Chapter 140:

Avengers, Disassemble!

Being a demigod was kind of a lonely life. Most of the time you spent your time running away from problems with your fellow demigods, who also had no idea what to do.

Standing next to the Avengers, superheroes from an alternate dimension, made me feel kind of home. Sure, there was still a lot of craziness. But for once, I wasn't the only one responsible for causing it, or fixing it. I was part of a team of heroes, who had, hopefully, some sort of idea on what to do.

Above us in the sky the portal started buzzing with energy. The beam that shot up straight from the Stark Tower tripled in brightness as if it was feeding the dark portal.

In some sense it was. And since its meal grew in size, the portal had grown in size as well.

The already great gap began to enlarge and expand in all directions. Thousands of Chitauri began to fly out of it, followed by more of those flying whales.

And from the looks of it, those were not even the back up. The portal was just wide enough to give us a glimpse of what was behind it

In the dark space behind that barrier we could see spaceships and an even larger army awaiting us.

"Well shit." I cursed.

"Don't lose hope yet." Captain America turned around.

"You got a plan?" Natasha asked.

Steve shrugged apologetically. "Not really, for now let's just focus on containment and saving lifes, does anyone disagree?"

No one spoke up. Even the Hulk managed to keep silent, which was compliment worthy.

"Okay, what's the plan cap?" Tony asked.

"Barton, I want you on that roof," Steve pointed at one of the higher buildings. It was still crowded with Chitauri. "Keep your eyes on everything. Call out patterns and strays. Stark, you got the perimeter. Anything gets more than three blocks out, you turn it back or incinerate it."

Clint looked at Tony, "Care to give me a ride?"

I had the idea Tony smirked behind his iron mask. "Thought you'd never ask. Better clench up, Legolas."

He picked up the archer by his shoulder and they both shot up in the sky. Stark was blasting his lasers while he did.

Captain America turned to the god among us.

"Thor, you've gotta try and bottleneck that portal. Slow them down. Use the lightning. Light the bastards up."

"You got it!" Thor spun his hammer in his hand and then released it, shooting off towards a higher point.

"We'll stay down here." Natasha nodded.

"And Hulk," Steve looked at the big green guy. A small smile appeared on the captain's face. "Smash!"

A magnificent grin began to appear before the Hulk jumped up and reached the side of the buildings surrounding us. He dug his fingers into the wall and began snapping Chitauri off the walls left and right. Smashing them against the pavement before leaping to another point, repeating the process.

"And what about me?" I asked, twisting both Riptide and Frostsilver.

"I have no clue what you can do." Captain America admitted. "But I got the idea that you can hold your own. Try assisting wherever you can and stay alive!"

"Got it!" I saluted him, causing his trademark smile to slightly waver.

I turned around to face the portal.

Thor was gathering lightning up there. Probably charging up for a big attack. The next wave of attackers was already crashing down on the city. I needed to get higher.

I looked at the Iron Man Gauntlet and thrusters. They were pretty good but unlike Tony I had no fine control over them. I could use them to slightly stay afloat, or steer but it was painfully clear how inept I was with them.

Even my own, slightly more suicidal, method would work a little better.

'You think Tony will be mad if I break them?'

'Please, he has an assembly line for those. No need to sweat it, probably.' Chaos replied.

I shrugged and lit my hands on fire. Immediately the metal gauntlets detached themselves, falling uselessly to the floor. Yeah, no way these would fly again.
I did the same for the other parts and was free once more. No offense to Stark, but using magical powers was loads better than trusting this weird technology.

"That's better," I smiled. "Now, how does this work again?"

If Spiderman could do it, so should I.

'Don't worry, I'll help a little bit. There are no ancient laws in this world, so I have a little bit more to work with.' Chaos said. 'Besides, it wouldn't be good if my Champion dies because he ran into a window.'

'Geez, thanks.' I murmured.

I aimed my palm at a nearby rooftop and imagined a web line being launched.

It worked as expected and it connected to a metal stairway on the end of the block.

Next I tried pulling myself forward. Using both the web and my enhanced strength to leave the ground.

I put a bit too much power into that launch because I was soaring through the sky while I was still working through all of the mental steps. Nonetheless I managed to regain my senses and launch two other weblines to the sides of two buildings before hitting the ground. I used both of them two catapult myself even further up into the sky until I had a clear view of the perimeter.

Thor's lightning finally started to work. Big flashing arcs rose from his hammer and shot up at the portal and the hoards of Chitauri. Frying them the moment they left the portal. Hundreds of Chitauri instantly vaporized as the sky had become a web of interconnecting arcs of energy.

Despite this, far too many Chitauri flew through the gaps and holes of the stopgap. Descending down onto the city like a plague.

It was hard to tell the numbers but a lot of escapees flew down into my direction. A few of them were shot out of the air with exploding arrows. Guess Clint was doing his thing. I threw another web line. It attached itself to the very top of a big warehouse. I allowed myself to lose some height and almost touched the ground as I completed my ar before launching myself into their direction, combining a new line with my previously gained momentum. I was propelled even higher in the air.

You might wonder why I wasn't screaming my lungs out at that moment because by all accounts, I should have been. Especially when I flew past the flying chariots with my sword drawn and spinning, cutting some important looking parts as I did.

Honestly, it was really hard to feel what I was doing. Part of Arachne's powers helped me make sense of the situation and part of it was my ADHD and Chaos' influence.

I shot a webline at a flying vehicle, pulled myself closer and released the string. I flew straight overhead with a rather crappy summersault. I still managed to swing my blade as I did so, killing the driver. Picking the next target I shot another webline at another Chitauri's back and adjusted my trajectory.

I grapled towards him but right before I arrived I launched a second line in the opposite direction. This caused me to spin in the air. I stuck out my blade and cut through a Chitauri before being propelled to another one. Zipping over their heads and slicing backs at high speed was something else entirely.

They noticed my presence and started shooting me so I was forced to hang onto the side of a chariot. The driver noticed me but was too busy keeping the chariot steady to attack me.

I tossed the frozensword at one nearby squadron. It spun through the air and hit the Chitauri in the front. I closed my fist and forced my sword to explode into a burning fireball.

The guy riding the chariot finally managed to aim a spear at me so I let go of his spacecraft and shot a line at another Chitauri, but not before slicing through the engines.

A routine was starting to take shape.

I would launch myself, slash the Chitauri with my swords as I flew past them. Dodge incoming fire and repeat the process. It was a dangerous game of keeping clear where I was headed, balancing myself and slicing open the backs of unsuspecting Chitauri.

The next few minutes were just one blur of zipping around, stabbing and dodging at high altitude. A skill I never thought I had. Or atleast, the combined three of them. Apollo's blessing helped me aim where to shoot my lines while Arachne's gave me at least some semblance of balance. At certain points I could feel Chaos also take over when things grew a bit more hectic.

Despite this, far too many Chitauri slipped past my attacks and descended lower.

Every now and then I would see the Iron Man suit flying around the perimeter, shooting lasers at the ones Thor and I couldn't filter out and whenever one of the Chitauri was about to hit me in the back an arrow would find its way into their heads.

The Hulk, well he was jumping from building to building. Grabbing Chitauri in the middle of his jump and burying them when he landed. Despite his lack of flight he probably killed double the amount of Chitauri I did.

A bone shattering roar tore through the streets. A new wave of Chitauri descended from the portal. This time a couple of the space whales were accompanying them.

'Those are called Leviathans.' Chaos cheerfully explained.

"Good to know that a couple of Leviathans are headed my way." I replied sarcastically. I decided to head a little lower, where at least I would be protected from attacks on the side. Also, I had run out of Chitauri to grapple too.

I landed next to Steve and Natasha. Steve was taking a short breather while Natasha was shooting the Chitauri with an alien-looking rifle. She was quite good at it too, every shot landed and vaporized them on the spot.

"You guys got it covered down here?" I asked.

"For now," Steve grimaced. "But if they keep coming like this we'll run out of space to retreat."

A squadron of Chitauri appeared on our flanks.

I threw Frostsilver at them but before my sword could reach them a rain of arrows had decimated them all.

I looked up and saw Clint standing on top of that building. His bow already aimed at his next target. Up in the sky massive creatures dove through the air.

The Leviathans that were coming.

"That's going to be an issue." Natasha spoke her mind, looking up as well.

Thor's thunder struck multiple Leviathans up in the air.

The white lightning literally tore through their plating and flesh like a laser. Causing them to drop. At least 3 of those beasts were put down by that but the lightning stopped coming after that and I had the idea Thor's battery had been drained by that last attack.

He swung his hammer and jumped down from the top of the building, taking Chitauri with him as he fell.

Great, so no more lightning then.

The Hulk suddenly appeared from a nearby alley and soared overhead after taking a leap.

Forget what I said about lacking flight by the way.

He easily reached the closest Leviathan and held onto it's faceplating. Dragging it down with its sheer weight and causing the huge monster to tear through a nearby building.

Again, more were coming down already.

"Stark, got a way to bring those beasts down?" Steve spoke into his earpiece.

"If you get rid of my stalkers I'll answer that question."

Tony flew straight overhead, as if he was in a hurry.

Not a second later an array of Chitauri appeared as well, blasting their weapons at the flying robot suit.

Steve raised his shield and absorbed one shot before throwing his shield.

It struck 5 Chitauri, bouncing from target to target, before returning to him. He caught it gracefully.

"Shield up!" Stark suddenly warned.

Steve did as he was told and not a second to late.

Tony appeared again and aimed a laser at Steve's shield. The magical shield of his reflected the beam straight into a line of Chitauri. Piercing them all at the same time.

The remaining Chitauri cried out in rage and roared loudly.

Natasha aimed her rifle and hit 4 of them within the space of 2 seconds. The remaining cluster was hit by an arrow. The arrow itself exploded into multiple other arrows, causing them all to drop. They reminded me of the special arrows the Apollo Cabin used. Except a bit more lethal.

"More of these Leviathans are coming." I spoke, pointing up. "And I have the idea that Thor just ran out of power."

I myself also felt exhausted. I quickly summoned a piece of Ambrosia and quickly swallowed it.

"I myself am getting tired as well."

'You might want to avoid using any more Ambrosia.' Chaos suggested. 'Unless you want to explode on the spot.'
"Same." Tony replied. I thought he was talking about exploding on the spot but then I realized he was talking about his arc reactor.

"This can not go on forever."

All of the Avengers were getting slower, more tired. I had the idea we soon would be forced to stop.
Of course the enemies kept coming.

Following behind the Leviathans was Loki. Still scooting around on his chariot as if enjoying the scenery. That bastard.

Natasha raised an eyebrow. "Can you guys keep the big ones occupied? I think I'd like to have a chat with a prankster up there."

"Keep the space whales occupied. No biggie." Tony took off again. Flying straight through the street and releasing an array of missiles onto the Leviathans from above. They all struck but none of the explosions seemed to harm them that much. It only angered them.

"Guess I'll try to help." I swallowed. Silently wondering how in Hades' name we were supposed to take down those monsters when only Thor's lightning and Hulk's raw strength had managed to do that so far.

I never did well against giant foes, at least not with extra divine help.

Nonetheless I called upon my spider powers once again and took off. Using the buildings to gain momentum, grappling onto anything in my path and using it to shoot myself further.

Tony's missiles at least angered them, causing them to momentarily stop their rampage in favor of chasing after him.

I reached him and shot a webline towards the nearest Leviathan. I swung right underneath its massive belly, passing several Chitauri clinging to its side. I swung upwards and let go of the string.

I looked down and saw I was about 60 feet (16 meter) above the Leviathan of my choosing.

The top of the beast was already occupied by a squadron of Chitauri. They had no intention of sharing their seats. They aimed their spears and riffles at me.

Several frozen swords tore into the back of the Leviathan.

The giant beast didn't even acknowledge them. Nor did the Chitauri. That was, until I forced them all to explode.

For a short second the back of the Leviathan was covered with flames. The beast cried out but maintained airborne. but at least I got rid of its passengers.

I fell down and landed on it's back, feeling definitely the strain of several explosions. I gave up on using Frostsilver and instead summoned my shield and Riptide.

A couple of Chitauri who were riding on the sides of the Leviathan surfing didn't like my presence. They startled crawling up the sides and aimed their weapons at me. The Shield of Winter unfolded right on time. Absorbing the blast.

After that the Leviathan we stood on suddenly went straight up. Following Tony who did the same.

The Chitauri fell off immediately. I almost fell as well but with one hastily thrown webline I managed to at least swing behind it like a rag doll.

Small victories.

Talking about victories, I suddenly got a new idea. Maybe I might be able to take down the Leviathan with some combined attack but I could feel my reserves were almost empty. I had one final good attack in me.

'Chaos, tell Tony to fly towards the Hudson river.'

'Got it.' She replied.

The Leviathan riding next to mine also gained a new driver. Thor had landed onto its back and was swinging his hammer around. Taking down the Chitauri riding his beast.

He was joined by the Hulk who, quite literally, jumped out of a nearby skyscraper and landed onto it's back.

The Hulk ripped a piece of armor off the Leviathan and stabbed it into its back, driving the piece of metal right where it's head would be.

A sudden lightning strike from Thor's hammer connected with the metal shard and their Leviathan began to crash.

'Why don't we have lightning yet?' I asked Chaos while climbing back onto the Leviathan's back.

Chaos didn't answer.

I didn't have to wait long as Tony suddenly took a sharp turn to the left and headed towards the closest body of water.

Like a dog chasing a car the Leviathan abruptly followed, tearing through rooftops as he cut corners.

Again I almost fell off it's back but one of the back spines gave me some leverage and cover.

'Okay, we're above the river.' I heard Tony's voice call out in my head. 'Whatever you plan to do, do it quickly.'

Great. Finally I was in my element.

'Chaos, please help me out.'

I closed my eyes and tried to reach out to the river underneath. Immediately I could feel it connecting to me. To my powers. Of course it would, the river bled straight to the sea. My source of power. My original source of power.

I opened my eyes and roared.

Underneath me the Hudson river exploded. Launching itself into the air until a massive body of water floated above the Leviathan like a dark cloud.

For one brief moment it hung suspended in the air. Enough water to fill the river underneath us hung suspended in the air.

Tony quickly flew away.

Then, like all things do, an unquantifiable amount of water came down, crashing upon the flying beast and dragging it down underwater before it could process what the Hades was going on.

I leaped off it's back and watched it get dragged down to the bottom of the river. It tried to stay airborne but it was as if the water had a will of its own, and was determined to drag it to the bottom.

It continued to trash and flail, causing several waves but as I expected. The Leviathan couldn't swim.

Above me, Tony flew over.

I shot out a webline towards Tony as he was the only thing even remotely close to me.

He caught the line and, like a rescue helicopter, flew me across the river back to the mainland.

I felt completely burned out.

At the moment I was fairly certain I looked fairly ridiculous, but I couldn't help smiling.

Tony however, seemed distracted by something.

"Guys," Natasha's voice called out suddenly. "Loki is down. I got Doctor Selvig up here. We found a way to close the portal."

"Great," Steve breathed a sigh of relief. "Do it!"
"Hold on!' Stark called out. "Keep it open for a little longer."

"What?!" Three Avengers cried out at the same time.

"They are still coming through." Clint warned. "I can see 7 more of those big ones on the other side, preparing to take off."

"I know," Tony muttered, sounding annoyed. "A few more seconds."

He looked down and dropped me at an empty, torn up street. "End of the ride kid."

Before I could say anything he flew away. Towards the….shore?

"What's going on?" I asked. I launched myself up to get a better view of the situation.

A half destroyed billboard gave me a surprisingly good view of the city.

The beam on top of the Stark Tower was wavering in strength. Above it, the portal had already started to close.

On the other end of the island I could see Tony Stark flying off into the sunset.

'That's not a sunset.' Chaos remarked grimly.

I narrowed my eyes, wondering what else it could be. Then I recognized it.

A missile. A very big missile. Bright enough to be mistaken for a setting sun. And it was headed towards the city.

"Is that?"

'Nuclear.' Chaos nodded.

"The portal is closing." Natasha warned. "I can't keep the reactor stable anymore."

"Just a little longer." Tony breathed.

He had attached himself underneath the missile. It was hard to make out but it seemed like he was steering it? Was that even possible?

The portal had started to shrink even more, now being only half its original size.

Tony reached the city with the bomb on his back and flew up, towards the…

"That son of a gun." Steve's voice came through.

"Close it!" Tony disappeared into the portal right as he said that.

The next few seconds were one of the longest in my life. I saw Iron Man disappear into the portal right as it was closing.

The next 7 seconds I prayed that he would pop out again. But to my horror the portal kept shrinking until there was only a small, tiny gap.

The beam shut down.

And then.

He fell through.

His body limp, the lights of his suit off. But still, back on earth. The portal closed behind him as he fell.

I wondered if I could reach him in time but luckily the Hulk intervened. Jumping from skyscraper to skyscraper to snatch him out of the air.

Carrying the man almost like a bride, the Hulk slid down the side of a building. Protecting Tony from all the rubble with his arms.

I zipped across rooftops and buildings to where the rest were. Hoping that Tony was still alright.

The others had already gathered at an abandoned crossroad. Surrounded by lifeless Chitauri and burned out cars. All of the aliens dropped dead once the portal closed so that explained at least that.

I landed on top of a car and jumped down, sprinting the last meters.

"Is he okay?!" I called out. "If necessary I can heal him…"

I came to a stop. The others parted for me, showing me Tony who was lying on the ground with his face plate removed.

"No no! I am fine!" He waved his gauntlet at me. Or tried but his limb wouldn't work. He gave me a pained look. "Everything's fine,"

He looked a little dazed. Probably from the space trip he just took. As if he just noticed the ruins around us he looked at the streets warrily.

"Okay, the city is not completely fine," he admitted. "But I saw a Shawarma restaurant a few blocks away that isn't in complete ruins yet."

He smirked.

"Are you guys hungry?"

A/N Hi people. Happy new year and all that stuff.

So, it seems like we are finally wrapping up this "short" and fun crossover. Originally I started this crossover to buy some time for Rick's fourth book but I feel like, by now, It is about time to end this arc. There will be at least 1 chapter left and then we'll get back to the book...I don't even know anymore.

Or should I wait for Rick to release his new series? I guess I could make a couple more filler arcs if you guys want. We still have an Attack on Titan crossover coming ;-)

Also, I went sort of all out with this chapter and the power scaling compared to the rest of the chapters might not make complete sense but hey, it's a fun spin off and I have the excuse that Chaos was helping and there were no ancient laws in the MCU.

Fun thing, back when I started this arc Endgame was not even out. Now, we have Spider man 3, No One Home. Crazy eh?

Considering we don't talk much these days I guess I'll leave a few more words here anyway. I hope to update a little bit more often in the future. Honestly, I had a lot on my plate, and still have, but I think I am ready to get fully back into this fic.

Just 1 more chapter to wrap things up. And hey. If you truly can't wait for more Champion of Hope content (which I doubt), go check out the spin off written by CaptainMoonShine. Her story, No More Heroes, is really great, I think. Haven't checked it out yet.

So yeah, leave a review. We don't nearly talk as much these days and I would love to hear more from you guys and gals.

Aight, cya!

AadenHelan:

You take a Percy from war against titans and he lost against Loki and MCU Loki at that? do you know how weak Loki is in MCU even in the comics there's only some of his counterparts that is worth mentioning in strength and fighting skills

A: Percy was so unlucky he came across a, more competent, variant. Lmao, no I just upped the stakes a little. I couldn't see a fathomable divergence that would have caused the Black Order to intervene, otherwise I would have done that.
