SmackDown opened with a video montage of the McMahon family finally getting rid of Sable last Sunday at No Mercy, and then a shot inside the arena and the pyros goes off as the fans cheer. Next, Stephanie McMahon's music hits, and out she came with her mother, Linda McMahon, to an ovation. Linda and Stephanie made their way to the ring and then walked up the steel steps to the apron, where Stephanie opened the ropes for her mother, and Linda smiled and then stepped into the ring. Next, Stephanie stepped into the ring and was handed a mic by Tony Chimel. Stephanie looked at the fans and smiled at them.
"Welcome to Thursday night SmackDown and home of New WWE Champion, my brother Vincent McMahon Jr." The fans cheer. Linda chuckled, and Stephanie smiled.
"Now, we have an exciting show for you, the fans, Undertaker taking on the new WWE US Champion Big Show, and of course, the New WWE Champion will be here later tonight," Stephanie said. The fans cheer again.
Stephanie drops the mic, exits the ring with her mother, Linda, and heads to the back as a promo of the World Tag Team title match between the returning Hass & Benjamin and The SmackDown Tag Team Champions, The Guerreros, is shown. SmackDown goes to commercials. When SmackDown returns from the break, John Cena hits the ring for a tag team contest and for a brief moment. Cena wanted to show some respect for Kurt Angle and his effort to retain the WWE Championship, and sure enough, Cena began talking trash about Angle to no end. The other participants come into the ring, and the tag team matchup is underway, the former champions, Kurt Angle and Benoit, vs. Cena and A Train.
Backstage the McMahon family watches the monitor in the General Manager's office, seeing Angle and A Train start the match and some mat wrestling back-and-forth action, but the momentum clearly shifts for Cena when he hits a modified Michinoku Driver on the Olympic Hero. Cena covers Angle but only for two counts. A Train tags back in and continues the beatdown, but when attempting a 2nd rope splash, but Angle moves, A Train lands on his feet.
Angle hits the release reverse German that dropped A Train on his shoulder pretty hard. Benoit comes in and goes after Cen and applies the Sharpshooter to Cena, but Cena counters it with a foot to the face. Angle manages to get A-Train up for the Angle Slam and drops the straps, but Cena is the legal man and sets up Angle for the FU, which gets countered into the Ankle Lock. A Train blocks the ankle lock with a bicycle kick to the face of Angle.
Benoit and A Train fight on the outside while Cena grabs his chain. Train grabs a chair, which is used to cave Benoit's head in. Unfortunately, Benoit hits Angle inadvertently with the steel chair. Angle takes exception and begins beating on Benoit mercilessly, with both men able to execute their respective signature submissions successfully and move on each other. The match is a no-contest between the two teams because of Angle and Benoit's colorful history.
The McMahon family watched Smackdown; Derek was not there; he was home in Greenwich because he needed to pick up his tux for his wedding that is on Saturday. Sabrina sat at the desk looking over some papers, and Vince noticed that his eldest daughter looked sad because Derek was not there with them. Vince knew they would soon be married and become inseparable after their wedding.
On the monitor, SmackDown continues as the McMahon family relaxes and waits for Vincent McMahon Jr.'s segment. A single match went by, a promo for the Undertaker take on New WWE US Champion Big Show. SmackDown went back to commercials. When SmackDown returns from the break, Lesnar and Big Show are in the back; Lesnar doesn't like that he is not the WWE Champion. Big Show doesn't know what to say.
A video package from Hardcore Bob Holly shows the bump he took that broke his neck from Brock Lesnar. Bob Holly told Brock he didn't finish the job and that Hardcore is coming back to end your career, Brock Lesnar. Then, SmackDown goes back to commercials. When SmackDown returns from the break, a tribute is shown to the late member of the Legion of Doom, Michael "Hawk" Hegstrand.
New WWE US Champion Big Show comes out to a chorus of boo, and then he is followed by Undertaker, who comes out to pops. Taker hits the ring and begins brawling with Big Show. There was nonstop action throughout the match; Taker grabbed Big Show by his throat and then chokeslams for thethree3 count and the win. SmackDown goes to commercials.
When SmackDown returns from the break, New WWE Champion's music hits Vincent McMahon Jr. with his father,r Vince. Vincent holds up the Championship, the pyros go off behind them, and the fans cheer. Vincent and Vince head to the ring, up the steel steps to the apron of the ring, and step inside the ring. Vince took the mic and said, "Ladies and Gentlemen, My son Vincent here is only the second McMahon ever to be the WWE Champion." The fans cheer and chant "Vincent" now.
Vince handed the mic to Vincent and said, "I am honored to follow in the footstep of my father here, Vince Sr., by being the WWE Champion. I am going to be a fighting champion."
Brock Lesnar's music hits, and he bounces around on the stage as the fans boo him for interrupting the New WWE Champion. Brock heads to the ring and hits the ring; he snatches the mic away from the Champ.
"I want my title match," Brock demands.
Vince, Vincent chuckles, and Vince says, "Brock, you remind everyone of Sable." The fans cheer.
Brock stares at Vince. Sr. Vincent steps in front of his father to protect him from Brock.
Vince Sr. said, "Brock, you tap out to Angle at SummerSlam, and that means you go to the back of the line. You want a shot at my son; you will have earned it the old fashion way."
Brock attempt to attack Vincent Jr. by he is ready for him; he knocks Brock out of the ring with a clothesline, and the fans erupt. Vincent taunts Brock with the title and begs Brock to come back in, but Lesnar retreats up the aisle way. SmackDown goes off the air with WWE Champion Vincent Jr. and his father Vince Sr. staring at Brock from the ring.
