Chapter 53: Suspicions

~Thursday –Afternoon- at the Garden~

"I think it's about time we wake up Aichi-sama." Hasebe said wiping off his sweat as he stops from trimming the shrubs.

"Come to think of it, at this time usually Mikazuki sips on his tea sitting at the veranda." Kiyomitsu does too as he look around for the said Tachi surprised that he wasn't there yet.

"Maybe he is still preparing it, or chores just took his time." Nikkari thought.

"Well his time does depends but in the end he would just silently sit there and drink." Kiyomitsu continues on to his chores.

Horikawa raises his hands "I'll go and wake him up again."

"Alright then." Hasebe allows him as he continues to what he was doing while Horikawa cleans himself from leaves and branches and places down the equipment he used.

~Aichi's room~

As he went up to the room he noticed that the door is slightly open, he paused for a moment as he decided to come in the normal and right way, he inhaled first "Aichi-sama I'm going to enter." As he finished he opens the door as he saw Mikazuki with a sorrowful expression on his face as he caress Aichi's head.

"Mikazuki-san…?" Horikawa silently studies his expression but his curiosity and worry instantly overwhelms him "Are you also going to wake him up?" He silently waits in suspense for the answer.

"I wish I could…" Mikazuki smiles bitterly.

"Have you tried?" Horikawa asked as he almost loses his cool.

Mikazuki only bitterly smiles as Horikawa runs forward and noticed that nothing was wrong nor was a miss "Aichi-sama!" he called out the first time but no response, he called out again but nothing "Why…?" Horikawa starts to panic.

"Don't worry Horikawa, his body is just trying to recover what he lost." Mikazuki tries to calm him.

"But-" Horikawa still won't take it as a no or even trying anything but Mikazuki stops him before he spoke again.

"His body is recovering this way, isn't sleeping longer than normal better than seeing him suffer whenever his divinity runs out?" Mikazuki pointed out.

Mikazuki continues to caress his hair "This transition is fine than seeing him suffer, which is if nothing wrong happens, so it's better to at least give him time to rest, as long as he needs."

"But isn't that like waiting for his d-" Mikazuki hushes Horikawa as he places his index finger on top of his lips.

"It will be fine just give him time, besides if that happens I won't be able to keep calm just like you." Mikazuki stood up "In the meantime tell the others that Aichi-sama will need a long slumber to recover." He placed a hand on Horikawa's shoulder.

Horikawa did so with a gloomy expression since first of all he can't explain to everyone about this, but what about Mina and Konnosuke they must have known something about Aichi, with a new thought in mind he hurries to find Mina and Konnosuke.

~Training Hall~

Horikawa runs with all his might as he looks around for the person he knows that could help him, Konnosuke who was sleeping near the training hall noticed the certain Wakizashi running towards Mina as soon as he found her "Mina-nee!" he called.

As soon as he caught her attention he whispered something to her ear that shocked her, hearing the news that he relayed she instantly gave a grave look on the sleeping pipe fox "Konnosuke!"

Understanding that it is trouble he hastily ran to Mina's side and jumped to her shoulders and as they were about to prepare to leave "Alright, you can stop for today!" Mina shouts as she nodded to Horikawa, they immediately runs to wherever they will be led by the Wakizashi.

~Saturday -Field-~

"So this marks the second day that he is still sleeping right?" Hachisuka started a conversation as he helps with the laundry.

"Yeah, and it is getting hard to wear and then dry this clothes." Kasen grumbled "It's not that I am …" he stopped midway as he sighs "Hey… is this what always happen when he summons sword?" he changed his words.

Tsurumaru stops for a moment from his question "It doesn't always happen though." Nikkari answers for him, as he knew that it would be hard for him to answer, but Hachisuka and Kasen were fast to understand what that sudden pause means.

"I think it happened only two times." Nikkari tries to remember while Yamanbagiri silently listens to the story.

Tsurumaru has a somewhat grave look "It happened two times." Tsurumaru paused for a moment as Nikkari and Yamanbagiri looks at him "The first one was Mitsubou… The second was when I was summoned." His eyes were frowning.

"So it's the third." Hachisuka said "He summoned Kasen, Me, Ookurikara, Izuminokami and then Souza." A sweat showed up on his face "He… he summoned a total of five swords." Which they could all understand the sudden reason for his slumber.

Somehow Yamanbagiri has a different conclusion "Something worth noting is a coincidence that all Date Masamune swords were summoned. Shokudaikiri Mitsutada, Tsurumaru Kuninaga, and then Ookurikara."

"Come to think of it, Aichi-sama didn't show up any signs of health deterioration when he summoned Mikazuki, they were even able to go into a sortie. And Aichi-sama even went to that tournament the next day." Nikkari sums up the events

"Tournament?" Kasen and Hachisuka both asked.

Nikkari nodded "Yeah, there is this card game that Aichi-sama loves and takes pride in."

Kasen and Hachisuka were surprised "I didn't know that Aichi-sama would have something he fancy." Kasen noted.

"Yeah, with how timid he is you wouldn't have thought about it." Hachisuka added.

"It's a very long story to tell to be honest." Nikkari chuckles.

"This is what he meant by this will be a good story to tell the new summoned toudans." Yamanbagiri recalled.

"A very long story to tell with just little amount of time spent at this place." Nikkari counted the months but then he remembered something worth noting "But we did felt something for a moment that something did happened to Aichi-sama when he summoned Mikazuki."

Yamanbagiri nodded "But Mina-nee and Konnosuke explained why he didn't suffer from summoning him." he added.

Noticing an unmoving Tsurumaru they all paused for a moment on their conversation and reminiscing "Maybe it just surprised Aichi-sama's body from summoning five at once." Yamanbagiri eyes trails at Tsurumaru as there was no response.

Because of this the four of them looks more worried than before as they looked to each other "Sorry…" Yamanbagiri looks away as the sudden apology surprised Tsurumaru "Eh? W-why are you apologizing?" finally Tsurumaru moved.

"It's because of what I said, I'm apologizing for that…" Yamanbagiri said.

"Uh… no… maybe you are right, I'll ask Mina-nee about it." Tsurumaru bitterly smiles at Yamanbagiri, as they continued to do their task silently with that bothering information in mind.

~Garden -Afternoon-~

"Finally we are done with tasks!" Kiyomitsu said as he slumps down on the veranda followed by Yasusada and other toudans where the garden is now their usual past times location.

While Mikazuki on the other hand doesn't have his normal carefree smile, but he isn't frowning, just his normal expression that is on his face which somehow they are not used to but they could understand what lies behind it.

While Kiyomitsu silently stares at Mikazuki, somehow he realize that he might know something and almost everything about Aichi and that part is strange and he wants to know why, but deep inside he is scared to ask and find out the reason. As he silently fans himself and examine him more while other toudans are talking about he noticed a change of expression to his face, an expression of shock.

With it Kiyomitsu stop his fanning as he intently stare at what might Mikazuki continues to do next and he was right to think so, as soon as the expression of shock was replaced by relief Mikazuki immediately stood up from sitting at the veranda and sprints off to somewhere.

Somehow he knew that expression, he knows that and understands that Aichi has woken up, but he needs evidence he need to find out without them knowing but he couldn't, as he know that Mikazuki's perception is quite high and will immediately find out his whereabouts, so in the end finding out the truth about his theory he will need to wait if Aichi has really woken up.

~Aichi's room~

As soon as he made it to his room Mikazuki opens the door to Aichi's room and hurriedly closes it as he run towards his bed. Silently sitting near his bed Mikazuki waits until Aichi opens his big blue eyes that he deems one of his attractive trait for him it holds his innocence.

As Aichi slowly opens his eyes he can somehow see a blue silhouette with yellow streaks on his head, as his eyes adjust he immediately understood who this person next to him is as he always know that this person will always be the first, especially when his hands were now wrapped with this person's warm hands "Mika… zuki…?" He calls out the name of the person next to him.

"Good afternoon Aichi-sama…" Mikazuki greets him as smiles earnestly as he sees Aichi doing fine and not suffering.

Aichi tries to smile softly but his energy was completely sapped, he was hungry, tired, and above all groggy from his sleep, considering that it was indeed long sleep.

"I will call on Yagen and someone who can bring food." Informing Aichi of him leaving for a moment, he slowly stands up to leave before he smiles to him but something was keeping him from going. It was Aichi's hand that is still holding out to him.

"Don't leave…" Aichi begs him to stay.

"But you have a slight fever we need it treated than to wait for someone to come." Mikazuki tries to explain to him but there was no sign of letting him go "I promise I'll come back immediately." Aichi frowns as he complies with Mikazuki's pleads.

Slowly Mikazuki bents down as he reaches for Aichi's forehead sweeping away his hair, planting a soft kiss on Aichi's forehead "I promise I'll come back immediately, so wait patiently for me." Aichi slowly moves his head to a nod action but Mikazuki stops him understanding what he wants to convey as he proceeded to the door he immediately runs and looks for Yagen and someone to bring food.

~Kitchen~

Unfortunately not finding Yagen inside the infirmary has led him to the garden, to their room, and finally an info at the field gave him that Yagen went to the kitchen, when he did get to the kitchen Yagen was thankfully there and is about to leave the area.

"Yagen!" Mikazuki calls out as he catches his breathe from all the running.

"Oh… Mikazuki? Is something the matter?" Yagen asked surprised from the reason why he was sprinting towards the kitchen and was looking for him.

"Aichi-sama woke up!" Mikazuki relayed a good news "But he has a slight fever he needs to be treated." But then a slight bad news also came with it but nonetheless he was awake and that is more important.

"I see… I'll head onto the infirmary for now and catch you up later after that." Yagen informed Mikazuki as he nodded Yagen hastily left the kitchen and heads onto the infirmary to get medicine.

"Now to find someone who can help cook for Aichi-sama's food." When Mikazuki headed for the door Kasen with Sayo and Souza were heading for the kitchen.

"Oh, Mikazuki…" Sayo greets him as did the other two.

"Perfect timing." Mikazuki started as they wait and listen as to why he said those words "Aichi-sama has woken up but he has a slight fever, he needs something he can be able to digest." He relayed the news and the reason.

Kasen and Sayo were thrilled to find out that Aichi has woken up and to show how much Sayo was happy about the news he ran to Mikazuki and asked "Mikazuki-san, is it true… that Aichi-sama woke up?" just to make sure that he didn't hear it wrong.

His normal carefree smile and a nod was all the answer that he needed adding to it a slight pat onto his head "Kasen! Will you let me help cook the food for Aichi-sama?" Sayo asked for a favor.

Kasen smiled to his favor "Sure!" but then he couldn't say the same for Souza as he was kind of disinterested "Are you going to join in too?" he asked.

"If O-Sayo wants to do something then I will support and help him anyway I can to him." From Souza's answer Mikazuki can understand that he wasn't that much fond of Aichi yet, having that background he thought of why he would think of that.

"I see then, I will be looking for Mina-nee or Konnosuke." Mikazuki excuses himself but before he leaves "Have you seen them by any chance?" Mikazuki asks before leaving just to make sure that he wouldn't end up like what happened to Yagen.

Kasen shook his head "Hmmm…" as he thinks for a while of any idea where they might be "Perhaps try in the training hall since it is still afternoon since we haven't seen her." He answered.

Mikazuki thanks as he parted ways to the three.

~Garden~

After he relayed the information to Mina in the training hall which he successfully found her and Konnosuke an onslaught of running toudans towards him overwhelms him as he was on his way to Aichi's room. And because of that he is finding hard to keep his promise to Aichi that he will return immediately after that.

~Aichi's Room~

After Aichi has eaten and drank the medicine it is now evening and Aichi has felt better than before but he wasn't in anyway happy at the fact that Mikazuki hasn't come back after his promise to come back immediately after informing them about him.

"Where is Mikazuki?" He asks Mina and Konnosuke who were looking out for him and decided to stay for a while to monitor his condition.

Konnosuke and Mina looks at each other "That's odd why you are looking for him?" he asks but he couldn't give out at answer.

Mina and Konnosuke intentionally wanted to scold him but he lets him recuperate first before they do but something surprised Mina when Aichi started speaking again "Mina-nee I want to apologize on behalf of Yasusada…"

Mina blinks twice in confusion while Konnosuke just continues to stare at Mina "Er… Where is this coming for suddenly…"

Aichi was surprised himself remembering the surprising things the others did that day "Oh, uhm… so you see on Wednesday, Yasusada told us what happened on your trip…" Aichi couldn't say the word date since it can't even categorized as that.

"Oh… that…" Mina looks away remembering that certain trip as she slightly blushes "So what did he say."

"So when we talked about that, we found out that Yasusada didn't think about the atmosphere of a boy and girl alone, so we have concluded that he was dense and I want to apologize for that." Was Aichi's innocent apology.

Mina and Konnosuke right after he said the word dense had the most disbelief and surprised expression of all time, both in their minds "Aichi… you are the most dense one."

Mina and Konnosuke hasn't recover for a moment "Mina-nee? Konnosuke?" until Aichi called out their names.

As they returned "I-it's okay Aichi-kun, why don't you rest for a while, we will be going down for something else for a moment."

Aichi nodded as the two left the room in hurry. After their successful retreat they headed to the veranda's windows and have a talk.

"It's really nothing to be honest… with Yasusada… but… Aichi-kun…" Mina felt like she wants to pity the other toudans.

"Well he did emphasize it, a boy and a girl, at least he understood that much." Konnosuke said.

"Uhhh…" it was Mikazuki who accidentally heard their conversation as the three of them hurriedly went down to the stairs. As they told Mikazuki what they were talking about.

"Ahahahaha…" Mikazuki laughs and then told them the side of the story as Konnosuke and Mina wore their most disbelief look off all time again as Mikazuki commented "We all had that expression before."

"But I think I kind of get the reason why Aichi didn't react to that." Konnosuke said as he started "He is a boy you know."

"But this boy has this admiration towards Kai-kun." Mina said and then added "More than admiration."

"Could say the same with how he reacts with Kiyomitsu." Konnosuke added.

"Oh, that…" Mina thinks for a while as she remembers something "Come to think of it, that Team Caesar guy, Kenji-kun was eyeing Aichi-kun too." She remembers the beach trip.

"Then, may the best toudans or humans win?" Konnosuke wags his tail.

"Oh so you knew?" Mikazuki blinks his eyes.

"That's kind of obvious especially, You, Shokudaikiri, Yagen, Kiyomitsu, Tsurumaru, and Yamanbagiri." Mina counts all of them "Couldn't say for the new ones but the others they are affectionate but you six are noticeable."

"Aichi may not notice since what he thinks is only a normal master and sword warrior relationship, and wants to keep it that way even with Kiyomitsu as I've noticed." Konnosuke drops his tail.

"Hmmm…" as the three of them are puzzled and pondering about this thing called affection.

But then was stopped by Mikazuki as "By the way you haven't even told us what that bond is yet?" making Konnosuke froze.

~Sunday -Morning-~

"You can go out now?" Yagen said to Aichi as he noticed him silently laying on his bed "Or are you going to continue on to take a rest or decide to continue sewing." But there was no response.

Until "Yagen…" Aichi called out which he responded to "Have you seen Mikazuki?"

The sudden question surprised "Aside from when he was looking for me yesterday, no, I haven't." Yagen said as he noticed Aichi's sudden frowning somehow he thinks that he must have missed something and it's making him curious "Is something the matter?"

Aichi shakes his head "If you see him… can you please tell him to come?"

"I see… I got it, I'll tell him if ever I saw him." Yagen stood up as he bid farewell to Aichi.

~Mina's Room~

"So your bond or connection with Aichi-kun is becoming imprecise." Mina racks her head as she tries her hardest to find out an idea why "I think I have an idea…" Mina said remembering the other power and then by timing someone at the other side of the door.

"Mina-nee it's me." A voice called out.

"Please come in." Mina gave permission to the person outside as the person entered showed up Kai on the other side. Closing the door behind him Mina directed her to take a seat to the opposing side beside Mikazuki.

"Why have you called him?" Mikazuki asked in curiosity.

"It's because I think he has an additional answer." Mina started. "There was nothing wrong to Aichi's divinity to be honest, since Aichi's divine ability has grown I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't feel anything after summoning those five to be honest." She paused for a moment seeing if they follow her "Since I didn't feel that something was amiss from his power, it did deplete quite high, but it wasn't enough to make it turn out like that."

"We did consider about the cost of exchange and it was one of the reason that we think why he turned out like that, and it was that but more than that-" Mina was progressing to the point but was stopped by Kai.

"What cost of exchange?" Kai found it intriguing at the same time he thought it was alarming.

"That…" Mina and Konnosuke looks at each other "It's the cost of usage of Aichi's divinity to summoning swords." Mina answered but omitted the most important part, the other cost of summoning. And it was able to get past Kai as he nodded in response on the other hand it didn't get past Mikazuki.

"Are you contradicting your earlier statement?" Mikazuki pointed out, this is Mikazuki we are talking about he is one of the smartest toudans, albeit the smartest out of them all.

Understanding what he meant "It's because of what we are going to talk about and maybe another factor is the fact that it surprised Aichi's body to summon two rare 3 Uchigatana that is his first time." Konnosuke answered as it was getting hard for Mina to look for a reason to his question, for now Mikazuki accepted the answer since maybe they were not allowed to even learn about it and accepted it.

"Continuing to what I said, it was because the other power resurfaced when it felt a large portion of divine powers depleted for Aichi-kun making it resurface again trying to show itself." Mina paused "The reason I think Aichi slept that long is because aside from replenishing what he lost and also because his body was trying to cope with the fact that the two power is fighting over inside." Mina's expression turned grave as it gave Kai a shock as he had an idea of what it was "So Kai-kun, what power is that."

Kai hesitated to answer at first since he doesn't know if it was really it "If what I think is really it then, that power is called PsyQualia." Kai answered as Mina, Konnosuke, and Mikazuki waits for the continuation "It's a power that can corrupt the user, completely changing the host's personality in the process." As they continued to talk regarding about it, they didn't know that the enemy is slowly moving.

~At a certain Area~

While walking along a certain room round and round, this person seems to be very bored of his day although there are some pile of papers on the desk he pays it no mind as he continued to laze around the room, Ren Suzugamori after a while finally stops as he felt an unfamiliar presence "You have a surprisingly strong divinity." a muffled voice said "Sadly you don't have the talent."

"Who's there?!" Ren ask in a cold tone.

"You are the same case as that child, but I guess he is much more special." The voice vaguely showed himself from the shadows.

In the case of using the word special, Ren raised his brow as he didn't like it one bit "How did you get in?" Ren's tone of voice was sharp, as he first asked information out of the intruder.

"That's not the important one." The voice said.

"You are trespassing at least show yourself or give your name." In hand he has a card on him, silently playing with it he waits for the intruder's response.

"I can give out a right amount of information, before you hear out some proposal in mind and accept though…" the voice slightly chuckles.

"I'm listening." Ren sat the center where the desk with piles of paper lay.

"Do you know a certain Aichi Sendou?" The voice paused before giving out the name.

As he remembers he called him special, although it might not be him but it was someone of an eyesore he threw the card as it was aiming for the person but he was able to dodge it with ease "Nice skill also, so do you want to hear it."

Ren places his foot on top of the desk "Alright, I'm listening." Finally the man in the shadow showed himself up as it showed the masked cloaked man that Aichi and the others fought at Osaka.
