A/N: To CoralSue3, I'm sorry for your loss.

We're almost done with this arc of the story. Then with the story in total. Can't believe it. Nearly four years on this.

Anyways, hope you enjoy. Hoping to work on something else soon.

Happy holidays if I haven't said it already. Stay safe.

He paces back and forth. The fluorescent lights of the hospital are blinding. Pain radiates in his fists. He can't remember much of what's transpired in the last three-ish hours or so. All he remembers is hearing Olivia scream and turning around to see her on the floor, hands clutching her stomach. Each time he closes his eyes, he goes back to that moment. To the cold fear that gripped his spine. To the idea of losing his family all over again. If he stops, he's afraid he'll hear Karen calling for him. He's afraid he'll hear Mellie calling out for him. He's afraid of being helpless. Again.

"Do we know what's going on yet?" Harrison calls, rounding the corner.

Fitz looks up just in time, halting before they can collide. "I got kicked out for yelling at the nurse."

"Let me try," Harrison says. He moves towards the monitoring pod, but stops. A small blonde, dressed in nurse scrubs exits Olivia's pod, sliding the glass door shut behind her.

"How is she?" Fitz asks. "What's going on? What can I do?"

"Sir, please. I understand this is terrifying, but Ms. Pope is in the best place she can be right now."

"Is she okay? Is the baby? Does she need me?" The questions fly out of Fitz's mouth, one after the other. He unintentionally crows the nurse. His nerves are shot and each time he tries to control his body, the anxiety of the unknown seeps into his bones. If he doesn't hear something on Olivia in a minute, he's going to implode from worry.

Harrison puts a hand on Fitz's left shoulder. "Come on, man, you have to take a step back." He tugs on Fitz's shoulder. "Is there anything you can tell us? I'm Olivia's brother and this is her fianceé."

The nurse gives Harrison a once over. Her green eyes narrow in an attempt to gauge the veracity of his claim. She looks up to Fitz. Her face softens.

"I'm not letting you in there yet, but she'll be fine. The doctor's recommended a round of IV infusions. Her electrolytes are low and she's severely dehydrated. On top of that, her blood pressure is in the danger zone. We'd like to omit her for a couple of days just to monitor her."

For the first time since colliding with Edison, Fitz exhales. His body deflates and he breathes. Really breathes. Air fills his lungs and he can feel himself tearing up as the fear dissipates. His baby is fine. Olivia is fine. Their child is fine. A sob chokes his throat and he nearly falls over. His palms land on his knees and he keeps himself upright before gathering himself together long enough to stand again. He runs a hand over his face.

"Can I see her?" Fitz asks. "I just - I need to see her."

"Your hands," the nurse nearly screeches. She seizes Fitz's hands.

For the first time since getting into the hospital, he takes a moment to consider what he might look like. Eyes roam over his knuckles. They're bruising. Splotches of angry red and darkening purple pop along his hands. There's shards of glass embedded in his skin. "I - uhm." He's dazed; his brain nearly unable to grasp onto his pain. Adrenaline still pumps through his veins.

"Why don't you sit here and I'll be back to clean your hands up. The last thing your fiancée needs is to worry about you."

"I'm fine. I'm okay. I just want to see her!" His voice raises slightly.

"Fitz, man, I've known Liv nearly her entire life. You walk in looking like you do, she's going to go through the roof. You heard the nurse, her blood pressure is already in the danger zone. Let's focus on keeping it down, rather than sending it up." Harrison reasons.

Finally the fight in Fitz deflates. "You're right."

"Sit down in one of these chairs and I'll come back to take care of you."

He sits. Harrison takes the empty chair next to him. The beeping of machines, the sound of sneakers against linoleum, and the hushed voices of lingering nurses fills the silence that buds between them. The silence is loud, deafening, but Fitz can't even muster up the words to ask Harrison why he'd gone to Olivia's. The last he'd spoken to Harrison, they'd been conspiring to topple Cyrus's kingdom. Harrison had been on his way to investigate several other accusations against Cyrus. Accusations that left Fitz not only disillusioned when his now past occupation, but wondering what would happen to the kids he'd taken care of for nearly ten years. What about the other kids?

"I met with my friend at the DCPD. Gave him the statements from the kids. They'll probably want to talk to you soon. Ask you what - if anything - you've seen from Cyrus. Gotta tell you, Fitz, this could very well start linking up to be something big." Harrison says.

"Good. Anyone that can hurt someone so helpless deserves whatever they've got coming to them. Is that why you were at Liv's?"

"Yeah. I'd just told Eli and he said you two were at Liv's, packing. How'd Edison get there?"

Anger buds in his chest again. Fitz's fists clench against his knees. "I don't know."

"Where was Huck?"

"I told him to go home. I was there with Livvie." God he was stupid. How the hell had he made such a stupid decision?

"She's fine. The baby's fine." Harrison tries to reassure.

"I didn't know it was going to be him. All I heard was Olivia scream. When I opened the door he was standing there, screaming at her."

"Well, wherever he is now, he's going to go down for a minute. I couldn't let you kill him."

"Thank you for bringing me back."

"You're family now, man." He claps Fitz on the back just as the nurse reappears, wound kit in hand. "I'll go check on Liv while you get this finished."

She feels like someone's put her brain in a blender. Everything aches. The tug of the IV in her right arm stings. Her head hurts and she just wants to sleep. The last year, let alone the last month has felt barely a step above a fever dream. Everything is happening now. Right now. Edison. The baby. Marriage. Fitz. If only she could slow time somehow, she'd feel better. Right now, though, she is terrified. All she wants right now is Fitz. And when the door to the emergency room pod slides open, for a moment she thinks she'll get her wish. But the moment is fleeting. She finds Harrison sliding the door closed.

"Hey, Liv, if you need some water, all you had to do was ask." He smiles, coming to a stand still at the foot of the bed.

She offers up a small laugh. "The baby's okay. Where's Fitz? Does he know?"

Harrison nods. "Yeah, he said something about going to the bathroom and then being right in. Did Davis do anything to you? Did he touch you?"

Her eyes slip closed and she shakes her head. The sound of Edison's voice rockets around in her brain. "He'd only been there maybe five or ten minutes before Fitz got back. I - I didn't look through my peephole. I thought it was Fitz. If I had, I wouldn't have answered it."

"And if he weren't a shit dude, he wouldn't have shown up at all."

"Did - did Fitz. Edison isn't dead, is he?"

"Bruised. Maybe missing something teeth. Cracked jaw, but I managed to pull them apart before Fitz could snap his neck."

"I should've thrown a frying pan or something at him. I just couldn't think. He was there. And he was yelling at me about us and about people demanding he resign and it just...it was so overwhelming." Tears swell in her eyes. She hates how Edison makes her feel. Years ago if he'd even looked at her, she swooned. Now? She feels stupid. Young. Helpless. Like all those men are laughing in her face again.

"Hey, you've been through the ringer, kid."

"I just want all of this to end. You know they're admitting me. Apparently my blood pressure is through the roof. I wonder why." Her tone is dripping with sarcasm. "Did anyone call my dad, yet?"

"I just wanted to check in on you first. Let you and Fitz have a minute before Eli comes barreling in. Remember when you got tossed from that horse and he threatened to shut the entire hospital down? You x-ray tech threatened to call the cops."

Olivia smiles warmly. "Yeah. I guess it'd be better to actually get into a room before I call him. And when I do, can you make sure he doesn't put a bullet between Edison's eyes."

"Your dad still scares the shit out of me. Don't count on that one."

The sliding door peels back before Olivia can say anything and in two swift steps, Fitz is at her bedside. He tugs her into his arms and kisses her forehead so hard that it causes Olivia to flinch. The IV in her arm tugs and she has to wedge her free arm in between them. "Baby, you're going to smother me."

"I'm sorry. I should've gotten there sooner. I shouldn't have left you. I'm sorry." Fitz whispers as he sits up. The sliding door closes with a soft click and Olivia realizes that Harrison's left.

"We're okay. Maya's safe." It barely hits her that she's already named the bean in her belly. "I'm fine. We're okay. Are you?" she asks, reaching up to touch the blossoming bruise underneath his left eye. The flesh is tender and she nearly chides him for the fight, but she knows why he did it. She'll never fault him for protecting her. "They're admitting me for a couple of days. Just to make sure my blood pressure comes down and my electrolytes go up."

He nods and she watches as a large tear spills over his right eyelid. He leans over and kisses her chest before placing a kiss against her hospital gown covered stomach. "I'm staying, too. I'm not leaving either of you. You scared me, Livvie. I can't lose you. I can't lose either of you. I won't make it this time around."

"We're not going anywhere."

When she wakes the next morning, she finds Fitz stuffed into the vinyl chair at her bedside. He snores softly, his curls sticking up in several directions. He snores softly. She looks up to the bag of IV fluids and finds that it's nearly empty.

She's thankful that her father hadn't decided to come down last night. She wouldn't have been able to handle both he and Fitz hovering over here as they already did, but in half a hospital room. Without thinking, she grabs the TV remote and flips to the news, looking for anything to block out Fitz's snores and the mechanic beeping on a hospital floor.

The mindless flip of the channels distracts her until she catches a glimpse of Edison's face. She flips a channel back, to local DC 7 news. There's a breaking news alert. Across the bottom of the channel reads: Former D.C Intern Comes Forward with Rape Allegations Against Florida Senator Edison Davis.

Olivia gasps. Her jaw nearly drops and she almost can't believe it. The news flips forward to a press podium. A sharply dressed man stands at the podium. His suit is navy and his eyes a deep green. Behind him stands a young woman who Olivia can't help but notice has a striking resemblance to her, but she doesn't look much older than 21.

Flashbulbs blast in the gathering crowd and reporters clamoring over each other to ask questions. It's clear Olivia's missed the initial announcement. Nonetheless, she finds herself leaning forward. Unable to grasp what she's seeing and hearing.

"Do you think he did it?" Fitz's voice sounds and it causes her to inadvertently flinch.

"I don't know."

"Livvie, you can tell me if he ever did anything like that to you."

Before she has a chance to say anything else, the lawyer speaks. "My client would like to publicly thank Miss Olivia Pope for speaking out again Senator Davis's history of sexual abuse."

Again, Olivia's jaw drops. Another breaking news alert rockets across the screen that now splits it into two. The press conference plays side by side as two news anchors at a large desk come into view.

"We're receiving word that Senator Davis is being rushed to John Hopkins Sibley Memorial Hospital."
