Chapter 141:
Can I have your Interdimensional Phone Number?
"So…" Tony took a big bite. "This is some real good stuff."
"Food worthy of the Gods." Thor nodded, stuffing an unhealthy amount of shawarma into his mouth.
"Food worthy of a demigod." I agreed.
The rest of the Avengers didn't bother interrupting our feeding frenzy. Natasha gave Tony some odd looks when he tried to work a piece of bread bigger than his hands into his mouth but politely didn't say anything. The man had almost died after all, so he was given a little lee way.
The only one to outdo us all was the Hulk who managed to devour his meal with an almost mechanical efficiency.
In fact, all of us had been through a lot in the past few hours, so a little gluttony was acceptable under these circumstances.
Even if this resulted in Thor and I having a fight over who could eat faster and more. Bruce was disqualified by default.
Steve was silently eating his, occasionally commenting on something but mostly he ate in silence. There was a meandering gaze present, as if he was secretly communicating with his food. Or maybe he was just enjoying the marvels of the 21th Century.
He was vacantly smiling, as if he still had trouble believing he was eating shawarma while the city outside had been blown to pieces by aliens. I don't blame him for it.
Bruce Banner...well, he was still in his greener form. That didn't stop him from enjoying the food with us, even though his piece of bread looked pitiful compared to his own size.
He appeared to be relaxed and in a good mood.
Natasha was seated next to the big guy, keeping an eye on him while enjoying her own meal. Or at least, I hoped she was. It was hard to say whether she liked shawarma or not.
Clint was enjoying his part of the spoils in peace. After making a call to his family he joined in on the feast and was visibly savoring every bite.
Thor, Tony and I were feasting like animals.
I had grown extremely hungry after hours of zipping around and slashing through Chitauri. And it was a nice change of pace to eat at this rundown cafe instead of some ultra defended Shield base.
"So what now?" Natasha asked when Tony had finally given up on eating up the entire restaurant's stock.
"What do you mean with what now?" Tony asked.
Steve leaned forward. A concerned look on his face. "The whole world has seen us by now. Everyone has their eyes on us."
"Well duh," I said. "We are the Avengers right? Like I said, superheroes."
"It's not that easy," Steve raised his shield. "You and Thor will just leave, right?"
I nodded uncomfortably. I was indeed running short on time. Although time stretched differently between universes, I was getting rather homesick.
And unlike Thor and I who could literally leave earth, the rest of the team had to deal with the fall out.
"I have to return the Tesseract." Thor grunted. "And my brother. It might be some time before I'll find the time to return."
"And you?" Natasha asked. "How does your world travel, power work?"
"Universe," Tony coughed.
"What?" Natasha asked.
"He's from another universe, one that is parallel to ours." Tony explained.
'Technically not parallel, or even close. You are far outside of their Multiversal Nexus.' Chaos informed me. 'But since you were about to ask. Returning to this world should be easy.'
"Well, I can return whenever I want." I said. "Though I think communication will be difficult. I have my own quests and Lokis."
Thor frowned.
"Actually, Percy," Tony extended his hand out to me. "You still got the phone you borrowed?"
Oh, yeah. Completely forgot about it. "Natasha has it."
"Your phone was deep inside SHIELD's private servers." Natasha looked at Tony.
"And?"
She sighed before giving Tony back his phone. Where she kept it was a mystery to me.
"If I make a few modifications," Tony began to rapidly hit the touch screen. "I might be able to turn the phone signal from international into transdimensional."
"Really?" Clint asked.
"I might be able to make it work." Tony shrugged. "We got a lot of data from the Tesseract. Sending a simple text message to another universe isn't that absurd anymore."
"Why a phone?"
"Oh well," Tony said. "If there's an emergency, we can text you. Or if you need any help. We are a team now."
"Or if it's time for movie night." Steve winked.
"I admit, this team is growing on me," Clint leaned back in his chair. "Might as well try to keep it together."
"A long distance relationship." Natasha joked.
'It won't work,' Chaos sighed. 'He's thinking too small. At best the signal might extend a few universes away from his own. Let me help.'
The Stark phone suddenly lit up with an ethereal glow. A divine shine washed over it before it returned to its previous earthly state.
"Now it works." Chaos' voice came through the speakers of the phone Stark was holding. "And don't worry, it won't attract monsters."
The attention of everyone in that room was suddenly on that phone. The Hulk warily growled at the glowing device. Even Tony was holding his own phone as if it was from an alien artifact.
"Who is that?" Steve finally asked.
"Wait, I haven't introduced her yet?" I asked out loud.
"Her?"
'No, you didn't.' Chaos mentally pouted.
"Percy," Tony gave me a questioning look.
"Oh, this is going to be a long story."
Thor shrugged.
"I could go for some dessert."
"I saw an intact Ice cream stand some blocks down," I mentioned.
"Well, let's head out." Steve said.
"Boys." Natasha shook her head. But I could see a smile was hidden.
No one said anything about the future. Or the upcoming goodbyes.
At that moment we were just a team. Having fun.
Two spies, a soldier out of time, a god of thunder, a brilliant billionaire, a scientist with anger issues and an Interdimensional Demigod.
I could get used to more adventures with these guys.
A/N Hey, it's been a while. Honestly, I might or might not have rushed the ending. But in my defence. I kind of want to get back to the main plot lines. So yeah, this should be the final chapter of the cross over. For now.
I had a jolly time writing it. It took a while but now let's go back to Camp.
I'll add a power chart next chapter as a quick refresher. Honestly, it's been way too long.
I need to read up on all the original lore and stuff. Time to get the road map out of the basement.
Thanks for sticking with me. And I hope to see you all next chapter.
