Chapter Text

Sunday came faster than Harry had hoped for. He felt like he was an awful human being at this point. He was never good with conflicting emotions and this whole Charlie situation was a disaster.

He had texted Charlie a few times but had kept it short and sweet using Teddy as an excuse as to his lack of response. Now Harry stood awkwardly against the counter in the kitchen, listening to George talk about the latest updates to his spell phone ap, Wiz-Date, while Charlie watched them from the table.

"So how have you been liking the ap so far Harry? I would love some feedback from someone in my inner circle besides Ginny. God knows that woman has been bragging about getting around on there lately. If mum ever heard her precious angel and the way she talked about the amount of ass she's getting, she would for sure have a coronary." George took a long swallow from his beer eyeing Harry curiously catching on to the tension in the room.

"Well, honestly, I have only used to match and talk to one person and we started texting off the ap pretty quickly. It was super easy to use otherwise. Ginny helped me set up my initial profile, not because it was hard, but because I was reluctant to try and put myself out there. I think that you are definitely getting witches and wizards laid across England for sure." Harry said trying to avoid talking about his own meet up soon to happen.

"Oh, there's no doubt in my mind about that Harry. How are you fairing then with the one witch you matched with? Taking things slow or just not as interested as you thought you would be?" George watched Charlie make a sour face and turn back to his own beer.

"Oh no, I uh… I'm very interested in him." Before Harry could stop himself, it had slipped out of mouth.

George paused mid sip and his eyes caught Harrys. He watched as his pupils went wide in realization at what he had said. Silence passed between the two of them what felt like ages.

"Har-"

"Geor-"

They paused awkwardly when Charlie let out a large sigh of clear annoyance. "George, Harry would appreciate if you didn't repeat what you just heard to anyone outside this room currently."

Harry looked at Charlie thankful, "Yes… Yes exactly that. I haven't… I haven't told everyone yet. Like your brother or 'Mione. So if you could just keep it between us until I'm ready to share… I have a date… with the guy I met through your ap. I plan to tell them after… I just need to do this first. You know?" This was exactly why Harry shouldn't be drinking. It made him do crazy things like text strangers and talk dirty, send dick pictures, kiss best friends brothers and clearly out himself before he was ready.

George clasped him on the shoulder, "Harry, I would never betray you like that. You will always be like a brother to me. Not to mention you are technically a business partner. Bad for business to cross your investors. You know?" George gave his shoulder a squeeze and smiled, "just promise me that if it all works out I can use you in my marketing? I mean this could really make the ap reach more people who are shy in nature."

"Sure, if this works out for me I will let you use it some how in your marketing." Harry promised. God, why was he drinking? He shouldn't be making commitments like that to George.

"So a date huh? When is that happening?" George finished his beer and watched as Charlie stood up looking angry, "You know if you don't want everyone here to know your blasted secret maybe you shouldn't be even talking about it." He stormed out of the kitchen and George let out a long whistle.

"What the bloody hell crawled up Charlie's arse? He's a bit testy tonight. I wonder if mum cornered him again about his love life or lack there of." George clapped Harry on the back, "Come on mate, let's join everyone in the living room before they come hunting us down."

Harry followed behind George, choosing to leave the rest of his beer on the counter. He had a bad feeling that if he kept drinking he was going to have more issues that he really couldn't take on right now.

Inside the small but cozy space, all the Weasleys sat chatting and watching Hermione on the floor with Teddy who was currently yelling at her looking frustrated waving his dragon at her.

"Oi' perfect timing mate. Hermione has been trying to figure out for the last five minutes what Teddy named his new dragon but he's just gotten angry and changed his hair color." Ron said pointing at the boy in question who was currently supporting platinum hair.

"Oh? Uh he's saying Draco. He named his dragon Draco because Malfoy bought it for him." Harry tried to act like it wasn't a big deal as Ron looked between Teddy who indeed did now resemble a Malfoy and Harry who was looking like he swallowed a vomit jelly bean.

"Malfoy bought Teddy a Dragon? Why the hell would ferret face buy him anything? And why in Merlin's name did you accept anything from him? It's probably cursed!" Ron winced as Hermione slapped him hard in the leg.

"Ronald! Language! You know that Teddy has been repeating anything and everything he hears. Not that Harry owes us an explanation, I am going to assume that Malfoy has been in contact because they are cousins. I do remember Andy mentioning that she had been spending time with her sister recently."

"Yeah, it was really her idea. It's been fine honestly. I mean, he's still a git with more comments than needed but he hasn't been awful. I let him take Teddy on his own Thursday. It went surprisingly well and Teddy adores him. All Friday morning he kept asking me where he was so I'm going to guess I'm stuck seeing Malfoy more than I would like too." Harry thought back to Thursday and Malfoy in his home. His hair had been wind tossed falling out of his pony tail loosely around his face. His face had been rosy from the chilled air outside, even his nose looking a bit cold nipped. He had let his mask down just a few moments as he held Teddy tightly in his arms. The man was definitely easy on the eyes and Harry may have embarrassingly wanked to the dirty things Cobra had said to him that night, but picturing Malfoy.

Hermione looked over to Harry, "Well I personally think that is great Harry. Very mature of you. Luna is always going on about Malfoy and how much he's changed since school. We were all children when everything happened Ron. It is good for Teddy to have a chance to know all the family he has."

"Yeah until Harry is hexing Malfoy to bits because he's been secretly teaching him unforgivables. I don't care if Malfoy is adopting blind orphans and taking them to pet kittens, you don't just give up years of bigotry and all that nonsense over night."

Harry sighed heavily, "Trust me mate, I get what you are saying. I'm not saying he's changed all of his ways. I'm just saying Andy and apparently Luna have both vouched for him and Teddy took a liking to him pretty quickly. I am just taking it one day at a time and seeing how it goes." Harry let Teddy crawl into his lap sucking at his thumb clutching onto Harrys sweater. "Besides, I don't think after finally getting his name clear and being done with probation that he would risk it all to teach a two year old magic he wouldn't even understand."

Harry rubbed Teddys back soothingly, "Are you ready to go home buddy?" Teddy nodded against Harrys chest.

"I'm going to take him home, it's getting late. I'll see you at the office tomorrow Ron." Harry stood carrying Teddy, saying his goodbyes. He snagged his bag and looked up as he realized Charlie had followed him outside to the aparation point.

"Harry, listen, I know you think… that you can't see me more than a brother figure, but I wish you would give us a chance. We could be good together you know? We have similar values and interests. We already know each other so well. Teddy knows me, and is comfortable with me so you never have to worry about his well being. You're ready to risk it all on a blind date from the internet when I'm right here. You don't have to decide tonight… but promise me you'll think about it at least. We could be so great together." Charlie had a hand on Harrys arm, his thumb running circles slowly. "I head back tomorrow to Romania, but I will have my mobile. Good night Harry."

He left Harry standing in the dark, Teddy already slightly snoring. We could be good together. Ginny had once said that same sentence to him before their entire romance had went up in flames. Closing his eyes he pictured his front steps and felt the familiar tug as he disappeared into the night.

———

Harry: I honestly can't wait to meet you tonight. I thought I would be more nervous than I am. I just hope you don't lose your mind when we meet. I may have understated my popularity in the Wizarding world. I hate being well known… the spotlight ruins my life. I have a good feeling about you though.

Cobra: I am hoping you don't lose your mind when we meet… my popularity also makes me nervous. No matter what Happens tonight Prongs… I'm glad we met on here and had a chance to talk. I hope you'll decide to give me a real chance. I think we could be good together

There it was again, that statement. Harry frowned at his mobile and set it on his desk. How did someone know if you really could be good together.

"Woman troubles?" Hermione asked knocking on Harrys open door and walking in.

"Something like that… I just… how did you know Ron was good for you? That being together was right?" Harry asked as Hermione crossed the room sitting in one of the free chairs in front of his desk.

"I don't think there was a single moment when I just realized. I just knew that I didn't want to not be with him. No matter how much he pushed my buttons and left me wanting to hex him, I still wanted him to be mine." Hermione smiled, "Things must be going well with the woman you are talking to then?"

"I mean as far as I can tell, things are progressing well. I don't know if it's a serious thing, but I think it is going to be a nice change for me. Dating again. I have a date tonight and I didn't exactly reveal my identity… I want someone to meet with me because they like me with out the name. I'm just nervous it won't go as planned and the connection I think we have fizzles out in seconds when we meet face to face."

"Harry I don't think you are giving yourself enough credit. I think it's great you met someone who is getting a chance to know you before they know who you are. I highly doubt that it will fizzle out. The chemistry between you two should still be there even without the phones between you. You are still the same person they have been talking to, just now they will know your name. Did you want Ron and I to tag along incase it doesn't go well?" Hermione asked giving him a reassuring smile.

"No, but thank you. I have to do this on my own. Besides if it's a failed first date, I'll have to learn how to get through them too." Harry laughed nervously.

Hermione looked at him carefully, "I know you tell me you know Harry, but I need you to understand that your happiness is important to me. That means no matter who you choose to love if you are happy I am happy for you."

Harry saw her searching his face for answers. He knew deep down that she was probably filling in the blanks based on how he avoided referring to his date as she. "I do know Hermione. I'm still learning how to be happy for myself and making my own decisions. I'm getting there." He smiled at her. "So what brought you in here this afternoon?"

"Ah, so the legal department is giving me some push back on the newest program I want to launch. I want to place a program in Hogwarts where we not only teach wizarding children about muggles but where we teach muggle born wizarding children about wizarding traditions. I feel that the war the media has out for pure bloods is part of the problem. Not all their traditions are outdated or barbaric. The history in some of the things they practice is actually very beautiful. They are concerned that by including this history we will be leading some children to separate and judge. I think quite the opposite, I think both sides should be learned so we can meld together. I try to imagine how we may have seen some of our classmates differently if we understood some of the things that were so important to them." Hermione explained passionately.

"Uh, okay. I mean that makes sense to me… like understanding bonding ceremonies. I had no idea they weren't anything like traditional weddings. So what is it that you need from me? I mean I'm head of task form teams…" Harry groaned, "you want to have some type of fundraising ball and you want me to come and make a speech about it don't you?"

"Exactly, they listen to you Harry. I know you don't like using your name for things but this… this would be good. I think that there would be less unwillingness to accept muggle borns into pureblood traditions if they understood them. That's really what most pureblood family's want. Is their way of life and understanding of magic to not be lost in the world as we blend together."

"Fine, but only because I love you. You know I hate ministry events and breaking bread with people who don't even really care about me… just my fame."

Hermione threw her arms around him for a quick hug. "Perfect. I'm going to go send the proposal in for the fundraiser now for the committee to look at so I can sign off. They will agree to anything once they see you are on board. We will do it in March. First weekend."

Harry glared, "that's only five weeks away Hermione."

"Exactly! Better get hurrying. Good luck on your date. Maybe you'll bring them as your date to the ball." Hermione gave him a quick wave before hurrying back down the hall.

He glanced at the clock on the wall, two more hours of work and that meant four hours until he finally met Cobra.

———

Harry looked in the mirror one last time checking his appearance over. They were meeting at a local muggle bar. Cobra had insisted. That way if Harry didn't want to continue onto their date they could separate from there and there would be no harm or foul.

Harry had dug into the bottom of his drawers until he had found those jeans he had worn on the cover of Witch Weekly. He already knew that Cobra liked the way his ass had looked in those. He had never worn them again after that photo shoot. Ginny had called him to wear that emerald green long sleeve button up. That it made his eyes pop and to wear his leather jacket over that. She told him no jumpers.

He had tried his best to tame his hair but it seemed impossible. He gave up after fifteen minutes of fighting with it. It would have to do.

His heart was pounding. He would apparate just outside the bar on the side street and walk the rest of the way. Cobra said he would be waiting at the bar so Harry had time to approach and if he changed his mind about him he could leave before Cobra even saw him.

He told Harry that he would be dressed in black jeans and a dark grey jumper with a white button up under and his blonde hair would be pulled up in a neat bun.

Harry could picture how Pristine and flawless this man would look.

He checked himself once more before grabbing his wand and attaching it to a hidden arm holster. His wallet in his pocket and his mobile after a quick text.

Harry: On my way. See you in about five.

Cobra: I'm here, I ordered myself a glass of scotch… I ordered you a glass of whiskey , two fingers. See you soon.

Harry smiled and pocketed his phone. Here goes nothing, he thought as he locked the door behind him and apparated from his front step.

Harry wiped his palms nervously on his jeans as he walked. This was going to be fine. It was just a date. Cobra already knew some of the worst about him and was still willing to meet.

Harry rounded the corner and looked at the small bar where he could hear the soft thump of music coming from inside. He pulled open the door and moved his way through the small crowd of people who were holding drinks and laughing. He could feel his heart beating faster and faster as he found the bar. Instantly he scanned all the seats and spotted only one patron with bleach blonde hair, and it was sitting neatly at the top of his head.

He could see long pale fingers holding a glass in his right hand, the seat to his left empty with a glass of amber liquid in front of the space. As Harry came closer the hair on the back of his neck stood up. Cobra seemed oddly familiar.

He was now close enough to almost touch him, and the man must of sensed him. His head spun around and Harrys heart dropped into his stomach. Grey eyes met green ones.

"Malfoy?"
