"Jack?"
"Yeah Pip?"
"Do you remember...our Mom?"
"Of course I remember."
Jack paused in his work. He and Pippa were getting ready for another changing of the seasons, and while his sister finished up, he started frosting things over. He sat up against a tree and motioned to her.
"What's on your mind, Pips?"
She accepted his gesture and curled her small body against his lanky frame. "I don't remember much about her." She admitted.
Jack cuddled her close.
"She was tall, with brown hair and a voice that made you warm inside. She loved us even when I pulled pranks on her. Her voice...it was strong...and you felt if it was ever raised, you would shatter."
He smiled down at his sister "Did Manny erase your memory too? Because you should remember more than me on this. You lived longer."
"I may have lived longer, Jack, but it was like I had died with you. I drifted through life in a sort of daze. Most of my memories are sketchy."
Jack suddenly frowned and tipped his Sister's head up so she gazed into his mischievous iceblues. "What is that tone? What is that look? They don't belong there, not in your voice and eyes. No sister of MINE is going to look so down!"
She squealed in delight and giggled as he threw her on his shoulders "That's more like it! Now, let's ride!"
The two soared through the sky, laughing and tagging each other until the Wind decided to drop them in a snowdrift. Jack pouted "WIND!"
Pippa giggled "Don't blame Wind Jackie! Mother's here."
"I'm happy my seasons are getting along so well.. I'm happy to say that this year, there is no need for rushing, so you may frolic for today."
Pippa leaped in the air, Jack catching her "Yippiiiieeeee!"
She pecked his cheek and rode Wind, Jack trailing behind her laughing hystericly "Oh no you don't!"
Mother Nature smiled at her children.
Ever since she had brought back Pippa, Mother had seen a mass improvement in Jack. He was more true to his center, he didn't run off depressed as much. Above all, her boy relished in the changing of the seasons. Jack had long feared the day before, not wanting to step on toes or go in too early. Now he purposefully waited until the last possible minute to start his season, on the heels of his sister's masterpieces that were fall landscapes. He took moments to observe Pippa's handiwork before frosting it over.
The little Overland was the first step in healing her Winter, and so far she was doing a fantastic job.
