The next day, Emily is out baby shopping with her friend Matthew. David had gone to work and Derek was shooting hoops at the basketball court. Spencer was bonding and playing with Sean, and Penelope was at a friend's house.

From the living room, Aaron and Jennifer could hear Spencer and Sean playing and laughing. Spencer was usually so serious about his studies that he rarely ever laughed. It was a pleasant sound, but it didn't halt any of the grilling questions that Jennifer was firing at Aaron who was just trying to get to know her.

"Look, JJ, I'm not the bad guy here."

"I just don't want you to take my sister away. I can't lose another big sister." Jennifer replied, "And if you hurt her, I'll kill you."

Aaron just laughed at being threatened by a little nine year old, but then he saw the serious look on the blonde's face. "Oh, you're serious?"

Jennifer nodded as she crossed her arms, "Yeah. I am."

"Okay. What do you mean by you can't lose another big sister?"

Jennifer sighed as she told Aaron about how her sister Roslyn was killed by her foster father almost three years ago.

"I'm so sorry, JJ, but you have to know that I have no intention of taking Emily away from you. She will always be your sister. Okay?"

"Yeah. Okay." Jennifer agreed

Suddenly the sound of laughter stopped and there was a blood curdling scream heard from the backyard. Both Aaron and Jennifer ran out to the backyard to find Spencer on the ground, holding his arm and crying.

"Sean, what happened?" Aaron asked

"Spencer got stung by a bee." Sean said, moving over towards his older brother.

"I want Papá!" Spencer cried

Jennifer raced over to hug her little brother, pulling him into her arms.

Aaron inspected Spencer's arm. The bee sting was a little bit red and it seemed to be swelling.

"Spencer, have you ever been stung by a bee before?" Aaron questioned, speaking in a calm voice

"No. It hurts."

Aaron nodded, "I know."

"You need to call my dad." Jennifer said

"JJ, look at Spencer's arm." Aaron told her, "He's allergic to bees. We need to get him to the hospital."

Jennifer looked at Aaron very seriously, "Call my dad!"

"I don't have time to argue with you and neither does Spencer. We need to get him to the hospital." Aaron spoke firmly as he picked up Spencer from Jennifer's arms and carried the six year old through the house and out to his car. He knew that Jennifer would follow.

Sean was just behind his brother's heels and Jennifer was chasing after him. She wasn't trying to be difficult. She was just worried about her brother. In the car, Aaron gave her his phone so she could call David to meet them at the hospital.

Jennifer talked to her father the whole way to the emergency room and he arrived about a thirty minutes after Aaron did. Because of the urgency of a severe allergic reaction the doctors were already seeing Spencer.

David turned to face Aaron, "Thank you, Aaron."

"It's no problem. My grandma was allergic to bees so I knew the signs. Spencer said he'd never been stung before so..." He trailed off

"No. It's everything." David added as he hugged Aaron, "Thank you."

David decided not to call his other kids. They were all having fun and there was no reason for the whole family to sit in the hospital waiting room for a bee sting.

Jennifer was still worried about her brother, but she was better after talking with her father on the phone. Right now it was Sean that had a bad feeling in his stomach.

Standing up, Jennifer walked over and sat down next to Sean, "Everything alright?"

"It's my fault." He stated simply

"What is?" Jennifer wondered

"Spencer getting stung. I was the one that wanted to play in the backyard."

Jennifer glanced over at Sean, "Oh...it's not your fault. You didn't know, and I don't think you wanted Spencer to get stung."

Sean, with his head down, shook his head, "No. Spencer's my friend."

"I'm not mad at you." Jennifer told him as she took his hand.

He looked at Jennifer, eyes wide, "You're not?"

"No. Could have happened to anyone."

Sean gave a slow nod, "I like your family."

"You and your brother are pretty cool too."

Meanwhile at the basketball court with Derek, it was about mid afternoon. Derek had noticed a scrawny kid watching him. He stopped shooting the baskets and walked over to the kid.

"Hey kid, want join me?"

The kid pointed at himself, looking shocked, "You talking to me?"

Derek nodded, "Yeah. What's your name?"

"Luke." His voice was soft.

"It's nice to meet you, Luke. I'm Derek."
