Intro: This was supposed to be upload a week after that new story, but I was that lazy to open up my device and try and write, and now that my workloads are now fewer, I will try my best to continue and write. Chapter 78: Archery Showdown

In the end Aichi left it as it is and thought of just to wait for their story again later, thinking of who composes the team he instantly knew that Hasebe won't let it past not reporting it to him if it was really them. Yup he knows them quite well now and understand them, they won't do anything stupid unlike himself, because of that he was able to breathe again. It was just an accident surely they won't do it on purpose and he is sure that something happened that got out of hand.

For a moment while walking back to their classroom, with still full of other thoughts, Aichi winced and held his shoulder, it stung for a moment and just that moment only "Did I hit it or something?" he said while lightly rubbing the said wound.

~After School~

After school Aichi started on heading on to the place where he will meet up to them and there he saw the three were in a huddle and then when they have felt his presence "AICHI-SAMA!" Hasebe shouted.

"Uwahhhhh!"Aichi shouted in surprise to Hasebe who then suddenly ran to him and then bowed furiously. Knowing his reaction he was right that it was indeed them.

"Aichi-sama! About this morning we all apologize deeply as we have accidentally let loose of the tiger cubs and might have caused and get attention from the people in your school exposing them, it was our error we won't give you any reason or explanation of what happened before and after during that incident as it will only sound as we are denying or wanted to get out of this incident clean so we won't defend ourselves and instead we will accept our error and instead ask for our punishment on this mission!" Hasebe was talking so fast that Aichi was surprise himself that he was able to understand what he was saying, and as what he thought earlier, if they were really the ones in the rumor Hasebe will be the first to speak of it.

Aichi also knew of the people looking at their end but he tries to pay them no mind as hearing them out first is much more important, and when Hasebe finished his words Kogitsunemaru and Gokotai followed to Hasebe and bowed too.

"I am deeply sorry for this inconvenience we have put you!"

"W-we are really sorry, Aichi-sama…"

Aichi chuckled, he was happy that what he thought before was right, "Thank you for your honesty and asking for repentance regarding this matter, but I think that the feeling of failing and almost exposing yourself was already punishment enough, also please enough of bowing."

The three raised their head one by one "Aichi-sama…" as the three of them simultaneously whispered in between breathe.

"Thank you Aichi-sama we will better ourselves the next time." Hasebe said as the two nodded in agreement with what he said.

"It's alright, I know that if you did it, nor any of you in the citadel did it, it will surely be purely accidental. I won't blame you since I know you would be able to handle it well too, I'm sure you all will be able to deal with it already. Well then shall we head out and go home?" completely forgetting the fact that they are getting attention from the people that is passing by they decide to head out.

After a while from walking back to their destination though, from time to time, Aichi has noticed in his peripheral view that Gokotai was looking at him as if he wants to say something but was reluctant to.

"Gokotai." Aichi called out his attention which made the latter surprised.

Jumping from surprise "Y-yes?!" he answer as he glanced at Aichi for a moment but then became hesitant and looked away from him.

"Is there something you want to say?" Aichi smiled at him waiting for him to open up, while waiting, Kogitsunemaru and Hasebe looked at each other worriedly glancing back to the two as they wait for Gokotai "Is there something you want to tell to me?" He tries his best to handle the situation, for Gokotai to open up to him.

"U-uhm… Y-you see, when we were inside t-the school…" Gokotai hesitated.

"Oh did something caught your eye there?" Aichi started slowly.

"U-uhm, Aichi-sama…" Gokotai hesitated again.

"Yes?" Aichi waited patiently.

And then slowly raising up his hands Gokotai reaches out for the sleeves of Aichi's uniform and firmly held onto it "I… I want to ask more about your school, can you listen to my story and I also want to hear more from you!" Gokotai smiled and without a stutter on his voice he asked Aichi with confidence.

Aichi's heart warmed patting his head a little agreeing to his request "Of course!" He smiled to Gokotai as Kogitsunemaru and Hasebe looked at each other and smiled.

Gokotai smiled as he started off with his story "Y-you see Aichi-sama this morning…!" As they walked slowly back to the citadel, of course Hasebe won't let himself be outshined.

~At the Garden~

At the garden of the citadel Aichi was walking with Yagen towards Horikawa and Izuminokami's location and once they were near "Horikawa." Yagen called out their attention.

"Oh, Aichi-sama, Yagen, Good evening." Horikawa politely greeted as Izuminokami silently listens to the conversation.

"Tomorrow will be your turn right?" Yagen asked.

Horikawa nodded "Yes, is there something you need to rely?" he smiled looking at Aichi. Horikawa is sharp as always he instantly understood that there is something that they will be asking of him.

Yagen can only look beside him which is Aichi and then proceeded to why they were looking for him "Here is a medical kit that is specifically for you know what." Yagen sighed as he held out said kit to Horikawa.

Instantly thinking that something happened "Eh? Did something happen to you Aichi-sama?" In an instant Horikawa looked left, right, front and back of Aichi thinking that something might have happened to him again.

"No it's not like that…" Aichi raises his hands in defense and then gave up after thinking it might be best to tell the whole story first before telling the reason of why he was given a kit "You see this afternoon…" Aichi started off as he scratches his cheeks thinking of where to start.

~Flash back start- Afternoon after Class-~ -Aichi's Point of View-

This afternoon while waiting for the bell to rang, me, Izaki and Morikawa were roaming around the school to get away from the classroom because of circumstances since the homeroom teacher of ours had something urgent to attend to and now will be unable to do the homeroom and instead let us leave early.

Then while walking through the club rooms since it was a silent place you can be since the students will be there doing club activity, we came across the archery club, so we stopped by and watched. While watching knowing that I know how to use it Morikawa made endless comments from the members that ticked them off, specifically one of the members and got too agitated that when the coach of the team left she pointed at our direction.

"Specifically Morikawa…" Horikawa cuts in.

Y-yes… specifically at him, so instinctively when I noticed the bow was going to be released and where it would hit I used my bag to block the incoming arrow and couldn't help but speak and say "Such an ungraceful handling of the bow." Somehow it just felt insulting for the use of archery to hit a person because they are agitated and didn't notice I spoke out loud until the member that released that arrow said to me.

"Such a remark but I bet you can't even handle a bow and you say such things, what do you know about archery!" The female member of the club said agitated the one who released the arrow to us, she has a yellow hair that is tied to a pony with a red ribbon, her green eyes looks very ticked off from my remark, I tried to remember her face.

I can only sigh since it was the time where Morikawa bragged on and on saying along the lines of "He can beat all of you blindfolded."

And then the female member made a wager and introduced herself "My name is Michiko Fortuna! And I challenge this pipsqueak that you dare say can beat us blindfolded tomorrow after school!"

And then there is this striking man with matching black color of hair and eyes that stood up calming down Michiko-san without forgetting to scold her and apologize "Michiko, you shouldn't have let yourself be provoked by that, I've told you many times to watch your temper. We apologize for this and I would be greatly thankful if you let it pass."

"No way! She started it." Morikawa pressed.

Though technically Morikawa started it so Michiko-san countered with "You insulted us so pay the price!"

And so on and on…

~Flash back end~ -Normal PoV-

"So tomorrow after school I will be using my arms when doing so… of course I want to acknowledge and pay also for Morikawa's insults so this is the only way I can do." Aichi scratches his head.

"So these medical kits are for …" Horikawa started but then did not continue on to what he wants to say instead stared at the kit.

"For emergency if ever he over exerted himself tomorrow." It was Izuminokami who continued his words as he pops in to the conversation "We understand! We will watch till the end of the battle."

Aichi sweat dropped on the term Izuminokami used, nevertheless he was happy that he is being supported "It's not a battle, but thanks I will do my best!"

~-The next Day- Inside the school~

While roaming inside the school something has caught Horikawa and Izuminokami's eyes while searching around the school "Oi! Horikawa! This must be what Miwa was talking about!" he said while pointing out on the basketball that was left on the court.

"Ohhh! Let's go and check it out!" Horikawa with sparkles in his eyes then of course followed him but it was also because of purely his curiousness of the said basketball that Miwa has spoken of that is lying in wait as if waiting for them to play with them.

"But Aichi-sama…" Sayo tried his best to talk to the other two but it was too late as they have already started playing with the ball not knowing how to use them and instead just played with it basing from what Miwa has told them. Resigning himself from trying to talk them out of this, Sayo gave up and instead followed inside and decided to keep watch of any incoming person.

~After classes inside the classrooms~

While getting his things ready, inside their classroom Aichi was listening to a conversation in their room having a hunch that it might be related again with them.

"Hey have you heard what happened in the gym?"

"Oh you mean the bouncing basketballs!"

"Yes yes that!"

"Oh so you have heard."

"Yes it was creepy, I didn't think that ghost will be playing with equipment's."

"Hey, what if they were ghost of basketball players and are just playing with it in the gym."

"Either way it is still creepy to hear bouncing balls and then when you try to look the basketballs were as if they were just touched but there were no people in sight everyone has looked again and then will disappear."

"I agree! It's like they wanted to play and play but they are worried if someone might find out."

"Such considerate ghosts."

"Or maybe it could just be a prank!"

The group who were talking about the said incident were now laughing at the last sentences one of them has said as they started leaving the room one by one while Aichi can only sigh, he thought that he should have seen this coming but he can't help it they are curious but at least he knows they are still cautious and will ask maybe later of what has happened.

But then while thinking, someone called his attention it was Morikawa who is calling him out because of said agenda after classes in the archery club.

~At the Archery Club~

The girl Michiko who challenged them into a showdown is in front of the club room might be waiting for them to come, and at the meeting of the two the first thing that came out of her lips were "Oh, I thought you chickened out."

And of course they leave that part to Morikawa as Izaki and Aichi went on inside as the man who were with Michiko approached and welcomed them. Also almost gave Aichi a heart attack is that there are still members of the Archery Club no all of the member of the archery club are still there.

"W-why is there still so many people…" Aichi wanted to back out but somehow deep inside him, he wants to continue on and show them what he's got so in the end he decided to continue on.

"We are here to watch our Rising Star in Archery beat the crap out of others!" the other members cheered.

"Everyone please don't forget your manners." A voice said as the members of the club quieted down.

"Michiko!" the guy who is now walking in front of Aichi called out as to stop Michiko from quarreling with Morikawa, it was the same man who was able to calm Michiko, when she came the man in front introduced himself "My name Kaede Shizen the club president, welcome to the our humble Archery Club and of course you already know her Michiko Fortune the top of our club." At that instant Aichi could feel something puzzling behind that smile of his.

"So who is the person that will be having a face-off with our top member?" something that Aichi has understood is that they were really belittling him thinking that Morikawa was just making a fluke when making the statement that he was going to be the one who will be going to face off with the one Morikawa made a wager with, to which he could understand why.

"Oh uhm, that will be me." Aichi bowed his head a little slightly for a little greeting "I don't think our names are that important to be told since I'm sure we wouldn't be much of a warm up to her as all of you say." Aichi glanced at Michiko without meaning anything to what he said but to Michiko it sounds like he was intimidating him.

To Morikawa it was funny since Aichi has learned how to get on other peoples nerves and make intimidations that are not mean but has weight in it, while Izaki was only speechless at the very out of character words that came out of Aichi.

"It's fine Kaede, I don't think that we will even get something even as a warm up from him." Michiko turns around and then went on to position herself as if it means to start off.

"Should I help you pick a bow for you to use?" Kaede offered to Aichi.

While testing out and using out the bows that was lined up Kaede noticed that the bow that Aichi had picked was the bow that he uses, in that instant he knew that Aichi knows how to use a bow and knows what he is doing "May I borrow this?" Aichi asked to Kaede.

"Sure." Kaede said as Aichi proceeded in front and positioned himself but then he noticed that he did not take any other gear with him thinking of erasing the latter thought of him "Wait aren't you going to need any gear?"

As if not listening to what he is saying Aichi tries to get used to the said bow that he borrowed "So what are the rules?" he asked while familiarizing and waiting.

Thinking of continuing "There are three parts in this wager, in all of them you will have 3 chances in succeeding the turn, the first one is a normal one, you two will just have to hit the exterior of the bulls eye of course number four is the highest point. The second one is in the interior the same as the first eight is of course the highest point and finally the last one is of course a bull's eye." He paused for a moment as he looked at Aichi but he still sees nothing worth commending he looks awkward and meek as if his remark was nothing earlier.

"So as to not put pressure on the visiting team and a lot off time for them to prepare themselves Michiko will start off." Kaede said as he moves forward positioning herself.

Michiko started off with the posture and then the stance, afterwards it was the time to pull the string and successfully without trouble Michiko was able to aim at the fourth exterior of the said bulls eye. After the successful hit she smirks at Aichi.

Saying it was his turn but it meant much crueler, her eyes meant it was his turn to get himself embarrassed, because of that look, Aichi lost his nervousness and became serious. He prepares his stances as the others notice the graceful movements that he did, it was as if a priestess is performing in front of them, and without a moments necessary they weren't able to notice that Aichi had successfully hits the target as they were drawn to him.

They were greatly mesmerized and surprised in his movements but they all thought that it was just a stroke of luck and that he won't be able to do it again as those movement were just for show the crowd mumbled "Both got the highest points in this round, next round with Michiko starting off again, start."

Not wanting to be outdone, she tried to slow her stance to be a little graceful than before but the others were not that used to it so it was a surprise but they understood why. And of course at the release of the string, with a swoosh, she was again able to make a hit. For the second time she glanced at Aichi, with another smirk.

But of course he won't let it pass, Aichi started and same as the first the members are still mesmerized about his movements, and even if it hurts Michiko she knew that she couldn't attain that gracefulness, Aichi without trouble once again was able to match it, the members even Kaede was surprised that someone can match up to her accuracy.

At that Michiko looked at Kaede it seems there was a change of plans "Excuse me visitor but would it be alright to change the last part of the showdown since you are able to match up with her, let's upgrade it a little?" Kaede said smiling.

"That is fine by me." Aichi accepted the terms. It's not like he can argue or reject the terms, so he just went with it.

"Same with the first rule Michiko will start off and then you will go next." Kaede explained "But this time the last part of the showdown is hitting the bulls eye still…" he paused and seeing Aichi having no interest he continued on "but you have to hit it three times."

"Alright!" Michiko smiled knowing that this will be an easy win now.

"Okay." Aichi agreed thinking that although Mina is not watching he knows with the training he did he can do this.

"Alright Michiko, make us proud." Kaede cheered as did the other members.

"You don't have to tell me that." Michiko positioned herself as she readies her aim towards the bulls eye. Everyone from their club have their faith on her and were sure she would be able to hit the target. There goes one and they all cheered, second one of the members spoke "She got this." And then the third, almost missing but still within the circle.

The member's cheered, "That's our Michiko!" "I knew she got this!"

But to Michiko it was a failure, as the pressure and somehow intimidation crept up to her and made her almost miss it, but she thought why she would be feeling that? Her opponent is not even a renowned archer let alone this kid looks like someone who could be bullied easily. Kaede glanced at Michiko although she was smiling deep inside he knew there was something wrong.

"Very well done Michiko." Kaede comes up to her to comfort her.

"Kaede…" Michiko said understanding that she cannot hide her feelings to him.

Kaede pats Michiko's shoulder as he continued on "Now the decision point is whether you can hit it three consecutive times." Kaede said as he moves his arms forward to where the bulls eyes are for Aichi as if saying that it was his turn.

Aichi nodded understanding it as that it's his turn next, once again Aichi readies his stance.

Michiko mumbles between her voice "It's looks as elegant as hers…"

"Yeah…" Kaede agreed as they continued on watching.

"Although no one from the citadel can see me here, I know they are rooting for me too, beside my friends are here too, I got to show them what I got!" Aichi thought to himself as he prepares himself for his turn he puffed under his breath as he released the very first one "beginner's luck" a person said behind his back which he paid no attention to, he just thought to himself that he doesn't need anyone's recognition aside from the people he cares for.

"It's a good thing Mina-nee has taught me how to do this." Aichi whispered beneath his breath, as he released for the second one everyone were gaping their mouth at what they saw, Aichi tore apart the first arrow as the second arrow landed directly to the place where he aimed for the first arrow.

Behind him he could hear confused and mumbled sounds that made Aichi put a smile on his face. "Is that even possible!?" "How did he do that?!" "He must be cheating!"

Even Kaede and Michiko were speechless at the scene, surely if he can give that much force and momentum in that shot then he would be able to do it another time, at that Michiko admitted her defeat.

And finally the very last one Aichi readies to fire the third "I actually don't have any confidence that I can do a third one, but I have to at the least try if I can!" but then somewhere near them he felt a presence that surprised him "Who's there?!" he shouted looking around confusing the others.

Noticing something does feel like an unfamiliar presence Michiko readies her bow too and tries to read where it was.

But Aichi was quicker, he found already where the presence were from then aimed at where he felt the said presence, on impulse and thought that this might be an enemy he shot the last arrow not at the bulls eye but near the bushes.

Outro: this was longer than what I had planned so to prevent it, I decided to cut the last part so I could still be at what I usually try to limit my words.
