It was an hour-long ride to get to Adrian and Trudy's house. When they got there Adrian picked Trudy up in his arms and carried her into the house gently depositing her on the sofa. He got a bunch of pillows. He gently propped up her leg.

"Thank you Adrian," Trudy said, "I really appreciate what you did."

"I love you," Adrian told her.

Sometime later Dwight and Marsha arrived. They'd gotten all the food from the party.

"That should be enough food for a couple of days,"

Adrian laughed.

"It should be enough food for a couple of weeks," he said.

"I know," Marsha replied, "We did a lot of food preparation and cooking."

They put everything away. By the time they were done putting it away Trudy was almost asleep. Adrian picked her up and carried her into the bedroom. He kissed her gently on the lips. He quietly left the room so he could allow her to sleep.

"She's finally asleep," Adrian whispered.

"How is she feeling," Dwight asked.

"She's tired and very sore," Adrian replied, "But she's feeling a lot better emotionally. She felt like she ruined the party by breaking her leg."

"She did no such thing," Marsha exclaimed, "It was an accident."

"I know," Adrian said, "I told her the same thing."

"Dad," Jennifer said, "You know my friend Jamie, right?"

"Of course," Leland said.

Jennifer's friend Jamie was a year and ½ younger than her.

"He and his family are going to the amusement park today. He invited me. Could I go?"

"Sure," Leland said.

"Thanks dad," she said and hugged him.

Caroline started crying.

"I'll get her," Karen said.

She opened the door to the nursery.

"Leland," she called, "You have to see this."

Leland hurried to the nursery. Max was holding Caroline. He was humming to her.

"Hey Caroline," he said, "You know before you came along, I was the baby of the family. Now I have a little sister who I dore. You're so cute. I hope your first word is 'Max"

Caroline looked at him with docile eyes. Karen and Leland were both smiling.

"We have the best family in the world," Max said.

Leland started to step forward, but Karen held him back gently.

"Let me tell you about mommy first. Mommy is the best mommy in the world. She loves me and you and Jared and Jennifer. She always takes care of all of us. Mommy loves to laugh. She never gets mad… except a coupla times she got mad at daddy. But she never gets mad at us.

"Daddy is the best daddy in the world. He's so much fun. Sometimes daddy takes us to Funzone. You're going to love Funzone. It's really fun," Max continued.

"Something tells me Max wants to go to Funzone," Karen said with a laugh.

"That would be okay with me," Leland replied, "We haven't been there in awhile."

"Cool," Karen smiled.

"Jennifer was kidnapped but she was returned. She was returned 3 days before my birthday. It was the best birthday gift I ever gotted. Jared is the best big brother ever. He's always there for me. I'll always be there for you. I love you Caroline."

"Max, that was so sweet," Karen said, coming into the room.

She gently took Caroline and changed her diaper.

"Thanks mommy," Max said.

"We're going to go to Funzone tonight," Leland told Max as he stepped into the room too.

Max's eyes widened in excitement.

"Yay," he exclaimed, "Can Caroline come?"

"She's family. Of course she'll be there," Karen said ruffling Max's hair.

Trudy woke up about 11 PM. She was in pain and hungry. She also had to go to the bathroom.

"Adrian," she whispered.

Adrian woke up.

"Hey," he said, "Are you okay?"

"Not really," she replied close to tears, "My leg really hurts, I'm hungry and I have to go to the bathroom."

"Okay," he said gently.

He picked her up and brought her into the bathroom.

After she used the bathroom, he carried her into the dining room. He sat her down on one chair and then pulled another one up.

"Here," he said, "Put your foot up. I'll get you something to eat and then I'll give you one of the pain pills."

Trudy put her foot up. Adrian got her a bit of the chocolate cake. She ate it all then asked for a glass of milk. Adrian got her the glass of milk along with the pain pill.

"Thank you, Adrian," Trudy said, "I love you."

"And I love you more," he told her, "You are the best thing that ever happened to me."

He stroked her hair.

"The doctor said she wants me to start PT next month," Trudy said, "How can I do that while I'm in a cast?"

"They'll figure it out," Adrian said gently.

He carried her into the den and put on a TV show. There was a comedian on. Trudy smiled.
