Thank you guys for the wonderful reviews. I know you guys have been loosing patience with Em. Hopefully this chapter will bring some justice.
THUD..
Em looked over to Regina's side of the bed, only to find her on the floor. He jumped and rushed over to the other side. Regina was laying there ,eyes wide open and her whole body was jerking. Realisation dawned to him , she was having a panicked as he looked around trying to get something. He qucikly took the near by metal box and pushed it in Regina's hand but she knocked it over. Em was frantic he tried to make Regina hold on to something but she wasnt having it. He could see her eyes bulging out and saliva coming out of her mouth as she shook vilolenty. Finally he was able to get her to hold on to some keys he found in the room.
Without wasting time he picked her up and carried out to the car. He was still drunk but somehow they managed to get to the hospital. Regina was unconscious by the time they reached the hospital. She was pulled into the ER followed by doctors and nurses. Em stood outside hands on his head. A million things crossed his mind.
The doctor came out after a brief moment. He saw her talking to the nurse as they walked towards him. "Are you with the patient ?" The doctor asked.
"Yes" Em replied.
"What's the name of the patient?" Doctor asked Em
"Reg...ree...something that starts with R .I dont remember "
"Her age?"
Em shook his head.
"Atleast do you know if she has any medical condition ?" The doctor was more than pissed.
Em shook his head again.
Doctor sighed "Whats your relationship with the patient?"
"Husband" Em replied.
"What do we do now?" The nurse asked the doctor.
"Forget it. Its useless to ask him. He is drunk. Lets do our job" Doctor left Em at the hallway and rushed to the ER.
He stood there watching as the doctor left. He didnt know what to do but feel empty. Slowly walking to the ER door, he saw Regina through the tiny glass window . The doctors were trying hard to revive her heart. He could see the chest pads as they made contact with Regina and her whole body jumped up. That scene right there froze him. He didnt realized it was this serious, for a moment he faced his worst fear...again. Em didnt even notice that his eyes filled up just like the way it did 5 years ago. He felt like he was there all over again, just like 5 year ago and he couldnt stand it.
He splashed water over and over in his face trying to get out of the drunk state. He picked up the phone and dialled his best friend.
Walking back to the ER, he saw the doctor coming out.
"Doctor, her name is Regina, she is 28" He informed the doctor.
"Its okay. She is out of critical condition now but we will put her in observation for the next 24 hours. " Doctor replied
'Thank you doctor" Em felt relieved
"See its not my place to say but even if you dont like the relationship, atleast try to find out if the person living with you have a medical condition thats fatal " The doctor added . Em could only nod.
"I have prescribed some medicines, make sure she eats something before she takes them " With this the doctor left him.
Em quickly collected the prescription and bought the medicines. He waited outside Regina's room for her to wake up.
Regina slowly opened her eyes and squinted at the bright light. She felt like she was hit by a truck. Looking around she realised that she isnt in her bed and events from last night came rushing. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Em walking in with a tray of food and medicines.
"The doctor said you have eat something before you take medicine " He said to Regina and sat down on the nearest chair.
"It may take a while for me to finish eating, you can go " Regina replied quietly,
"Its okay, take your time I will wait' Em decided to stay until she ate something.
Regina sighed as she took a sip of the orange juice Em brought her.
"Have you had this before? I mean the seizures " Em asked Regina
"Why?' Regina raised an eyebrow at the question
"The doctor told me to know these things in case ...you know"
"Yes, I have. Twice actually because of Daniel" Regina replied as a single tear rolled down her eyes.
FLASHBACK
Daniel met Regina for the first time on a new year's eve. He worked for a telecommunication company. It was a temporary job until he gets a job at the airlines cabin crew which he studied and loved. He was going for his nightshift when he saw Regina on the street. Among the hundreds of other youngsters partying around, his eyes happened to land on Regina who was standing on the seat of a Bentley which her dad drove. She had her hair free as she waved everyone through the sunroof. Regina had convinced her dad with a beer to take her out that day just to see all the celebration. She looked down for a moment catching her father drinking and driving, silently scolding she took the bottle from him and went back to join the people on the street. All Daniel saw was a girl with a beer bottle waving and shouting which left him unimpressed.
"I am never dating a girl like that " He accidentally said that out too loud to his friend standing next to him. Out of the corner Regina heard it and quickly turned to see the person who said it. For a brief moment their eyes met. A very confused Regina and not so amused Daniel.
Regina was in her final year Law college, she was real rebel. The whole college loved her but most of the professors just couldn't tolerate her. She brings cellphones to the class even after multiple warnings. On that very day the same thing happened. While attending the class , Regina's cellphone vibrated under the desk. She looked down to see it was her dad.
"Hey Daddy is calling. What to do ?" She asked her bestfriend Katherine who sat next to her.
"Don't you dare pick up, she will kick you out" Katherine warned as she pointed at the professior.
But ofcourse Regina didnt listen. She pushed her head down and took the phone ." Daddy, what is it? This better be emergency, I am in class. What... seriously you called me now to ask when mom's birthday is. You forgot again " She said the last part a bit too loud and winced as the entire class went silent.
She came out under the desk smiling sheepishly. "Regina...get out" The professor yelled.
Once out of the class she called her father back but her service provider kept saying she cannot make the call. Regina was already getting frustrated. She looked through the window to see Katherine inside the class. "Shhh...shhh..." she signaled Katherine to look at her. "Whats the customer care number for my sim?" She mouthed Katherine who was trying hard not to get caught. She wrote it in a piece of paper and pulled up for Regina to see. "I cant see " Regina replied.
Defeated Katherine started mouthing the numbers " ..." when Regina mouthed again she cant hear it Katherine said it out loud totally forgetting that she was in class.
"Katherine..Out" professor yelled again.
Regina laughed as her best friend stepped out. Somehow she managed to call the customer service.
Daniel just started his work in customer service a week ago. He picked up the call just came in " Thank you for calling Airphone customer service, my name is Daniel. How may I help you today ?" He responded cheerfully.
"Fix my connection dude. I have been trying half an hour to make a phone call and it keeps telling me I cant. Now fix it " a very agitated Regina yelled over the phone.
This was the first time Daniel received an angry customer that he started sweating. "Sure maam, let me check that for you. Please provide me with your number " Daniel responded politely keeping in mind of what he learned in training.
"Dont you have those information in front of you when you get a call " Regina was losing it.
Daniel gulped "Sorry maam, I didn't get the info, please give me your number so that I can pull it up"
Regina rushed her number in one breath which caused Daniel to freak out because he only caught the first four numbers. He was sweating bullets now.
"Maam can you repeat that a little slower this time please" He requested.
Regina composed herself "You idiot who gave you this job man. I will tell you one more time listen very carefully"
"Sure maam, please" This time again a very nervous Daniel missed the last four digits.
"Maam could you please repeat the last four digits" Daniel wished he was killed there.
"You stupid, idiot, fool are you listening or what. I am so angry right and dont make me kill you. This is the last time if you dont catch it god knows I am gonna get you fired" Regina threatened.
Finally Daniel was able to get the details. He found out that she hasnt paid the bills and that's why her service got disconnected.
"Regina Maam, I checked the details. It looks like there is payment pending and the service has been disconnected. It will be restored once the payment is made" Daniel responded feeling much confidence.
"I already paid the bill yesterday" Regina gritted out. How dare he accuse her of not paying the bills. She is the daughter of Henry Mills and bills were never her concern.
"I am sorry maam, it hasn't been updated yet. Please do one thing, collect the receipt from where the bill was paid and call us back we will check what went wrong "Daniel suggested
Regina wasnt having any of it. The next thing Daniel knew was Regina's voice booming in his ears as she started cussing.
"Maam, please stop saying things like this. It highly unprofessional...maam I work here...I dont know anything..." Daniel almost cried. The phone disconnected few seconds later.
He turned to his friend, tears in his eyes" Bro, this lady on the other phone was talking out of line.I didnt do anything. She was saying those awful things not even my mother told me stuff like that " He whimpered.
"Hey..hey cool down. You are new to work that's why but dont worry it will get easier. Did you get her number ?" His friend asked
"Yea I have her number " Daniel replied wiping his tears.
"Do one thing dial her number in your phone and say whatever you want to say to her. Let's see what she does" His friend suggested
"Okay bro, done. She will regret for what she told me" Daniel took his phone and dialled her number
