Author's forward: A new chapter is here and I hope you like it! I've been trying to make longer fighting scenes to fit with the improvement of the fighters, which turned out to be more work than I expected, so I ended up making a shorter chapter, but I'll try to compensate for it by adding a chapter 5.2. For the moment, just enjoy! And as always thank you for the views, reviews and comments. You motivate me to keep writing.
Chapter 5: Hitting the hard metal
"Go ahead, then. what did you say your name was?" Lee Chaolan asked the new challenger.
"Haven't said it yet, I'm Shin Kamiya."
Ling Xiaoyu meticulously examined her finally found target. His hair, his heyes, his face, everything matched with the picture. Even so, he was more muscular now. It was very noticeable that, In the last three years, the young man took care of his body to have a strong structure. The other thing Xiayou was able to see changed was his gaze. In the picture his eyes were so gentle, now they were surrounded by a heavy coldness, too familiar for the chinese student. It was the same ice look ported by some of the fighters she had encountered in her trajectory as a martial artist. That was the gaze of someone who has been through a lot, but he's not so willing to share it with you.
"Excellent! Shin Kamiya, you are about to test the limits of your human capacities. Combot!" The android changed its posture for the third time in the night, raising its hands to the level of what was supposed to be a chin and bouncing in its place. It's going to be taekwondo this time. Shin put himself in front of the robot making some kind of karate stance. Xiaoyu took advantage of the situation to take a couple of pictures of Shin Kamiya with her G Phone. I feel like a crazy stalker taking shots of him, but it could be useful later. And she started to record him in a video.
"Fight!" And the battle begined.
Combot started making a Sweep Kick, which Shin avoided with a fast jump right on time. The robot took advantage of his leap by immediately doing a Right Kick Combo to Right Flamingo, but Shin made it to block the three kicks with his arms, only getting a little push back. Nice reflexes, he's sharp. Now it was Shin's turn to make a move. He took a firm and long step forward while lowering his head, like he was to make a low attack, only to instead do a high punch, which Combot was not able to predict on time, so it received the hit and flew two meters in the air, while Shin took distance from its opponent.
Xiaoyu stood stunned by that move. How much time, how many years had been since the last time she had seen a Dragon Uppercut? A legendary move, only performed for the practitioners of the traditional Mishima Style Karate. What on Earth was that? If the young spy hadn't been so shocked, maybe she would have noticed how Lee Chaolan's face got tense as the metal of his creation for a second, but he instantly relaxed, choosing for the moment to pay attention to this performance, which had turned very interesting in just a second.
Ready as if it had not received a punch, Combot made a roll in the ground to trew its body towards Shin, who moved himself to the side to avoid the painful collision. Now standing parallel to him, Combot made a Bloody Guillotine. Shin barely dodged it, but he got out of focus and received a bone stinger right in his left shoulder, followed by an Ankle Biter to lose balance, and a Sky Rocket kick to send him flying. Now he was the one in the air, and Combot intercepted his landing with a Hunting Hawk combo, three aerial kicks that left him semi unconscious on the floor.
The students grunted with disappointment After Shin Kamiya's fall, while Lee made a small chuckle with a cocky smile. He was ready to approach the center and talk about Kamiya's lack of endurance and his inability to remain in composure in front of an unexpected tactic. But before he could take even a step, Shin suddenly jumped back on his feet and performed a Demon Breath right in Combot's uncovered middle section, making it collapse instantly. Combot was about to stand up, but was surprised by Shin Jumping and executing the Demon Scissors, hitting it right in the head and ending with both on the floor. He was not gonna be defeated too easily.
Shin stood first rolling his body to the side while Combot, as he suspected, rolled forward to launch itself again, missing its target. Combot was parallel to Shin once more, but this time the mysterious fighter was more assertive, accomplishing a Spinning Demon, a Demon Slayer and a Leaping Sidekick, throwing the A.I. a couple of meters away from him. Shin Charged towards Combot without losing time. Combot stood this time rolling backwards and prepared to intercept Shin with a Backlash Kick, but this time it was Shin who rolled in the ground and launched his body towards the androit, avoiding the kick for centimeters and graving its arms firmly. It was time to make his final move, gathering all his strength, Shin pushed down Combot head and kept its lower part in a lock while raising it and himself in a leap to make a Jumping Powerbomb. The robot's corpus collided strongly to the floor, leaving a new hole in it.
Kamiya stood out fast in front of the damaged robot while keeping his guard up, not disposed to let himself be caught out of guard again . The machine's circuits started to glitch frantically as it stubbornly tried to regain its stance.
"Combot!" Said Lee Chaolan with a serious expression. Everybody looked at him, wondering what was going to be his next move. Did he have an ace under his sleeve? Lee looked at Shin carefully one more time, and finally he commanded. "Game Over."
The android immediately shot down, collapsing in the new hole like a rag doll. The crowd burst in cheers and screams of the chinese fighter would have done it if that would not reveal her hideout. It was an incredible battle, but it had left more questions in her mind. She needed to get closer, so carefully, and taking advantage of the noise, she slided two floors down and now she was more comfortable to make her next move, whatever it would be.
Looking for some DNA left in the land, Xiaoyu noticed something impressive. Even after receiving some good punches straight to his face there was not a drop of blood pouring out of Shin Kamiya's body. He was sweating, after all, he just finished a good sparring session, but he didn't have any bruises or cuts, he even didn't look tired. Yet, giving a closer look of him, he was wearing a bandage in his left hand, and it seemed to go all the way to his arm. Did he fight injured? Only his hand didn't look in pain or with restricted motion.
"Marvelous! What an exquisite display of hard work and natural talent combined. I never expected you would be able to emulate an opponent's move after just seeing it two times."
"What can I say? Your friend inspired me." Shin answered, giving a couple chuckles to his classmates.
"You have a sense of humor. I like that in the people that work with me. I've spent too much of my youth pleasing grumpy old people to know they are not worthy, but you..." He paused a little before continuing. "You really are special. I think Violet Systems can make good use of someone of your tremendous abilities, if you are still interested, of course."
"Thanks, I couldn't ask for anything else."
"Excellent! I think this time calls for a celebration." And clapping his hand to times, a bunch of new robots appeared. These ones weren't bipedal, just a bunch of big metal boxes with wheels to move around. They drove to the middle of the battle ground and then opened, showing being filled with expensive and just prepared food, drinks and even music. The crowd got wild of excitement again, serving themselves some food while casually chatting and laughing. It finally looked like a real party.
"Now, I imagine you must have a couple of questions about you hiring, but I propose to you to talk about it after we provide ourselves with some nourishment. Don't you agree?" Xiaoyu was thrilled about this good news. She only needed to look for whatever food or drink Shin would grab and take it to get a sample of his DNA. In the end, this job turned out to be easier than she expected.
"Should we sign a contract first?" Shin asked with a slightly tense tone, like he was suddenly nervous about what was happening. Lee just reacted by chuckling a little for his new ally's straightness.
"For the moment, let's just settle with a hand shake." Lee raised his right hand and, in a particularly slow pace, Shin walked towards him. Xiaoyu noticed his movements. Shin wasn't as composed as he was a moment ago, his gaze got even colder, and maybe with a little bit of doubt. Perhaps he is already regretting this. Was the only explanation she could take from the situation.
But Xiaoyu's attention couldn't stay too much time focused on Shin's expresion, something was moving behind him. Only she noticed Combot's eyes turned on again, looking straight to where Shin was standing. The young spy was not sure of what she was seeing, until Combot's left claw changed into a long and sharp sword and her instinct activated. He was in danger, she needed to act immediately.
Out of desperation, Xiaoyu jumped off the second floor to a column to position her stance and eject herself directly to where the A.I. was about to attack. And, indeed, a the same time she rushed, Combot stood up and ran to pounce over the two men, disposed to finish them with a Quick Slash of the new katana, but just before it could finish its lethal move, the chinese fighter landed and grabbed the robot's left shoulder, throwing it far away with an Arm Flip.
Everyone was now looking surprised at the strange little girl who appeared out of nowhere just to flip away a mad android.
"What the.."
"Stay back! It's armed!" Xiaoyu interrupted Shin, who was still processing what just happened.
"Combot! What's the meaning of this outrageous sneak attack?" Lee Chaolan asked firmly, but Combot didn't look like he was hearing. Its circuits were still glitching and its movements were crazy. The android made the Flea stance over its sword while jumping in its place frantically. "Combot! Turn off your system!"
But Combot ignored its master, instead, it fixed its gaze to the newcomer who had kept it out of its way. Xiaoyu then knew the android had chosen its new challenger. Combot advanced doing a Running Flea towards her, and when it got closer it attacked the young girl with a Cyclone Lift, but Xiaoyu dodged it with a Dive Roll Right, and when positioned backwards she sent it away with a Monkey Kick. Combot then performed the Manji Dragonfly just before hitting the ground, now flying.
It was not her first time facing an opponent with the power up of a sword. The Manji Clan style was not made for self defence, but to survive doing whatever it took, murder included. She knew she needed to make distance or else she would end up stabbed with no second chance to do it right. In order to win, she needed to be fast, and she needed to be fearless in her strikes.
"I'll help you!" Shin screamed while approaching her.
"No!" Xiaoyu stopped him before he could get too close. She didn't want help right now, neither did she need it. Another fighter meant another body in danger of getting sliced. She could not take care of herself while taking care of someone else. Here and now, even if facing an adversary holding a weapon was highly dangerous, and even if her opponent was ready to kill her, she knew she was the only one who could face this issue, and she had to do it all by herself. She knew the reason for doing it that way, and she communicated it to Shin. "This is my fight. I got it."
Xiaoyu turned around to face her opponent, Which was heading towards her still flying. Combot got closer and proceeded with a dragonfly twister. Yet the petite martial artist was faster, so she avoided the high spinning kick with her Phoenix stance, followed by a Phoenix Talon, with the three kicks making contact without missing. Combot was sent to the air. Getting closer to the ground, Xiaoyu acted quickly and intercepted it with her Phoenix Double Palm, making the machine collide even harder than before.
Combot stood in the ground, still glitching, but vastly unlikely to stand again. Its mechanic parts clickled for the damage, and one by one all of them became lifeless again, except for the head that only could turn around. The battle was over. Ling Xiaoyu won with a perfect performance, and the crow got wild one more time.
Even so, her remarkable victory wasn't able to delete the fact she had uncovered her position as an intruder. Xiaoyu turned around and saw Shin Kamiya staring at her amazed . When he found her eyes also watching him, he turned into a more serious look and went right to face her.
"Who are you?" He asked firmly. The young spy was not sure of what she should answer. His ice glare was too strong for her to keep facing, so she tried to look somewhere else. That's when she noticed that there was no one behind him.
"Where did Violet go?"
"What!" Kamiya turned around and looked everywhere desperate. Lee had just escaped. "Dang it!'' He screamed with frustration. Nevertheless, this complication got quickly covered by a bigger one.
A loud alarm sounded in the whole fabric, making the other students panic for the confusion. Before anyone could understand what was happening, two machines enfolded by a cloth cover started to move. With trembling movement, the covers were torn off, revealing not being an ordinary manufacture, but two giant robots, with a human looking form, but with a metal skin and a military uniform. On their shoulders were printed the words "Prototype Jack.", which was enough to make Xiaoyu understand her problems had just begun.
To be continued...
Author's note:Stay tuned for the next part, where there would be more fights involved. I love to write fight scenes, they are so fun. And even if I loved the ones shown in the movie, I felt like they were not enough. This was a film made out of a fighting game. I want people fighting every three seconds. I want fights for honor, surviving, revenge, getting the control remote. Everything! Besides, I wanted to show Shin's streng in a cool and proper way. I tried to make him use the most general techniques of the Mishima Karate Style, but I also took some of Heihachi's movements when I needed to, I feel like that would be right for him.
Thoughts during the creation process: Lately I found myself extraordinarily comfortable by writing from midnight to 5 in the morning. It turned out this is my writing moment, when I get to do three pages of inspiration. I love it, but at the same time I know I'm messing up my schedules hard. Right now it is not a problem, because classes haven't started yet, but I know next week I should stop this.
