"You know, when I was told that we'd take our first mission. This isn't what I had in mind." Naruto said as picked up a piece of trash with a stick.
"I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with Naruto. This is kind of stupid." Hinata said.
"I thought we'd be rescuing a princess or fighting enemy ninja. Not chores." Kiba said.
"Come on guys. This is a write of passage for every new genin." Kurenai said while leaning against a tree with her arms crossed.
"Then how about this." Naruto said and suddenly, one hundred shadow clones appeared. "You know what to do." Naruto said to his clones.
"Naruto, the point of these missions is to build teamwork. You can't just cheat." Kurenai said.
"Cheating? We're ninja, and ninja don't play by the rules." Naruto said. 'Man, I bet Kakashi sensei is taking his team on a real mission." Naruto said.
"I tell you what. Get all the trash picked up and I'll treat you to some ramen." Kurenai said and to her and the rest of the team's shock, all of Naruto's shadow clones had their bags filled.
"Offer ramen and Naruto could probably take over the world if he wanted to." Kiba said.
Kurenai sighed. "This kid is too much." Thought the woman. "Alright, let's go report to the Hokage and then we'll go for ramen." Kurenai said.
As team eight was walking, Naruto was casually spinning a Hiraishin kunai on his finger. It didn't take the team long to arrive at the Hokage tower.
"Lord third, team eight has successfully completed the mission. In fact, the entire river is cleaned." Kurenai said.
Hiruzen raised an eyebrow. "The entire river? Well then, let's see what else we've got. You can pick weeds, babysit, catch Tora, and." Hiruzen said before Naruto cut him off.
"Absolutely not! I'm tired of these damn chores that the civilians are too lazy to do!" Naruto shouted.
"Naruto, settle down." Kurenai said.
"No, fuck that. The civilians hate their demon but don't mind making him wipe their asses!" Naruto shouted. Instantly, Kiba and Hinata shot glances at each other about Naruto referring to himself as a demon.
"Naruto, calm down. You are only a genin. It takes time to work your way up." Hiruzen said in a calm tone.
"Lord third, please. I've trained since I was like three under some of the villages too shinobi. If it's because you're concerned about me, I promise I can protect myself and my team." Naruto said.
"Kurenai, where would you say your team is at?" Hiruzen asked as he raised his eyebrows.
"Truthfully, their teamwork is perfect. Not only is Hinata skilled with close range taijutsu, Kiba and Akamaru are great for the mid to close range. We then have Naruto as a wildcard.
Not only that, when it gets time to be serious, it's like Naruto is an entirely different. I believe they are ready. If it's because of their experience, why not send Hebi to assist us?" Kurenai asked.
"Huh? Who is that?" Naruto asked.
The Hokage nodded. "Iruka, please bring Hebi in and tell her that I need her for a mission." Hiruzen said.
"Yes, Lord Hokage." Iruka said before exiting the mission hall.
"Who is this Hebi person? Is she powerful and strong?" Kiba asked.
"Must be if she is being sent as our backup." Hinata said. Meanwhile, Naruto remained silent as he looked at the smirking face of the Hokage.
Entering the room, a purple haired woman with a dango stick entered. "Lord Third, special jonin Anko Mitarashi has arrived." Iruka said.
"Hi Kurenai, genin." Anko said before her eyes went wide at seeing Naruto. The two stared at each other without showing any form of emotion until she turned away.
"What's the mission Lord Hokage?" Anko asked, recomposing herself.
"You will be joining team eight in escorting one of the world's top bridge builders back to the land of waves. You are to remain there until the bridge has been built." Hiruzen said.
"Yes, Lord Hokage." Anko said.
"I am appointing Kurenai as team leader with Anko in second command. Iruka, please bring Tazuna in." Hiruzen said.
"Yes, Lord Hokage." Iruka said as he brought an older man in. "This is Mr.Tazuna.
"Is this my protection? Three bitches, an animal lover, and? Well, you look like the only real ninja here." Tazuna said as he looked at Naruto. However, he soon found a kunai to hi neck.
"Mr.Tazuna, I must respectfully ask that you not insult women in such a degrading way." Anko whispered.
"Right, my apologies. You all look like capable shinobi." Tazuna said.
"Alright, go ahead and pack for one month. We'll meet at the East gate in one hour." Kurenai said. The team nodded but Naruto flashed away.
"Tazuna, please excuse us for a moment. I'd like to speak with Kurenai and Anko." The Hokage said as the three shunshin to the Hokage's office.
"Anko, I'm expecting you to not let your emotions get in the way of your better judgement." Hiruzen.
"Lord third, how can I not? You know first hand about what happens. Besides, why am I having to tag along on a basic C rank mission?" Anko asked.
"I have reason to believe Tazuna isn't being fully honest. There is a good chance this mission can become a B rank, or even an A rank mission. However, having a treaty with Wave will benefit the village greatly." Hiruzen said.
"Yes, Lord Hokage. We will take care of the mission." Kurenai said.
"Anko, please think about Naruto. You aren't the only one affected by everything." The Hokage said in a stern tone.
"Alright. I understand Lord Hokage." Anko said as she left the office to pack.
Everyone arrived at the gate with the exception of Naruto. As they patiently waited, Tazuna began asking where the final member is.
"I'm right here. I figured there would be no point in rushing since we're moving on foot." The blond said.
"Anyway. We'll be moving in a T formation. I want Kiba in front because of his nose being able to pick up on any scents. I will walk behind him with Tazuna being behind me.
Hinata will be behind Tazuna and activating her Byakugan occasionally for any approaching ninja or bandits. Finally, Naruto and Anko will walk on the side of Tazuna to block any body coming to strike. Any questions?" Kurenai asked.
"Would you like me to create a few shadow clones to make a perimeter?" Naruto asked.
"No, that won't be needed. But good thinking. Alright, it will take us about a week to get there. We'll walk for seven and a half hours, rest thirty minutes, and repeat twice. Then we will rest for eight hours. This will be our routine to get us there within the week." Kurenai said and the squad proceeded towards the Land of Waves.
Night time came around for team eight and they decided to set up camp. "Alright, listen up. I want Kiba to get wood for a fire, Hinata will assist me in setting up camp. Naruto, you will get something to eat." Anko said.
"What the hell am I supposed to fish with?" Naruto asked with a deadpan tone.
"You're a ninja, figure it out." Anko shot back. Naruto flicked a kunai, and before he flashed, Anko received the middle finger. This made Kurenai chuckle and the others have their eyes go wide at Naruto's bravery.
It didn't take the group long to set up. Naruto returned with a Tiger over his shoulder. Once everyone finished eating, it was agreed that Kurenai and Anko would watch for two hours each. Naruto, Kiba, and Hinata would watch for a single hour and Kurenai would get the last shift.
With nothing occurring during the night and everyone completed their shift, they were back out on the road. As they proceeded on, the strange puddle that was seen by Hinata's Byakugan had two men wearing black robes appeared.
Instantly, they charged towards the group. Hinata instantly got in front of Tazuna while Kiba and Akamaru covered the rear. Naruto stood still as if he was frozen, showing no form of emotion.
"Get him!" Shouted the man on the left as he charged towards Naruto first. The blond pulled his hand up to cover his face and received a decent size cut.
Anko saw this and flicked a kunai that pinned the chain that connected to the man's gauntlet. As he was stuck, Anko released a barrage of snakes that released a poison. The point entered through the man's blood stream and killed shin within seconds.
Kurenai used a genjutsu and was able to knock out the other ninja. With the threat erased, the man spared was tied up and revealed to be Gorz, one of the demon brothers.
"Well, time to do what I do best, interrogate." Anko said as she walked to the man. Kurenai began questioning Naruto while Kiba and Hinata were yelling at Naruto.
"What the hell was that? You talk and act a big game at home. Yet, when it matters you freeze up?" Kiba asked.
Naruto glared at him with an uninterested expression. "I wanted to see if you two could survive." Naruto responded.
"Naruto, your hand is cut. Let me get that poison removed." Hinata said.
"Don't worry." The blond responded as he pierced his hand with a kunai. "I'll be fine." Naruto said as he asked Hinata to wrap it up afterwards.
