Regina woke up the next day with a fresh mind. She didnt sleep last night. Her mind kept thinking about what Ruby said.'May be I could give him a chance' she thought. Em woke up early as today was the first day he will be back on work. Regina was preparing coffee when Em came downstairs all dressed up in his new uniform. For a moment Regina couldnt take her eyes off her 'husband' in uniform. He looked rather handsome or dare she say sexy. Em became a fitness freak after he started working for the forces. He used to spend hours at the gym and he liked learning different forms of martial arts. He wasnt like other fitness freaks who would do it for the looks. He actually knew kung fu and boxing. And he would practise it everyday. To be true he hasnt been able to do any training after marriage as he didnt had the space to do so in the small town. Ofcourse there was a gym but it wasnt of his taste. While trying out the uniform he felt a little unfit and he kept in mind to arrange a place for him to train.

Regina snapped out her thoughts when Em walked into the kitchen and poured himself a glass of juice from the fridge. Regina quickly made a cup of coffee and slid it on the table where Em sat drinking the juice. Em looked at the hot mug of coffee and back to Regina. She thought it would be a nice gesture to atlease make him a coffee. But Em felt unwanted. He made the effort and she insulted him infront of everyone by admitting that she has nothing to do with him. He decided to keep it that way. If its a divorce that Regina wanted he will give it to her, and there wasnt any space for emotions. He has already build up his walls.

Regina was disappointed when Em finished his juice and walked away. She knew it wasnt going to be easy but still she hoped that he would reciprocate. It is going to be a long journey. She sighed as she got ready for work.

The first day was a bit easy. Storybrooke is a town where there is hardly any crime. The only people called the station were the old lady whose cat seems to climp up the trees and get stuck, pongo the dalmatian of who runs away time to time and ofcourse Leroy the drunkard who fights with people double his size. He got in good terms with Graham the deputy and they spent most of the day playing dart.

Regina was in her office lost in thoughts when Katherine walked in. "Regina, the school principal wanted to know if you are free for..." Katherine stopped talking as she looked at Regina. "Regina...Regina" Katherine tapped on the desk to get her attention. Regina once again snapped out of her thoughts.

"Sorry, were you saying something? " She asked Katherine, who was looking at her with raised eyebrow.

"Clearly, you weren't listening. What's going on in your head?I have been noticing you since you came to work." Katherine asked a bit concerned.

"You know, he isnt so bad as I thought" Regina replied with a small smile.

"Who?"

"My husband" Regina mumbled which made Katherine chuckle.

"And what with the change of mind. Only yesterday you were referring to him as let me quote " drunk idiot" " Katherine teased Regina.

Sighing Regina explained everything Ruby told her. "Wow, that's some past." after hearing the entire story Katherine responded.

"I feel bad. You know I only heard the news of Daniel being dead from a third person. And it took me 3 years to make a decision. But Lily died in his arms. He witness the life drain out of her. I cant imagine what he had been through. "

"Yeah, its bad. May be you could heal him with time " Katherine suggested.

"May be." Regina replied quietly once again lost in thoughts.

Regina opened the door as she heard the bell ring. Em was standing at the door with a take out bag in his hand.

"You aren't drunk" That was first thing that came out of Regina's mouth.

"You dont like drunk people" Em replied casually as he walked inside. A small smile spread Regina's face. He placed the paperbag on the table. After freshening up he sat quietly and ate his burgers and fries. Regina didnt comment even though she made dinner for both of them. He left without out word. Regina decided to give him time. Em fell asleep rather earlier that day. Regina sat beside him on the bed, she couldn't sleep. Somehow she needed to find a way to make things work. But she didnt know how.
