After everything that had happened over the past six months, Sonic still didn't understand it. Why had Eggman done what he had? Why had he tossed him into a cell, placed shackles on his wrists, shut him off from the friends who mattered the most to him? Why did he trust Zavok, of all… people? - Sonic wasn't sure that was the right word for the Zeti – to always guard his cell?

His thoughts haunted him as he sat on the cold bench, trying not to bemoan his fate. He was a world-renowned hero, for Pete's sake! He couldn't just give up so easily! He sighed, tried to stretch his legs, walking around the small enclosure. At least his legs weren't shackled together; that alone would give him some peace of mind. Eggman had been torturing him, though the methods of said torture were easily more said than done. Isolation was the worst, as Sonic had his own private section of Eggman's prison base. Other prisoners huddled together in the more crowded areas, their pained cries echoing in Sonic's ears.

The one thing Sonic never wanted was to show that he was desperate. Desolate. Depressed. He never wanted to show Eggman that he was losing hope. He bit his lip, swallowing the lump that had formed in his throat. As the door to his cell lifted, Sonic looked up defiantly as the egg-shaped doctor walked inside, his eyes expressionless behind his glasses. The rotund man said nothing at first, then beckoned Zavok to grab the defenseless hedgehog. As Sonic was lifted, a sick grin slowly spread across Eggman's lips. "Well, now, it seems isolation has done you some good. Now, will you tell me what I want to know?" He stroked his mustache as the three moved to another area, Sonic struggling not to become dizzy from the way he was being held upside down.

Biting his lip, Sonic didn't reply, simply staring the madman in the eyes. "Hmph. I would have thought things have changed by now. No matter. Zavok, if you would, kindly show our… esteemed guest his new suite," he said with a sharp turn of his heels. "I'm certain he will enjoy the new arrangements." Zavok, begrudgingly, obeyed the portly scientist as he took Sonic to his new cell, which proved to be dirtier and even more isolated than the previous one. "Here you go, rat," the Zeti huffed in contempt. "Maybe now you'll cooperate." Sonic still didn't reply. Instead, a short huff escaped his lips as Zavok exited the room, locking the cell door tightly.

As soon as the Zeti had left, Sonic exhaled the breath he didn't realize he had been holding, which came out as a muffled sob. He wasn't the type to cry easily, but here… alone, miserable, and scared, Sonic let his emotions go…

"Please, don't do this to me. I hate it when people cry…"
