The Adventure Begins

"Ouch!" Rex yelled.

"Don't move, this ointment is the best to heal your wounds" Kandia calmed him down.

It was night, and everyone was eating a delicious amount of berries that Kandia had given them as a reward for saving and defending them from those evil pokemon. While Rex also ate, the Kangaskan healed him with some ointments that she had for cases like this. He had fast healing power, but it hurt enough for the Charmander boy.

"I still don't understand what happened," Dylan said once he finished the meal and looked back at the converted cell phones, "This device made you evolve?"

"Does it mean that we can all evolve?" Mina asked, fumbling with hers, "Which button should be activated?"

"Rex didn't press any buttons, Mina" Flora explained, "Just the cell phone… or whatever that is now, flew towards him and gave him the glow"

"How did it feel, Rex?" Zack asked.

Rex looked at his little claws trying to remember that moment well.

"I felt energized, I felt… that I was able to stand up to those ruffians," he said.

"It is normal. Evolution is a process of transformation beyond normal capabilities" Kandia explained to the group as she once again placed the ointment on Rex, "When you evolve, you gain more power than before and some overconfidence goes to their heads "

"Thank God it didn't happen to Rex..." Flora commented, "To all this, why were you so upset with the ruffians?"

"My adoptive father used to tell me every night about the value of heroes," said Rex, "At the school where I went, there were several who abused the weakest. I looked at them angrily because I wanted to be a real hero, so I got in trouble a couple of times for trying to be a hero…"

"The intention is good, although it is not always the right one" Kandia taught him as she finished the healing, "You are a good boy, it shows"

"Thanks Kan… I mean, Aunt Kangaskan" Rex told her, "But if I evolved, why did I pre-evolve again? Isn't that supposed to be permanent?"

"Yeah, I miss that. I guess they are definitely the chosen humans that legends tells"

There was a minute of silence from the group, because it was hard for anyone to assimilate everything that had happened: being called to the Pokemon world, becoming one, fighting, evolving and saving other Pokemon. The next thing was that they needed an action plan.

"Then I guess we should go to Azurview" Rex proposed standing up fully recovered, "We should talk to that Alakazam sage, what do you think guys?"

The rest looked at each other; however, they knew that this was the best they could do for now. So, everyone accepted the proposal. Kandia admired the determination of the boys.

"Okay, then I'll give you something that will help you," she told them, "It's the least I can do to help myself. Wait a moment"

Kandia entered what appeared to be the back room, but was actually a cellar.

"You're in luck!" she told them as she brought a travel backpack, "You see, I own a Pokemon warehouse. Years ago, there were groups of Pokemon's Rescue Teams that helped others from natural disasters and stuff, but when peacetime returned, they began to dwindle. Fortunately, I still have the things that every adventurer has to carry…"

Saying that, she put the backpack on the ground and proceeded to show them the things inside: First, there were a few different colored bandanas. Kandia proceeded to hand these to each and put them on.

"These scarves will protect you from most of the effects of any attack such as poisons, stuns and others…" she said as she put the last one on Rose, "You may have to go through areas where the Pokemon are highly territorial, so this will be your best defending. Also, they look good on you"

"Thank you," Rose told her when she was done, and the rest did the same.

"You're welcome," she replied as she stuffed a bag into the backpack, "Here are some berries and apples for your trip. I wish they had more, but it will only last three days..."

"Don't worry," said Zack, "we'll manage."

"I trust you will. But you just need to rest for now, tomorrow you can start your journey."

(In the meantime, at the intersection of worlds…)

"So they are...," Dialga mentioned as Palkia showed a dimensional image of the group preparing for their journey the next day, "But, why children?"

"There is a saying in the human world: the best man is the one with the heart of a child" Giratina mentioned, "Kids are innocent: they have the light of a future, his power is the power to grow. We already saw the first one: he achieved an evolution at a higher level "

"Momentary, yes, but powerful," Palkia intervened, "Though they still need to master it better so as not to immediately return to their base form. In short, their test is just beginning…"
