Trunks—and the rest of the family woke up around four in the morning to Miyuki uncontrollably screaming and crying. She was inconsolable: no matter what Trunks did for her, she just wouldn't stop screaming.
"What's going on?" Bulma, Vegeta, and Bulla asked, walking into Trunks and Miyuki's room.
"I don't know. Her diaper's not dirty, and she says she doesn't have to go. I tired getting her to burp, and nothing. No matter what I try to give her; she doesn't want any of it—not a bottle or food." Trunks answered, walking back and forth, rubbing Miyuki's back.
"What is she doing?" Bulla asked, noticing it looked like Miyuki was biting Trunks's shoulder.
"I'm not sure. This is why I thought she was hungry; she keeps trying to latch onto my shoulder." Trunks answered.
"Oh. I think I know what's going on." Bulma spoke up before heading to the kitchen.
"What's going on?" Trunks and Vegeta asked, following Bulma along with Bulla.
"Set her in her highchair, please." Bulma instructed, digging in the fridge for something.
After a few minutes, Bulma walked over with a carrot she shaved and cut the pointy end off.
"Miyuki doesn't like raw carrots." Trunks told his mom with a sigh.
"She doesn't have to eat it. All you have to do is bite where it hurts." Bulma told Trunks before gently telling Miyuki, handing her the carrot.
Still bawling her eyes out, Miyuki slowly stuck the carrot in her mouth and started biting it.
After a few seconds, she stopped crying and started slowly calming down.
"I'm confused." Bulla spoke up first.
"I do believe she's teething." Bulma answered, watching Miyuki bite at the carrot.
"Teething? But I thought she had all her teeth." Bulla asked, stunned.
"She has a lot of teeth, but not all of them. As far as I know, she may have more or less teeth than we do. I don't really know anything about Nekodains. I only know they're a cat race who only age once every nine years—except for Miyuki; she ages once every three years. I know they're slowly mentally or intellectually and whatever else Future me told us." Trunks replied.
"With how far she's getting that carrot, I would have to say she's growing some back teeth—on both sides of her mouth. We were told she was two and a half, so I didn't think to get any teethers or teething rings." Bulma noted, watching Miyuki.
"I know what you mean. I guess I'll be going to the store again. However, this time, I'll have to ask a store associate for what I'm looking for because I have no idea what a teether is anymore." Trunks sighed, watching Miyuki slowly nod off.
"Don't worry about it; I'll go later today before or after work. There are a few different types. Besides: you can't just pick her one and expect her just to use it; she may not like what you or I pick. Miyuki is the only one who knows what she likes—or she will. For now, we'll put her carrot in a baggy and put that in the freezer, and she can use that until I get home tomorrow." Bulma insisted, taking the carrot from a sleeping Miyuki.
"Ok. But does that mean you won't be here for those contractor people?" Trunks asked, lifting Miyuki into his arms.
"I'll be here. I just have to go in to make sure everything is running just fine. I plan on leaving around eight-thirty and then I just be home by eleven or so. So, I need to get back to sleep, so I can do all this. See you all later." Bulma replied, watching her family.
"Ok. Love you, night." Trunks replied, hugging Bulma.
"Love you, too." Bulma replied, kissing Trunks's forehead.
Bulla ended up passing out on the couch, so Vegeta carried her to her room.
9:30 AM:
Trunks, Miyuki, and Bulla all slept in and were sound asleep until Miyuki started screaming and crying:
She had a dirty diaper and needed to go again.
She was hungry and thirsty.
Her teeth and mouth hurt.
"Ok. It's ok." Trunks told Miyuki after cleaning her and changing her diaper and into the day's outfit:
A frilly red and white sundress with pink shorts underneath and pink socks.
"You didn't brush her hair yet?" Bulla questioned, watching Trunks carry Miyuki, a brush, and red ribbons to the kitchen.
"Not yet. I have to get her that carrot for her teeth." Trunks replied.
"Carrot?" Vegeta asked, holding the carrot out to Trunks.
"Thanks." Trunks thanked him, taking the carrot after setting Miyuki in her highchair.
"Not a problem. I'm surprised she let you give her a bath." Vegeta replied, watching Trunks and Miyuki.
Once Trunks gave Miyuki the carrot, she started chewing on it and instantly started calming down.
"Did her hair get longer?" Bulla asked, watching Trunks brush out Miyuki's damp hair.
"I believe she knows I'm not going to hurt her in that way. And it may have. Future me stated that her hair grows faster than ours—and that we have to cut it every few months." Trunks replied, brushing Miyuki's hair.
"Well, I know that; I was there after all. I just thought he was joking around with that. When did he say it would stop growing so fast?" Bulla asked, watching Trunks put Miyuki's hair up in simple pigtails with her ribbons.
"Ummm… Three, I think because her hair will start turning purple when she's two." Trunks answered, thinking a little.
"They're just the frozen boxed stuff, but she likes pancakes. So, there's that and some orange slices and a bottle of milk. Your mother said orange juice may not be a good thing with new teeth coming in, so she should have milk or water. However, she could have some orange slices if she really wanted orange juice." Vegeta explained, placing two plates of stacked cooked frozen pancakes, the syrup, and a bowl of orange slices on the table; he put Miyuki's bottle in front of her.
"Tank you, Pop-Pop." Miyuki softly mumbled, munching on her carrot.
"Good girl." Trunks told Miyuki, kissing the top of her head.
"What'd she say?" Bulla asked, confused.
"What did she say?" Vegeta asked, watching Miyuki.
"She told you thank you." Trunks answered Vegeta and Bulla, looking at Vegeta.
"Well—you're welcome." Vegeta replied, going back to the kitchen.
"Aww! Daddy's embarrassed." Bulla happily teased Vegeta.
"Ok. Time to put the carrot down, so you can eat." Trunks calmly told Miyuki.
Miyuki held the carrot still for a few seconds before slowly taking it out of her mouth and setting it in front of her.
"Good girl. Do you want syrup on the pancakes? Or do you want to dunk them like yesterday?" Trunks asked, watching Miyuki.
"Yesserday." Miyuki answered before sucking on an orange.
"Ok. Hold on while I get you a little bowl for syrup." Trunks instructed, getting up.
"Here. This is what you want, right?" Vegeta asked, handing Trunks a little bowl.
"Yep. Thank you." Trunks replied before walking back to Miyuki.
"Is that a good orange?" Trunks asked as Miyuki slowly ate the orange piece she had. She just nodded her head while chewing.
"I'm home." Bulma announced, walking through the door.
"Welcome home, but it's only a little after ten. I thought you said you wouldn't be home until around eleven." Trunks replied when Bulma walked into the kitchen with a bag or two—or five.
"How many of those things for her teeth did you get?" Vegeta asked, looking at the bags.
"Well-well Mew-Mew." Miyuki greeted Bulma, turning to find her.
"Thank you, Miyuki. That was the plan, but after we all went back to bed this morning, I ended up getting up at seven and just couldn't get back to sleep. So, I just got up, got ready, and left at a little after seven-thirty. The problem wasn't anything serious, but I do feel stupid for not seeing that all the problem was, was something unplugged and something switched off. And of course, not. Only one of the bags is teething items. Two of the bags are extra shampoos, other soaps, and other bathroom stuff for everyone. And the final bags have flashlights, lanterns, batteries, and lightbulbs. We're supposed to get some nasty storms this week; I just want to be prepared just in case power goes out." Bulma replied to Miyuki before answering Trunks and Vegeta.
"Mew-Mew no stupy; me stupy." Miyuki spoke, looking at her food.
"No, Baby. Mew-Mew's not stupid, but neither are you." Trunks told Miyuki, pulling her out of her highchair and into a hug.
"I's stupy." Miyuki repeated with her face in Trunks's shoulder.
"Did your mommy tell you that?" Bulma gently asked; Miyuki nodded her head.
"Well, that—woman was wrong—dead wrong. You may not be the smartest person in the world, but neither am I. But you're certainly not stupid." Vegeta firmly told Miyuki, censoring himself in front of her.
"Pop-Pop's right. And no matter your intelligence; I'll always love you." Trunks told Miyuki, rubbing her back.
"And of course, I'll always love you. And I have a very special gift for you. Oh, shoot. I knew I was forgetting something. Hold on; I'll be right back. I left your gift in the car." Bulma added before rushing out to the car.
"Don't mind Mew-Mew; she can be a bit of a spaz at times." Bulla told Miyuki with a smile.
"So can your aunt." Trunks and Vegeta responded.
"I never said I wasn't. I think just everyone in this family is a spaz—some more than others, but we all have our quirks." Bulla retorted.
"Yes, I can agree to that." Trunks agreed with a smile.
"And as much as your daddy annoys me and gets on my nerves, he's still one of the best big brothers I can ask for. And despite what is said about half of your race's intelligence, you're not stupid. Besides, you're only a baby; you still have plenty of years yet to go before you can say you're stupid or not. And I'm not talking about intelligence-wise; I'm talking about the stuff you do or don't do. With that said: your daddy is very smart, and he'll be the best teacher for you. You'll have some of the best teachers here: your daddy, Mew-Mew, and Pop-Pop—and maybe even me. But I don't know what I'd teach you yet." Bulla thoughtfully told Miyuki, complimenting her family.
"Oh, Bulla; we love you, too." Bulma excitedly and tearfully hugged Bulla.
"Mom…" Bulla whined with a smile.
"Your aunt is crazy. I'm sure once you're old enough, she'll have plenty to teach you. And she's right: you're only a baby; you still have a lot of learning to do. You're far from being stupid." Trunks sincerely told Miyuki, rubbing her back.
"Ok. Let's put you back in your chair, so you can eat. And then, when you're done eating, Mew-Mew has presents for you." Trunks told Miyuki before placing her back in her chair.
"God, why did Miyuki have to endure all that? What all did Daisy truly do to her? There's got to be so much more with how Miyuki is." Trunks thought to himself, leaning back in his chair, frustrated. Well, it was supposed to himself, but he accidentally telepathically sent it to Vegeta.
"I don't know the answers to your questions, but I do know that cunt-bitch-cum guzzling-gutter slut is lucky she's dead already. And those men better pray I don't find them. I don't care if they're in jail: that won't change them. I'll figure something out if I find any of those fuckers! Not only did they touch and hurt a child; they touched and hurt your child—my grandchild! They didn't just hurt and touch any child; they touched and hurt the wrong child—my flesh and blood!" Vegeta angrily telepathically replied to Trunks.
"I think someone earned some stickers once she's done eating. I'll even let you have ten bonus stickers if you can calm Pop-Pop down a little." Trunks spoke directly to Miyuki, hoping to calm Vegeta down.
"Vegeta, come sit down." Bulma instructed.
"I already ate." Vegeta replied.
"So? Come sit next to Miyuki and spend time with everyone." Bulma insisted, giving him "the look."
"*Sigh…* Not fair, Kid." Vegeta told Miyuki as he sat next to her.
The moment he sat down, Vegeta felt an overwhelming feeling of warmth.
"I don't think I've seen or felt her ability that strong before." Bulma noted, watching Miyuki.
"I suppose it depends how angry someone is—or how many people are angry. I know Dad was irate. I was angry. I'm only guessing you two were upset as well. I think Miyuki picks up on that and her abilities just act up on their own—to a point." Trunks gave his opinion.
"Or-Or." Miyuki softly spoke, holding an orange slice to Vegeta.
"She wants you to take it." Trunks told Vegeta after seeing a confused look on Vegeta's face.
"Thanks." Vegeta replied, taking the orange slice from his granddaughter.
"Eh." Miyuki made a noise, trying to give Bulma an orange slice.
"Thank you, Sweetheart." Bulma thanked Miyuki after getting up to get the orange.
Next was Bulla.
"Oh, no, thank you; I'm not a big fan of oranges." Bulla politely declined.
"Bulla, just take the orange from her." 'You don't have to eat it.' Bulma told Bulla before mouthing to her.
"Thank you, Miyuki." Bulla took the orange and set it on a napkin in front of her.
"Or-Or Da." Miyuki happily told Trunks, handing him one of the larger orange slices.
"Thank you, Princess." Trunks gladly took the orange from his daughter.
While Miyuki was preoccupied with getting a pancake, Trunks set the orange slice she gave to Bulla back on Miyuki's plate.
"Huh?" Miyuki gasped a question when she turned to look at Trunks with a pancake in her hand—covered in syrup.
Trunks placed the orange slice she gave him in his mouth and was holding it in place with his teeth. All Miyuki saw was an orange smile in Trunks's mouth. Everyone was prepared for her to start screaming, not knowing what was going on; she was just staring at him.
They did not expect what happened next:
Trunks was about to take the orange out of his mouth when Miyuki started laughing. It wasn't a small giggle like when Vegeta and Bulma smacked Yamcha over the head—or when Eighteen smacked Krillin. This was full-on laughing.
Every time Trunks would slightly move the orange in his mouth, Miyuki would just laugh and laugh like it was the best thing in the world.
"What is so funny?" Vegeta asked, confused, watching Trunks shrug.
"I don't know, but that is the best sound from her yet." Bulma replied with a smile, taking a picture.
"This can't be that funny." Vegeta muttered, putting the orange in his mouth.
"Miyuki, look at Pop-Pop." Trunks told Miyuki after taking the orange peel out of his mouth.
As soon as she turned to look at Vegeta, Miyuki just burst out laughing again. She calmed down when Trunks took the peel out of his mouth.
She was just laughing and laughing, and her head was all over the place. She was laughing so much that Miyuki had tears running down her cheeks.
After another minute of this, Trunks noticed Miyuki's breathing becoming labored. She was trying to catch her breath but was having difficulties because she couldn't stop laughing.
"Ok… I think that's enough of that." Trunks insisted, lifting Miyuki out of her chair to set her on his lap.
"Aww! But why? She was having so much fun." Bulla kind of argued.
"She can't seem to catch her breath; she's laughing too much. As much as I love her laughter; she needs to be able to catch her breath and breathe." Trunks answered as Vegeta ate the orange and removed the peel.
It took a few minutes, but Miyuki was properly breathing again. And as soon as Trunks placed her back in her chair, she started eating her pancakes.
Half An Hour Later:
"Are you done eating?" Bulma asked, watching Miyuki.
"Yeah." Miyuki answered, rubbing her chest.
"I think she needs to burp or something." Bulla noted, watching Miyuki.
"I's potty." Miyuki told Trunks.
"Go or went?" Trunks asked, watching her.
"Go." Miyuki answered.
"Do you want me or Mew-Mew to take you?" Trunks asked, watching Miyuki.
"Da." Miyuki answered, becoming red in the face.
"Ok. Come on. But it really is ok if you use your diaper; that's what it's for." Trunks told Miyuki, carrying her to the bathroom. On the way there, she burped three times.
"She is too adorable." Bulma cooed, putting dishes away.
"She's something alright." Vegeta replied, leaning in his chair.
"What does that mean?" Bulla and Bulma asked, watching Vegeta.
"Nothing bad. I just mean she's a unique little girl. She may never be a fighter, but I think she has more potential than anyone believes. And I don't care what anyone else has to say or think; she's smarter than any of those other idiots think or say." Vegeta clarified.
"Tickers?" Miyuki asked as Trunks carried her to the kitchen.
"Yes, we'll do your stickers—after we see what Mew-Mew got you. And we also have to do your therapy." Trunks replied.
"Otay." Miyuki replied.
"Hi, Sweetheart. Do your little toothers hurt again?" Bulma greeted Miyuki with a smile and then asked when Miyuki started gnawing on the carrot again.
Miyuki just nodded her head as she continued.
"Would you like something better than a carrot to make your toothers feel better?" Bulma asked, watching Miyuki.
For a minute or two, Miyuki stared at Bulma with that unsure look. And then she removed the carrot, looked at it, and then at Bulma. She did that a few times before finally setting the carrot aside.
"I'm going to take a shower." Bulla informed everyone.
"Ok. Are you going to come back to the kitchen? Are you going to your room? What's the plan?" Bulma asked, watching Bulla.
"I was thinking of just going to hang out with Marron and Pan. Gohan and Videl are taking them to indoor entertainment place. They've been there before and said it was amazing: there's indoor sports, a pool, a dance thing that matches your movements, and so much more. Gohan and Videl said that if it was ok with you, I could go with." Bulla answered, pleading with her parents with her eyes.
"I talked with Gohan earlier today; he stopped by Capsule Corp to help with something. He didn't mention something about taking you to Teen~Entertainment. I told him it was fine; they'll be here between one and one-thirty. Now, I'm telling you right now: if your father and I let you go to this with them, I don't want to hear any complaints about any family trips this summer. And I have a two or three planned so far. Ok?" Bulma told Bulla.
"That's fair. Do you have a place in mind for camping? Could we invite Goten and his family?" Bulla replied before asking.
"Honestly, I'm not sure about camping this year. I'm not sure how Miyuki would handle that. I mean, if I could get a cabin, camping would be fine because her crib could come with. But trying to set that up in a tent wouldn't work so well. So, I was just planning a trip to a nice hotel like normal. And then the other two trips will be a surprise—that I will talk to your brother about because I need his opinion." Bulma answered before kind of clarifying some things.
"Ok. I know it may not happen, but Goten and Pan were telling me about this place their family went to last year. I don't remember what it was called, but they had cabins where you could still set up tents outside—or even just use sleeping bags. I can ask them if that's something you'd be interested in." Bulla replied with a small smile.
"Ok. What's going on? You hate camping." Bulma questioned, watching Bulla.
"Nothing. I just know how much Dad and Trunks look forward to the yearly camping trips." Bulla replied.
Trunks sighed as he stood up.
"Da?" "Trunks?" Miyuki and Bulma asked, confused.
"Stop that." Trunks told Bulla, hugging her.
"Stop what?" Bulla asked, confused.
"It's not your fault. You don't have to punish yourself for something that man did. He manipulated you. And if anyone should be sorry; it's me because I couldn't tell something was wrong for however long you had that thing. Miyuki knows you love her—and she loves you as well. She may not be able to tell or show you like we can her, but she does love and trust you. She lets you hold her, and she kind of talks to you. Despite what anyone says, she knows that wasn't you. Maybe she'll never be academically smart, but she is smart in many different ways. None of what you said to any of us about her was you. And besides, you never said anything to her. Somewhere deep inside of you, you were still there. If you weren't, you would've attacked her directly with your words. Hell. As far as any of us know, you could've handed her directly to him had you not had some kind of control of you, your body, and your mind. Despite what he thought about you being the weakest link; you're not. You're stronger than he ever thought; you're stronger than you give yourself credit for. Miyuki and I love you so much. If you truly think you need to be punished for this, you can come shopping with Miyuki and me when I take her to find what type of sand she likes for her new sand—pool?" Trunks sincerely and thoughtfully told Bulla, ending in a question because he wasn't sure what Miyuki's sand ground was going to be. All he knew was it wasn't a box.
"I love you and Miyuki, too. But how did you know?" Bulla emotionally replied before asking.
"I could hear it in your voice. I can also see it when you look at Miyuki or shy away from her. I was going to say something earlier, but this confirmed it. She may still need time, but she does love and trust you." Trunks answered and explained.
"Ok. Thank you." Bulla replied, hugging Trunks.
"You're welcome. Now, go take a shower; you smell." Trunks replied before teasing her.
"Uh! You jerk!" Bulla complained. Yet, she still had a smile.
"Da, dat mean." Miyuki told Trunks, indicating that she had heard him.
"Yeah, Dad. You tell him, Miyuki." Bulla responded.
"I'm sorry, Bulla—and Miyuki." Trunks apologized with a smile, walking back to Miyuki; he kissed the top of her head and then sat down.
"Let's see what Mew-Mew got you." Trunks told Miyuki.
"Otay." Miyuki agreed, holding her face.
"First, I found you a few different teethers for your little toothers." Bulma told Miyuki, pouring out the contents of a bag.
"A few?" Vegeta asked in disbelief, looking at ten different teething items—if that; there may be more.
"Well, there were so many choices, I couldn't just pick three or four. These ones, go in the freezer, so we'll see if she likes them later. These two are for at bed or nap time, that way she can still sleep through the night. The rest of them are for throughout the day. Whatever she doesn't like, I'll deep clean and then donate or something." Bulma explained the teething things she picked up.
Miyuki wanted nothing to do with the beaded necklace; she wouldn't even put them in her mouth.
Eventually, she decided she liked a soft yet firm silicone teething spoon that could reach the back of her mouth. There was a teething ring she liked as well; it was filled with water. And she liked one of the sleepy time teethers. But the spoon seemed to be her favorite.
"Well, I'm certainly glad I went back for that one—and that I didn't put it back—three times. I didn't think she'd like the spoon. And I was so sure she'd like the teething necklace. Next time I go to the store, I'll have to find a few more so that one can be washed." Bulma noted, watching Miyuki chew on her spoon.
"Well, at least she likes something. I don't know how much I could handle of her screaming because she's in pain. And I'm so glad she liked one of the night ones: I don't want her choking on a spoon." Trunks replied, watching Miyuki.
"Welcome to parenthood. Anytime your child is hurting breaks your heart." Bulma told Trunks with a smile.
"Right. Ok. Time for your therapy and then we'll do stickers." Trunks told Miyuki, lifting her out of her chair.
12:30 PM:
Knock. Knock. Knock.
"Hello?" Bulma greeted, opening the door.
"Hi. I'm Kino and this is my associates, Tomoya and Makoto; we're from Happy Home Renovations. We're here to look at a basement that you wish to have turned into an apartment of sorts. Sorry we're late; we got lost." A contractor greeted Bulma at the front door.
"Yes, I heard. Come on in. I'm Bulma Briefs and this is my husband, Vegeta. Trunks! The contractors are here!" Bulma called down the hall.
"We'll be out in a minute or two!" Trunks called back.
"Trunks is our son; he's taking care of his daughter right now. They're who the basement apartment is hopefully for. And this is our daughter." Bulma explained.
"It's nice to meet you all." The contractors replied.
"If I may. This is such a nice house. Why would you want to change it around?" Makoto asked, looking down the hall and seeing at least four rooms.
"Our son would like his own space for him and his new daughter. It's a long personal story. But he's an adult now but has admitted to needing help. This was the best compromise we could come up with." Bulma politely answered.
"Sorry about that." Trunks apologized, walking out.
"Holy crap! Trunks and Miyuki." Tomoya blurted, shocked.
"You know them?" Kino and Makoto asked, confused.
"Kind of. They were at the mall the other day; they were all over all of the televisions and radios. I know their story." Tomoya answered, still shocked.
"Well, if you're done fawning or whatever over them; we should probably get to what we're here for. Please, show us what you want done." Kino told Tomoya before speaking to Bulma and Trunks.
"So, half Nekodian and human?" Makoto asked, watching Trunks.
"Yes and no. Half Nekodian, yes. Half human, no; she's also half Saiyan. You know of Nekodains? You didn't know Daisy, did you?" Trunks replied before asking as Bulma showed them to the basement.
"I may have heard the name, but no; I don't know any Nekodians—half or full named Daisy. My uncle's oldest nephew on his wife's side of the family has a cousin, Reiana; she has three children. Her children are half human like her and half Nekodian like their father. Their father, like, from what I understand, all other full Nekodians, was killed. Because her children are half Nekodian, Reiana is terrified of losing them as well, so she's very protective of them—despite having no abilities herself to protect them with. She eventually met two beings who promised to protect them, so long as she promised to house and feed them. That was four years ago—and everyone have become good friends. The kids get to go out and play more again." Makoto answered.
"Do they live around here?" Bulma asked, interested.
"No; they live a few hours away. I promised I wouldn't tell anyone where they lived, but if you'd like, without giving any of your information, I can tell them about you and your daughter." Makoto replied.
"That's understandable. Can I ask how they age? Miyuki only ages every three years." Trunks replied, watching Makoto as they stood by the basement door.
"After you show us your basement. I'll answer three more questions." Makoto replied after getting a look from Kino.
"Right. Well, this is our basement—soon to be Trunks and Miyuki's home." Bulma replied before leading everyone downstairs.
"Wow. This is huge. Are you sure you want to change this?" Tomoya gawked, looking around.
"I'm sure what my associate means to ask is: are you sure you want to change all this only to maybe want to change it back when your son and granddaughter actually move out?" Kino asked, watching Bulma.
"That was the wrong question." Trunks and Vegeta sighed.
"Yes, we're sure." Bulma determinedly answered with a scary fiery aura.
"Scawee Mew-Mew." Miyuki mumbled into Trunks's shoulder.
"Yeah: Mew-Mew is definitely in scary mode. Mom, can you take Miyuki, please?" Trunks responded to Miyuki before handing her to Bulma.
"Oh, sure." Bulma replied, doing a complete one-eighty before taking Miyuki—once she let her.
'She's kind of scary.' Kino, Tomoya, and Makoto thought to themselves, watching Bulma interact with Miyuki.
"You have no idea." Trunks and Vegeta responded, seeing the contractors' faces.
"Anyway… Do you have a plan on what you'd like done?" Kino asked, watching Bulma and Trunks.
"Just ask Trunks; he knows what he wants—minus the kitchen. Would you like a cupcake? Trunks, can Miyuki have a cupcake?" Bulma replied before asking Miyuki and Trunks.
"If she wants one. But don't force her." Trunks replied.
"Cuppy cake?" Miyuki softly asked, looking at the stairs.
"Let's go." Bulma excitedly told Miyuki before rushing upstairs.
"Umm… If you couldn't tell, my mom doesn't want me leaving—especially now that Miyuki's here. And while I'm not planning on living here forever, I'm sure my younger sister will want to take over once Miyuki and I move out." Trunks told the contractors once Bulma was upstairs.
"She's never going to let you leave." Vegeta mumbled.
"Anyway: Miyuki and I don't need a lot of space for just us—especially since Mom won't let us have our own kitchen… Maybe, if possible, you could a wall up, dividing the basement into two separate areas: one for Miyuki and me and one for Mom and Dad to still have a basement for storage or shelter. Then for us, if we could just have three or four bedrooms with a living room and a bathroom or two." Trunks changed the subject, watching the contractors and ignoring Vegeta.
"I'm going to guess you'll want plenty of outlets for power as well?" Kino asked, looking around.
"Yeah. I know there are some down here already, but I don't know how many—or where." Trunks replied.
"Don't look at me; I don't come down here." Vegeta grumbled.
"Dad! I'm heading out now! I'll be home in a few hours! Love you!" Bulla yelled down the stairs before leaving.
"I'm going to help with Miyuki." Vegeta quickly excused himself, heading upstairs.
"You want to stay here? Are you sure about that?" Tomoya asked, confused.
"As crazy as my parents and sister are, yes; I want to stay here. For now, I have to stay here. As he knows, I only just found out about Miyuki a few days ago; her mother kept her from me and abused her—in every way imaginable. So, I had no time to prepare for Miyuki. I may have helped my sister, but I until a few days ago; I never had a child of my own. My parents agreed to help me with Miyuki until I can get it on my own. However, there were some personal issues that happened, and I threatened to move out. Mom asked if this arrangement would work, and I agreed. This way, Miyuki and I have our own space, but my parents are upstairs for when I need them—and Mom still has me—and Miyuki." Trunks replied with a smile.
"Ok." 'I don't know how one can want to live with that woman.' Tomoya replied before thinking to himself in disbelief.
"Let's see. We'll have to talk to your parents about separating the basement, so they can still have a basement if that's what you truly want. As for everything else: we will put your living room at that far end of the apartment. And we can make it—I'd say ten feet by twelve feet. Ten feet side to side and twelve feet coming toward the stairs. Yes, Ma'am?" Kino started explaining before asking when Bulma walked downstairs.
"Don't worry about separating the basement into two areas. Don't worry about your father or me; we can use the attic as storage for most of this. And then we can use Bulla's room after you move down here, and she takes your room. That, and we're building a storage shed next to the garage. Please, use the entire basement. And if you're worried about a storm shelter; don't. We will figure something out. If you really want, you can use the extra space for a small kitchen with a fridge, microwave, and a few other things." Bulma firmly told Trunks and the contractors.
"Ok… I guess don't split the basement." Trunks replied, not wanting to argue with his mother.
"Ok. Then with the living room: we'll go the full length of the basement and then continue with twelve feet to the stairs. Do you want a laundry room down here?" Kino replied before asking.
"Yeah, we'll take a laundry room and a place for a fridge and freezer for drinks and cold foods. Everything else will be upstairs." Trunks replied, looking around.
"So, I was thinking we'll put all the rooms on this side of the basement and then on this side, we'll have a full bathroom, a laundry room, and a small kitchen big enough for a fridge and counter. Then on this side, by the stairs, we'll put the master bedroom with a master bathroom for you. With how large this basement is, your room with a bathroom could be…"
"I don't mean to interrupt, but I don't need a master bathroom. It's just Miyuki and me down here: we really only need one bathroom. Honestly, I'd rather have the living room, three or four rooms, a laundry room, the kitchen you described, one nice large bathroom with a bathtub and a shower, and if possible a storm shelter for everyone. That would make me feel better." Trunks interrupted Kino.
"Ok. Well, we can do all that for you. And if you would like, Ma'am; we could build onto your home out toward the backyard. What I mean is we could make you a storm shelter coming off the kitchen." Kino suggested.
"Or—I don't know what you would think about moving into a new home. But I know a place that would be perfect for you. It's a duplex for 40,000,000 Zeni even. However, it's been on the market for about a year and half now, so price is negotiable. It's one of the last projects my father and his brothers worked on together before my uncle passed away six months ago. But anyway: the duplex is a one-story side-by-side duplex with a basement and attic. Both sides are identical with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a decent-sized kitchen, and dining area. Of course, if you decide to purchase it, you can remove the walls separating the two sides. It's still located in West City—just not in the center; it's just on the outside of West City, toward the country. It's on three acres of land, so you'd have a large yard." Makoto suggested, bringing up moving.
"Is it blue with black designs?" Bulma asked, watching Makoto.
"Yes. You know of it?" Makoto asked, stunned as Vegeta came down with Miyuki.
"Da…" Miyuki whined, reaching for Trunks.
"Yeah, I know it: Vegeta and I looked at it last year. But Bulla had a heart attack about moving away from the city." Bulma replied.
"What are you talking about now?" Vegeta asked, watching Bulma.
"You remember that blue duplex house with pretty black designs just on the edge of West City we looked at last year? The one Bulla refused to look at." Bulma asked, watching Vegeta.
"The quiet place where we could build a larger training room?" Vegeta asked, interested.
"That's the one." Bulma replied.
"What about it?" Vegeta asked again.
"It's still available. Makoto, here, said it was something his father worked on. I'm surprised it's still on the market." Bulma explained before speaking to Makoto.
"It's been off and on. One family refused to pay what was agreed. One family my father did rent to own with, but they destroyed it in two months. The third family who recently moved out decided country life wasn't their style or whatever and gave it back. If you're still interested, I can call my dad and see if he'd be willing to show you around it." Makoto explained, scratching his head.
"Yes, I'm interested. Vegeta? Trunks?" Bulma asked, watching her husband and son.
"It'd be nice. I'd have my own place, but still be able to get help if needed. But it's not up to me." Trunks replied, shifting Miyuki a little.
"When do we move?" Vegeta eagerly asked. He hated the city and wanted to live in a quieter area. However, he was happy wherever Bulma was.
"If it's still available, we'd love to check it out some more. And if that doesn't work out, we'll just work on what Trunks wanted for the basement apartment." Bulma told Makoto and then Kino.
"Well, here's my card: call if you decide to stay here." Kino told Bulma, handing her his card.
"Thank you." Bulma politely replied, taking the card.
"Works for me." Tomoya added, following Kino up. Vegeta followed them both up to ensure they didn't steal anything or anything.
"This is much more work than they or any of you think. But that being said, it's also a big payday for them. If you decide to go with what I told you, they lose out on that money." Makoto explained, seeing Bulma's face.
"So, why did you say anything?" Trunks asked.
"Kino's a snake in the grass and will overcharge you. I think you're good people and don't deserve that. Also, I wanted to get my father's place sold for him. I know all people—and children are different, but if your daughter is anything like Reiana's children, she thrive better in a quieter living situation. Reiana's children age every two years because of the human in the human. It's interesting to know that half Nekodians and half humans age less than other races mixed with Nekodians. You would think the Nekodian would dominate and someone with half human would age less than two years or whatever. But it is what it is I guess. The oldest is year one of nine. The middle child is year two of five. And the youngest is year one of three. But I should head out before they leave without me. I will talk to my dad later tonight, but here's his number if you want to contact him sooner. Have a nice day." Makoto answered and explained before heading out.
"Are we going to do this?" Trunks asked, following Bulma upstairs.
"I'd like to. I wanted to last year so bad. But your sister threw a major tantrum. But more or less, I wanted to do this for your father; he's been so great living here for as long as he has—without killing anyone. And a change would be nice. I'm not saying with live all the way in the country like Goku, Chi-Chi, and Goten, but this place is in a quieter area. What do you want to do?" Bulma answered before asking.
"I'm happy wherever—as long as I have somewhere." Trunks replied, carefully placing Miyuki in her cradle. He then turned on her butterflies, and away she went.
"Is something wrong, Dear?" Bulma asked, noticing Vegeta looking out the window as the contractors left.
"I don't trust that Kino character; there's something about him." Vegeta answered.
"What about the other two? Tomoya and Makoto?" Bulma asked, watching Miyuki slowly fall asleep.
"The one you two were talking with—about that house: him I didn't mind. He was a little annoying, but most people are. The other one: he, I didn't like. But that's only because I thought he was a rude ass." Vegeta answered Bulma.
"Yeah, I didn't like Tomoya for the same reason. Kino, I don't know; I didn't really deal with him a ton. What do you think, Trunks?" Bulma agreed about Tomoya before asking Trunks his opinion.
"Honestly, I don't know. Miyuki wasn't panicking, so I don't think they're any of the people who hurt her. But then again, I could be wrong. She didn't seem like she wanted to be around them, but she wasn't panicking. And you know what people say: children and animals are the best at sensing if a person is good or not." Trunks answered.
"What about Tomoya?" Bulma asked, curious.
"She didn't seem bothered by him. She just seemed her normal shy or scared self around people she doesn't know. But I didn't get any bad vibes from him or Tomoya. I just thought Tomoya was rude." Trunks answered.
"And honestly, I would rather move than deal with Kino if he's going to be in charge of renovation." Trunks added after a few minutes.
"How was her therapy stuff?" Vegeta questioned, changing the subject.
"Well. Her hips popped a few times, but they didn't seem to bother her. I think we'll work on her crawling a little before bed because of how exhausted she seems to become afterwards. Maybe a little after breakfast as well just to have that extra time." Trunks answered.
"Sounds like a plan. I'm going to make a call." Bulma happily responded before heading to her room.
Ten Minutes Later:
"How did that go?" Trunks and Vegeta questioned when Bulma walked into the kitchen.
"Well, if we're interested; we can go look at the house tomorrow. And if we like the house, we can make a deal and see what he says. I would've agreed to in a half an hour, but I don't know when Bulla's going to be home." Bulma answered.
"You could always call Gohan or Videl and ask one of them; they'd be able to tell you. And honestly, I'd do that because you know how Bulla's going to react; she already doesn't want to move there." Trunks replied, watching Miyuki; she started twitching a little.
"Now, why didn't I think of that? I'll be right back." Bulma replied after blankly staring at Trunks for a few seconds…
