Chapter 19: Full Speed! the Chaos begins
The chosen kids, now gathered around Dialga, were replenishing their forces after that great battle against that Legendary Pokemon. The least injured, Dylan, helped everyone else up.
"Thank you…" Rose told him as she got up and began to search in the backpack, taking out half a dozen Oram berries .
They each returned to their base form again and ate the berries to recover. Then they gathered around the unconscious Dialga.
"Is he free from the dark atom?" Luke asked, "How did we get it?"
"Pokephones seem like they don't just have the power to evolve us" Dylan replied, "It seems like they release light that purifies without having to fight. Rex used that to purify Dialga."
Rex looked at his Pokephone again, marveling at that miracle, well, who knows if that move could have completely defeated him. But there was still a question on his mind: he hadn't trained so much to master the Dragon Tail move , how could he do it? Pokephone thing or his?
As he kept thinking, a growl of something big woke him up: Dialga's eyes slowly opened, but these were no longer red with hate, but the natural red color. However, the kids still did not trust him and became defensive.
"Chosen Children" he told them, seeing them and reassuring them, "Don't worry, the darkness does not control my soul any more. Thank you for saving me… it is an honor to be in front of you"
"Thank you…I think" Zack replied, "Mr. Dialga , Darkai …has escaped…"
"I know boy. I barely remember things while I was possessed. However, this chosen boy" (looking at Rex), "He made the right choice: if one of you is missing, it is impossible for the Pokemon world to see the light of the sun again… Now, you must follow Darkai"
"But where did he go?" Mina asked.
"I think it will go after Palkia who dwells in the Western Spacial Rift. And you must hurry: with my powers, I might not be able to defeat Palkia as well…"
Before it continued, an electrical surge erupted from the altar where the gears of time were located. While this was happening, something strange was happening: the sky would suddenly darken and dawn, as if time had gone completely crazy.
"Oh no!" Dialga exclaimed as he tried to walk towards the stone altar (remember that tail strike had left him quite dazed), "The power of the gears of time has also been corrupted! If it is not stabilized, it may cause the destruction of time itself!"
He tried to approach the altar, but some kind of wave of dark energy repelled him like a maximum-security electric fence. Rex then had an idea.
"Guys!" he told his friends, "Let's combine our Pokephones' lights!"
The others understood immediately and so they did. Then, just like on the beach at Treasure Town, the Pokephones glowed together and came together in a powerful beam of light that collided with the dark energy of the altar and the gears. The next second, the shield was gone and the gears returned to their blue color with green runes.
Dialga breathed a sigh of relief, for being a legendary, he was quite concerned about the stability of time.
"Thank you very much chosen children" he told them, "You have avoided a catastrophe of great magnitude. Just as they have saved the flow of time, you must avoid the warping of space that Darkai will cause "
"How do we do it?" Rose asked, "We don't know where in the West that place is and Darkai is ahead of us."
"It's true… did you bring Lapras? Well, if so, you must say goodbye to her. This part of your journey will be faster than her and it will not be through the sea: it will be through the sky.
"Through the sky?" Luke asked.
"That's how it is. Now go, no fragment of Time must be wasted. Those who will help you reach your next goal are fast. Maybe there is just a little time to say goodbye…"
Without further ado, he walked away from them and, with his weakened powers, wrapped them in a kind of protective bubble, which took the boys at full speed to the edge of the Hidden Land. Just before landing, they managed to spot Lapras on the shore of the Sea of Time.
"I see, so that happened" Lapras said upon hearing what happened, "Dialga is right: you shouldn't waste valuable time. However, before you leave, I have something to tell you."
The chosen children sat on the shore of the island. It was a strange sensation because, as it was the Sea of Time, there was no water; just empty.
"In this short period that we met, I have felt nostalgic," she told them, "You remind me of my old friends. There is no doubt that you are the Poke-Destined of this new age. I feel honored to have brought you."
"Thank you very much for helping us, Lapras" Rose told her, "Without you we would never have gotten here"
"Yes, and we promise to stop Darkai until the end" Rex said, "We won't let him get away with it"
"That makes me breathe easy," Lapras replied, "I will return to Treasure Town and inform Wigglytuff that you will cope with this arduous mission. In every era, new legends appear."
While they continued with their farewells, the sound of something approaching at high speed was heard: it sounded like a diving object and they managed to appreciate two objects that were moving like a jet. One was white and light blue, while the other was white and red. They flew with speed, but at the same time, with grace.
The two Pokemon gently descended on the shore. So, the Poke-Destined met the Legendary Pokemon twins.
"We have come on behalf of Dialga" said the blue one, who apparently looked serious, "He commissioned us to transport the chosen kids to the Spacial Rift... are you the chosen children?"
"Indeed," Lapras confirmed, pointing to the Poke-Destined, "They are the Poke-Destined who freed Dialga and many other Dark Pokemon. They need your help"
Latios only looked at them for a moment before saying, "Hmm, I still don't believe that all the chosen ones are children and achieve things that even to us seem impossible…"
" Hey!" Zack responded somewhat indignantly, "We've been through a lot for you not to believe in us!"
"Excuse my brother Latios's attitude" the red greeted them, "He 's usually like that when he tries to protect me and he didn't want to risk me coming here. He cares too much about me."
"The things that are happening in the sea and the sky are not to be taken lightly…" Latios replied.
"What things happen?" Dylan asked.
"While flying, we have seen various dark skies, shattered ground, and erupting volcanoes…" the Poke-Destined gasped, "The world has started to fall apart since they disturbed the balance of Time"
"But we've restored the flow…" Rose tried to explain, pointing to the Pokephones.
"Nothing can fully restore power to the gears of time" explained Lapras, "What you have done is stabilize it for now, Dialga is weak and may not last more than a day like this. You must give him back the power that Darkai took from him."
"Wait, it means that if these are the consequences of time being disturbed..." Luke started to say, "Will the world collapse if space warps too?"
"It's a completely safe statement," Latios told them.
"Then let's not waste any more time!" Rex exclaimed, "We must stop Darkai! Will you help us?"
"Of course!" Latias told them, "Now, climb up and hold on as best you can! My brother and I will go at maximum speed"
Rex, Dylan and Rose climbed on Latias, while Mina, Zack and Luke climbed on Latios. As they were about to take off, Lapras managed to tell them:
"See you soon Poke-Destined! All hopes are on you!"
With that last support, the kids said goodbye to Lapras and then held on tightly to the back of Latios and Latias as they started with a speed greater than a racing motorcycle starting. In less than 10 seconds, they broke through the barrier that hid the Hidden Land from the Pokemon world.
However, the late sky they expected to see never appeared. Instead, there was a gray cloudy sky, from which water fell in little trickles, the wind was picking up. Clouds traveled across the skies in heaps as if drawn by invisible horses, and every minute the sound of lightning could be heard in the distance.
But that seemed to be seen in an instant because, at the speed at which Latios and Latias were going, they had crossed more than three leagues of ocean in a second and, in less than a minute, the barrier of the Hidden Land completely disappeared. The chosen kids stood their ground against the speed of their new allies as the wind whipped in their faces.
And in a few minutes they saw it: an island in the middle of the sea, where the sky above it was turning red and black… The Spacial Rift.
