Chapter 65: The true strength of a National Champion
"Let's see, to start the game how about we draw a card on top of the deck then whoever has the highest grade that we drew out will be the one going first?" Ren suggested.
Aichi nodded placing a hand on top of their deck Ren counts to 3 and then they draw out a card with Aichi getting a grade 2 while Ren got a grade 0.
"I will go first." Aichi said as he started re shuffling his cards.
"I will be going second then…" Ren smirked at Aichi as he too started shuffling his cards.
On top of the vanguard circle there is already a card placed in each vanguard circle as they begin their double fight.
"Stand Up!" Ren/Aichi.
"The" Ren said making the others turn to look at Kai who uses the same word when starting up the game even Yagen since he has watched him playing with Miwa at the citadel.
"Vanguard!" Ren/Aichi
"Barcgal" – Aichi
"Fullbau" – Ren
Noticing an enemy Tantou going towards their fight "May luck be with you Aichi-sama!" with his mobility Yagen successfully deflected an attack that was heading straight to Aichi with Kasen dealing the final blow Yagen continues to find a pattern on the moving portal.
"Th-thanks…" Aichi thanks as he continued on, he drew one card from his deck "Ride, Little Sage, Marron." Placing him in the vanguard circle Aichi moves Barcgal to the bottom left rear guard circle then rests the card to activate its skill "Activate Skill" Aichi searched for Flogal in his deck "Call" and placed it at the bottom middle rear guard and then re-shuffled his deck "Turn end"
None - Marron - None Soul – 0 CB – 0 Damage – 0 Hand – 5
Barcgal - Flogal - None
"Stand and Draw" Ren drew two cards from his deck "Ride, Blaster Javelin, Activate Skill" then activated the skill of Fullbau to search for Blaster Dark in his deck and puts it on his hand then shuffles his deck. Next he calls "Black Sage, Charon" then placed it at the top left rear guard then "Call, Doranbau" to his middle bottom rear guard.
He rests Charon "Attack" attacking Marron making Aichi receive a damage the next he rests Blaster Javelin and Doranbau then attacks Marron "Drive Check" he checks the tops of his deck and showed "Critical Trigger" placing both trigger and additional power to Javelin.
"A Critical Trigger right at the start…" Miwa is surprised at the luck he is getting by drawing a critical trigger at the start but he knows this is only just the beginning so they should continue on and watch.
"Turn End" Ren declares with a light chuckle.
Charon - Javelin - None Soul – 1 CB – 0 Damage – 0 Hand – 5
None - Doranbau - None
Soul – 0 CB – 3 Damage – 3 Hand – 5 "Stand and Draw" Aichi
After standing his cards Aichi drew one card "Ride, Knight of Silence Gallatin!" placing it in his Vanguard Circle then "Call" he places a High Dog Breeder, Akane on his top left rear guard.
He rests Akane and attacks Blaster Javelin, next he rests Gallatin and Flogal to attack but still Ren says "No Guard" making Aichi "Turn End"
Akane - Gallatin - None Soul – 1 CB – 3 Damage – 3 Hand – 4
Barcgal - Flogal - None
Soul – 1 CB – 2 Damage – 2 Hand – 5 "Stand and Draw" Ren
After standing his cards he drew a card, smirking towards Aichi making him move backwards a little "Appear from the everlasting darkness, Dark Spirits! I ride... Blaster Dark"
"A black Blaster Blade…" Aichi's eye's widen in astonishment so did the others.
"It's black?!" Izaki spoke in astonishment.
"Now that is called surprise, if Tsurumaru-san is here he would have said that huh Yagen." He noticed Yagen's look of surprise when Ren called out Blaster Dark.
"Yeah…" But for Yagen it felt a foreboding than a surprise.
After that Ren moves Charon below then calls Skull Witch Nemain activating her skill he discards one card from his hand and draws two, he then calls Demon World Castle, DonnerSchlag to the right rear guard circle then calls a Blaster Javelin to the remaining rear guard circle.
Activating his skill he discards one card and checks the deck for a Phantom Blaster Dragon revealing it to Aichi then shuffling his deck and puts it back. He started his battle phase by resting DonnerSchlag and attacking Aichi, taking damage he then rested Blaster Dark and Doranbau drawing a card from the top of the deck for a drive check it showed Abyss Freezer "Draw Trigger" adding a card to his hand using its trigger effects he adds the other 5000 to Nemain. Lastly he then attacks with Nemain and Charon with Aichi using Akane as an intercept ending his turn.
Nemain - Blaster Dark - DonnerSchlag Soul – 2 CB – 2 Damage – 2 Hand – 4
Charon - Doranbau - Blaster Javelin
Soul – 1 CB – 5 Damage – 5 Hand – 4 "Stand and Draw" Aichi
"Enter the fray, ruler of all knights! I ride King of Knights, Alfred!" activating his skill he uses his counter blasts turning three cards on the damage zones he then starts looking for a grade 2 of his choice in his deck "Stand up my avatar! Call, Blaster Blade" he calls forth Blaster Blade placing it to his rear guard.
"There is it Aichi's Blaster Blade!" Misaki cheered on too with the others.
After that he also activats his skill using the remaining two counter blasts he retires DonnerSchlag. Adding a top rear guard he calls "Knight of Truth, Gordon" then calls forth "Pongal" to the remaining rear guard circle.
Proceeding to the battle phase he then rested Blaster Blade and Barcgal and attacks, next he attacks using Gordon and Pongal resting them still with Ren not using any guards, lastly he uses Alfred to attack with an additional 10000 from the 2000 in each rear guard units from his skill he attacks Blaster Dark checking his twin drive he successfully draws a stand trigger giving both power and trigger to Blaster Blade next drive check "Get, Heal Trigger!"
"A double trigger!" Miwa comments feeling as if a thorn was taken out.
"We destroyed two talismans on the portal!" Yagen reported to Aichi with this they can now finally focus on the remaining enemies that were spawned with the portal destroyed though the last ones that were spawned were Tachi's and Uchigatana's.
Aichi nodded to Yagen as he continues on and heals one damage while he gives out the additional power to Blaster Blade once again but Ren receives the attack Miwa, Kai, Misaki and Aichi has now felt a foreboding as he continues to receive the attacks same as he did.
Next another chance for Aichi to attack but Ren discarded one card making him able to use a sentinel card giving him a perfect guard nulling the attack with this Aichi ends his turn.
Blaster Blade - Alfred - Gordon Soul – 2 CB – 0 Damage – 4 Hand – 2
Barcgal - Flogal - Pongal
Soul – 2 CB – 5 Damage – 5 Hand – 2 "Final Turn." Ren declares.
"F-final turn?!" Morikawa clutches his head.
"Did he just say Final Turn?!" Miwa said as the others have once again has seen another Déjà vu looking at Kai.
"Stand and Draw" Ren laughed hysterically "I knew I was right… that you haven't changed much, that you are really weak!"
"Ngh!" Kasen winces in pain.
Hearing Kasen Aichi noticed that he attained an injury on his shoulder "Kasen!" Aichi shouted while noticing the bell on both Souza and Kasen's wrists were already on the yellow.
"Don't look away now, keep your focus here as I show you how powerless you are!" Ren's PsyQualia activated unbeknownst to Aichi his has also activated semi teleporting them to the land of Cray in Ren's image. "This is where you will understand our difference, that I am much more superior to you!" After the short image they were back to the Card Capital.
"Cursed black dragon, pain will flow through this battlefield! I ride Phantom Blaster Dragon!" He rides then calls out another Skull Witch Nemain as his rear guard then uses her skill once again adding cards to his hand then activated Phantom Blaster Dragons skill, he uses two counterblasts making him retire the two Nemain and Doranbou giving him 10000 additional power and additional critical. Next he calls out a "Dark Mage, Badhabh Caar" to his left rear guard activating his skill he draws a card from the deck and calling it to the rear guard revealing it to be Blaster Dark. Lastly from his hands he calls out Charon to the bottom center rear guard finishing his Main Phase.
"Discarding allies…" Aichi stuttered a little.
"So this is the power of a National Champion." Misaki clenches her hands.
"So this is the level of a National Champion, Aichi…" Miwa prays for a miracle as did the others.
He first attacks with Blaster Dark and Blaster Javelin as Aichi receives the attack making him to five damage, next he uses Badhabh Caar and Charon to attack which now Aichi uses Gordon to intercept the attack with its skill it adds additional 5000 as shield making a total shield of 20000 nulling the attack. Next is Phantom Blaster Dragons turn to attack with 20000 power and with Charon's boost adding it to 28000 with a critical, but Aichi uses Blaster Blade as an intercept and calls out Bringer of Good Luck, Epona and Pongal to the Guardian circle for defense totaling of 34000.
"Yosh! Aichi made sure to put another defense if ever he draws a trigger!" Morikawa praised.
"But he still has his twin drive for checks, with how things are going…" Shin was cut off.
"Shin-san!" Misaki called out his name for Shin not to continue his sentence.
"Right, we should trust in Aichi-kun." Shin nodded as he continues to watch the fight while also getting occupied at the other battle.
"Something doesn't feel right…" Misaki muttered holding onto her necklace with Kai also feeling the same.
Ren's PsyQualia activates once again as Aichi felt a sensation from it "Twin Drive Check, First check" showing Abyss Healer card with a Heal Trigger he gives the power to Phantom Blaster Dragon then heals a damage from his damage zone.
"A trigger already…" Miwa and the others turned pale while wanting to look away from the fight but they know that they should continue and watch it unfold praying that the next check won't be a trigger.
But then Sayo came flying heading towards the others from the back, Aichi then hurries his talismans to lessen the impact from Sayo and save both him and the others from the colliding "Sayo!"
"Thank you Aichi-sama…" Sayo struggled to stand up a little.
But upon hearing "Second Check" of Ren he becomes pale as it showed a Grim Reaper Card with a "Critical Trigger." Adding power and another critical, totaling to a whopping 3 critical and 38000 Aichi's defense was broken through.
Too stunned to perform for a drive check "What now afraid to accept defeat?" Ren shrugs mocking Aichi waking him up checking his damage check showing up a Soul Save Dragon as Ren started to clean out his deck.
Misaki, Miwa, and Kai finally realizes something upon noticing Soul Saver Dragon.
Placing the last damage to his damage zone "Aichi-sama…" Yagen and Sayo mutters.
"I'll have my revenge!" Sayo lungs out to Ren.
"Sayo stop!" Aichi tried stopping him.
But then a sound of glass shattering wakes them all up surprising them "Sorry for the intrusion, fufufufu…" Nikkari chuckles as they noticed the front door sliced to bits.
"Reinforcements have arrived!" Midare jumps from the door then tackles Sayo before he is able to attack Ren.
Somehow with the blade almost reaching him, Ren froze for a moment.
"Here I come from above you!" Imanotsurugi attacks an enemy.
Noticing a chance to attack "You're wide open." Souza defeats the enemy.
Ren noticing a disadvantage from the reinforcements he runs towards the talismans he dropped forming a barrier onto himself he instantly runs outside surprised to see Kamui as he flees away with the help of the talisman.
"Come back here!" Sayo shouts waking up Aichi as he runs towards Midare and Sayo trying to calm Sayo down from his anger.
"Aichi-sama." Nikkari runs towards Aichi crouching down "We were told by Mina-nee to come here for reinforcement from the call off one of your distressed guardian." Nikkari motions outside as they noticed Kamui's silhouette.
"Kamui?!" "Kamui-kun?!" Misaki/Miwa/Aichi.
"Do not worry Aichi-sama we are here to save you!" Nikkari stands up flicking his sword with Kasen preparing himself the two successfully did a double attack "Double Attack!"
"Aichi-sama I'm heading off too!" Midare stands up as Aichi nodded "You will pay for tarnishing Aichi-sama's third home!" Midare sliced up an enemy with a follow up attack from Imanotsurugi. two Tantou, one Wakizashi and two Tachi enemy left.
"I'm alright Aichi-sama…" Sayo stands up as he gathers up his anger landing a critical hit to the enemy Tachi.
"Hooo…" Nikkari said "I guess it's time to end this." Midare, Imanotsurugi and Nikkari faced off each on the enemy with Kasen, Souza, Yagen and Sayo on guard.
"You want to wreak havoc? Well I do too but not in this places!" Midare winks as he readies in his fighting stance.
"I will win, beating you guys and regret ever coming here!" Imanotsurugi jumps in his place.
"Anyone who makes Aichi-sama sad…" Nikkari smiles sinisterly at the enemy.
"Will have to go through us." The seven said in unison making Aichi blush from the delight he is feeling hearing their words especially that Kasen and most importantly Souza has accepted him replacing for a moment the sadness that he felt from his earlier fight with Ren.
"Whew, it became much faster when you guys came, you saved us." Yagen, Sayo, Souza, and Kasen puts away their swords.
Aichi then also deactivates the talismans that is shielding the others as Nikkari, Midare and Imanotsurugi puts away theirs.
"It felt like what happened were just a dream…" Shin muttered as Izaki nodded in agreement to his statement.
"This is the first time I get to see you guys in battle." Misaki comes forwards.
"I feel like I want to see more of Aichi's battle as a Saniwa though!" Miwa too come forward with Kai following him.
"You should see Aichi-sama in battle he is very amazing." Nikkari nodded seeing first hand in the battle at the park.
"It was very hard to move in this place." Kasen mentioned.
Remembering his injury "Kasen come here." Aichi motions Kasen as he starts repairing him.
"How troubling for you to worry at such a small injury." Nevertheless he still followed his orders and lets himself be repaired.
"I have noticed that even the Tachi enemies are having problem moving around such a small area, it seems indoor battle will be disadvantageous for the other type of sword aside from Wakizashi and Tantou." Aichi theorize while healing Kasen.
Noticing that the clashing sounds has stopped "Is it safe to come in now?" Kamui took a peek and noticed that there is no more battle.
"Fufufufufu… As expected of Aichi-sama." Nikkari chuckles noticing that Kamui also came towards them.
"It's Aichi-sama of course he would understand and notice it!" Imanotsurugi jumps forward hugging Aichi from behind making him loose his balance with Kasen helping him as support.
"Unfair!" Midare too jumps forward hugging Aichi thankfully Kasen is now supporting him, noticing this Sayo came forward as Aichi pats his head before continuing back to tending to Kasen.
"Actually Mina-nee got a call from Kamui!" Midare pointed his fingers to Kamui "He noticed something creepy and got scared, noticing that Aichi-sama with Yagen and the others are inside he immediately knew who to call."
"So what if I'm scared! I bet you are scared too!" Kamui blushed making Miwa, Misaki, and Aichi laugh with the others joining in aside from the three far back.
"Though I wouldn't lie about the part about being scared, it is my first time seeing bloodshed." Miwa looks at Kasen "Is this your role as a Saniwa, Aichi?" the atmosphere becomes serious, as Shin, Izaki, and Morikawa comes forward.
"And about the injury Ren mentioned." Kai spoke out killing the atmosphere more Aichi looks away for a moment.
After successfully healing the injury from Kasen as it was only a small scratch on his shoulder Kasen stands and moves his arms somehow fascinated at how he is healed that fast. Aichi places a hand at the said injury and nodded "I also attain injuries like them but it doesn't heal the same with them so it's mine is still healing and I am still recovering".
"And I am making sure it heals as if he didn't had it from the start." Yagen mentioned "Although it won't lose the fact that it still happened." He sighs after.
"I will be fine…" Aichi places a hand on the back of his head and smiled nervously at him with the toudans not feeling happy about it one bit making him slumps down in defeat from the peering eyes.
"I bet Ren doesn't know about that fact." Kai mentioned.
"How could you say?" Miwa is the one to ask.
But Aichi understood it "I see, so he is being used huh."
"Eh?" Miwa and Misaki were surprised at their conclusion.
But somehow Miwa had a thought "I see, so by terms of the word used, the person who is using him, can't do it himself, so he has to find someone who can help him, but in his terms someone he can use."
"Aichi-sama is indeed powerful but the enemy knows that he won't hurt people, and using him…" Nikkari paused as the others understood what he was going to say next he thought he did not need to even say it.
"We are the same though, since we are swords of Aichi-sama although used for hurting others, we won't do something that would make him sad." Sayo is the one who spoke "Sorry about earlier Aichi-sama." Sayo held Aichi's hand.
Aichi pats him and told him "It's alright, thanks for getting angry at my sake." Making Sayo smile a little.
"He also knows who to pick, and picking someone who has hatred to fuel as power is very useful for that persons plans." Misaki added another possibility.
"This is getting troublesome if they continue to attack outside." Yagen added but then remembers something "But Kon-san, Mina-nee and Konnosuke did say that they were cautious enough to not let other people also know."
"That person who fought Aichi-sama also said that it would be troublesome if ever other people would come to know. That is why he closed of the area to prevent other people from coming." Souza added.
"Then they are only going to attack at areas where they know that they can hide evidences and make only small scales." Kasen surmised.
"The one in the park certainly did not look like small scale but they did tried to hide it." Nikkari added.
"Mou, stop talking about things like that here outside the citadel, you should just continue talking about that back at the citadel." Imanotsurugi bumps his head to Aichi's back.
"Yeah! The others are also waiting for Aichi-sama, don't just have him for yourself Yagen!" Midare closes in on Yagen.
"It's not like I'm the only one with him though." Yagen did not pull away from Midare as if saying he is not guilty.
"I guess we should clean up this place, this doesn't look very elegant as it did before." Kasen said looking around the area as did the others as they notice broken chairs and such because of the attacks from the enemy.
Nikkari remembers something as he start rummaging through his pocket "Mina-nee said this is a compensation for the damages." He handed down a pouch to Shin and decided to open it.
"THIS MUCH?!" He shouts as Misaki, Izaki, and Morikawa also decided to take a peek.
"It's from our savings by the way Aichi-sama, since Mina-nee said we are the ones who destroyed a property same with the one on the park." Nikkari smiles making Aichi literally smile and laughs nervously.
"W-wow Aichi, are you really some very rich master or something?!" Morikawa mentioned which somehow made Aichi's smile disappear since his own family doesn't know about this.
"B-but I can't take this much?!" Shin panics.
"She said to give Aichi-sama if it's too much for future uses in property damage again if you so declines the amount." Midare added.
Shin took a reasonable amount for the repairs and such and gives it back to Aichi "So everything that happened here…" Izaki spoke out as Misaki, Miwa, and Kamui looks at each other.
"I guess it's about time I tried doing that." Aichi prepares two talismans as it floated above Morikawa and Izaki "I only ask the two of you to keep what happened in here a secret, I can't tell you more than what you have seen, please understand, but I will try to answer question that I can answer."
"S-sure we won't tell anyone…" Izaki is still a little stunned at what happened, somehow also curious.
"I-it's fine thanks for protecting us." Morikawa looked away with a smug face but they can feel the sincerity from his words.
"Contract!" Aichi spoke out as the talismans turned to light particles and envelopes Morikawa and Izaki.
"My hatred of him went down" Sayo said looking up at him with this Aichi pats his head making the toudans laugh at his remark.
"Anyways it will take a while right? I can offer up the citadel as temporary place to hang out during weekends?" Aichi smiles earnestly.
The toudans really wanted to say no but with the smile he has they just can't say anything, thankfully "What?! That was our only secret place, it is not so secret anymore if they can come there even if it's on the weekends!" Miwa retorted.
"Yeah! The citadel is peaceful without Make-mi there!" Kamui added and agrees with Miwa.
"Hey!" Morikawa said in annoyance to their protests especially the name part.
"The other Touken Danshis are already loud as they are, and you are going to add someone who is a person that can match all of them." Misaki closes her eyes shaking her head back and forth as if implying dismay.
"Why are you so against me coming there?!" Morikawa shouted.
"We also don't like you coming there." Sayo noted as Yagen, Midare, Imanotsurugi, and Nikkari agrees with him which Kasen and Souza didn't much understand why.
"Am I really hated…" Morikawa slumps down with Izaki comforting him.
"It's fine Morikawa-kun, it's not like you will go there every time." Aichi smiles but somehow it has hurt Morikawa in a different way.
With this the toudans and the others has finally started cleaning up.
