Sara groaned and gripped her jaw. "Honey?" Grissom looked over at her.
"My tooth still hurts." She groans again and Hank whines from the bottom of the bed and stands and walks over before flopping on Sara's legs and looking at her with big sad eyes. "I'm ok." She reassures both dog and husband. "I'll call the dentist." She says, the defeat evident in her voice.
"Take the night off honey." Grissom says as he swings his legs out of bed. "I'm going to get the coffee started."
"Gil, I'll be fine…" She groans as she gets up.
"Take the night off Sara." He says firmly. "I'm sure your boss will understand" He winks at her and she just rolls her eyes as he walks out of the room. She gets out of bed and throws on a pair of sweats and an old Harvard sweatshirt and shuffles downstairs.
"Hey sleepy head. Nice to see you're ready to greet the day." Greg laughs as she walks into the kitchen and Grissom presses a coffee into her hand which she sips and hisses as the hot liquid touches her tooth. "Are you ok?"
"Just a tooth ache. I'll be fine." She leaves her un-drunk coffee on the counter and goes to the living room and switches on the TV. Grissom just shrugs at Greg.
Later, when Greg comes home from work he finds Sara sat on the couch drinking a glass of tepid water. "Hey, how was your shift?"
Greg sits on the couch next to her and wraps an arm around her shoulders. "How's your tooth?"
"Hopefully a non-issue in about 2 hours time. Where's Grissom?"
"Looks like he might be pulling a double. Had an early roll out with Warrick, missed the day shift by about 20 minutes."
"Bummer." Greg just nods in agreement. "Hey Sar'?"
"Yeah?"
"You're kind of on my bed."
"Sorry Greg." She stands. "Have a good sleep."
… … … … … …
Grissom stifles a yawn as he and Warrick stare at the surveillance camera footage of a parking garage. "Griss?" Warrick calls and nudges his supervisor.
"Hmmm?"
"Your cell phone." Warrick tells him, it'd rang twice not that Grissom had noticed.
"Grissom." He says as he picks it up hoping it's nothing to do with the case, as soon as they review this footage he and Warrick were going to head back to the lab and finally head home, it was some time after midday last time Grissom checked.
"Dr Gil Grissom?" The woman's voice asked as he picked up the phone.
"Yes, who is this?"
"My name is Tasha. I'm the receptionist at LV Dental"
"Is everything ok?" He walks out of the room.
"Yes sir. We have you down as the emergency contact for a Miss Sara Sidle."
"That's my wife. Is she ok?"
"She came in and they've had to do an emergency root canal, she had a poor reaction to the local anaesthesia and the doctor had to put her under to do the procedure. We just need someone to come and pick her up."
"Hold on." Grissom stuck his head in the room "Rick are we done here?"
"Yeah, lets get out of here. I can almost feel my bed." He pushes back.
"We'll be right there."
"Great, we'll see you soon." The woman hangs up the call.
"Grissom, man, what now?" Warrick sounds both exasperated and exhausted.
"Sara had a dentist appointment. They had to give her anaesthetic, and she needs a ride. We'll pick Sara up, I'll drop you at the lab and take her home." Warrick just nods, everyone knows better
… … … … … …
Sara is sat in the chair at the dentists office wiggling her feet and staring at them when the doctor comes in followed by Grissom. She looks up at them with tears in her eyes. "What's wrong honey?" Grissom asks concerned.
"My ankles are attached to my leg." She cries and wiggles her feet again.
Grissom just looks over at the dentist. "Disinhibition. It's a common side effect of anaesthesia, an outside stimuli, in this case a benzodiazepine based medicine that's part of the anaesthetic, causes a temporary loss of inhibitions and some, uh, confusion." Grissom just nods at the answer.
"Gil!" Sara interrupts. "Why are my ankles attached to my leg?"
"They always have been sweetheart." She frowns and looks like she's about to answer him back when he cuts her off. "Lets go home and I promise I'll fix it." Sara just nods, the tears running down her face.
"She should be ok in a couple of hours." The dentist reassures him and Grissom leads her from the office and out to his Denali.
Warrick jumps out of the car and opens the passenger door. "Hey Sara, how you feeling."
"Are you here to help?" She asks sadly.
"Yeah girl. I'm here to help." Warrick reassures her.
"With my car?"
"What's wrong with your car?" Warrick tries to hide his smile. It's not fair to laugh at a friend when they're suffering like this.
"It turned into a space ship and I don't know how to fly it." Her bottom lip wobbles "I'm not an astronaut." The wobble then turns into full blown tears "I just wanted to go to Target!"
"Oh Sara, sweetheart. Get in, I'll fix your car and I'm sure Griss will take you to target."
"He'll take me to target. He's a good husband."
"I'm sure he is." Warrick just shakes his heard and offers her a hug before helping her into the car. "Sara? I need your keys." Sara roots in her purse and hands Warrick her car keys. He turns to look at Grissom. "I'll take her car to the lab, she can pick it up from there."
"Thanks Warrick." Grissom takes a moment to observe Warrick, he seems to believe that Sara's comments were the result of whatever drug she'd been given.
Grissom manages to get Sara home and tries to get her up the stairs to their bedroom but she loudly announces she wants chocolate jello and storms off to the kitchen instead.
"What's chocolate jello?" Greg appears in the hallway.
"Sara was given an anaesthetic at the dentists office." Grissom shrugs.
"And now she's trying to find chocolate jello." Greg laughs "Sounds like someone who shouldn't be in the kitchen unattended."
Sara then comes out "Oh Greg. Good. You're still here. I had an idea." Both Grissom and Greg look terrified. "I had a thought about the movie you guys like."
"Which movie honey?" Grissom asks.
"The one with the little people and the magic ring" Sara said like it should be obvious.
"Go on…" Greg prompts trying not to laugh.
"Moths." Sara says like it's the most obvious thing in the world. "The man with the big beard talks to moths…" Grissom looks over at Greg who just shrugs. "He should have had the moth carry the ring."
"A moth?" Grissom asks
"They have sticky little legs." She wiggles her pointer fingers to simulate legs.
"It's too heavy. Moths needs to beat their wings 45 times a second…"
"Grissom." Greg just shakes his head. "She's high. I don't think she needs an entomology lecture right now." He walks over to Sara. "I'll sort out the chocolate jello, why don't you go up and take a nap."
"A nap. Sure." She's halfway up the stairs when she turns back "Then jello."
… … … … … …
Two days later Sara walks into the break room and Warrick just grins and slides a wrapped gift across the table to her. "What's this?" Sara takes it and unwarps it before holding up the children's book "How to become an astronaut?"
"Well you seemed pretty concerned about not being an astronaut outside the dentists office" He laughs and Sara just cocks an eyebrow in silent challenge. "Oh hey! Look! It's the husband with assignments"
"The what?" Sara asks loudly panicked.
"Outside the dentists office you loudly told the whole parking lot that Grissom was a good husband because he might take you to target." Warrick just laughs and Grissom just shrugs as Sara feels her heart rate return to normal as she realises Warrick doesn't know. "Man, it's the funniest thing I have ever seen." As Warrick's laugh is joined by Nick, Greg just smirks and sends Sara a knowing look.
