Hope, Trudy and Adrian went out for ice cream later.
"Honey," Trudy said, "I think we have enough time to stop at Fairy Tale Island."
Hope's ears perked up at Fairy Tale Island. She loved that place as much as Trudy used to as a child.
Adrian looked at his watch. It was a quarter to five.
"Yeah," he said, "We could go for a couple of hours. It's only 4:45."
Trudy had already called Mrs. Day to fast track the application. Ava and Ella would be moving in over the weekend. Adrian called Leland to invite the kids to Fairy Tale Island.
"Sounds great," Leland said, "We'll be there."
"Thanks Leland," Adrian said.
He filled him in on what was going on.
Leland laughed.
"You're going to be outnumbered by ladies," he said.
"I already am," Adrian pointed out, "I wouldn't change that for anything."
"Are you hoping for a boy," Leland asked Adrian.
"I would be perfectly happy with four girls," Adrian said.
"Wow," Leland smiled, "You really grew up since you got Trudy back."
Adrian laughed.
"I grew happy," he said.
Suddenly there was a crash.
"Monk," Leland said, "I have to go. Caroline just cut her knee. It's bleeding pretty badly."
Adrian could hear Caroline crying in the background.
"She might need s-t-i-c-h-e-s," he said.
They went to Fairy Tale Island. They crossed Humpty Dumpty's bridge.
"Careful Humpty Dumpty," Hope called out adorably, "Don't fall."
Hope saw two lambs.
"I want to go to the lambs," she said.
She ran ahead and Trudy and Adrian hurried to keep up with her. She enjoyed petting BAH BAH BLACK SHEEP and SALT AND PEPPER.
Next they went to the Old Woman's Shoe slide. Hope went down several times. They went to Owl's Tree House. Hope had so much fun. Following that they went to Farmer Brown's Barn. Hope loved visiting all the animals.
"She reminds me of me when I was her age," Trudy said.
Adrian laughed.
"Yeah," he said, "Just like you she's perfect."
"Adrian," Trudy laughed, "I'm not perfect."
"Yes you are," Adrian replied.
Hope ran ahead to the Sheerwood Forest. She played on the playground for about 20 minutes. After that, they went to see the goats. Hope took a photo of herself inside a giant piece of cheese. Following that, they went on Cinderella's Coach. Hope wanted to ride it 3 times. After that she saw The Little Engine that Could and they rode that. In the Children's Theater they were putting on Cinderella. The child that played Cinderella had gotten sick.
"I can be Cinderella," Hope offered.
"Well that's wonderful," the director said, "Come up on stage and let's go through lines."
Hope ran up on stage. She did a magnificent job playing Cinderella and even got $50.00 for her performance. They saw the Hickery Dickery Clock. Then they went to Peter Rabbit's home to pet Peter, Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail.
After that they went to the Alphabet Garden. They spotted several plants and flowers. Hope ran ahead to the pirate ship. Then they went to the wishing well.
"Mommy," Hope said, "Can I have a quarter for the wishing well?"
"Sure," Trudy said, digging in her pocket. She pulled out a quarter. After they did the wishing well they hung out for awhile at Pooh's Corner. They ended by getting hot dogs and fries at the dish and spoon cafe.
After they were in the car Adrian called Leland. It turned out that Caroline needed stitches.
"She was so brave," Leland said, "She didn't even cry when they gave her a shot."
"You sound upset," Adrian said, "Is it because she needed-"
"No," Leland said, "Caroline's got a lot of bruising lately. I thought it was a typical child falling down. Dr. Michael did a bone marrow aspiration to make sure it wasn't leukemia. Monk, she has advanced leukemia."
