I grab my trunk, which I've filled with all of my school supplies, and Rusty's cage. The barn owl ruffles his feathers indignantly at the movement and twitters angrily, "Sorry buddy but you're going to have to come. I don't want to leave you here all alone." He hoots at me comfortingly as I open the door and head downstairs.
I find my parents stood staring up at me as I walk into the hallway. The grimaces on their face are enough to tell me that it's after 10:30 and as there's absolutely no sign or sound of him I can tell that he's trying his hardest to get under their skin. At least it's unlikely that they'll be able to give him their full wrath for our lateness. Regulus, who had arrived down before me, looked rather sad that we'd be leaving. We might be exact opposites but we've always gotten on – him and Sirius less so. I know that I will miss him but truly that's nothing compared to the excitement of properly learning magic.
Suddenly a loud crash comes from downstairs and Sirius' trunk comes hurtling down the stairs. I quickly move out of its path to see Sirius running down behind it, "Sorry I'm late," He says in a fake, overly apologetic tone, "I just totally lost track of the time."
"You will be sorry." Mother hisses, "We cannot be late. What do you think that'd say about this family? What do you think people would think if you two missed the train?" She's about to start screaming at him more but father butts in.
"Walburga, that isn't helping. Let's just go."
"You're quite right." She says grabbing my arm as well as Reggie's and apparating us to Platform 9 and ¾.
I say a hasty goodbye to my parents, who once again remind us of their expectations, and hug Regulus, "Don't miss me too much." I say as I grab my trunk and Rusty's cage before following Sirius onto the Scarlett train.
Once we're inside we manage to find an empty compartment and sit down, "Thank God that we're finally away from there." Sirius sighs not even glancing back at our family as the train pulls out from the station.
"I couldn't agree more!" I laugh laying down across the seats. I mean, finders' keepers. Soon, however, I become bored so I reach into my trunk and grab a book. I'm just re-reading the Standard Book of Spells to try and get everything into my memory before I get to Hogwarts. That means that I can have more fun when I'm actually there.
I've barely finished the first chapter when I hear the door sliding open. I immediately look up to see who's there. In walks a boy, who's our age, with messy black hair, glasses and hazel eyes. He smirks and asks, "Can I sit here. I ended up in a carriage with some boring First Years."
"But aren't you a First Year?" I ask marking my page and placing the book beside me.
"Yeah, but I like to think I'm alive!" He says sitting down next to Sirius while closing the door, "So who are you?"
"I'm Sirius Black and this is my twin, Lyra." Sirius says, "You?"
"James Potter." He says, I think he's judging us by our family due to the fact that he seems to be staring me down.
"Please don't judge us by our family." I say harshly, sounding far too similar to mother than I would've liked.
"Yeah, we don't want to be in Slytherin." Sirius laughs, "Gryffindor seems far more appealing."
"Good," James says, "I'm glad I won't be totally alone. Both of my parents were Gryffindors and their parents, and their parents. Basically everyone I know in my family."
"I wish our family was like that," Sirius says with a small smile, "They're all Slytherins."
James seems like a great person. We spend most of the trip chatting and laughing together. I can tell that him and Sirius are going to be best friends, well unless Sirius get's sorted into Slytherin although at this point that probability is incredibly slim. I leave them as we approach to change into my ropes and come back to see them laughing hysterically. I know that a bromance is definitely forming.

This chapter is a little shorter than I like them to be but sometimes it's just better to break the story up a little! I'm currently absolutely loving this story and it makes me sad that I don't really have enough time to work on it as much as I want especially as I'm right in the middle of mocks! This is being uploaded earlier in the day than some of the other parts... That's just because I remembered that I had to do it. In other news I'm putting up my Christmas decorations today and that makes me very happy! I don't have much else to say so...
