Chapter 2 The Battle

By some accounts it took Double D at least 2 hours till he had managed to reprogram the majority of the crew on the ship, however while this was done Eddy and Ed had managed to somehow create a small 'home' in the outer space by bringing some foods while Double D had managed to turn a small room into his personal lab and room, he also left behind several technologies to trinket later. By all accounts Double D would really look forward to study again how things work in this ship especially that he had at last managed to reprogrammed as much of the crew as possible to give the ship what was essentially needed, damage and fire control teams, deck crew, gunners, pilots, mechanics, maintenance and so on. Immediately after that he had immediately reactivated the ones on their side which immediately went to their posts.

"Well it took some time but at last it was done. One could say that we are ship-shaped and ready to sail." Double D said with pride.

"Wonderful at least we will have something to say now to them isn't it?"

"Ah yeah about that." Said the now reprogrammed commander, who was given some extra markings of yellow and blue to look a bit like Eddy's shirt alongside some drawings that Ed made on the others to distinguish the ones on their side to the ones who are not and aren't active. "We had received another message asking where this ship is and maybe we should do something about this."

"Geez who is leading that fleet that he is obsessed with this ship, can't he let go and declare it lost with all hands?" Eddy asked placing his hands to his head.

"Well Ventress isn't someone you would want to cross, especially if a message was sent to her when it was declared that this ship had been separated from the rest of the battle group." Said the commander which tracked the attention of the Eds by all accounts they knew from the show and media who Ventress was and it meant trouble not the size of the ship but the size of the sun.

"Ah, in how much time will she want the ship to be back again?" Double D asked.

"As soon as possible." Said the commander.

"Meeting." Eddy called and he alongside his friends gathered.

"OK, this is now serious we know who and how Ventress is, we need to make a decision." Double D said.

"That would mean joining their fleet." Eddy said.

"It is better this, then them coming here in full force. Like we said we go there only to stay behind the fleet and not track attention."

"Staying like ghosts." Ed said in his goofy manner.

"Hopefully it will work." Eddy said before they go to their position, Double D to the navigation console with the droids, Eddy to the captain's chair now wearing his captain's hat while Ed stayed to watch at the navigation.

"Well then plug some coordinates to join a fleet."

"Roger Roger." The droids said starting to tape some coordinates.

"YEAH, Space explorers on their way." Ed started jumping around.

"Commander Ed calm down." Implored one of the droids nearby before Ed taped another coordinates.

"ED!" Eddy and Double D shouted but they were already entering in the wormhole of hyperspace.

"Ed, you idiot. We can't let ourselves be discovered that we took the ship or throw our lives into who knows what planet." Eddy said.

"Oh boy. In what direction are we going?" Double D asked before the droid started to calculate.

"We aren't going into any object sir. We are going to rendezvous with another fleet of Munificent numbering 8 ships."

"Phew well at least we will not crush the ship into something."

"Problem will be if the situation will change somehow." Said the commander.

"Change how?" Eddy asked.

"Well since there is a war going on in the galaxy. Who know when that fleet could be attacked?" Double D said thinking about this scary situation of a galactic scale conflict.

"If there could be some way to know when that happens."

"Well the one possibility if we use the ship sensors to listen to what is happening around. However they are unmanned at this moment." The commander said.

"Well it seems I still got some work to do then. By the way do they work only when we are not travelling at light speed?"

"Communications can be used during hyperspace, but I don't think it is wise if they see you in hologram or on a screen."

"What about tracking ship movements?"

"It can be done, but only CIS ships and fleets in hyperspace."

"Well it is a start, you 2 come with me, we will man the radar and communication arrays to see how things are going." Double D said followed by the first 2 droids they had reprogrammed.

"Well in this case I will be here monitoring the situation." Eddy said taking a bag of chips to open it to start eating while looking in the seeming endless void which immediately bored him. "Do we have some music or a show that I could watch while the time goes?"

"Butter toast." Ed started eating some.

In the meantime

A fleet of 5 Venator class star ships were firing at a separatist fleet of 10 Munificent class frigates, by all accounts the battle had been going for only 20 minutes and it was at a stalemate despite the actions undertaken by the tholothian Master Adi Galia and human Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker who came to support her with his own strategy, augmenting her forces with his own flagship and a secondary ship, whom sometimes she wasn't very happy, taking this with some cynicism. However this battle was fought very hard with lasers flying everywhere and fighters engaging one another in intense duels.

"So Skywalker do you have any idea on how to break this deadlock?" She asked.

"I already am starting to do it." He said with confidence before turning to his Padawan. "Ahsoka do we have the fighters ready?"

"All of them are ready master alongside your star fighter." She reported.

"Perfect we will move in." He said before turning to admiral Yularan.

"Admiral you take command focus fire on the nearest ships, while I lead the fighter to take out the command bridge."

"Yes General." He said before he started to move before the hangar.

Back with the Eds

"Boy this way of travelling really does take some time." Eddy grumbled.

"If we think that we are travelling from one part of the galaxy to the other it could be, but in this case we had been travelling only for 20 minutes sir." Said the commander.

"It seemed like an hour watching the same wormhole in space."

"I don't think Commander Ed thinks the same." Reported the droid pointing to his fantasy filled friend.

"It was expected of him since he is living his own dream," Eddy commented sinking in the chair. In the meantime in another room Double D was listening throw headphones to the chatter on the local network. He was connected to a device big as a wall that connected him to the communications array and was listening to everything that was coming by, from music to different broadcasts and even different propaganda from both Republic and CIS by all accounts he was amazed by the fact the different information that were coming and going.

"Well it is really interesting the information that were coming from literally everywhere."

"One of the tasks a Munificent is made is to also broadcast propaganda among different worlds, it is the safest thing to do if I can comment on that."

"Because this model is made to be the workhorse of the navy and is also expandable. By all accounts this information isn't quite comforting if we stumble upon a battle." Double D said now feeling a bit of dread.

"It is not indeed sir, but nothing could be done in this case."

"The only thing that could be done is doing our best to try to not get into a battle." Double D said before a droid started to hear something.

"Ah speaking of battle commander I believe we got a problem?" Said one of the droids tracking the boy's attention.

"What is it?"

"It's a battle network of the CIS fleet, there is a battle close." He explained.

"Oh my, that can't be good." Double D said starting to tap some commands to find where the chatter was coming from and the results were nothing more but horrifying for him.

"I have to tell the others, keep listening to what is happening and declare the all clear signal to whoever will contact us. And if Ventress calls tell that the ship is joining another battle group. But don't tell about us alright." Double D said.

"Roger Roger." He said while the smart Ed started to walk out of the room by all accounts they will join another battle group but not in the best of ways.

"Boy good thing I had brought at least a magazine to kill the remaining time." Eddy said before the doors burst open and Double D came in.

"Eddy we got a problem!" Shouted Double D startling him and dropping the magazine.

"Geez Double D not so loud what is it?"

"I had been listening to the chatter from the radio room and we got an unwanted situation, which we have to avoid right when we exit from this tunnel." He said trembling himself.

"And that might be?" Eddy asked right when the tunnel ended and in came in the situation where they didn't wanted to be.

"Oh no." Eddy said not needing to be told now.

"General another separatist ship had exited hyperspace." Reported a clone on the command ship on Galia's ship and the Jedi Master immediately noticed it.

"Skywalker it seems they got some reinforcements."

"I see it, it is very far behind we shall get to it after we deal with the rest." Said Anakin while flying in his star fighter, shooting down several droid fighters with the squadrons following him, and passing by 3 ships the first 2 been disabled, while the other had been damaged.

"It's kind of funny that they sent a single ship to reinforce this fleet." Said Rex the clone captain that was also on the bridge on the other ship where Anakin was.

"It is probably a stray who fled from another battle nearby." Said the young togruta girl.

"Trouble, bad, pain." Ed said getting panicked.

"Put other coordinates for a friendly system." Eddy ordered.

"Uhh we could leave back to where we come from sir." Said one of the droids at the panels.

"No we can't let either of them to discover Earth we must get to another system preferably uninhabited, and from there go back." Double D explained thinking of where they could go before hearing a slight bang.

"What was that?" Eddy asked.

"Random laser shot from Republic ships and star fighters but the shields are holding." Reported a droid.

"Should we fire back?"

"N-no, we should try to retreat as soon as possible and quietly." Eddy ordered.

"Find the nearest and most deserted place." Double D said and the droids started to tap on the consoles and then another bolt made impact but the droids did found what they were looking for.

"I think we found it, Endor system. There is no one there according to the data." Reported a droid.

"Perfect, get us there as soon as possible. Full power to the shields to the most exposed parts of the ship" Eddy ordered while the ship was starting to move towards the direction of the star system.

"Admiral the new ship is attempting to flee." Reported a clone gunner to Yularan.

"Already?" He asked looking puzzled while fixing his eyes on the ship who indeed was attempting to change direction which was confusing since the others were attempting to flee.

"General Skywalker the new ship is trying to flee."

"I see it, it shall not get far I will investigate as soon as I can." He said while shooting down several other vulture droids.

"Why aren't we jumping out of here?" Eddy asked feeling another bolt hitting them.

"Sir we can't get out of here, a CIS ship is blocking us."

"Try to go around it tin cans." Eddy ordered.

"We might collide with another if we do it." Reported another.

"Oh this can't be good." Double D said while he and Eddy were starting to get nervous while Ed felt his brain working as well as been combined with some of his imagination.

"I am Ed ! Space WARRIOR!" Ed declared going to one of the consoles that was for the weapons and pushing the B1 droid aside taking full control.

"Ed what are you doing!" Double D asked shocked but before there was another answer Ed started to aim all weapons on the nearby Munificent that was blocking them, causing a slight explosion in the hull.

"What in the world?" Adi asked seeing what was happening from the bridge of her Venator.

"Separatist ship firing on their own, this is not something I expected." Ahsoka commented dumbstruck by what she was witnessing.

"The clankers on that thing are either faulty or someone is there and wants to flee." Rex said.

"Whoever is there is making our job easier. I am going in closer." Anakin commented moving towards the ship who by now managed to cripple the one that blocked their way and due to the fire been chaotic it managed to inflict some slight damage on a second one that caused the other ships to start to make manoeuvres to retreat. Giving Anakin the opportunity to get closer to the fly towards the bridge and saw 3 figures struggling to get someone out from the consol that was still using it like maniac firing everywhere. Upon closer look he managed to notice that the 3 of them are actually some crazy kids.

"You must be joking." Was the only thing he could think about at that moment before retreating noticing their fleet was now advancing.

"ED STOP!" Double D and Eddy alongside some of their droid friends managed to get him off from the console for him to calm down.

"Ed you monobraw what part from not drawing attention you don't understand."

"Ed couldn't resist, had to help, violence bad for Ed." He said panicked.

"Sirs, we got an opening now. We have to go the Republic is catching up on us." The droids from the console reported.

"Get us out of here." Eddy ordered and the ship took to light speed and out from the system while the republic fleet is advancing towards them thanks to the remaining ship attempting to retreat, however only 3 had managed before the Eds had managed to get away. And they were now able to take a break.

"Phew, that was a close call." Eddy said.

"That one could be considered an experience." Double D said.

"You know sirs we kind of get this almost all the time since we were manufactured and it never is or was pretty." Said OM-1.

"Say that again. However I guess that someone had enjoyed this experience." Eddy said pointing to their goofier friend.

"Ed lived its dream." He said with a smile realising what he had done and loving it.

"By the way did we manage to convince Ventress this ship had joined its post on another fleet?" Eddy asked.

"I will go find out." Double D said going to the communication and radio centre.

In the meantime

"Well, can't deny this battle wasn't the shortest of all." Ahsoka said.

"Too bad that we didn't found the fleet that is attacking our supply lines." Galia commented throw the hologram.

"What is still startling me is why one separatist frigate started to fire on their own ships out of sudden." Yularan asked before Anakin had entered the room alongside his trusted astromech R2D2.

"I believe I can answer that question, and I believe we got also a way to find the fleet that is creating trouble here." Anakin said while R2 had plugged in.

"And how could that be done?" Asked Galia asked.

"Well let's just say that, that ship isn't commanded by droids, surprisingly."

"Who could be in charge general?" Rex asked.

"You wouldn't believe if I tell you, but I assure you, they will help."

"They?" Asked Yularan confused.

"R2 did you placed the coordinates to where they went."

"Bee-bee-bee." He responded.

"Hmm, another sector, they really must have done this in a hurry."

"Are you sure it's wise to follow a single ship? What if it's a trap?" Asked Galia.

"Trust me, it isn't. I don't think they wanted to be here in the first place as well." Anakin said.

"Do you think that they would really help us?" Yularan asked.

"They do because they wouldn't have a choice especially if you see who they are."

"Really wonder if that will be true." Galia said with cynicism.

"Let's first inform Obi-Wan about this so he would give us clearance to follow them.

With the Eds

The travel from the battle was like the first time very uneventful, while been travelling at light speed they were all able to calm down and resume their activity, Eddy was captaining the ship while Double D was working on reprogramming several more of the deactivated battle droid units while Ed was exploring around the ship.

"How much time do we have to wait till we exit?"

"It wouldn't be too much sir, we are nearly there." Reported the OOM commander droid while Double D entered fully dressed in a special astro-suit made by him to explore the moon of Endor, he was already imagining himself the first human of Earth to explore outside of the solar system and outside of the Orion Arm. The furthest location they ever came.

"Urgh, oh my I really can't wait to study the flora and fauna of an alien planet. It shall be the best way to activate my lab at last." Double D said.

"Sir it is primarily a forest moon. It isn't too much however the locals are very primitive, the locals been Ewoks alongside other primitives." Reported the droid.

"Ahh even with that prepare a shuttle with some droids I want to take some plant samples at least." Double D said.

"Ahh Double D did white devil Ventress wanted anything?" Ed asked.

"Well the good news is that Ventress asked where the ship went, and I had to mention we are on another battle group but had to retreat. I don't think that she will come here, since she just got 2 replacement frigates for her fleet. Meaning she doesn't need this ship anymore. But there could still be a possibility of her to come here to probably occupy this planet or build an outpost if nothing else." A communication droid said.

"Joy killer, at least it's better than to occupy Earth, wonder what she is doing anyways." Eddy asked.

"I don't think we should know." Double D said taking up some boots.

"Prepare a shuttle gentleman alongside some droids I am going to the surface."

"Roger Roger commander, should we also prepare a camera to record anything?"

"Yes please, everything must be documented." Double D ordered before the taller and stronger of the trio came as well.

"Ed wants to come, wants to explore new planet." He said with excitement.

"What about you Eddy?"

"Well, what the heck I am not here to watch places only from outer space." Eddy said before thinking about something and dollar symbols appeared on his eyes.

"Actually I will also take some pictures of the landscape and everything." Eddy said.

"Wonderful." Double D said.

"Ah sirs you know we could also try to establish an outpost, we have the resources to establish several." Said a droid.

"We aren't here to stay but to study the place." Double D said.

"I know but there could be dangers down there and also this was kind of the procedure that should have been done when we came across a new place like Earth."

"The CIS can do it without having us interfering."

"If you say so sir but an escort however is advisable, at least a squad." Said the OMM commander.

"Well I did managed while during our faster than light speed travel to reprogram at least another 70 of different variants." Double D said.

"Prepare at least 20 and it will be enough. And by the way, hide the ship behind the gas giant." Eddy ordered.

"To hide ourselves from the Republic I agree." Said one of the pilots.

"Oh and don't engage just stay in hiding and make sure you wouldn't be spotted." Eddy said while the 3 left the bridge.

"Roger Roger."

"You know this adventure is way more enjoyable then what we did with the CIS." Commented OM-01.

"You can say that again. And still, what is happening back in the Cul-De-Sac, by all accounts they sure have other neighbours who probably noticed their absence." Said OM-235.

"Heh, really wonder the same thing."

Back to the Republic Fleet

"Are you saying that you want to find a mysterious ship that appeared out of sudden and started to attack the separatist fleet you were engaging?" Asked Obi-Wan threw his hologram to his former student, by all accounts he didn't looked to impressed.

"It could be in a way our best bet, to find where the fleet is in order to have our supply lines secure for this sector." Anakin said.

"What could you exactly expect to do with a ghost ship that came out of nowhere? That started to attack others just to leave."

"That is the point master Kenobi, what droid would attempt to flee immediately after coming into a battle." Ahsoka said making the Jedi master think about this.

"I do admit that now this is off."

"There is a reason for this now Master, the one that was commanding the frigate wasn't a droid what I saw however really was startling. Whom I believe none of you would believe if I tell you." Anakin said remembering the scene he saw with some spice of amusement. Master Galia and Obi-Wan didn't however share this view.

"Huh, if you think that this is somehow something that will help us. Find it and see if whoever commands it will help us."

"Luckily we know where we must go; R2 had saved the coordinates of where it could be." Anakin said before in the hologram, Commander Cody came to whisper him something.

"I hope that you will find it soon, since the separatists had already raided another convoy. I will go and try to save what can be saved now." Obi-Wan said.

"We will be on our way." Anakin said before the message ended.

"I hope we wouldn't run into something like a trap Skywalker." Galia commented.

"We wouldn't, since they will have no choice in this matter and because they don't seem to want to be on their side." Anakin said before R-2 plugged in the coordinates before going into hyperspace.
