Both Rachel and Brightborn went dark. Not resurfacing again for almost a year. But in that year, a lot had happened.
The first day after rescuing Helena and Shane from Brightborn, Roisin had Shane stop by the house. He didn't come over with everyone else because it was late at night, but she wanted Orla to meet her father. And ever since Rachel had told him that he had fathered a child - a little girl - he wanted to meet her too.
It was just Siobhan, Roisin, and Orla home when Shane knocked on the door. Siobhan answered the door while Roisin was getting Orla ready.
"Hey." Siobhan greeted, "Roisin is upstairs. She and Orla…"
Her sentence was interrupted by the fast paced footsteps of Orla running down the stairs. The little girl was very excited.
As she was standing face to face with Shane, she just stared up at him in wonder. Orla had always known and been told that she looked just like her mum, but now she can see that she looks just like her dad too.
'He's a clone, just like Mummy and Aunties.' Orla thought
Shane just smiled at his little girl. He didn't know what to say. This had all come as a shock to him. He was still processing the fact that he's a father.
Orla took his hand, "Don't be scared."
His eyes widened. He had been feeling a little bit scared. Natural fear of a new father, but he knew that it wasn't showing on his face. 'How did she know I was scared?' He thought.
He heard footsteps coming down the stairs and glanced up to see Roisin. Siobhan had ducked out of the room as Roisin made her appearance.
"Roisin." He uttered
"Hey Shane." Roisin greeted, "Hope Orla didn't say anything to freak you out."
Shane hummed, "Mhm…No. Course not."
Orla turned her head to her mother, "Mummy, I can feel him too."
"Yeah…okay. What does that mean?" Shane wondered
Roisin leaned down to pick up her daughter, "Um…well, Orla can feel how we are feeling."
"When you say 'us', do you mean you and I? Or…"
"Us as in her parents?" Roisin clarified, "No. Us as in the clones. Her cousin and brother can too, but she feels us more strongly."
"Oh…wow."
Roisin just nodded.
Lorcan wasn't home. He didn't want to meet Shane, so he had gone with his Uncle Felix back to the flat.
"So…Orla, what would you like to do today?" Shane inquired
Orla shrugged. She didn't know. Her excitement had faded a bit as her nervousness took over and she clung tightly to her mother.
Meanwhile with Felix and Lorcan. The sixteen year old could feel his sister's excitement at meeting her father, and he was happy for her, but a part of him couldn't help but feel jealous. He had never met his own father. He didn't even know who his father was. His mum had refused to tell him or even talk about it. She hadn't said it, but he had been able to sense that for some reason she was ashamed.
"Everything alright?" Felix asked
"Yeah...No." Lorcan gave a sigh, "It's just...It's Orla."
Felix looked concerned, "Is she okay?"
"And her father." Lorcan added
Felix nodded, "Oh...I see."
"Do you know who my dad is?"
Felix shook his head, "No."
"Does my mum know?"
Felix let out a breath, not saying a word.
"When I asked her about him, I sensed that she was ashamed. It's because she doesn't know right?"
"Okay, Lore, what you have to understand is that your mum...she...life was hard for her when we first moved to Ontario. She was just trying to fit in." Felix explained
Lorcan hummed, "That's what I thought. She doesn't know."
Felix walked over at sat down beside Lorcan on the couch, "If you want to look for your father, I'll help you."
"What's the point? I don't even know where to start." Lorcan said, "Do you?"
"Truthfully, no, but nevertheless, if you want to, I will help."
Lorcan smiled, "I know. Thanks Uncle Felix."
As much as Lorcan really did want to search for his father, it would be a mute point and most likely a fruitless search. His father could be anyone, and he didn't even know where to start. Who even knows if his father still lives in the Ontario area, or if he ever did. It was hopeless.
At the same time though, Felix was thinking that he would find Lorcan's father, even if he had to search the whole Earth. Kira had met her father, Orla was now meeting her father. Why should Lorcan be any different? Why should he be punished and denied the basic right of a child just because of his mother's mistake. Felix didn't think it was right. Every child deserves to know who their father is.
Hope you enjoy. Comments are greatly appreciated. In fact, they keep me going.
