Chapter 51: Troubling swords
"So Ookurikara huh…" Mina looks from straight up to down as if measuring him up "I can see why Aichi-kun thought of you Shokudaikiri".
Right now the guardians are altogether with Mina as they noticed that there is a crowd with the new sword and decided to greet him.
"Yeah, he too is a sword of Lord Date Masamune same with me and Tsuru-san." Shokudaikiri mentioned.
"It still feels too surreal hearing those…" Miwa muffled through his voice as he still isn't used to this summoning swords stuff from the past.
Hearing Miwa "Yeah…" Misaki agrees with him since it's only just been a month since they started becoming a guardian.
In fact they once again were reminded of the seriousness of what they took up when they saw Aichi and the others came back injured and bleeding from their mission.
"Well, aside from being Aichi-sama's still current attendant and his favor I will help him get a tour of the place." Shokudaikiri said and before he continues on he was cut off by Ookurikara.
"I don't need it, I can do it alone." Ookurikara looks away as he started to walk away before Tsurumaru came in and stopped from his tracks.
"I met up with Aichi-sama in the hallway on his way to his room and told me to take care of the new sword along with Mitsubou." Tsurumaru waved to them as he entered the hall "And I think I can already see why." He grinned at the certain new sword "Yo, Karabou nice to see you again, it's Tsurumaru Kuninaga."
Ookurikara tries to get away but then Tsurumaru was able to stop him by placing his arm around his nape "Looking at what I just interrupted into, you were going to have a self-introduction with everyone and then tour the place."
"So introductions are in order who would like to go first?" Tsurumaru smiled at Mutsunokami and Midare as they proceeded to do so while Shokudaikiri reintroduced himself.
After Mutsunokami, Midare, and Shokudaikiri it was Mina and the guardians turn.
"I'm Mina Tsukiru, I act as your master's teacher, and there is a pipe fox here named Konnosuke who-." Mina introduced himself and then did the liberty of talking about Konnosuke but was interrupted by Ookurikara.
"I don't think that this kind of introductions are necessary in getting stronger to fight in the battlefield." Ookurikara sighs in annoyance.
And with that kind of attitude the guardians lost interest in the new sword and didn't proceed on their own introduction as a result they did not like this new sword one bit.
"I don't specifically care about your attitude but at least I hope you do understand who your master is." Kai spoke surprising the others as he glares intently at Ookurikara. Somehow the others thought of the same, with his attitude and how he acts they can't even imagine how he will act towards Aichi.
Ookurikara did the same as he glares at Kai for a moment as he quoted "Hmp… I don't care and I don't intend on getting along, as long as I can fight that is enough." Slapping Tsurumaru's hand as he let's go, Ookurikara left the area.
"Sheesh… Kai is much more approachable." Miwa nervously laughs.
"I somehow think they are the same though." Kamui added.
"And what does that mean?" Kai demanded as the two flinches but he didn't mind Miwa's quote about him what he minds is that he was being compared to him.
"Ah this is not good, I'm in charge of him I'm going to go now, Mutsunokami-kun I leave overseeing their training to you!" Shokudaikiri wave as he tries to catch up to Ookurikara.
"This is kind of new to have a sword that will be hard to get along with the others, this will be interesting I need to go aside from being in charge with him too." Tsurumaru grins as he catches up to the two.
"Kai-san is much more approachable though, or maybe it's just because it's been a while?" Midare placed a finger on his chin as he tilted his head looking at Kai.
"It's kind of like Kai version 2.0." Miwa grins as Kai won't have it he decided to just leave them and continue his training.
"Their glares sent chills to my spine though." Mutsunokami grinned as if seeing something interesting.
"Like thunders is going to vibrate to the whole area?" Midare added with a playful smile.
"Either way we are going to have a lot of trouble involving him in the future." Mina said as all of them continued on to what they were doing first on the other hand she has forgotten the other trouble that is worth mentioning regarding him.
~Kitchen~
Aichi decided to drop by the kitchen first to check on the new toudans before heading to the smithing room, he appointed Kasen to the kitchen as he told him that cooking is something he would like to try having a body to use.
Peeking inside as he saw Horikawa, Kasen, Sayo, and Hasebe having fun in what they are doing he smiles at the scene.
But someone caught his attention "Oh, Aichi-sama are you looking out for the new swords?" it was Tsurumaru who called out to him, behind he saw an Ookurikara being pushed by Shokudaikiri.
Upon hearing his name the four toudans inside the kitchen stopped as they did saw Aichi in front of the door.
"Oh Aichi-sama are you going to ask for snacks? But lunch is already on its way" Hasebe moves toward Aichi as he greeted him.
Aichi shook his head "No I am just checking if Kasen is adjusting well."
"Thank you for looking out for me Aichi-sama, I am doing fine by the way and the clothes that you have made for me is quite elegant and comfortable to wear." Kasen stops for a moment as he too greets Aichi.
"So in total, there are three new swords in just two days." Tsurumaru enters the kitchen with an Ookurikara still being pushed by Shokudaikiri as they entered the room.
"Aichi-sama you made a new sword again?" Horikawa closes in on Aichi as he stares intently to his eyes but Aichi averted the eye contact as if hiding something from him.
"Come to think of it, you did plan on making another one." Tsurumaru said remembering their conversation at the hallway as their introduction for the new swords was replaced by conversation about Aichi.
"Aichi-sama isn't that bad for you?" Sayo moves in also as he holds onto his hands with a worried look.
Aichi's other hand is free so he pats Sayo's head "Don't worry just one more is fine." He reassures Sayo.
But Hasebe, Horikawa, Tsurumaru, and Shokudaikiri doesn't believe him one bit as the expression of blankness filled their face with the eyes of disbelief "So he says…" the four simultaneously said.
Aichi blushes thinking that he can't get past them anymore "A-anyways I noticed that you are giving a tour around for Ookurikara."
Not pressing on the topic "Yeah, this will be the final place." Tsurumaru proudly said.
"I don't intend on getting friendly." Ookurikara said with disinterest as he looks away from the crowd in front.
"Or so he says every time like a broken record." Shokudaikiri smiles but his brows were in a frown as he nervously laughs at their situation.
Kasen wasn't pleased at his words "What...? Is that how you reply to someone who is trying to be considerate"
Ookurikara sighs "Nonsense, is this farce finish?" Shokudaikiri let's go of his arm as he was trying to get rid of the clutches.
"How inelegant!" Kasen fumed as he decided to just continue on to what he was doing earlier.
"So he is going to stay in our room right?" Tsurumaru pointed at the leaving toudan as Aichi nodded in affirmation.
"We will be catching up to him, we will be taking our leave Aichi-sama." Shokudaikiri excuses himself as he left to catch onto Ookurikara once again.
"Hopefully he can at least agree to eating together, I really hope though." Tsurumaru raises his brow as he excused himself and also followed the two once again.
"I'll be checking up on Hachisuka next, I'll be taking my leave too." Aichi excuses himself and patted on Sayo's head once more before leaving the room as they continued onto the finishing.
~Field~
"You get your hands on a genuine Kotetsu and this is what you make it do?!" a voice shouts from afar.
Aichi sweats as he heard the shout knowing that voice and the name that was called out he clearly understood who it was, adding to the fact that he was new here he understood this kind of reaction.
"How is he doing?" Aichi ask as he noticed an amused Nikkari watching Hachisuka.
"Fufufufu…" He laughs "Although he say that from time to time, he still kept at doing his work."
"Sh-shouldn't you be doing the same…" Aichi commented as he noticed that Nikkari was just mostly watching than working.
"Ah! Sorry, sorry…" Nikkari chuckles as moves forward and started on his work too.
While looking around he noticed a Mikazuki who is resting his head to a gardening tools with a relaxed face "Mikazuki…" Aichi's sweat just double the amount as he noticed that he isn't doing his work.
Slowly moving forward he noticed a silent and diligently working Taroutachi having eye contact Aichi smiles at him as Taroutachi smiles back as he bowed his head a little to greet him.
Reaching the somewhat dazed self-proclaimed old man "Mikazuki." He calls onto him, with a relaxed face Mikazuki turned to look at the person who called him only to find Aichi.
"I guess it's time to work. Ahahahaha…" He laughs it off as if it was nothing and continued off to work.
Aichi chuckles as eh continued onto where Hachisuka is, and at the instant he saw him "Aichi-sama!" He frantically ran towards him "What a thing to do for a genuine Kotetsu!"
Aichi nervously smiled "B-but everyone has to work…" he started as Hachisuka silently listens as he continued "Besides it can also increase your survivability and your scouting in battle." He smiles to Hachisuka "And it will be kind of unfair if everyone doesn't work."
"But this kind of thing?!" Hachisuka continued to protest.
"But everyone does the same, they all do the same work, from farming, to cleaning, laundry and other chores, they just rotate chores from time to time, it can also be a way of helping each other in different areas." He pointed his finger to the ones doing the laundry.
Hachisuka sighs in defeat as he silently continues on to what he was doing.
Aichi smiles as he decided to visit the ones in laundry duty as they laugh at the expression of Hachisuka with the exception of Yamanbagiri.
"That's not nice you know." Aichi said to the five toudans.
"Aichi-sama!" the three Tantous greeted him as the two Uchigatanas apologized.
"Somehow it has become an amusing sight to see, that whenever there is a new sword and you ask them to do chores, they will always have an amusing reaction." Yasusada chuckles.
"I agree, looking at them, I remember the days when I don't like doing chores." Kiyomitsu brags about.
"But you still don't like them though." Imanotsurugi cuts him off.
"Oi!" Kiyomitsu stops him as Yasusada, Imanotsurugi, Hakata, and Gokotai laughs at him while Yamanbagiri silently continues his chores.
"How about you Yamanbagiri?" Aichi asks the silent Yamanbagiri as he stops when his name was called.
"Chores will help me stop being compared to Yamanbagiri." Is Yamanbagiri's simple and complicated answer.
"No one will compare you, you know." Aichi exhaled as he smiles to Yamanbagiri which he only hid his face his on his hoody and continued to his chores.
While he was about to call out to him again he noticed the tiger cubs were helping out in the littlest things "I see that they are helpful cute little tiger cubs." Such as handing out the laundry tongs to them.
Aichi crouches down as he patted onto the little tiger cubs "Thank you for your hard work."
"As long as they don't get too worked up, I don't want something like the kitchen disaster to happen again." Kiyomitsu shivers at the thought.
"S-sorry about that." Gokotai apologizes for them and as if understanding what Gokotai meant the tiger cubs growled as if apologizing as their tails and ears were down.
"Kitchen disaster?" Hakata got curious at the tale.
"It's a long story." Gokotai plays with his fingers as Aichi chuckles.
"Oh, Aichi-sama you are here." It was Hasebe.
"Oh, could it be lunch is ready?" Yasusada smiles and started to drool thinking of the food.
"Could you please stop that…" Kiyomitsu looks at him with disgust but the latter seems like he doesn't hear anything.
Hasebe nodded in affirmation to his question as Aichi proceeded into shouting to everyone in the field "Everyone it's lunch time!" He waved to the others in the field "Continue on later let, us prepare for lunch first!"
As he noticed the time after eating lunch he will have no time in visiting Yagen as he is the only one he hasn't visited yet though they will see each other in the dining hall but checking up on him is different from meeting up at the dining table, chuckling at his thoughts he waits for everyone to stop and wait for them to go to the dining hall altogether.
~Smithing Room~
After lunch Aichi has no more time to visit Yagen as he hurried to the smithing room for the new sword "I really wanted to visit Yagen but there is no time left, I'm sure he is shutting himself in the infirmary again making his experiments." Aichi chuckled "I know I will be scolded but this will be my last chance as I won't be able to summon new swords the next two months, this is my first time summoning two swords at the same time but I have to at least try."
What the others didn't know especially Mina and Konnosuke Aichi broke his promise into making only two sword today and made a third one, firmly wanting to call out to the other Samonji.
Aichi closes his eyes hoping and praying that the two would hear him.
"I am Izuminokami Kanesada. I'm cool and strong! Recently, I'm a popular sword."
"... I am named Souza Samonji. Do you too, desire the Symbol of Conquerors in your service?"
Aichi smiled in delight raising both his hands in the process "F-finally!" he shouted which surprises the two new swords.
Doesn't know where to start off Aichi started to calm himself down as he explains the two their situation but then somehow even his luck of summoning them both at the same time puzzled him, but nevertheless he was thankful that luck was with him this time.
Hearing out their situation "I see… then being a former possession of the Demon King really does turn one into an object of desire, doesn't it?" he did misunderstood Aichi's action.
"I also don't get it, being called out like this as a sword warrior to protect history it is as if we are blindly following orders." As did Izuminokami.
Somehow now he understand why luck was with him, because on the contrary it was not, they took his action as something that is not good for them, somehow this three swords that he last summon are going to be hard to please. But deep inside him he knows that sooner or later, he would encounter this obstacles.
Aichi inhales "Izuminokami, I don't know if you would accept my answer but we have different reason for this battle you can ask for theirs, as for me at first it was just on a whim from helping a certain pipe fox but in the end I enjoyed my days with everyone this past 4 months, I know I am still new at this but… I want to protect their past, their past that what made them what they are today, the swords that I am with and to the swords that I will be meeting in the future, I want to protect that time, that time that gave me this chance to meet them all." Izuminokami did not even say a word, his answer was just and he understood it but it was still not enough for him "I know it may sound like for my own benefit but I don't want them to ruin this world even if they fight alongside me or not against the world, then so be it!" Izuminokami smiles as he heard what he wanted to hear but then again it would be different case for each of the said swords that is here.
"Souza, I don't know if I can help you be a free bird" Souza's eyes opens wide at hearing it from him "But at least I can help you do your purpose as a sword that is meant to fight rather than for possession, I have no words to say except for you to see it yourself of what use this body will bring you, will it bring you happiness, will just let you feel like you are a caged bird once again, or will it let you fulfill unfulfilled desires, or will it let you wish you were not called out by me. I know you won't believe me from my words alone but allow me to help you reach what you really want as the days that will past comes that is if you allow me two."
The two were speechless of course they won't know for now what answer it will bring them, with his words somehow they want to trust him, at the same time they don't but what they understand is what the flow of time will teach them.
"And for the both of you, the reason I called you is yes to ask for your assistance to save the history but the reason I mainly called out for you is that because there are swords waiting dearly for the two of you." The two stares at him.
But then he smiles at the two "But first let me first take your measurements!" the two new swords blinks their eyes thrice in confusion as they comply and wait for his explanation.
After his brief explanation and taking of their measurements "I'm sure they will be at the kitchen washing the dishes at this time." He said as he asked the two to follow him.
~Kitchen~
He peeks at the kitchen looking for the two certain swords as the two new swords waits for the swords he was talking about, thinking that they made them wait and somehow they too were eager to meet them in their human forms.
As they were busy inside Aichi decided to call them through their bell as to not reveal their name, the two called were surprised as they look at the door and noticed their master peeking as he smiles at them.
As the two of them stares at him with confusion they look at each other as they noticed they were both called, motioning them to come forward they did as they were told. When they made their way to the door he motions the two behind him to show themselves up "Alright introduce yourselves."
Izuminokami proceeded into his quote but he was cut off by Horikawa "Kane-san! It's me Horikawa Kunihiro!" Izuminokami smiles at him.
Sayo stares intently as the pink clothed sword in front of him as Aichi holds onto his shoulders as Souza "Souza Samonji…" plainly introduced himself to the Tantou.
Already understanding who the Tantou in front of him is "O-Sayo." Souza warmly calls out to Sayo as he immediately grabs his large hand.
"Nii-sama!" Souza nodded as Aichi let's go of Sayo's shoulders as he proceeded onto embracing him.
"Oh Aichi-sama, you succeeded?!" Kasen said as he walks forward noticing the crowd.
Aichi smiles in response to his question "I see, congratulations." Kasen smiles as he welcomes the new swords.
"Oi, Aichi-sama, aren't you abusing your body too much, you are still injured." Hasebe scolds him.
"I- I'm fine…" Aichi waved his hands upward in defense.
"Ah! Aichi-sama!" Horikawa runs towards him as did Sayo "We are really happy that you did this for us but…" Horikawa's face turns to a sorrowful expression as did Sayo.
"Please stop pushing yourself for things that can wait." Horikawa pleaded "Please Aichi-sama be considerate of your own!" He bows to him.
Surprising Aichi including the two new swords "W-wait! Didn't I say not to do this things!?" Aichi panics "I… I'm fine I promise if I feel unwell I will tell Yagen in an instant!" Aichi tries to run away "I will leave everything to you!"
"Wait! Aichi-sama!" Horikawa wanted to reach out to him, but instead decided not to "Why is he always like this…" Horikawa and Sayo looks bothered as did Hasebe.
"You like him as your new master?" Izuminokami asked as he moves forward to Horikawa.
"Yes!" Horikawa smiles proudly as Izuminokami was taken aback.
"You too, O-Sayo?" Souza asked the same to Sayo as Sayo answered him with a gleaming smile on his face as he nodded.
"Ah, but what about the room arrangements." Horikawa thought as he looked back to where Aichi dashed off.
"If room arrangements I got them." Shokudaikiri showed up with him a paper on his hands with the new room arrangement.
"Aichi-sama really thought things through huh…" Horikawa studies the new room arrangement "It's sad that I won't be sleeping with Brother but it's not like we can't see other here." Horikawa lightly chuckles.
"I won't be with Hasebe-san too." Sayo looks at the list next.
"It's fine as long as you have your brother." Hasebe pats Sayo head.
"It seems Aichi-sama did not leave anyone alone in a room unlike before…" Horikawa studies the room arrangements.
"Wait, why is there another two?" Shokudaikiri eyes the two new sword as if just noticing them.
"Come to think of it, yesterday he made two swords…" Horikawa started
"…and now he made three swords…" Shokudaikiri added.
"…that makes a total of five swords!" Hasebe alarming the three of them including Sayo.
"It's the first time I heard him making 5 in just an interval of one day." Shokudaikiri felt the cold sweat running through his face.
"Does Mina-nee knows this?" Hasebe asked.
Shokudaikiri shakes his head "I'll go report to Mina-nee in the meantime you give them a tour and tell the others about the room arrangement." Shokudaikiri dashed out of the area to look for Mina.
"Seems like trouble." Izuminokami broke the silence.
"It is…" Horikawa answered.
"Well it was his own choice for summoning us despite knowing it himself." Izuminokami shrugs.
But Horikawa frowns looking at him as he sighs surprising Izuminokami and Souza "Sayo-chan, do you want to join touring with us and then inform the others about the new room arrangements?" Horikawa averted the question.
Sayo nodded to his offer as they start giving a tour to the two new swords praying that nothing bad happens.
Outro: Alright… hoping that I still have the plot I will be able to continue this.
