I cannot hold my excitement as I rush down the stairs of Number 12 Grimmauld Place. First, I'm going to Hogwarts tomorrow. Second, I'm finally getting my wand today as we're going to get our school supplies. In all truth, I've been practising magic for years now. I used to steal my parents' wands at night and practice spells. But every young wizard knows that only with your own wand can you truly produce the magic you were destined for. I can't wait to finally be able to use magic properly. I know that it must be more exciting if you're Muggleborn – to finally delve into the wizarding world. But even though I've grown up here the magic never ceases to amaze me. I love what you can do and create. Magic has never lost it's... well... magic.
Once I reach the hallway, I see my mother, father and twin stood waiting for me. No words need to be spoken as our parents apparate us to Diagon Alley. They've already got all of the money we need so we get straight to shopping.
"If you hand me your book list I can go and get them as you get your robes." My mother says in her stuck-up voice as she holds out her hand to me.
I hand her my letter. This will make the trip quicker. So, I guess it makes sense to do that. Once her hand has clasped around the parchment the three of us make our way over to Madam Malkin's.
Upon opening the door, the small bell jingles making me smile. Father walks over to the register to talk to, who I'm guessing is, Madam Malkin. Sirius pushes my shoulder and points towards a section of the store snickering. As I follow his finger I see why. Hanging on a rail is one of the ugliest robes imaginable. I can only just make out the sign above reading: 'Traditional Dress Robes'.
"Imagine having to wear that to a Ball!" I laugh to Sirius.
"You wouldn't catch me dead in it." He laughs.
Before we can continue laughing at the robes father comes over and tells us to go to our respective areas to get fitted. I follow his directions to find a small fitting room. It's empty apart from an obvious employee, who tells me to stand on some sort of raised platform and then starts fitting me.
Thankfully, it doesn't take too long and I'm out with all of my uniform in no time. I greet my father and Sirius at the register as we quickly pay and go to meet mother, who we meet outside of Flourish and Blotts.
"I think you two should get your wands now," Mother says, "We'll leave you at Ollivanders' while we go and collect your other equipment."
"Sure." Me and Sirius say together.
I think I might burst in excitement as we approach the rugged shop. Our parents leave us in front of the door and we immediately rush into the store.
Ollivander is stood behind the counter and looks at us as we step into the store, "Master and Miss Black, welcome!" He says upon our entry, "Let me see what I can do for you." He quickly rushes into the towering stacks of wands as he mutters to himself.
Sirius and I give each other a look of "what on earth is going on" as Ollivander keeps muttering to himself.
The famed wand maker soon came back carrying a box in his hands, "We will start with you, Miss Black." He says handing me the wand from inside, "Blackthorn with Unicorn Hair." I hold the wand tightly in my hand and wave it – not really knowing what he wants me to do. Immediately after I've shaken it a broom leaps up from behind the counter and smacks Sirius behind the legs causing him to trip over and land on his face with a thud and a grunt of pain. I giggle at his annoyed murmuring as Ollivander takes the wand from me saying, "No, definitely not that."
Once again, he disappears into the maze of shelves only to reappear with another box, "Red Oak and Unicorn hair." He says as I once again flick the wand. This sends a blast of water across the floor, which Ollivander quickly clears up although not before quickly taking the wand from me. I don't think he wanted me to cause any more harm.
When he appears again, he has a smile on his face, "Try this: Aspen and Dragon Heartstring." I take the beautiful, white wand and feel sparks fly up my fingers. I wave it and Sirius is flung backwards.
"So, that's not it." He mutters rubbing his head.
"I think you're quite mistaken, Mr Black." Ollivander says smiling at me, "That wand is quite a perfect match with your twin. I can already see them becoming one – they work perfectly together."
Sirius' face of absolute shock and fearful look at the wand is enough to make me burst out into laughter. I, of course, am not shocked. It was obvious from the moment I touched the silvery instrument that we were destined to work together. The wand really was gorgeous with an elegant look that made it look similar to polished stone or ivory. The design on it was incredibly simple, perhaps not to distract from the beauty of the wood. But the swirls seem to dance around my fingertips and I swear I can see magic pulsing through those veins.
Once I've looked up, I see Ollivander rushing out of the stacks of boxes again and what looks to be pink powder all over Sirius' face, "What the hell happened to you!" I laugh at him.
"Apparently, the Dogwood wand didn't like me." He huffs.
"Try this." Says Ollivander handing Sirius another wand, "Cedar and Phoenix Feather." Sirius takes the wand and waves it. I fell a strange warmth fill my chest. An unexplainable feeling of complete calm. It fills me, and then it disappears. I furrow my brow in confusion as Ollivander smiles and starts fussing with the wand, placing it into a box before holding his hand out for mine. I'm reluctant to give it to him but I know I must so I hand him my wand. My wand. It feels so good to finally say that.
We pay him the 14 galleons and head out with our new wands to see our parents, who are glaring at every person that passes. I can feel Sirius roll his eyes behind me as we walk over to them.
"How long does it take?" Mother sneers as we join them.
"Sorry, but there was two of us." and Sirius seemed to be an extremely acquired taste I say (the last bit only in my head, while internally screaming at her.
"Well, you better hurry up." She says grabbing my arm and dragging me closer to her before apparating us back to Grimmauld Place.
Once we're back in the hallway mother and father stare harshly at the two of us, "I think we should go over our expectations for tomorrow." Mother begins. I internally grown and hold back my eye rolls, "We expect you both to do the Noble House of Black proud by becoming perfect Slytherins. We expect that you do not interact with any Mudbloods, blood traitors or Gryffindors." I want to snicker at her knowing that both of us are planning to do the exact opposite, "Do you understand me?" She is now staring daggers at us.
"Yes, mother." We drawl in unison.
"Good now get upstairs and pack your trunks we want to leave at 10:30 tomorrow."

Well, this is the first proper part! I hope you like it. I was really surprised to discover that Sirius doesn't have a canon wand. So I made him one as I was doing Lyra's. And it isn't random... There is some meaning behind the wands... ;)
