Hello everybody.

First, I am surprised at the positive reception of what was supposed to be a one-shot got and decided to follow through using some of my other ideas.

Seems to be fitting that I am posting the return of Spencer and Alexandra to Yellowstone Ranch given the season one finale where that has still yet to happen.

I'll be blunt I hope Taylor Sheridan gets them back at the start of season two with not dragging Spencer and Alexandra's return out any further, which is running dry already.

Let's face it we all want to see how the two interact with everybody else at the ranch and start handling problems.

Onwards.

Dutton Ranch in early spring of 1924

Riding on horses for nearing a stop towards the log cabin Spencer and Alexandra dismount. Upon making their way closer only Elizabeth bolts out the door with almost falling down the front step before catching herself. Shortly followed by Jacob, Cara, and Jack who are grinning.

For the next several minutes each member of the Dutton family is hugging one another. Cara is wiping the tears from her eyes and even Jacob has some slight mist for his nephew finally being back. A very unusual site for the Dutton family, but none can really bring themselves to care at the moment. For the first time in six years, a family member has returned home.

Eventually, the six make their way up to the porch with Jacob sitting in a chair while joined in another by Cara. Meanwhile, Jack leans up against the wall next to Elizabeth. Spencer with Alexandra are by the railing.

"Where's Emma at?" Spencer inquiries uneasily.

"Gone. Couldn't take everything so my mother" Jack says trailing off.

Nodding "Right. How bad have things gotten?" Spencer asks.

"Half our cows have been stolen and having to sell the others, with wranglers disappearing. Either off to Hollywood or gone. Banner is now living in Elizabeth's house given Whitfield bought it" Jack explains angrily.

"I think we can at least put the conversation of our problems until tomorrow morning. You've had a long day, and should rest" Cara says.

"This part cannot. Get Zane and tell him to talk only to me as there are bodies needing to be removed" Spencer says.

"Banner or Whitfield's men no doubt. I'll tell Zane to get some shovels to bury them in the forests" Jacob says.

"No, I have an actual location I want you to throw them in. A legal dead zone" Spencer says.

"Usually, I just leave them for the wolves. Jack get your horse and find Zane" Jacob orders.

"Yes sir," Jack says walking off.

"Do you have any luggage?" Elizabeth inquiries.

"We have been running into trouble ever since getting Cara's note so nothing to pack besides weapons and canteens" Alexandra replies.

"Let's get you settled in, Elizabeth and me will fix dinner. I'm sure there's some dresses that can fit you dear" Cara says caringly.

"No… no dresses. I'll stick to pants; I've had my fill of wearing those horrible things and given our lives they guard my legs better" Alexandra replies.

"We uh don't really have pants that fit a woman," Elizabeth says.

"That's fine, I'll just borrow some spares of Spencer's" Alexandra replies shrugging.

"You are very unusual my dear. Even though I do not always enjoy unfortunately that is what women wear. Besides, while I have found myself in need of using a gun and expanding the life stock agency, yet it is not like you will be putting yourself out there working the cows or breaking horses" Cara says.

"Actually, I will if needed," Alexandra says.

Looking on in shock "What?" Elizabeth replies, "I've chosen this life too but even I'm not doing that."

"And I wouldn't want you to. Only where I go so does my wife. My shadow" Spencer says.

"I'm as much as his comrade in arms on the battlefield as I am your nephew's wife or maybe it's the same. We've been through enough hell together for risking the other paths" Alexandra says.

"And here I thought Elizabeth was going to be enough gasoline for spreading the fire," Cara says.

Further discussion is ended following Zane and Jack approach on horses. Spencer is planning on discussing with the man in private regarding not just the train station location but the ongoings of the ranch over these past years.

Hope you enjoyed this and let me know what you think.

Yeah, Cara and Elizabeth being shocked over Alexandra's wearing of pants is just more of me touching on a culture thing of the time rather quickly. Or Alexandra's being right out on the battlefield so to speak alongside Spencer as a ranch hand.

Alexandra's character to me doesn't seem to be one for desiring less, and Cara with Elizabeth while strong characters exhibit it more of on a behind the scenes type of deal.

Really in a way, Alexandra is kind of an early Teeter or possibly Evelyn Dutton since despite how little info, I could see her as taking part in the daily ranch work itself. Not that what we know of Evelyn Dutton, especially in regards to Beth is all that flattering of the woman.

Taylor kind of dropped the ball in regards to how Beth and John talk highly of the woman compared to what we actually saw was not that great. I guess a case of never speaking ill of the dead for sure.

I am using is only until 1923 1x04 as canon then cherry-picking anything else. Like Whitfield's character has no deed to the Dutton Ranch.

Until next time.
