Chapter 29: the longest day…

The gaze that Misaki gave off to Mina already gave Mina an idea of what it meant, trying to provoke the latter Mina slowly walked forwards to Misaki to confirm her hunch slowly leaning near her ear so Aichi wouldn't be able to hear what Mina spoke in a low voice "Was it about the toudans turning to an enemy?"

Hearing words that Misaki sure she wouldn't hear from Mina came out, as if tempting her, making her miss the target. Misaki dumbfounded hastily turned to face Mina with determined expression on her eyes Mina who already knew that Misaki would turn towards her immediately jumps backwards while showing a somewhat pained smile.

Noticing Misaki's sudden action, Aichi decided to stop from his shooting and asked "Did something happen?" looking at a bothered Misaki and a now smiling Mina. Feeling that there might again be something wrong Aichi tried to prepares himself for the worse.

Mina clapped her hands once "Hey Aichi!" Aichi gulped thinking that with that smile and with that clap Mina must have thought of something again and prepared himself more thinking that his earlier assumptions were in fact on he hit "Why don't we try making a sword to try if we can try and you can learn more about refining?"

Aichi moved backwards a little while Mina continued to move forward to him "Eh? Are you sure?" Aichi raised both his hands in defense hesitating a little at the idea.

Mina sighed "I know that expression, that expression says that you are hesitating because of the fate the sword will fall unto", as always Aichi is worried about the new sword, thinking it might be his fault Mina thinks of something that can reassure him. Mina once again moved slowly in front of Aichi and held both his hands "Just think of it this way, a piece of his soul is back to him. Although it is really somewhat like that." Mina looked away a little and met Misaki's eyes instead then hastily turned it back to Aichi.

Aichi can somewhat feel that all the toudans are incomplete, so in order to take it to test, his skills and his abilities, learning new stuff, he must not be afraid, thinking about it more Aichi nodded to Mina's offer but there is a slight problem on this "I would like to but my divine po-" before Aichi could finish his sentence he was cut off by Mina squeezing his hands in the process that surprised him.

"I will help you if you really don't have anymore. Although by now I am sure you can do it on your own." Mina smiled "I trust in your ability, and also it's been almost 10 days, so I think you can do it, I mean we aren't going to use much just a little..." But then suddenly her expression turned sour once again.

"I seriously need to know what this itching feeling I am getting is." Mina turned towards the training hall but it seems that nothing has happened that would cause the anxious feeling she is getting at.

"There can only be one thing" Misaki murmured that made Mina looked at the direction of the citadel "The kitchen" both Mina and Misaki said in unison.

Aichi slowly looked at his bracelet "I'm feeling that there is a large number of toudans inside the kitchen though."

"Hearing that already gave me a bad feeling." Mina said.

"And remember that Yamanbagiri and Horikawa were following Yagen when he went to the training hall" Misaki added, making it all sum up, that something happened in the kitchen and it seems it only got worse "I guess placing that kind of group in the kitchen is bad choice".

Mina sighed "Anyways, since Horikawa and Yagen are there, we can rest assure they can handle it, I hope." Mina slowly started to walk towards the training hall.

"I'm sure Hasebe can also help" Aichi fully trust in Hasebe.

Mina blankly stared at Aichi before calling Shokudaikiri's attention "Shokudaikiri!"

"Yes Mina-nee?" Shokudaikiri responded to the call while noticing a signal that means come here.

When Shokudaikiri met with Mina halfway, the two talked for a while that seemed to be fishy since they both have a somewhat irked feeling vibe on their conversation. After the two nod to each other the two part ways with a somewhat defeated look on their face.

"Alright Aichi, let's help you create a sword, then head to the kitchen fast!" Mina instructed Aichi meaning the Archery practice is over "You can come with us if you want Misaki-chan."

Misaki blushed a little not used to the suffix chan "Is it alright to watch him make a sword?" Misaki felt hesitant.

"Y-yeah…" With a hint of doubt on her voice.

"I'll not take your offer then." Misaki continued to practice instead.

"No it's alright if you want you can also help…" Mina offered "I wonder where Konnosuke is though…" Mina hastily turned around and pushed Aichi and Misaki before leaving the arrows and bow.

~Smithing Room~

Changed to the outfit needed for smithing Aichi started the preparations while Misaki gave him a hand.

While Aichi and Misaki do their thing, Mina can't help but feel like something really isn't right and can't help but feel like it's taking forever every minute "I know it's not right to hurry you but will it be alright I you pick-up the pace a little?"

Aichi nodded to Mina's request "Alright." Hurrying a little, they surprisingly finish earlier also because of Misaki's help.

Although before the final process which is the moving process Aichi accidently cut his finger using the sword from hurrying and because of this, Aichi and the others didn't notice the blood that smeared on the sword slowly disappear as if it was absorbing it.

"Alright let's hurry, I can't shake this feeling anymore." Not waiting for Aichi to change and not noticing the wound from Aichi's finger Mina busted out from the smithing, while Misaki decided to follow Mina "I'm going ahead."

"A-alright!" panicking, Aichi hurried to change his attire and treated his wound then headed straight to the kitchen only to see…

~Kitchen~

Chaos in the kitchen, Aichi who just arrived felt a disturbing and heavy aura coming from Mina while scolding the whole toudans inside the kitchen "I can't believe what happened to the kitchen!" Mina was not very pleased, everyone in the kitchen had their head hanging too guilty to even look at her.

"I gave this role to all of you to see if you can handle normal things, to show that I trust all of you can do this." Mina placed a hand on her fore head "I can't believe what you did to this place you disappoint me, it's like you treated this as not important and belittled it." Mina paused for a moment when she noticed their heads are turned over to the side when Aichi arrived to the kitchen it seems that aside from guilt they felt ashamed upon seeing Aichi.

Noticing their reaction it seems she understood what she needs to do next, smiling with a menacing aura forming around her she spoke words that the whole group didn't expect "If you cannot do simple things as this, I don't think I can trust you with Aichi, I think I will have to ban you from going to the front lines and just do expeditions!" hearing it from Mina, the toudans in the kitchen didn't retort though they had different reaction that Mina wanted to see, that they really want to repent.

"W-wait Mina-nee!" Aichi stepped in when he heard something most of the toudans would surely be unhappy with adding to it their reactions kind of appealed to him although this is Aichi we were talking about.

Seeing the toudans didn't say nor retort to what she said, she continued to what she really planned "Alright, seeing as you are all guilty and didn't speak a word, I think I would think about it when I hear from Kiyomitsu and Yagen what really happened." She paused for a moment when she noticed the sudden change of expression from the toudans "After." Everyone felt as if they stopped breathing.

Aichi already figured out Mina from what she is doing, she is clearly playing with them though it is clear that they can all still feel the menacing aura around her the part where she is disappointed is true "After, you all clean this up and still be able to cook up dinner then I will think about banning you."

All the toudans felt the air and light came back to them "Kiyomitsu, Yagen, Yamanbagiri, and Horikawa will not help in the cleaning but only help with the food preparation." All the toudans felt like they wanted to say something and it didn't go past Mina and waited for the real culprit to show up.

Kiyomitsu raised his hands "this whole chaos, kind of started from me…" Kiyomitsu's eyes trailed off to Aichi but then hastily moved downwards.

Mina sighed surprised that it actually came from him something she did not expect "I'll hear it later, for now Kiyomitsu and Yagen you help too, things would be much faster if Horikawa and Yamanbagiri helps too." The four nodded and decided to help.

"I'll stay here and keep watch and see to it that you really do your job properly." Mina crossed her arms as she watches the toudans clean.

Misaki had sweat drops hanging on her head, surprised at what had just happened she can say that it would be bad to mess with Saniwas or to be precise with Mina.

~Training Hall~

Hours passed and Shokudaikiri's group finally finished their training and decided to head to the kitchen with the others. And while heading to the kitchen the group made small talks, precisely only the four toudans.

"So what do you think really happened?" Tsurumaru joked a little.

Making Shokudaikiri sigh at the thought "I doubt I'm the only who felt that aura." Was the only thing he could say.

Tsurumaru cringed at the thought "Yeah, I bet it was something terrible to make her angry like that."

"It's scary if you anger her." Midare stated.

"I would not like to see it y'know" Mutsunokami said, placing a hand where his gun is usually placed.

~Kitchen~

Finally on their way to the kitchen they can see Misaki and Aichi sitting on the veranda with Yamanbagiri and Horikawa standing behind Aichi.

"Yo! Aichi-sama." Tsurumaru was the first to call out to Aichi.

Then Shokudaikiri greeted Aichi "Hello Aichi-sama."

"Hello Aichi-sama." Midare said while hurrying to Aichi's side.

"How ya' doin Aichi-sama" Mutsunokami greeted.

Hearing voices from outside the toudans preparing dinner stole glances outside to see the approaching voices.

Hearing his name called he looked for the owners of the voice "Oh, did you all just finished? How was training?" He asked while standing up followed by Misaki though upon successfully standing up he saw Midare in front of him and decided to pat his head for a job well done.

"It went well, so how is the kitchen?" Shokudaikiri asked and turned to see what has befallen onto the kitchen only to see that it is already clean and the toudans inside are now preparing dinner noticing constant stares from their group. "Although I don't know exactly what happened, I'm sure I will hear it later."

Wanting to finish early Shokudaikiri decided to help to prepare it faster only to be stopped by Mina's hand who was standing in front of the door "Let them be Shokudaikiri, everyone in the kitchen is at fault, and since I know Yamanbagiri and Horikawa didn't do anything but I decided to let them join in the cleaning but not in the preparing of it."

"But if we help it would be much faster." Horikawa objected to her decision.

Mina sighed "Didn't I say that this was their punishment?" Horikawa turned his head to the side unable to do anything.

"Don't worry Horikawa, everything will turn out alright." Aichi assured thinking that this is just kitchen chaos, what will happen if its expedition or worse front lines chaos, Aichi can't help but think that he is thankful to have Mina guide him, with Mina always making things in order always helping him to grow. Thinking that if it was only just him he wouldn't know what to do.

"Aichi-sama!" Horikawa expressed deep happiness form Aichi's assurance.

"I'm still wondering where Konnosuke is though." Tsurumaru's question was the last that made everyone fell silent and wait while watching the others prepare with broken hearts inside the toudans.

Another few hours have passed and finally the preparation of the food has finished but then Misaki made a comment that made Aichi confused.

"Hey Aichi." Misaki called Aichi's attention while they still watch the toudans finishing in the kitchen by cleaning the utensils used.

"Yeah?" Aichi responded.

"How long does it take to usually make a Tachi?" Misaki asked that baffled Aichi.

"Oh when I summoned Shokudaikiri it took me 3 hours, then 3 hours and 20 minutes for Tsurumaru, why did you ask?" Aichi answered. Making Shokudaikiri and Tsurumaru smile to one another while they couldn't help but listen to their conversation eager to know who the new Tachi will be.

"Well you did make a Tachi right?" Misaki reminded Aichi.

"No, it was an Uchigatana?" Aichi responded confused at what Misaki was saying all the Uchigatana mainly Yasusada, Hasebe, Yamanbagiri, Mutsunokami and Kiyomitsu turned to see that another Uchigatana will join while Shokudaikiri and Tsurumaru felt defeated.

But then "Wait I thought Aichi-sama is forbidden from summoning?" Kiyomitsu stopped from what he was doing while all the toudans look at where Mina is standing even Miwa, Kai, and Kamui.

Mina trying to escape the gazes hastily turned to Misaki and Aichi "Oh no! I think when I tried to hurry you, you accidentally made a Tachi" but then it struck her "Wait Aichi, didn't you always start a countdown timer?"

Aichi flinched "No, I was in a hurry to remember!" he started to panic a little.

Mina hastily went face to face with Misaki that made her slightly uncomfortable and surprised "Do you remember how long time has passed?"

Misaki rummaged through her pocket looking for her phone since she can't see a clock inside the kitchen "It's only 1 minute left before reaching its 4 hours mark upon its creation."

Aichi was too panicked and hurried to the smithing room to check on the said sword.

~Smithing room~

Upon reaching the room Aichi took the sword and did the final process when the wound opened up accidentally and a blood dropped onto the sword, while treating it and covered it with bandaged he didn't notice that the sword absorbed it once again, but then he noticed the sword now engulfed in rainbow light, walking slowly towards it.

He thought that it could be dangerous to summon this sword as it looks like it is a high ranked sword Aichi hesitated a little, but then a thought crossed his mind placing a hand on top of the sword while the other rummaging and taking out a talisman imbued with his divine powers Aichi spoke "If I can't do the simplest things such as this then what about the toughest ones that will come. If I can't do even this and collapse from just summoning a new sword then that means I am too weak to be their Saniwa!"

Aichi breathed in while closing his eyes "if I can't do the simplest things" he repeated "Then I have no right to be called their Saniwa! I am the Saniwa of this citadel this is my duty, and I will do everything in my power to grow strong and to be able to support them!" He lunged out with his eyes now open. Because of his strong resolve and determination Aichi felt his whole body lightened up, as if something that weighed on his body was gone, it was shackles that bind him broke.

"You never ceases to amaze me" a voice said that made Aichi lost his focus for a moment a voice he wasn't familiar with but then a sound that seemed like something fell distracted him more.

"Aichi, your other power won't hinder you anymore, your divine powers is more powerful than ever because of your strong bond with your toudans, your love, and care for them, use this chance while your heart, mind, and body is in unison with your resolve, it's time!" The voice Aichi was surely familiar with said that gave him the support he needs.

Giving Aichi additional confidence he closed his eyes and prayed deeply "I beg of you guide us…" continuing to pray a prayer deep in his heart while a tear drop dropped from his eyes and fell unto the sword, as if responding to his prayer the rainbow light engulfed in it became a much powerful glow.

Aichi used the talisman glowing in magnificent blue and then a sudden gust of wind almost made him almost fly away luckily he was able to stand ground, although the wind didn't stop, the fierceness of it subsided and with it comes out cherry blossoms petal and a very bright rainbow light where he has to shield his eyes from, then he heard a voice.

"Mikazuki Munechika. They call me Mikazuki on account of the many patterns on my blade. Please take care of me."

Clothed in magnificent blue with a crescent moon pattern on his beautiful kimono Aichi can't help but be in awe at who has heard his prayers, Mikazuki Munechika, said to be one of the five great swords of heaven and said to be the most beautiful out of them and they weren't lying he thought, but the most attracting and beautiful was his eyes that looks like a crescent moon shining brightly mesmerizing Aichi who became greatly dumbfounded looking at this masterpiece.

But then his daydreaming was immediately halted when a voice called out to him "Aichi!" Mina said who looks as if she ran a marathon came bursting to enter the room.

"M-Mina… nee…" Aichi spoke surprised at the sudden outburst of Mina but then a sudden dizziness struck him making him loose balance and topple, good thing Mikazuki was just in front of him so he was able to catch him.

Mina seeing what consequences she has made hurried to Aichi's side "I'm sorry Aichi" Mina felt tears will fall down any second.

"Don't worry Mina, it was just a sudden surge of power because of his powerful divine ability its nothing like life or death with summoning toudans like before" the voice happily spoke while Mina shifted her head hastily from left and right looking for the owner of voice, only to see the missing little fox, Konnosuke.

"Konnosuke?!" Mina was surprised even Aichi, they both shouted his name in unison.

But then their little reunion from said missing fox for a whole day was ended by Mikazuki "I assume hearing from this lady that my new master's name is Aichi." Aichi and Mina's attention was brought back to the new toudan where even she was not immune to his beautiful appearance and aura.

"Aichi, who did you summon?" Amazed at Mikazuki, she couldn't help not to take away her eyes.

"My name is Mikazuki Munechika." Mina gaped at what she heard. "And hearing from your conversation summoning us is not safe for my master's health" he wanted to confirm through hearing to their conversation.

"It used to be like that" immediately after what Mikazuki said her attention went to Aichi "Aichi! You don't feel anything strange right?" Mina asked while still staring at Aichi while both Mikazuki's hands are now placed on top of Aichi's shoulder supporting him.

"I'm fine just really dizzy…" He answered while placing a hand on his head.

"Konnosuke!" Mina panicked a little.

"Relax a little Mina, tell me, whose powerful divine ability can you feel?" Konnosuke asked in a serious tone.

Mina paused for a while calming her mind and trying to confirm the powers she felt that made her hurry "That sudden surge of power… was Aichi's?!" Mina said in surprise "Aichi, what happened?!".

"It's because of Aichi's resolved his divine ability rose up, I think it rose about to a highest percentage of almost 50 from his just previous roughly around 20." Konnosuke explained in numbers the great change in Aichi "Although since the other one is still trying to come out first and hinder his divine powers from growing, Aichi wasn't able to let it all out but because his resolve won his divine power was able to come rise up." Konnosuke was overjoyed while explaining to Mina.

Mina slowly looked at Mikazuki again something that bothered her when he saw him "Hmm…" Mina stared at Mikazuki studying his features then something struck her "Aichi… he has your features…" Mina has concluded, surprised.

Aichi tilted his head "Oh the sword absorbed his blood when Aichi accidentally cut his fingers while moving him, then while taking it out some blood dropped from it again" Mina and Aichi cringed from the thought understanding their reactions "Don't worry it doesn't mean like it's a vampire sword, it just only means that it made it much more powerful by… absorbing your… DNA…" Konnosuke said "Oh my…" Mina and Aichi gulped while Mikazuki silently listens to what is happening.

"It only means that you two are tightly bonded than the others since he has your blood in him, oh, this is going to take a long explanation…" Konnosuke dropped his head. "This could spur jealousy on the other toudans so let us just keep it to us four, adding to what I said earlier, aside from the fact that he is already powerful being a rank 5 sword, Aichi, he is a much powerful and special because you two are connected, but I will explain it more later, for now introduce yourself."

Aichi nodded as if it was a signal for Mikazuki to let go of his shoulders then Aichi looked at Mikazuki in the eyes "Mikazuki-san, my name is Aichi Sendou I am the Saniwa of this citadel." Mina, Konnosuke and even Mikazuki can feel the hint of authority in his voice "You may call me using my name" he spoke with his normal gentleness in his voice.

"I understand, I am glad that you became my new master, Aichi-sama…" Mikazuki placed a hand to his chest bowing a little.
