David arrived at work the next morning where he greeted his exhausted looking partner and friend Jason Gideon.
"Long night?" David asked, his usually bright eyed and ready to work partner.
Jason put his head down on his desk, "You have no idea." He picked his head back up, "You inspired me and I took in a foster kid."
"Ah…first night?"
Jason nodded, "Yeah. A five year old little boy. He got up six times during the night. Kept crying out for his older sister."
"Oh. Poor kid."
"His sister's in the hospital. I'm gonna take him to visit her after I pick him up from school."
David hummed.
"How's Aaron doing?"
"He's awake. Sean didn't want to go to school. He just wanted to be with his brother. Somehow Emily convinced him to go to school."
Jason smiled, "She really has a way with him."
"Yeah. He's become very attached to her. As we all have to him and his brother."
Meanwhile with Emily at school, she was sitting in homeroom taking notes on the lesson. Suddenly, she felt water running down her leg. For a moment, she thought she had peed herself, which was surprising considering she hadn't felt like she'd had to use the bathroom. Shocked, she dropped her pencil and glanced down at the puddle on the floor. It wasn't the yellow color that she'd expected. It was clear, like water.
Letting out a gasp, she wrapped her right arm around her stomach, which was now quite large. Emily raised her left arm to attract the teacher's attention.
The teacher turned around a few moments later, "Yes, Emily?"
"I need to go." Emily said urgently, still holding her stomach, grimacing at the feeling of the first contraction, "My water broke."
The teacher's eyes widened, "Oh..okay. Yeah. Go."
Leaving her backpack behind, Emily waddled out of the classroom, calling her dad on the way out.
"Hang on, bambina. I'm on my way." David told his daughter as soon as he picked up the phone and heard she was in labour.
While she was still on the phone with her father, she heard the sound of his engine revving and then the siren.
As David was getting Emily checked into the hospital, the nurses were settling her into a room and she panicked about Aaron missing the birth of his children. She was crying and begging to either be put in the same room as him, or have him moved to her room. She wanted her boyfriend and the father of her babies.
A few hours later, Gideon arrived with Rian, bringing the little boy to see his sister. He also had Derek, Jennifer, Penelope, Spencer and Sean with him, having picked them up from school for David. However, Luke had strolled into the hospital just moments before.
Derek stared, in shock, when he spotted his friend, the one he had played basketball with, but Rian ran right over and hugged Luke tightly.
"Lukey!" The little boy exclaimed
The thirteen year old scrawny boy, picked up the little five year old, hugging him back just as tightly.
"It's good to see you again, RiRi." Luke said, before glancing up at Derek, "Hey Derek."
"Where you been, man?"
Luke sighed, "My...I moved unexpectedly. Sorry I couldn't tell you."
"I wanna see Emily." Sean whined as he walked over to David, climbing up to sit on his lap.
"And I wanna see Tiny." Rian chimed in.
Gideon nodded, taking the five year old from Luke before guiding the young teen with one gentle hand resting on his back, "You can come with us, Luke."
"Thank you, Sir."
"Emily isn't quite ready for visitors yet. She's still in labour." David explained
Penelope went and sat down beside her father, but Jennifer took a seat across from them, choosing instead to sit by Derek.
"When are the babies gonna be here, Papá?" Jennifer asked
"They'll get here when they get here." Spencer spoke up
In the labour and delivery room, Emily was giving birth to her babies. Baby A was crowning.
Emily was lucky the Aaron was able to be by her side. He wasn't able to sit up yet, but a doctor had pushed his bed into her room, putting it up against hers. As Emily pushed out Baby A, Aaron was able to hold her hand.
The first baby entered the world in much the same way as all babies, with a shrill cry. Baby B came about fifteen minutes later, and didn't utter a sound a first.
"What's wrong with my baby?" Emily questioned, her voice laced full of worry and concern while she had Baby A laying on her chest.
A few moments later, Baby B let out a shrill cry, much like her brother had before her.
"So...what are the babies names?" The delivery doctor asked
Emily glanced over at Aaron, smiling, "Well, baby a is Noah Aiden."
"And baby b is Kira Lucille." Aaron chimed in.
"Beautiful names." The delivery doctor commented.
