Dear Sirius Black,

I visited James and Lily today. I didn't mention in my last letter but the tomb was fully funded and now they have a marble tombstone that says "the last enemy that shall be destroyed is death." It's so white you can see it perfectly even when it's dark. I'm glad I can at least do something for them.

I got a job. Construction work. Doesn't pay well but it's better than nothing. It's a muggle job because no way I'm getting a job with wizards. Don't think I can handle any discussions of the war. I got them to agree to let me have the day after a full moon off each month, said it was for religious reasons. Guess I'm some pagan who worships the moon now. Eh, better than going to church.

I spoke to Dumbledore asking if he could try to get me a visitation to Akzaban. It's very unlikely but I need to see you. Our last conversation was us talking about surprising James and Lily by coming over uninvited. You seemed so excited, like you didn't know it was happening that night and you wanted to see them one last time. Then we heard that they were dead and you gave me a kiss on the cheek and ran outside. Heard your motorbike fly off. I thought that you might've been going to check on them, I was too shocked by the news to do anything, but maybe that was your way of saying goodbye.

Well I need a real goodbye. Maybe after that I can finally stop writing you letters.

Your favorite pagan,

Remus Lupin
