It In The Middle Of The Night~
Henry was fast asleep in his bed while Hugo was wide awake calling his Dad.
"Come on ,Dad ,please pick up already...",whispered Hugo to himself.
He held his phone in his hand while it rang. Inside Hugo's head, he couldn't believe that Henry was able to sleep throughout the dialing and how he was waiting impatiently to see if his father would pick up.
Hugo's father, Hades ,was always busy. Back when he was a kid, his Dad would, sometimes, leave him with a babysitter to keep him company. He was left alone a lot. Even there were times when he returned home, Hugo's Dad would just go to sleep leaving Hugo wide awake waiting for staring out waiting for his Dad to pay attention to him. Even just to say, "Good Night". It just never seemed to happen.
Hugo also didn't have a mom in his life and whenever he asked his Dad what was her name,and ,what happened to her, Hades would always say the same thing.
"Your mom left you when you were a baby.", Hades would murmur.
That was the hardest thing that Hugo ever heard in his life and it took him a long time to recover from it.
His Dad would say that he is all the family that Hugo had. That wouldn't stop him from being friends with Henry,Lizzy and Daiyu.
Since they all grew up with each other on the alleyway. Hugo was most close with Henry. Henry is the son of Hans and he was always there for him.
Hugo respected that Henry took on this "brother" role for him until Hades finally answered the phone
"Hey son, how's it going? Did you steal the wand yet?",asked Hades.
"No Dad, not yet.",said Hugo
"Oh.",said Hades.
"Dad,can I ask you something?",opened Hugo.
"Sure what is it son?",asked Hades
"Do you think we could move on from stealing the wand? I mean Auradon isn't a really bad school and..." Hugo paused.
Hades interrupted,"Woah,woah your not befriending those Auradon kids are you!?"
"No,no Dad, it's just I realize Auradon isn't a really bad place. I mean, there is this girl and..."said' Hugo could finish his sentence Hades interrupted again.
"Oh so you have a "girlfriend" now!? Great! This is after what I told you about befriending those Auradon kids!?", exploded Hades.
"No Dad it's nothing like that..."stuttered Hugo.
"No son! Remember you're not here to make friends. You're here to finish what Mal started and think, probably, that "girlfriend" of yours doesn't even like you!",yelled Hades.
"Dad, can I at least finish my sentence!",said Hugo.
"No son, listen! You are not going to be like those "peppy" Auradon kids for long. Their difference to us become a bore. You are MY son and that is it!",yelled Hades.
That is when Hugo got quiet. His Dad was right. Hugo is his son. He knows that one day when he is old enough he will take his Dad's place to rule the Underworld.
"You're right, I am your son.",responded Hugo softly, yet, sadly.
"Good! Now ,I need to hang up.",groaned Hades as he hung up after Hades hung up Hugo put his phone away ,and, looked at the sleeping Henry then decided to grab his pajamas to get change and go right to sleep.
