him.
"Sure. If you can keep up." She replied. Jason rolled his eyes before they attacked the monster, the rest of the rangers getting occupied with the putties that appeared between the rangers and the monster.
"You can't defeat me!" Brainsaur laughed as he knocked the two rangers back.
"Right, time to kick it up a gear." Kira said as she stood up. "Super Dino Mode!" She called. Jason watched as the white diamonds on her suit elongated, forming spikes over her arms and legs. The back of her suit seemed to stretch out from the base of her neck, forming pterodactyl like wings that stretched from wrist to wrist, her Ptera grips firmly in hand. She jumped high, her wings letting her fly straight to the monster, slashing him with her Ptera grips and sending him to the ground as she used his chest as a spring board to land back next to Jason. She opened her hand and showed everyone the Dino Gem in her hand. "Got it!"
"Nice." He commented, standing up as their teams joined them.
"Did you get the gem?" Dr O asked, making Kira hold up the clear gem in question. "Let's finish him."
"What? How did you get that? No!" Brainsaur screeched, seeing the gem in Kira's hand.
"Put 'em together?" Kira asked Conner, who nodded. "And you guys?"
"Let's do it." Tommy said.
The Dino Thunder team put their weapons together to form their Z-Rex blaster as the Mighty Morphin' rangers formed their Power Blaster.
"Ready!" Conner called, Kira and Ethan knelling to keep the Z-Rex Blaster steady as Dr O and Trent stood with a hand on each of Conner's shoulders to keep him steady.
"Aim!" Jason called as the Mighty Morpin' rangers levelled the power blaster and held it steady.
"Fire!" They called, both teams firing their blasters at the same time. The beams hit Brainsaur and caused a huge explosion, sending chunks of the monster flying all over the place.
"We did it!" Kim cheered, moving away from her group as she jumped up and down.
"Wait for it…" Dr O warned, the Dino Thunder rangers all watching the space where the monster was. They were silent for a minute before sharing confused looks.
"No revived, gigantic version of him?" Trent asked in confusion.
"It doesn't look like it." Conner said warily, still worried that a giant version of the monster was going to appear.
"So that happens to you guys too?" Zack asked, looking back at the spot where the monster was.
"Always." Ethan replied.
"Maybe Zeltrax made Brainsaur without telling Zedd. He doesn't have the re-hydration thing that Mesagog uses and he probably doesn't know how Zedd makes his monsters grow." Kira said, looking around.
"Let's head back to the command centre. If they decided to make him grow, Alpha will detect it." Billy said.
"Help us teleport?" Trent asked, making them laugh. Trini put her hand on Kira's shoulder, Zack on Dr O's, Billy on Ethan's, Jason on Conner's and Tommy on Trent's.
"Try to stay on your feet." Tommy said before they all teleported in streaks of light.

Later that evening, all of the rangers were sat in a field near a cabin, laughing and enjoying the sun.
"I can't believe I didn't think of my Uncle's cabin." Dr O said as he looked back at the cabin. "It would have been the perfect place for us to hide."
"In the middle of the woods, away from anyone that might see you, and your Uncle always leaves the door unlocked." Jason said, making the Dino Thunder teens laugh.
"So that's where you get it from!" Kira laughed, making Dr O frown.
"I don't always leave the door unlocked." He grumbled.
"Maybe not the door to the lab, but I don't even think I've seen a key to your front door. Do you actually have one?" Ethan asked, making everyone join in with the laughing.
"I'm gonna go get a drink." Kira said, making her way inside. Jason watched her for a moment before getting up and following, not seeing how Dr O followed his every movement. He walked inside and found Kira in the kitchen, drinking a glass of water with one hand holding her ribs.
"Kira?" She jumped at the sound of his voice, wincing as it caused her ribs to throb more. "What happened?"
"What are you talking about?" She asked, even though she was pretty sure she knew what he was talking about. It's very difficult to hide injuries from someone who has been you.
"The bruises and the ribs." He said, making her sigh.
"You said you didn't look." She muttered, making him shudder with the memory of being her for a day.
"I waited until the important parts were covered. Plus, half of the tops Trini brought you wouldn't cover the ones on your arms." He sat on the kitchen table, watching her carefully. "Do the others know?"
"Dr O knows. He's tried to get me to go to hospital, but I said no. I've had worse." She said, leaning against the counter.
"Your ribs might need checking. I was you remember, I felt the pain." She lowered her head and looked away. "How did it happen?"
"My dad. He gets abusive when he's angry." She said, shocking Jason with her response. "It's funny, I have these amazing abilities and wicked power that I use on a daily basis to save complete strangers, but when he was…. I couldn't do anything. I couldn't…. didn't fight back. I just, couldn't." Jason walked over to her and put his hand on her shoulder. "Why couldn't I try to defend myself?"
"Kira, you were scared. By the time you realised what was going on it was probably over. You can't blame yourself." He said. She nodded and looked up, letting Jason see the tears in her eyes.
"Thanks Jason. I'm going to wipe my face before going back out." She said, walking out of the room and heading to the bathroom. Jason sighed and leant against the counter, trying to process what he had heard.
"She's a yellow ranger alright." Jason looked up and saw Dr O leaning against the door frame. "Tough as nails and scary as hell, but a heart of gold. She doesn't trust easily. It took her a long time to trust me and the boys when they first got their powers."
"It's not like she could hide it from me. Not when I was in her body for a day. God that sounds weird." He grumbled. "I don't feel like I've earned her trust. I think she just realised she couldn't avoid explaining to me."
"Kira is in a bad situation at the minute. I'm trying to help her as much as I can, but I didn't find out about it until the day before we came here." Dr O sighed and looked behind him, making sure no one was around. "Did you tell her that you know?"
"No. I figured she's got enough to worry about at the minute." He said, frowning slightly. "How did that happen by the way?"
"I don't know. It just, did." He said, smiling slightly. "We'd been spending a lot of time together training. It was during one of our training sessions when I tripped her, and she pulled me down. I ended up on top of her and then, we just kissed."
"How far have you gone?" Dr O looked up with slightly narrowed eyes. "I mean, you know, she is your student and all."
"She's of age. And we haven't slept together if that's what you're asking. We've shared a bed once and that was after she confessed what her dad had done. And before you start snapping, all clothes stayed on." He replied with a slight smirk. "We are going to tell people, but we have to wait until after graduation. I could get in a lot of trouble for this."
"What? For dating your student or being a ranger?" Jason asked with a smirk.
"Both."
"So, how are you going to get back to your time?"
"I don't know. But there has to be a way." He said.
