After getting herself dressed, Lexi trekked back to Koz's dorm and flopped onto the bed.
"Wanna tell me what the screaming was about?" Bec asked her with a small chuckle.
"These fucking assholes and their lack of boundaries..."
"Aww you don't wanna be like the nasty club hoes who get passed around?" Bec started laughing at the glare she received from her friend. "So what's our game plan for the rest of the day?"
"Hap said there's a party tonight. Told me to take the boys over to Ope and Donna's. I guess she volunteered to watch them so they don't have to be here tonight."
"Interesting..."
"My thoughts exactly but who am I to question my old man?" Lexi asked sarcastically with while shaking a rattle with Harley.
"Bitch don't play coy with me! That's all you do."
"True," she replied picking up her son and the diaper bag. "Good on supplies in here or should I re-up? I'm sure Gem will make us help set up for the party so I should get them to Don soon."
"They're good. I stuffed it earlier when I grabbed 'em just in case."
"You're seriously the best friend ever. I don't know what the boys and I would do without you auntie Bec."
"Aww! I love you too! And just think all it took for us to be friends was you beating my ass," Becca told her, hitching Barrett on her hip and following Lexi into the hall.
"And you'll never let me live that down," Lexi chuckled.
"Definitely not."
The drive to the Winston's home didn't take long but as she pulled into the drive, Lexi knew they'd quickly interrupted something. Donna was stomping around to the front of the house with both her own children in tow and Opie was slowly following behind looking beaten down. Seeing the girls pull up, Donna quickly plastered a fake smile on her face and greeted them at the car.
"Hey ladies!"She greeted and started gushing over the boys, "Oh my goodness! Would you look at these two? You shouldn't have taken so long to come by!"
"I know Don, I'm a shitty friend! I've missed you though," Lexi said hugging her. Noticing Opie didn't follow them in the house she continued "Things going good?"
"Yeah, just readjusting after the years of being the only parent."
"Totally get that. Hap's gone on runs alot luckily I have Becca to help out but I can only imagine what you went through. I know J said you didn't come around much after everything that happened."
"It's hard. I want my kids to know and do better. Not think they're legacies who have to be drug into club life. Shit sorry! I didn't mean it like that, I know its not all the club's fault but it's so hard not to pass that blame."
"Hey, you'll get no judgement from me!" Lexi told her, "I tried leaving remember?"
"You're stronger than I could ever be. That's for sure!" Becca told Donna. "I know it's not the best life but I can't seem to leave it either."
"Thanks but it definitely doesn't feel that way sometimes. I still can't bring myself to go around the clubhouse. That's why I volunteered to watch the boys tonight. Gives me a good excuse to stay gone."
"I truly appreciate it!" Lexi gushed. As if on cue she received a text from her mother with a list of things to grab for the party. "That's ma. Shopping chores."
"Go! I got this!" Donna told her. "Sure ain't my first rodeo!"
Lexi laughed and gave Donna the run down on the boys and supplies she had in the bag. After confirming she'd be okay to pick them up in the morning, Lexi kissed her sons, hugged her friend and went out the door to start the errands for her mother.
After food shopping and an extra alcohol run, Lexi's car was packed and the girls were headed back to set up the club house. As she rounded the corner of the hall to the kitchen Lexi stopped short at the sound of whispering voices.
"Do you really think you'll be able to pull it off though? Happy hardly leaves the bitch's side anymore."
"No idea, but what Clay wants he gets so I have to try. If I'm getting a chance at sleeping with Happy again, not exactly going to turn that down either."
The longer she stood listening in, the more pissed Lexi was becoming. She didn't know what her father had planned for her relationship but she definitely wasn't going to let it idly get taken from her either. 'So much for accepting us and being proud. I should have known' she thought you herself. When she heard Bec start to come down the hall behind her she swooped into the kitchen to see the culprits behind the conversation. Sure enough there stood Sarah, the same crow eater who had tried picking a fight when they had the dinner at her parents, and another girl Lexi couldn't place.
"Why don't you get busy doing something and help instead of standing around?" Lexi spat with a tad more malice than intended.
"You could be nicer ya know," the other girl told her while Sarah just rolled her eyes.
"Jenny, you really think it's smart to question an old lady? Or Clay and Gems daughter for that matter?" Bec said putting her hands on her hips.
"We'll go stock the bar," Sarah replied pulling Jenny from the room. "No need for drama and attitudes."
Lexi was fuming watching them leave the room. She couldn't believe what she had just heard. She wasn't letting Hap out of her sight tonight.
"What's got your panties in a bunch all of a sudden?" Bec asked her while organizing the groceries.
"Apparently Clay has something planned involving that skank fucking my old man. I heard them talking about it when I was coming down the hall."
"But I thought he has finally accepting you being together? He acts so proud of the way you've been stepping up for the club," Bec questioned turning around and leaning on the counter.
"No clue. Seems to be normal conniving behavior from my father but you best believe I'm not about to let anything take it away. I've given too much of myself and accepted things I said I never would for this relationship. Don't get me wrong, I love Happy. I love my family and I know I need the extra protection now especially because the boys and forever being seen the enforcer's old lady. But I'll be damned if my sacrifices were for nothing," She told her best friend with finality. "Let's get these salads made so we can get ready."
