Hey! I'm here! Okay so I worked all night on this to get this out for you all. You are all amazing and so patient! Thank you! I'm actually really nervous about this chapter, I haven't edited this as much as usual so I apologise for any problems. I'd love to hear what you all think!
Bella had finished her shift in the garage and was currently working in the clubhouse. Going between being a bartender and doing laundry for the men who almost seemed to live there. It had been a long day for her and she knew it was only going to be longer. Still she didn't complain and went about her tasks with a smile. It was a year of her life, a year to prove herself. If she could hang out with the supernatural without getting herself killed or going insane for two years, then she could be the club bitch for a year.
"Prospect!" Tig, her sponsor, yelled from the doorway of the clubhouse.
"Yeah?" Bella called back as she stocked up the bar.
"Repo! Let's go!"
Bella smiled as she stepped out from behind the bar. She hadn't been allowed to go on a repo before. It had always been the men. She was excited about this.
"Wipe that smile from your face!" Tig snarled at her as she went to change her Kutte for her Teller-Morrow shirt. Taking her Kutte with her into the tow truck. She took it everywhere.
"Sorry Tiggy," Bella said, trying and failing not to smile as he shook his head and smirked at her. He was always barking at her, but ninety percent of the time he did it with a smile or a smirk so she didn't take it personally.
"You ready for this? People tend to be assholes when you take their shit," Tig said, climbing into the driver's seat.
"I'm ready," Bella gave a nod as he started the truck up.
"You packing?"
"Always," Bella replied, suddenly feeling the weight of the gun against her skin that was constantly tucked into the waistband of whatever pants she was wearing.
"Good girl, Princess," Tig nodded as he pulled out of the lot. "There's crowbars and shit in the back as you know, guns are a last resort. Violence isn't."
"Nervous?" Bella asked as they traveled down a familiar road, checking her phone for missed calls or messages. Nothing. It had been a day since she had last heard from Happy, she tried not to worry but it wasn't easy.
"Why the fuck would I be nervous?" Tig looked at her like she was crazy.
"Last time we were in this truck together we got ambushed and you got shot. Twice," Bella said, she thought that should be obvious. She kept checking her phone. If he rang now she was taking it as a sign and having her gun in her hand ready to go. She refused to get shot. Again.
"If I got nervous everytime I rode with someone I got shot with I'd be nervous all the fucking time," Tig snorted with a slightly crazed grin.
"That's reassuring," Bella witted with an eye roll.
"Hey, I ain't dead yet," Tig said, still grinning. "Plus I got Tomb Raider with me."
Bella chuckled at that. "Does that make you the butler?"
"No, that makes me the guy who's going to kick your skinny ass if you don't shut the fuck up. Prospect," Tig snarled without any heat and a smile still gracing his lips. His blue eyes held humor. "How ya getting on with that anyway, seriously?"
"Seriously?" Bella raised her eyebrows not sure if this was a trap or a test or something.
"Yeah, no repercussions. I promise Princess," Tig added, humor gone now. He at least sounded like he really wanted to know how she was getting on.
"Okay," Bella shrugged. "It's not easy for sure, you guys can be jerks. But I know you all love me anyway so I shrug it off and get on with it."
"Huh, gonna have to rack it up a notch if you're okay," Tig said and Bella's eyes widened, hoping he was joking. "Relax Princess," he snorted and then chuckled. "I said no repercussions and I meant it."
"Thank god," Bella let out a breath. Just because she was doing okay didn't mean it wasn't hard, didn't mean sometimes she didn't get home and question her sanity doing this. Didn't mean she did not feel lonely after a day with the guys who used to be her family and were now slinging insults at her and making her run pointless and sometimes disgusting errands. She knew it was going to be tough and she hadn't been wrong.
"Just keep remembering we love ya, even when we make ya feel like we hate your guts," Tig said, still seriously. "You got this. If Juice can make it through his prospect year, you sure as shit can."
Bella laughed at that, half the time the guys still acted like Juice was a prospect. He was a sweet guy and sometimes seemed too sweet for the Sons. Then she had seen him angry and she changed her opinion slightly. There was that edge to him, that hardness and Bella had instantly realized that Juice was just as tough and capable as the other men.
"Here we are Princess, keep ya wits about you. We go in, we get it hooked up, we get the fuck out, yeah?" Tig said pulling up outside of a run down house, a rusty blue ford in the front of it.
"Got it," Bella replied, her eyes scanning around the area. All the houses looked run down, with messy front yards. No-one seemed to be about.
Tig and Bella worked quickly to hook up the ford. It was easier than Bella had thought it would be, just the same as a regular tow. The whole time she kept glancing around them, she didn't want anyone sneaking up on Tig or her.
She frowned as she did see movement over the street. Her eyes half on the job, half on what was going outside one of the run down houses. This house had a faded red slide in the yard and a pile of bald tires. A porch swing rested on one chain, the rotten wood on the bottom scraped along the floor lopsided. A huge man was trying to be covert as he passed a white bag over to a thin looking woman who was hanging out of the battered white door. The woman was rubbing her arms and jiggling from foot to foot.
"Tig," Bella said in a quiet voice.
"What?" Tig snapped.
Bella nodded her head at the house over the road. She knew that Son's kept drugs out of Charming, no-one was supposed to deal within the city limits.
"Ah shit, fuck. Alright, grab your kutte and grab a crowbar," Tig said, straightening up and cracking his neck, his blue eyes lit up even more than usual. Bella thought the Sergeant at Arms looked excited at this development. Bella on the other hand felt her heart beating fiercely in her chest.
Bella hurried to put her Kutte on, pulling off her Teller-Morrow shirt first, she rushed around the back of the truck and grabbed two crowbars passing one to Tig as they marched across the street.
The woman saw them first, her eyes with deep, dark bags under them widened and she hurried to close the door. The man turned and saw them. Bella expected him to run or something, instead a huge smile crossed his face before he started laughing.
"Seriously? Your backup is a little girl? Man have you guys gone soft," the man said, his voice deep and uncaring.
"Princess?" Tig said, stopping at the porch steps, his eyes going to her and darting to the man.
Bella felt her heart stutter at the huge man with the muscles on the porch for a moment, before she straightened her shoulders. He wouldn't be harder to take down than Happy and she had her weapon. She needed to do this, for the Sons, to prove herself.
"You sending a girl in for you? It ain't gonna hold me back, ya know that right bud?" The man sent a wide smile at Tig.
"Don't expect ya to man," Tig said, sounding relaxed, she saw the tightness in his shoulders though and the way his hand had drifted down to his holstered gun. He had her back and although she was under no illusions that Tig would let her get her ass kicked, he wasn't going to let her get killed. She guessed that would have to do.
Bella made her eyes take in the way the man moved as she walked closer to him, her hands firmly clutched around her crowbar. He stayed flat footed, his weight shifting slightly to his back foot as he went to throw a punch.
Bella blocked his punch with the crow bar and took out his knees in one fluid motion.
"Hot damn Princess," Tig grinned up at her. "What ya think of the little girl now?"
The man was at her feet clutching his knees and biting his lip to keep from groaning. His face was screwed up in pain and he was rocking slightly.
"Now, shithead, who ya dealing for?" Tig asked, walking over and lighting a cigarette.
"Not telling you shit!" The man spat out in a painful breath.
"Suit yourself. Princess, why don't you give him some more incentive?" Tig grinned at her and Bella brough the crowbar down again. This time hitting his hands that were clutching at his knees.
"Ow, fuck!" The man yelled as tears leapt into his eyes. Bella started feeling a bit bad about this. But the man was dealing, to a house that obviously had kids in it. What if those kids were being neglected because of the drugs he was selling. Or what if they got hold of it by accident and ended up hurt, or worse. No fuck him. He was ruining people's lives. In Charming, in her town.
"Who ya work for?" Tig repeated himself, leaning casually against the porch and slowly smoking his cigarette. Not a care in the world.
"Ain't saying anything!" The man ground out between clenched teeth.
"Go for a home run," Tig said with a little nod.
Bella swung again, this time catching his shin bones. The force of the blow had her arms vibrating. At the man's small scream she couldn't help but feel like scum for doing this. She was basically torturing him. Right?
"Who?" Tig asked.
"Darby! Man, Darby! Fuck!" The man yelled.
"See wasn't so hard now, was it? We'll be paying your boss a visit later. Charmings off limits. Next time I'll tie you up like a pinata and let her swing until something fun comes out," Tig said, flicking ash on the downed man and walking calmly away. Bella followed after him, her crowbar over her shoulder. The pit in her stomach ached. She tried to tell herself she had done the right thing. After all, the dealer wouldn't be coming back to Charming. No way. It didn't help her feeling of guilt though.
At the tow truck Bella quickly changed back into her work shirt and sat next to Tig as he rolled out. Their work done.
"You okay?" Tig asked.
"Yeah," Bella nodded, lying. That pit in her stomach still ached, still weighing her down.
"Gotta keep scum like him outta our town," Tig said, handing her a cigarette. "They start getting leyweigh, they start targeting schools, kids. Getting kids to deal for them. Can't have that Princess. We might not always be the good guys, but those are for sure the bad guys. That woman, she had kids. She couldn't pay, it'd be the kids who would get the price taken off."
Bella took a deep drag of her cigarette and nodded. The knot in her stomach unwinded a little.
"Shit like that's normally my job, needed to see if ya had the stones for it though. You got some big danglies," Tig said with a nod before he turned on the radio and stopped all other conversation.
Happy kept his eye out of the window at his ma's, looking for the black SUV that would be bringing his Spitfire to Sonny's. It had been two weeks without her. Speaking to her on the phone wasn't enough. He wanted to run his fingers through her brunette locks, to see the fire in her doe eyes, feel her wreathing under him. After this break for Christmas the vote would be put in for his transfer. If it went through he wouldn't have to be without her for so long again. He might be fuckin' pussy whipped but he didn't want to go that long without pussy again.
"So am I going to meet this woman that has you pining after her?" His ma asked from behind him.
Happy winced, he hadn't told her about Bella, he knew she wasn't going to approve. He didn't know how she knew, but that was his ma, she could just read him. No one else but his Girly had been able to read him in all his years. It was a trait he exploited and used to his advantage at any given opportunity.
"I'm not pining," Happy grunted over his shoulder.
His ma grinned, her eyes twinkling. "So there is a woman then?"
Happy sighed. "Yeah ma, there's a woman."
"Oh Happy, how long has this been going on? Were you never going to tell me? Don't I deserve to know if you've met someone?" His ma had a habit of taking a subject and running with it.
Happy rolled his eyes as he faced the window again. Not pining, just missing pussy, that was all.
"Not long. Would've told you eventually."
"Is she coming here? Are you introducing us, is that why you're staring out of the window like you're on a telenovela?"
Happy pinched his eyes closed and tried not to groan at the woman who had given him life. His ma was the best woman, but she was also like a dog with a bone when she wanted to be. "She's not coming here ma. She's spending Christmas at Sonny's."
"Oh mijo, no," his ma said while shaking her head. She had that disappointed look on her face that stung him every time. Her light brown eyes, so different to his own, creased with the weight of her disapproval. "Tell me it isn't one of that girls friends."
"So what if it was?" Happy scowled.
"Sonny's been chasing you around for the last four years, mijo," his ma said as though he was stupid for not realizing that. Maybe he was, but he hadn't known. The brunette woman had always been tight lipped around him.
"Didn't know, she never seemed interested," Happy shrugged feeling himself tense. This could make for an interesting holiday. He didn't give a shit, he had feelings for his Spitfire, he didn't care for any other bitch. She was his. What he did care about though was if she got a hard time from the aunt she was just meeting.
"So this woman, she is friends with Sonny?"
"It's her niece," Happy muttered.
"Happy! You're running around with Rane's daughter! How old is she, barely more than a girl!" Happy closed his eyes at his ma's words. He knew she wasn't going to approve, but shit did he not need the ballache of her going off on one.
"She's nineteen ma," Happy said, he then sighed deeply. Admitting this next part could go either way. His ma knew about the club and its traditions but she didn't know too much about his personal life. Being private about his personal shit extended to his family as well more often than not. "Gonna make her my Old Lady."
As the silence in the small house dragged on, Happy turned from the window to face his ma. He had expected a lecture, disapproval, maybe even the wooden spoon thrown at him, but not silence. His ma was looking at him with soft eyes now that brimmed with tears. A small smile graced her still pretty features despite her years. Her hands were pressed to her heart.
"Old Lady? Oh Happy, I didn't think you'd ever find the one. I want to meet her. Make sure she's good enough for you and can take care of you," his ma said, her voice full of emotion.
Happy shook his head but more fondly than annoyed. He guessed the two most important women in his life should meet. It wasn't like his ma could hate Bella after all. She could cook and all that bitch shit but was also too headstrong to put up with his shit. Kind but could fuck someone up who messed with her family. He thought she was fucking perfect, his ma was sure to see some good in her. And this was the first time he'd ever had a woman for his ma to meet. He guessed that he could let her have her moment.
"I'll ask if she's got time," Happy nodded once, as far as he was concerned the conversation was over. And not a moment too soon as he saw Georgia's car pass the house to park up outside of Sonny's. His eyes instantly sought out the familiar figure of his girl. She wasn't limping or favouring one side over the other. She was dressed casually but still in her kutte. His chest unclenched ever so slightly as he saw she wasn't injured for once.
He was so engrossed in looking her over to make sure she was as good as she said she was that he hadn't noticed his ma coming to stand by his side.
"She's a pretty one, and part of your club. Young."
"She don't act it," Happy grunted as he watched her hug her dad and then awkwardly smile at her aunt.
"Does she have a name?"
"Bella."
"Hmm… I'm going to start making us something to eat," his ma said quietly before making her way purposefully to the kitchen. The room was his ma's domain, the area she ruled with an iron fist and a sturdy wooden spoon. Reluctantly he headed after the elder woman to go and help as he knew she expected him too. After all, she was the reason he knew that he should be helping a good woman take care of shit and not let her do it all.
Bella nibbled at her lip as she sat on the edge of the chair she was occupying. Things were… strained to say the least. Georgia looked over at her with sympathy in her eyes.
She had been so excited to meet her aunt, another living family member. The woman her dad was so attached too. She should have known that her bad luck would have reared its ugly head and it did.
When they had arrived Sonny had looked excited, happy even. She had brown eyes and hair that reminded Bella a lot of her own, she was skinnier though and taller. Her smile had dropped when she took in Bella's Kutte.
Now Georgia and Bella were sitting in the front room while her dad and Sonny argued in an attached room. They could hear every word unfortunately.
"-wanted more for your daughter than just being another biker slut! And that's another thing, how do you even know she is your daughter! Huh? Maybe she and that slut Renee are playing you!"
"-what in hell you're talking about!"
"-if mom could see this!"
"-shut up! Bella-"
"-this was a bad idea!"
Bella shifted further on her seat. This had been going on for a while. She wished more than anything she had brought her own truck or bike, that way she could just leave.
She almost sagged in relife when her phone beeped a message. For the first time in weeks she hoped the club needed her to do something idiotic, degrading and time consuming, anything to get her back to Charming.
Bella smiled a little as she saw it was from Happy, she had missed him.
My mom's wants to meet you. You free at all? Also I wanna see your sexy ass.
Bella bit her lip, her heart jumping a little. Happy and her hadn't been in a relationship for that long really, but everytime she spoke with him or saw him her heart leapt. She wanted to be with him every moment she could. She was falling for him, hard and fast. It was something she promised herself she wouldn't do again, but she had no control over it. In all honesty it scared her, but not enough to keep away from him, she didn't think she could if she tried.
I'm free whenever. I want to see you, missed you. Kutte on or off for meeting your mom? X
Bella didn't want to make the same mistake with Happy's mom that she had with Sonny. Happy was close with his mom, had the utmost respect for her and Bella really wanted his mom to like her.
Mom's ain't gonna care about that. Whatever you want. You free now, ain't you busy with ya aunt?
Bella let out a sigh of relief. She had an out. What if meeting his mom went worse than meeting Sonny though, would Happy end things? She nibbled her lip again.
Bella put her phone away and looked over at Georgia. "That was Happy."
"Is everything okay?" Georgia asked quietly, the argument in the adjoining room was still in full swing.
Bella nodded, she ran her fingers down her Kutte. It was comforting, a sense of belonging, of family, something she desperately needed right then. She knew without a doubt, even through all the hazing and demeaning that the guys would have her back here. Would be there offering cigarettes, an ear, joking and comforting hugs if they knew. Knowing that without a doubt helped her, gave her strength then when she had started feeling worthless again. When she started doubting herself, even her own family didn't want her. But the Sons did.
"Yeah, his mom wants to meet me," Bella said.
Georgia's eyes widened a fraction but a smile tugged at her lips. "Are you going?"
"Yep," Bella said with raised eyebrows, her head turned slightly towards the yelling.
"-just jealous! I have the club, my Old Lady and my kid!"
What's the address, I'll leave now. X
"Maybe not such a bad idea," Georgia said with a small sigh.
Nah girly, wait. I'll come get ya.
"I'm sorry Honey, when you're finished we'll head back to Charming," Georgia leant across the small space between them and took her hand.
"No, it's fine. You and dad should enjoy your Christmas. I'll call one of the guys to come and give me a lift. They might give me trouble for it, but one of them will come," Bella said sincerely.
"Bella, no. If you aren't welcome here then your dad and me, we aren't staying. You're our kid, you come first," Georgia said firmly, her face set and her eyes full of fire.
Bella felt tears burn in her eyes that she would not shed. "I love you… mom."
"Oh Bella," Georgia said with her own eyes brimming as she leant across and pulled Bella into a hug.
A loud knock at the front door had the two women pulling apart and both surreptitiously wiping their eyes.
Sonny came marching through the front room. The woman shot Bella a heated look before she opened the front door. Bella tried to hold her head up high against the obvious dislike from her aunt, it helped when once more Georgia took her hand.
"Happy!" Sonny said, sounding delighted that the man was on her doorstep. Bella's heart flipped as she stood.
She smoothed down her clothes, knowing she could look better for meeting her man's mom, but she was too desperate to be out of there to take the time to change. "You look good, Bells." Georgia said with a small smile.
"Hey Sonny, I'm here for Bella," Happy's deep rasp sent shivers down her spine. A smile spread across her face that she couldn't stop, it had been a long two weeks.
Bella sent Georgia a little smile before she headed for the door. Sonny blocked her way but she could see Happy beyond her standing on the porch. He looked amazing, his deep brown eyes that she loved so much were hidden by sunglasses that somehow made him come across more dangerous. He was in loose fitting jeans with his wallet chain hanging low, a black SOA hoodie laid over his belt buckle, he was so handsome her mouth instantly felt dry.
"Girly," Happy nodded at her, a small up turn of his lips graced his lips, the only thing that showed he was happy to see her.
Sonny's arm dropped from the doorframe and Bella took that opening to step past her.
Happy nodded at Sonny before resting his forehead against Bella's, his arm going around her shoulder and pulling her against his firm body.
"You good Girly?" Happy rasped.
"I am now," Bella said honestly, her head tilted up to look at him. He pressed the briefest of kisses to her lips.
"Ya ready to meet my ma?" Happy asked, completely ignoring a spluttering Sonny.
Bella leant into him. "Lead the way."
The door shut firmly behind them as Happy turned her towards the sidewalk. They hadn't left the porch before they heard a thud against the door. Something heavy had slammed against it. Both of them paused and exchanged frowns.
"Listen here bitch! You ever speak like that-"
"Rane, call your attack dog off!"
Another heavy thud came from the door.
"About my daughter again and I will gut you!" Georgia's voice was loud and menacing. A small crossed Bella's lips as she gently tugged Happy back from the scene.
"Somethin' ya wanna tell me Girly?" Happy asked, looking down at her, the frown still on his face, his eyebrows raised.
"Sonny didn't take to me too well," Bella said with a shrug. Being beside him again and having her dad and Georgia defend her took away most of the sting.
"You good?"
Bella smiled up at him, nestling herself further into his warm, firm side. "I am now. I missed you."
Happy took off his sunglasses and put them in his back pocket before he stopped her on the sidewalk just one house down from her aunts. He cupped her cheek before kissing her softly, yet deeply. Butterflies swarmed her stomach as her heart leapt, her hands rested against his cheeks, feeling the rough beginnings of stubble over his smooth skin.
"Missed you too Girly and that fuckin' ass," he grinned before palming her butt. "You ready to meet my ma?"
"Erm… yeah," Bella replied, her heart speeding up once more, this time with nerves.
Happy glanced down at her, his arm comfortingly slung around her shoulders. He didn't say anything, just pulled her closer to him and pressed a kiss to her head. Without a word he made her feel better, safe, wanted, cared for.
The house he led her to was a similar size to Sonny's but the front yard was covered in flowers, the porch held comfortable looking furniture and the front door was painted green.
Happy opened the door for her, a hand on the small of her back as she walked into a warm, homey entrance way. "Ma! We're here!" Happy called out.
"Mijo!" A small woman with a beautiful face came bustling through from a room at the back of the house. She had short dark curly hair, light brown eyes and a wide smile on her face.
"Ma, this is Bella, my girl. Bella my ma," Happy rasped his hand still on the small of Bella's back, a warm, comforting pressure.
"It's really nice to meet you Ms Lowman, Happy's talked about you a lot," Bella said sincerely. Happy had told her about his mom over the phone when they spoke, it was easy to see how much the man cared for his mom, even when she frustrated him. She was glad to be meeting the woman, even if she was nervous.
Ms Lowman looked Bella over critically, the smile still on her face. "A polite one, no? Call me Juliette. You're very beautiful but much too skinny, come into the kitchen, Happy helped me make some food earlier, we have plenty leftover." With that Juliette was bustling away to the back room again.
"Your mom's amazing," Bella said a while later, they were sitting on the porch as the sun was setting cigarettes in hand. Happy had a beer and Bella was sipping at a coffee. Happy had one arm around her, relishing feeling her petite body tucked against him where she belonged.
"Yeah. She likes you," he nodded. He had expected his ma to be disapproving of them, however she seemed to take a real liking to Bella.
Bella had been perfect and he hadn't had to say nothin'. She helped where she was able to, talked openly with his ma and talked about how amazing he was. It was all his mom would ask for. They'd even talked about cooking so his ma knew that his girly could do the domestic shit.
"It's really nice out here like this. Maybe we should get some furniture for the porch?" Bella sighed looking out at the orange horizon.
He thought about what she said. We. Not her, not she, we. She was talkin' about long term. He nodded thoughtfully. Part of him froze at the thought of that commitment, the majority of him though swelled with satisfaction, she wanted him like he wanted her. She was planning for them, for their future. Just like he had been planning. His thoughts jumped to his sketch pad lying on the top of his bag in his room. Yeah he'd been planning.
He'd never had fuckin' feelings before. Never felt like this, wasn't even for sure what this shit was. What he did know was he wanted her, he wanted to wake up next to her every fuckin' morning. He wanted her more than he wanted to ride. Happy would kill for her, would die for her. Yeah, he didn't know exactly what that meant but he had a good idea.
Bella froze next to him, her posture going from relaxed and happy to stiff and tense.
"S'up?" He asked, glancing down at her.
Bella nodded down the street and Happy looked to see Sonny, Quinn and Georgia outside Sonny's house together. They all kept looking in their direction. Bella let out a sigh.
"Guess I'm gonna have to go face that," she said, her head resting against his shoulder for a moment as she placed a kiss on his neck. He closed his eyes at the sensation that caused. It had been a really long two weeks.
"You stayin' there still?" He asked, if she was he'd be able to see her some more over the next few days.
"Not a chance in hell," his Spitfire said firmly, her eyes burning with heat.
"I'll be seein' you when I get back then yeah?"
"You better be," Bella said with a wink, a blush right behind it. She really was fuckin' adorable.
He snorted and shook his head with a grin. "C'mon then, I'll walk ya back."
"It's right there. You can see it from the porch," Bella giggled.
"C'mon smartass."
Happy walked Bella back to her aunt's house, ignoring the three people waiting for her and he kissed her deeply. He loved it when she dug her fingers into his vest and pulled him closer and the little mewling sounds she made as he pulled away. He was getting carried away though. Any longer and he'd end up fuckin' her against Georgia's ride, and then Quinn would murder him. A lot.
He nodded at Georgia and Quinn, a brief nod, he didn't want to get involved in this family bullshit. "See ya Girly."
"Bye Hap," Bella said biting her lip as he left her with her aunt, dad and step-mom.
When he got back his mom was waiting for him on the porch, a fresh beer on the table, which made him raise his eyebrows. His ma took care of him but she was adamant about not waitin' on him hand and foot. It was rare he didn't have to fetch his own beer. He silently took a seat next to her and waited.
Without a word she put a box on the small table next to the chair she was relaxed in. He raised an eyebrow in question and she pushed it further towards him.
He opened the box and looked back at his mom, still waiting. He wasn't sure what to think.
"For when you're ready. She's perfect for you mijo. You compliment each other. She doesn't need you for anything, she wants you. She wants to take care of you and be there for you. She looks to you and for you. You have my blessing."
Happy sat outside for a long time after his ma went back inside. Even after Georgia's SUV and Quinn's bike had ridden past him. He sat in darkness, his hand playing with the box his ma had given him. His mind on his sketch pad. Brunette locks and a petite warm body never far from his thoughts.
