Chapter 58: What you've chosen

Sadly the enemy is still faster as it successfully deflected the attack from Mikazuki, but he realized something when they clashed swords, he thought that the safest thing to do is to dodge his attacks and prevent their swords meeting as he felt the power of Mikazuki's attack when their swords clash a moment ago.

He knew that with that arm strength his arms would give out before he could even flick it, but he noticed something that the six didn't notice themselves, the reason why Mikazuki was not bleeding too much, it was because Aichi already placed a talisman onto his shoulder and is healing it slowly, at the same time he did it also to him to stop the bleeding.

He noticed this when he saw a paper latching on Mikazuki's shoulder where the wound should be and is enveloped in blue hue and noticed that Aichi is now able to sit normally, but still with difficulty, he muttered "Healing Touken Danshi's using divine powers is different from healing a human." From what he said, it seems he knew something they don't.

The man could only commend Aichi's care for his swords and his quick thinking, he seriously thought that he was just someone who is timid and can't think for himself, he guessed wrong and his approach was wrong, with his experience now, he should have understood that by now, and that he should stop underestimating the enemy.

Since the six toudans are in a frenzy, even if they clashed when he said that, they didn't even hear what he said and just continued on to fighting as they keep trying to scratch him. Somehow with this many frenzied sword and all in awakening form, he is having a hard time matching them, but what is commendable is that he can keep up with the six of them.

Trying different approaches, this time Horikawa tries to slash his feet with him reacting to this he jumps upwards, but lies in wait for him is Tsurumaru above, moving his upper body to fall down he rolls and then stand up, only to be greeted by Mutsunokami's blades from behind, stomping to his side, there lies in waiting Nikkari and Yagen, who slashed in a cross formation, flicking it again comes Mikazuki.

He finally notices what they were doing, they are trying to surprise attack him, and it seems from this long clashing of swords both parties have finally understood both habits and movements, the only thing in his disadvantage is fatigued, with this knowing his next move even though he knows theirs too, he is having a hard time keeping up.

Until finally he noticed that they repeated their first attack to him when they became frenzied this time they somehow changed it a little as Nikkari and Mutsunokami this time did a double attack, as what they did to the enemy Tachi that was piercing Mikazuki's shoulder before, this time Nikkari slashes upwards and then Mutsunokami downwards, grazing him in the process as Mutsunokami also shots another at him.

And same as before the enemy slices it and then Mikazuki follows towards and again the enemy was able to dodge Mikazuki's attack but this time he dodges from using a nearby tree and jumps from it, sadly for him he didn't notice that Yagen and Horikawa predicted his next move, with this Yagen and Horikawa jumps towards the direction he propelled from jumping off the tree, the two quickly raised their swords and attacks the man upfront.

The man successfully deflected, and despite the fact that he noticed that Tsurumaru is already in front of him he can't defend since he was deflecting the attack of the two upfront, when he flicked midair with his sword, Tsurumaru showed up and slashes his chest successfully surprising him since the timing he thought of was different from the outcome he thought of, adding to his misfortunes for him, Mikazuki is already behind him as he successfully strikes him from behind.

Dropping from the ground kneeling his one knee the other supporting as he held his swords for support his body, he finally tasted defeat as he feels the pain of both his injury from the chest and from his back, the two Tachi were the ones who successfully avenged Aichi as they successfully dealt a serious damage to him, and somehow smiling in satisfaction of it, Tsurumaru and Mikazuki smiles at him.

But what they forgot when seeking their revenge, Mikazuki loses his smile in an instant as feeling of fear came to him "Aichi-sama!" it was Aichi's fear, fear of the remaining enemy toudans simultaneously attacking him while he is defenseless, hearing Mikazuki shout, the other five hastily looks at his way as they finally noticed that the enemy was actually luring them far away from Aichi when they noticed how far are they already to him.

The six panics to hurry to Aichi as they hear a faint sinister laugh behind them as all they could only hear right now is their breathing as they saw the remaining enemies slowly raising their swords, Aichi closing his eyes waiting for his demise, as the six hurries for dear life just realizing the enemy is still one step ahead.

"I'm offended!" A voice shouted as they saw something aiming at all the enemies and then hooking them all up in the opposite direction of where Aichi is, but the one that hook the enemies were sharp, as it sliced them in half, before even pulling them completely wiping all the enemies.

The six toudans stopped as they looked around for where it could come out again but instead someone who looks petite and is also wearing a cloak but is colored red showed up with the cloak's hood covering the person's eyes, they changed stance to their battle stance, alarmed if that person is also an enemy, but the person spoke again "I can't believe you left your master like that…"

The six toudans widens their eyes as they finally wakes up from their mistakes "Are you really avenging him for what 'he' did, or is this only for your satisfaction…" the new person in red cloak said as the person walks towards Aichi and seemingly looking at Aichi's direction as if staring at him "I can see it's both though, and with that you forgot your master like that?" The person smiled "I personally have nothing about being crazy, although it's not fun anymore if you forget someone!"

The red cloaked person jumps and with that person's speed the person is already at the place where the enemy cloaked man is but as the person swings the huge scythe that is as big as the person the enemy disappears with the person clicking its tongue in the process.

"He got away…" the person stood quietly as if looking for where it could have run too, but then lowered its head with somehow the six understanding that it has already fled, with that the person finally pulls away the hood showing a raven black hair tied into a half ponytail with the light from a post shining above the person seemingly places its other hand to its waist as the person finally turns around only to reveal who looks to be a girl with red ruby crimson eyes shining despite the darkness.

The five toudans were surprised at the reveal of the person, since they can't see much below they can't even tell if she was really a person, nor even a female because of the light above shadowing down below, too much trap for them to even trusting if the person is really a female, "You probably should take her…" she coughs, her voice seems to be of a female "'Him' back to your place to get his injuries treated."

"We want to th-" Horikawa started to speak but was cut off when she raised her scythe to him.

"I don't need that if you are just going to keep at this and even forgetting your master." She sighs "Pathetic, and you call yourselves Sword Warriors." She laughs "I'm going to give chase, do whatever you want, that guy is my prey!" was her last words as she also disappeared into the night. Since they weren't in their normal minds they forgot about the part that she knows about them, well mostly everything.

As if only waiting for the girl to leave Aichi can't handle anymore as he knows that everything is finally okay and they are safe, Aichi succumbs and loses his consciousness as he dropped on the ground with a thud, hearing this the six toudans runs to his side as they shouted his name continuously and finally their tears wanting to come out.

Mikazuki hurries Aichi to put him into his arms, finally noticing what Aichi was doing before he loses his consciousness they saw that Aichi placed a talisman on his shoulder and so did onto Mikazuki, "Even when we were so caught up on other things…" the six of them having mixed feelings on what happened.

~At a different place~

Konnosuke opted out to continue as he felt the presence of someone else in the area and thought to investigate about it leaving the toudans battling it out and didn't know about the events that is happening.

"I can feel your presence! Show yourself." Konnosuke shouted.

A laughing voice echoed through the area "My my, a talking little blue fox…" It revealed himself to be Ren Suzugamori.

Konnosuke can feel the amount of divine ability he has, but he knew with just a look that he doesn't have a talent, but he immediately knew that his divine ability although on par with Aichi's knew it was corrupted, and the one that corrupted it is maybe that other power he felt from Aichi "PsyQualia?"

Ren laughs at his question "How do you know about it?" he asks slyly smiling at him.

"I can feel the other power from you, it's corrupted even your divine ability." Konnosuke answered "I'm definitely sure that it's not just your divine powers that are corrupted." He meant his personality is twisted, since with that face and even helping the enemy, he clearly knew that he was helping him as he watches the battle from the shadows "Aichi is much better than you…" he muttered.

But it didn't go past Ren as he got annoyed at what he heard from Konnosuke "What could possibly made him much better than me…" Ren's voice trembled in annoyance as he moves closer to Konnosuke, making him step backwards.

"Oh, there is plenty to point out." Konnosuke spoke and smiled as if taunting him while also opening his eyes to add to the factor.

"What could Kai, possibly see in him?!" Ren proceeded into rummaging something in his pockets while still moving closer Konnosuke.

As Konnosuke continues to back away he heard the mentioning of "Kai's?" name, which he didn't even pointed out, he didn't even know that this person is associated with Kai, unless "He was the friend Kai talked about that was corrupted by PsyQualia… Ren Suzugamori" Seeing him first hand filled with corruption Konnosuke fears for what will happen if ever Aichi becomes corrupted, especially when he remembered the story that Kai told them regarding this person that is in front of him.

"Ren Suzugamori…" Konnosuke spoke, this time he looked and stared at him clearly the corruption of being with the History Retrograde added to his corruption, making him more twisted.

Finally showing a talisman in hand when he pulled out his hands Konnosuke was alarmed at the sight of the talisman, that even the white pure paper, becomes a jet black in color just as he held it.

"I'm best at everything!" Ren raised his hands as Konnosuke prepares for the worse as his lips turn to a wry smile he almost activated the talisman, but something caught his attention saving Konnosuke in the process.

Seeing as nothing happened, Konnosuke decided to look at the direction that Ren is staring at and noticed that the masked cloaked man was already almost at their area.

"What?!" Konnosuke runs to the corner to see what was happening only to see a bathed in blood Nikkari and Mutsunokami especially Mikazuki and Aichi, but what made Konnosuke somewhat displeased is that they were all attacking the enemy in all direction as he noticed that the remaining enemies are slowly walking towards Aichi.

Konnosuke felt very displeased at the sight "They neglected Aichi?!" Konnosuke growled in anger.

Ren laughs seeing the current situation as he pulled out a set of talismans from his pockets "See! No one likes that kind of person, they even forgot about him as they continue on to fighting that guy." He mocked which is true and Konnosuke can't believe that he is somehow agreeing on the last part.

Noticing how Ren can use the ability to use talisman which those with divine ability can use and become a guardian only if there is no talent to bring out the Tsukumogami and give them forms "Were you taught by him?" Konnosuke can't help but be curious.

Humoring him, he decided to answer his question "A little…" Ren said as he played with the jet black talismans.

"I understand why now…" And as Konnosuke's supposed hunch was answered he noticed the talismans Ren is playing suddenly burned out, surprising Ren and Konnosuke at that same time he felt something within the area, but then he saw the enemies who were about to strike Aichi were swiped from behind and then slicing them in half as he felt a faint presence in the area where the object that sliced the enemy came from.

At the instance of seeing the person walked towards where Aichi is, he instantly knew who the person was, the red cloak was a dead ringer he thought himself, as shock as he was he didn't notice that Ren was already preparing something from behind.

Seeing the person lungs at the enemy was the time that Ren finishes whatever he was preparing and both instantly disappearing before the person could even land a hit, noticing that the person is looking around for the presence the person noticed him, understanding this he hung his head down as Konnosuke shakes his head as if saying there is nothing anymore to do, as he notice the person sigh.

Then he watches as the person started to scold the six toudans, hearing the persons words 'Pathetic.' Konnosuke instantly agrees on what the person said, then seeing the person reveal itself, he instantly knew who the person is "I knew it!", although he can't help but somehow "Pfftt…" at how Aichi is once again mistaken as a girl, so even she was trapped by Aichi's appearance he thought.

When the six toudans thought she disappeared, the truth was she only dashed towards where Konnosuke were "You really have a pretty color… did he already named you Aoisuke?" she crouches down while tilting her head as she pets Konnosuke.

"Why is it that you always name us by color…" He sighs as he hung his head down, and with his words, he meant all saniwa.

"Well Mine is Kuronosuke? Hers is Momoka…" She continues petting Konnosuke as the despair of the fate of naming the Konnosuke's are by color "Well there are some previous and some in present who calls them in different name…"

"A few and unique one's though…" Konnosuke puffs.

She chuckled "We are the few and unique one's!" She hastily stood up "Oofff, suddenly standing makes you dizzy…" she stumbles a little "Alright I'll go find the enemy if I can" she then prepares to leave.

But before she completely leaves "Please don't tell her I was here! She will kill me…" and then she completely left the area.

"It's not like anything you do won't make her scold you." Konnosuke sweats at the thought as she leaps and left the area. "Now what to do with them…" Konnosuke ran towards the six as he somehow thanks that they are the calmest bunch ironically now though.

~Citadel~

As the others wait at the entrance of the citadel to prepare for them coming back, finally feeling the presence of Aichi on the other side they hurried to open the gate as they are welcomed with blood stained clothes toudans and a bathed in the colored red Tachi holding out his shoulder and their master in the arms of Tsurumaru also stained in the color red.

Seeing this sight in front of them Mina's knees almost gives out at the sight of Aichi "Mina, relax, we need you now." Konnosuke tries to calm her before she falls.

Realizing that he is indeed right "Hurry you six to the infirmary!" She can't lose her calm now she thought, since if she loses her cool, seeing everyone's frozen faces, she could already tell the despair from them and with that she has to be strong for them.

Seeing the ghostly pale expression from the six Mina ran with them to the infirmary in hurry leaving all the other toudans on the entrance. As they proceeded onto the infirmary Konnosuke stood still at the entrance awaiting the ones left for their reactions or their question, with their expression Konnosuke could already tell that they can't fathom what just happen, looking at Ookurikara he can make out that he doesn't care one bit, on the other hand Souza and Izuminokami looks to be worried along with Kasen and Hachisuka.

Somehow he wonders what to do with him, how they can possibly soften him, well he though the only thing to do is be surprised at the time when Aichi will be able to make him soft.

Since Konnosuke has a bell with him and is also a universal bell he used it also to communicate with the other six "I know all of you are confused, surprised, angry, and other more… but at least you have to learn to control yourself when things like this happen, this is a battlefield you know that right, sooner or later something will happen to him right? It's just so happens that it happened this time." Seeing as there is still no reaction from them, Konnosuke decided to continue.

"You guys need to prepare yourself, that all of you know pain is, and that you all want to as much as possible make him not experience the pain but did you know that when I spoke to Aichi did you know what he said?"

~Aichi's Room~ /Flashback/ =Konnosuke P.O.V=

When Aichi is still healing from his wound on his chest I visit him often in his room, sometimes I always see him looking into the distance, finishing his homework, or sometimes reading materials about the swords, but it struck me worry when I saw Aichi holding out the injury he got from the latest battle so I hurried to him "Aichi why are you holding out to your chest? Does it hurt?"

I asked him, which he only shook his head lightly as he smiled and surprised me with his answer "Well, I won't lie at the fact that it doesn't hurt but I am also holding it out like this to make myself realize that this is all real." I notice his lips were smiling but his eyes weren't as I asked him once again about what he meant by his words.

"Well, first it's to make me wake up that this is a battlefield, to be honest I am still scared, my trauma… hasn't subsided yet, but someone is helping me try to forget it little by little, although as much as possible I don't want to get injured, but this is a battlefield and it is real, I have to be prepared for this sooner or later that when that time comes I will get injured not just a mild, nor a medium, but severe injury which can lead to my near death or my death…" Aichi flinched at his own words when he said that, every time he is trying to prepare himself but it's not like it's not impossible to get away from that thought.

Somehow though while I listen to him, for someone so young to experience this in this era and in secret from his real family and only his friends know, I too as much as possible want to protect him and do not experience too much hardship that is until he is at the right age, but he got dragged into this too early.

Then He continued on "With the days passing by slowly I am getting accustomed to the peaceful days that there is no enemy encounters forgetting the current situation but with this recent battle, I know that everyone will be devastated if they ever see me get injured, I mean look at their reaction just to this!" though with what he said I kind of agree though, I was laughing with him that time.

"Though I am the same for them I would really be troubled if the same thing happen to them" and with that he just contradicted his earlier statement "But… somehow with how weak I am they instantly worry at the smallest unfortunate thing that will happen to me" he bitterly smiles when he told me that but it's true though right?

"I'm sure if I get a medium injury they will panic, I already know that with my power I can heal them and I know that how my body with Mina-nee's help and Yagen to help heal me, I already realize that a human body is different from them, so I will heal at a different interval to them, they are part divine and part human…" I personally didn't think that Aichi would find out "So I have to keep calm whenever they get injured, and so I understand that getting injured means preparing them for the worst and also preparing myself for the worst, this is what I chose after all." He just smiled and looked in the distance as if contented.

/End/ =Normal P.O.V=

Konnosuke successfully finished his story in silence as the toudans listen to him carefully "When he finished his words I could feel that he was really scared and at the same time confused, but I guess he is really growing, I mean because of that kind of thinking I'm sure he wouldn't be able to think and calm himself when he and Mikazuki is already badly injured." He commends Aichi.

"Aichi was quick enough to place a talisman to stop the bleeding and slowly heal Mikazuki while Aichi stops his shoulder from bleeding at least, since if he can't stop it he would have died from blood lost instead." Konnosuke then starts to walk away.

"I personally don't care if you all would like to care but at least I want all of you to understand why I told you this…" Konnosuke slowly walks to the direction of the infirmary.

"It's because although he was scared he was prepared for the worst that will happen to us or to him, but he didn't say that he would accept it just like that, he will always find a way!" It was Kiyomitsu who answered for all of them while Konnosuke continues to walk he smiles for them as the others agree to him.
