"So tell me about this Curtis guy." Grissom says as they get ready for bed the next morning.

Sara grimaces "Gil he's a 15 year old in an adults body." Sara turns back the covers "He watches cartoons and he's all like 'dude' and 'bro' and his idea of a joke would make toilet humour blush" she slips in and snuggles into Grissom's chest when he finally gets into bed "He greeted me today by saying Sara you look hot today"

"You did look hot today" Grissom says completely seriously.

"Since when did you refer to anyone as hot… you know what never mind." She shakes her head "He stares at my ass and boobs, not that there's anything to stare at…"

"I'm not complaining." Grissom interrupts.

"Gil." Her tone says she's not for joking.

"Sorry honey." He kisses the top of her head. "Why don't you tell Greg you don't like hanging out with him?"

"He's been Greg's best friend since they were 4, they went to school together, college together and moved to Vegas together. It's fine, I only have to put up him with him sometimes."

"If you're sure." Grissom rolls them over snuggles up behind her and drifts off into a comfortable sleep.

He's awakened a few hours later by frantic cries of "Grissom!" coming from downstairs and he recognises the voice as Sara's and then he also recognises the clear sound of panic and is out of bed and down the stairs.

"Sara honey what?" He finds her in the kitchen crouched over Hank who is pitifully crying with his head in Sara's lap and a pile of what looks like bloody vomit on the floor.

"Gil something's wrong with the dog." She says and he bites back the urge to snap that, that much is obvious. Instead he pulls out his phone and dials the vet, who tells them to bring Hank straight in. Grissom leaves Sara and runs upstairs and puts some pants on with a t-shirt and grabs Sara a pair of pants and the first t-shirt he finds which happens to be a UCLA one of his, he briefly thinks that she's turning into quite the good t-shirt thief.

He puts the clothes on the kitchen island and scoops the boxer up with a massive groan, he wasn't expecting him to be so heavy. "Put some pants on Sara." He tells her as he struggles out to his car and Sara soon joins him but slides into the back seat instead whispering words of comfort to the dog whose pitiful howls just make Grissom drive faster.

They pull up to the vets office and Grissom again lifts the dog out of the car whilst Sara runs up to the receptionist who sends them straight through. Grissom drops the dog down with slightly less care than he probably should've given the look that Sara shoots him.

"Ok folks, what have we got here?" The vet walks in the room and Sara, who is busy looking at the dog freezes when she recognises the voice, refusing to look up she just crouches in front of the dog and starts giving him reassuring pats on the head. "Doctor Grissom, nice to see you again. What's wrong with Hank today?"

"He threw up blood." Grissom's voice definitely sounds calmer than he feels. "This is my wife Sara, Sara honey, let Doctor Marshall take a look at him." He places a reassuring hand on Sara's shoulder and gently pulls her away.

The vet starts gloving up and then turns around surprised "Sara?"

Sara winces and finally looks the vet in the eye "Hi Curtis."

"Curtis?" Grissom looks between Sara and the vet "Greg's Curtis?"

"I prefer Curtis' Greg but whatever." Curtis smiles, he'd celebrate being right later, but right now he has a job to do and he looks over at Hank and begins his examination. "He'll need an x-ray" The veterinary nurse who'd so far gone unnoticed in the corner wheels over the x-ray machine and a few minutes later they're looking at the results. "Looks like he's ingested something sharp with jagged edges. He'll need surgery, we'll get it done ASAP and then you can pick him up in a few days."

"He'll be ok?" Sara asks and goes back over to her dog.

"He'll be fine." Grissom squeezes her shoulder.

"I promise Sara. I'll fix him up good." Curtis told her and offers her a sympathetic smile.

Sara continues to smooth the dogs head as he cries pitifully on the examination table. "Don't worry baby, you'll be ok." She tells him before letting Grissom walk her out of the room, he initially goes to steer her towards the door but she goes and parks herself on one of the waiting room chairs instead.

Curtis is surprised to see them when he walks out of the room "Sara, I know you're worried about Hank but it's going to be a while. I promise I'll let you know as soon as he's out." He offers her a sympathetic smile and finally she nods and stands before she turns back to look at him "I know. Not a word to Greg now are you going to let me fix your dog?" She nods and allows Grissom to take her out of the vets office.

They were sat in the car on the way back to Grissom's house and she finally looks over at him "Curtis is your vet?"

"Apparently" Grissom tells her never taking his eye off the road.

"You didn't think to mention that?"

"I didn't know he knew Greg." Grissom answered honestly "We met at a conference, as well as your standard domestic pets he actually specialises in your more exotic pets"

"Like what?"

He looks over and gives her a shrug "Arthropods mainly"

"You take our dog to your spider's doctor?" She asks incredulously and he has to hide a smile when he realised she called Hank "our dog".

Grissom realises that Sara is looking at him expecting an explanation "Curtis is one of the highest regarded veterinary surgeons in the state, I just happened to already be a client because Stevie wasn't eating." He said defensively and Sara laughed, the mood lightened between them and conversation was a little easier as they drove home.

… … … … … …

Sara woke up later that night full of nerves after a very disturbed sleep. Grissom had been called in early to assist swing shift with something insect related and hadn't called her since he'd left. She'd heard nothing in relation to Hank and Curtis didn't have her number, she was fairly sure he wouldn't be able to get it off Greg. She showered in Grissom's house, thinking it was a little weird to be there without him, it was the first time she'd been in his space without him there. She'd offered to go home but he'd waved her off. Produced a spare key for her and kissed her goodbye.

She made herself a coffee and had a quick PB&J sandwich and then locked up and left, sure she'd be over an hour early but that wasn't unusual for her. She looked around for Hank briefly to say good bye before remembering and drove to the lab trying to think of a way to speak to Curtis without saying "I'm worried about my secret husband's secret dog and need to talk to his secret vet." She laughed at the absurdity, although if Grissom hasn't heard anything from Curtis that's exactly what she planned to do. She walks to Grissom's office and sees him inside talking to Catherine, he raises a hand in greeting and Sara realises she's going to have to wait a little longer for an answer and that little longer turns into over an hour and she's at in the break room next to Sofia waiting for their assignments. Grissom walks in with the stack of papers and then Greg comes in just behind "Sorry" He mumbles as he slides into the seat next to Sara. Grissom just glares and then goes onto the assignments.

"Sofia" He hands her the slip "Suicide in the Rampart" and looks at Greg "String of B&E's at a strip mall. Shouldn't be too complicated but if you need help then call." He hands Greg the slip. "Sara, Nick's out at what looks like a double murder and a suicide, can you go out and help him?" She nods and takes the slip of paper from Grissom. "If anyone needs me I'll be with the bugs from Swings other double murder"

The team stand to go off to their various assignments "Wait Grissom!" Greg calls out "Curtis asked me to pass a message along" Sara stops in her tracks and Grissom looks at him "He said to tell you Hank came through like a champion" Grissom just nods and catches Sara's eye who offers him a quick smile. "Whose Hank? New spider?"

"Dog." Sara says without thinking and both Greg and Grissom turn to look at her.

"Grissom has a dog named after your ex-boyfriend?" He looks confused.

"Hammerin' Hank a baseball player." Sara replies and then realises she needs to cover "I walked him last time Grissom went to a bug conference."

"Oh, that reminds me. Curtis said he found this in our bathroom last time you were over." He hands her the sealed envelope. "I debated steaming it open but he said you'd kill me."

"I would. Thank you." She takes the envelope and puts it in her pocket and then takes her slip from Grissom and walks out the room.

"Since when did you have a dog?" Greg asks "I thought you were the bug guy?" Grissom doesn't answer him and instead shrugs before he just walks out the room.

Sara meanwhile opens the envelope and sees her wedding ring and her heart stops. She realises it must have fallen out of her pocket when she was over and she's glad Curtis found it and not Greg. Then after getting over her shock she just feels guilty. She hadn't even realised it was missing.

… … … … … …

If anything the conversation in the break room had just strengthened Greg's suspicions. He examined the evidence he had so far. 1. Sara did not seem surprised that Curtis knew Grissom, which is odd because he lives with the guy and he didn't know. 2. Sara knows about Grissom's dog, its name and origin of name, of course this is circumstantial, and she explained it away, but she knows Grissom knows Curtis and he never told her Curtis was a vet. He had a feeling that something in the envelope was to do with Grissom, if it wasn't why was Curtis keeping it secret? Curtis seemed pretty confident they were together. More evidence was required however, work was also required and Greg had some scenes to process.

When he arrived Greg realised he was going to need some help with his scenes so as soon as she finished helping Nick she left him to take his evidence back to the lab and Sara pulled up to help him. "Hey Greg." She smiled "What have we got."

"Five stores, all smashed. All grabbed." He tells her with a grin. "It's print-a-palooza!"

Sara smirks back at him "Best get started then" They work side by side for over an hour, laughing and joking as they go but Sara realises Greg seems uncomfortable, like he wants to ask her something. "Spit it out Greg."

"How did you know that Curtis knows Grissom?" He says quickly

"I didn't" She lies in return. It's not really a lie, she didn't know before today.

"Did you know he's a vet?"

"Grissom?" She smirks and Greg just shakes his head.

"Curtis" He tells her in exasperation and she just shakes her head. "What kind of dog does Grissom have?"

"Boxer."

"Are you in a relationship?" He tries

"What?" She wasn't expecting that.

He feels nervous, Sara's a deeply private person and he just outright asked a very personal question "Curtis says you are."

"Asking him to keep his mouth shut was just too much" She shakes her head. "Yes, we're in a relationship."

"You told Curtis?" He sounds hurt "When?"

"I didn't tell Curtis anything." She grumbles. "Hank was sick this morning. We took him to his vet, that vet happened to be Curtis. We were all surprised."

Greg's confused "This morning?"

"Yes? Why?" Now Sara's also confused.

"He told me yesterday you were together. He said he figured it out."

"Oh" She wonders how the hell Curtis figured it out and then notices something on the floor in front of her "Hey Greg, take a look at this."

Finally their attention switches back to work and there it stays until they're in the locker room in the morning. Grissom walks in looks at Sara and smiles and then see's Greg and switches to a more serious expression.

"He knows." Sara just shrugs. "You told your friend…"

"I think technically you Brass." He cocks his eyebrow and Sara mumbles something that sounds suspiciously like "fuck you" and he laughs. Greg can't believe he's seeing this much of their private life. It's honestly a little unnerving. "Are you…?"

"Yeah." She realises he's inviting her over and he nods and walks out the room. Sara closes her locker door and looks at Greg surprised he was still there "Have a good sleep Greg." She goes to walk out the door and stops. "It was my wedding ring by the way. In the envelope you gave me. I dropped my wedding ring on your bathroom floor." He just laughs in response and waves as she walks out the door.
