The morning came quickly. Em rolled over in his sleep only to land his butt on the hardwood floor. "Holyshit.." He almost yelled. Opening his eyes slowly the realisation hit him, he never made it to the bedroom. There was the empty bottle of whiskey on the table and he was still in his wedding tux. Standing up in his wobbly feet , he walked out of the study only to meet with silence. The big mansion was very quiet, all he could hear was the birds in the garden and the vehicles passing by on the street. He shrugged and walked forward trying to find the bedroom.
Once spotting the bedroom he opened and looked around. The bed was neatly made but no sign of Regina, not that he cared. The closet had one side organized with Regina's clothes and he could only assume the vacant space was his. The luggage was still unopened. Em pulled out a grey t-shirt and a jeans from the suitcase without even bothering to arrange his side of the closet. He went to the bathroom to freshen up. His stomach growled entire way to the kitchen. Opening the fridge he could see everything to cook a light breakfast but he closed it not feeling to cook. He picked up the keys to his beetle and drove straight to the nearby diner.
Regina aka the Mayor of Storybrooke walked into her office. Katherine her secretary and best friend stood shocked to see her back to work this quick.
"Regina , what are you doing here? You just got married yesterday remember? " Katherine walked along her bestfriend as she entered the office.
"Doesn't feel like staying home " is all Regina said.
"What do you mean ? Did anything happen last night ?" Katherine pushed her luck hoping that her friend would reveal the truth.
"Nothing happened. As it turns out we are complete opposites and there is no chance in hell I am going to tolerate that drunk idiot " Regina gritted out her teeth as she mentioned her so called husband.
"That bad huh? " Katherine amused. "Well lets put it this way, at this rate I might have to get a liqour licence of my own" Regins sighed as she walked around organizing her works for the day. Katherine shook her head and went back to her desk.
At the diner, Em sat on a table by the door reading the morning newspaper. A chirpy young brunette with short skirts and white shirt came the table.
"Rough morning with the Mayor wife huh? " She asked Em as if she lived with him.
"How did you know I am married to the Mayor?" Em asked quite shocked.
"Its a small town everybody know everyone. So had a fight ?" Belle, the waitress pushed again.
"That's none of your business and I assume you are the waitress so please be kind and get me a coffee and cheese burger " Em said anger laced in his voice.
'Woah dont jump on me, was just asking. Coming right up with your order" Belle walked away taking his order.
He was getting quiet bored with the day, with no work to do for a whole week, he was pretty much eating his brain out. Em worked at the Boston PD before getting married to Regina. Due to pressure from his family and Regina's father, he was given the job as the new sheriff of Storybrooke. But he has to wait until the paperwork is complete. He quickly picked up the phone from the coffee table of the mansion where he spend the afternoon watching tv. Dialled his only best friend Ruby.
"What's up champ? Had fun last night? You know fun that took you this long to call your bestfriend" Ruby teased from the other side.
"Yeah so much fun, geez I forgot the last time I had this much fun in one day " came the reply.
"Uhoh... I smell some trouble. Whats going on ?" Ruby's voice changed to concern.
"Nothing, listen I am pretty much bored here. Wanna go out for a drink ?"
"Bored? Where's Regina?"
"Don't know, didnt see her and I dont care. Are you coming or not?" Em pushed
"Okay I will be there in a few minutes" Ruby disconnected the line.
Ruby stayed just outside the city in a hotel room knowing well that her friend would need her. She took her car and drove straight to 108 Mifflin Street.
Regina opened the door to her mansion completely exhausted from the day's work. The lights were off which seemed odd but she shrugged it off. On the way she stumbled upon the boxes that were still unpacked which moslty had her "husband's" stuff. The house was the same way as she left this morning. There wasn't any sign of Em. She shrugged and made way to her bedroom. Freshened up and quickly made a small dinner for just herself. She didnt bother to make anything for Em, she was too exhausted with everything. Not that she cared if he ate or not. She wasnt ready yet.
Regina was reading a book when she heard the doorbell ring. She signed knowing well who that might be. Opening the door she was met with a very drunk Em holding on to the wall with his whole body unsteady. Regina wanted scream and throw him out but she composed herself and walked back inside. Em followed or rather crawled his way inside. He made way to the kitchen and opened the pots and pans to see it empty. "Nothing to eat " He thought. His stomach growled but he ignored and took a mouthful from the almost empty whiskey bottle in his hand. Regina looked for a brief moment and retreated to the bedroom shaking her head.
Em somehow made to the bedroom, shrugging off his jacket and boots all the way. He managed to freshen up without injuring himself. He pulled the covers on his side of the bed. He could see Regina laying on the bed with her back turned against him. Once getting comfortable, he turned on the tv and started watching random shows. A little while later he heard crying from Regina's side. It got louder as she sobbed uncontrollably. Em was annoyed beyond measure, he increased the volume of the tv to the maximum and all Regina could do was put a pillow over her ear and cry.
