Summary/Disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Swordsmen and Thief. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I do not own any rights to Fairy Tale, Hiro Mashima, Kodansha and a few others that I may write about.
Erza's sword clashed with Clell's daggers as he looked at her with sheer confusion. He said nothing, however and continued the fight. He knew she was still mad at something in the end… Was it him? The fact that both had a lot on their plate was something that both knew was happening.
"Why are you this upset?" Erza heard from Clell as he spun the daggers through his fingers. "Why? You can tell me at the end of the day what had happened here." Clell stated while he cracked a small smile.
He dodged a sword blade that had almost cut his ribs. Clell backflipped backwards as he landed in a crouch, looking at her with confusion and clear interest. He knew for a fact that she was far more powerful when it came down to it. Clell nodded while he started to ponder once more as he rushed forward, locking blades with Erza once more.
Erza was silent as she knocked Clell back with another kick which almost took him to the ground. He recovered in time to turn and kick her foot out as she leapt at him with her blades raised in his direction. Erza parried the dagger only for him to grab her and throw her to the ground.
"You keep acting like it's so easy to throw your problems away." Erza added as Clell hummed and blinked at the moment. "Why do you hide your insecurities at this place? You're a thief, you do not constantly go the combat route like me or the others, correct?" Erza questioned as Clell shrugged and then leapt forward.
"I feel like something wants us to be here, yet it's for their own purpose, not for ours." Clell said while he gestured around him as he let out a yawn. "Why do you forget that this place has a weird feel to it? I feel like something is always watching us like they know more about us." Clell stated with a sigh.
"I have felt people watching us… But that does not mean they are enemies." Erza relied as Clell raised an eyebrow. "If someone wanted us dead? Why would they lure us here? You should be well aware how the guild is seen as by people." Erza said while Clell hummed and started to look around.
"That does NOT mean there are not going to be enemies." Clell responded as he pointed his daggers at Erza. "Your well aware the stronger someone is? The more power people want to take away from them… You're the top of the power structure, that just gives anyone looking to make a name for themselves." Clell said which got a nod from Erza.
She couldn't argue that point, she was WELL aware of how strong Fairy Tail was to others and such. Clell swung his daggers through his fingers as he looked at her with a confused look while he sighed mentally.
He knew for a fact that this place was a death trap. He had guessed that this was a trap for something, it was far more curious HOW something like this had been set up. This place was going to be a nightmare sooner or later.
"You should get some rest." Clell stated while he paused and started to walk away a moment later. "We will be there within 2 nights or so I believe from what I've heard… If that's true? Then we should keep a closer eye on things so we don't get caught off guard like we were a few days ago." Clell said as he spun his daggers and sheathed them upon his back a moment later.
Erza watched, quite unsure what was going to happen next when she thought about it. There was a lot to process, but she couldn't put her finger on what was the issue.
"This talk isn't over yet, Clell." Erza started to say as Clell turned toward her. "We should still talk about this, your WELL aware about how things could go if we don't have a plan." Erza added as Clell shrugged to himself a moment later.
"Yeah, I'm sure that we do… But both of us are tired and exhausted and you know this at the moment." Clell said with a shrug as he cracked his fingers. "Your well aware how badly that would go and what would happen if we stayed here all night. It isn't going to do anything but slowly drain us and then what? What happens if more of those soldiers and such show up." Clell questioned which got a nod from Erza who didn't know how to respond to that a moment later.
Clell sighed and rubbed at his temples, tired and worn down such a little later. He guessed the last part of this trip would be impossible to lose.
