It was late that year and Heatwave and Quickshadow had been talking about having a baby. But they didn't know about when was going to be right time for it. But little did they know that a bundle of joy was already coming their way.
Quickshadow had gone to the doctor recently and was waiting to here her test results. She hadn't been feeling like herself lately. Not mention the main thing she was interested in eating was peanut butter.
Then her phone rang. "Hello," Quickshadow said. "Yes I'm Quickshadow Flamezer," she said.
"Who is it Quickshadow?" Dani asked.
"It's Dr. Liven," Quickshadow answered her. Dr. Liven was the doctor Quickshadow had seen to get a check up with. "Yes really, thank you, yes I will set up an appointment for later this week okay bye," she said. She was smiling she looked both happy and a little nervous.
"Well what did the doctor say?" Cody asked.
"The doctor said I am pregnant," Quickshadow said.
"You are going to have a baby that's great," Graham said.
"Wow Heatwave a father," Kade said.
"This wonderful news," Chief Burns said.
"Now none of you tell Heatwave about this, because I want to be the one to tell him understand?" Quickshadow said.
"Understood," they said.
Heatwave came in as if on cue. "Speak of the devil there he is," Kade said.
Quickshadow came up to Heatwave and kissed him. "My you are in a good mood, I came in to see if you were in here, because I was wondering if you wanted to go out for a while," Heatwave said.
"Well Heatwave I have something to tell you," Quickshadow said.
"What is it?" Heatwave asked.
"The doctor called with my test results," Quickshadow said.
"Really what did he say?" Heatwave asked.
"We're going to have a baby," Quickshadow said.
Heatwave smiled and then lift Quickshadow up and spun around laughing. "This the best news ever," Heatwave said setting her down and kissing her. "I am so excited I can hardly wait," he said.
"I can hardly wait to meet our baby too," Quickshadow said.
"You can count on us to help," Cody said.
"Yes you can count on all of us," Dani said.
"You can count on me too," Graham said.
"And me," Hayley said.
"Me too," Kade said.
"I will help as well," Chief said.
"We will help too," Boulder said.
"Yes I will help," Blades said.
"I will assist with the baby as well," Chase said.
"Thank you all of you," Heatwave said.
"We know all of you will be a big help and great aunts and uncles to our baby," Quickshadow said.
Then who should come in but Woodrow, Heatwave's parents and siblings and Quickshadow's parents and brother.
"Everything seems to be in a good mood here," Woodrow said. "Something good must've happened," he said.
"I agree to that," Heatstroke said.
"Yes what is going on?" asked Marsha Quickshadow's mother.
"Well I guess this means the cat will be let out of the bag again," Chase said.
"I'm going to have a baby," Quickshadow said.
"Congratulations," said their families.
"A baby that is wonderful news," Woodrow said.
Soon everyone on Griffin Rock heard the big news and they were happy for Heatwave and Quickshadow too.
The first trimester wasn't that easy. There was nausea, morning sickness, sore breasts, mood swings and food aversions. Quickshadow's first appointment went well they got to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time.
They began to get ready for the baby. There was a lot to do. Heatwave and Quickshadow decided to be surprised for the gender of the baby. Quickshadow made with fleece fabric with dalmatians on it underneath it was yellow. It was very cute, soft, cuddly and warm. It was going to be perfect to keep the baby warm.
The first three months went by quickly. Quickshadow was soon no longer plagued by nausea, morning sickness and food aversions. Then she began have food cravings and soon she would be experiencing other symptoms too.
Quickshadow was starting to grow now. Everyone could see she was pregnant. She had to start shopping for maternity clothes. She was feeling very uncomfortable as time went on. The baby was getting bigger and bigger inside her and getting comfortable was an impossible mission soon.
Soon she was able to feel her baby kick. The others were able to feel it too. It was very exciting to say the least.
Both Quickshadow and Heatwave came up with a list of names for when the baby was born. They had some names picked out for a girl and names picked out for a boy. There was a lot to do at the moment it was very exciting too. So they were very busy at getting ready for the baby.
They were very excited to get ready for it. The nursery was finally ready for the baby. It was very exciting to say the least.
They were really looking forward to the baby coming. They hoped the baby was going to be healthy.
The third trimester came and it was July the baby was now due any day now. It was exciting to say the least. They were looking forward to it. It was soon July 13th and the baby was going to come very soon it was going to be next week according to the doctors. "Ugh it is hard to wait for my baby to get here, I know it will be another week until my due date I am just excited," Quickshadow said.
"I'm excited too," Heatwave said.
"Well babies tend sometimes not to come when do so you just have to wait and see," Dani said.
Quickshadow was getting a drink of water that night during a movie when she felt pain and dropped her glass. "Ah! I think it's time," Quickshadow said.
"Then let's get you to the hospital," Heatwave said.
Everyone went to the hospital.
Heatwave and Quickshadow were all checked in and were now in a hospital room. Quickshadow was holding Heatwave's hand. It was soon 8 am the next day. The baby was going to come very soon. The doctor said it might be two more hours until the baby is born.
Then at 10 am. Quickshadow gave birth to her and Heatwave's baby. "It's a boy!" the doctor said.
Heatwave and Quickshadow were so happy they had a son. He was so cute, 20 inches long, 7 lbs. 10 ounces. He had blonde hair and big blue eyes just like his mother. He was very healthy and he was doing very well. He was super cute. The named him Hot shot.
Quickshadow decided when she did have children to nurse them. Her mother did it for her and her brother, Heatwave was all for it too, his mother did it for his siblings and for him.
Quickshadow with the help of the doctor began to nurse Hot shot. Hot shot latched on and began to suckle without any issues. Quickshadow marveled at how it felt it was wonderful she was giving him nature's perfect food, her milk. Once he was fed he was dozing.
Everyone came to see him a bit a later. Hot shot was awake by then and looked at everyone who came in.
"Aw look at him," they said.
They loved little Hot shot and soon he was brought home. Hot shot was going grow up their and become a fine child.
Everyone was looking forward to it especially Heatwave and Quickshadow.
