Notes
Hey Reader, this is Worseman here, and here's the fifth chapter of this story. This was originally the third part of the fourth chapter but I decided not to add it to the fourth chapter.
I'm sorry for not publishing a new chapter in this story because I'm a little busy with my life just like everyone does.
My writing skill is still as lacking and rusty as ever and I hoped that this chapter would be both readable and interesting. Some parts of this chapter might have problems from what I thought although I did check multiple times. I will decide to rewrite this chapter or entire chapters if I see any problem within this story.
This chapter will be focusing on both the Private Detective and Office Stuff of the Gruidae Agency except their president which I'm going to put here even though his name was revealed in the past chapter. I will also introduce some characters who may or may not have an impact on this story. This will show them during the nighttime after their busy day. Genki's real last name will be revealed in this chapter too.
If you spot any grammar errors or spelling in this story, I will try my best to improve my story.
Disclaimer
I did not own any characters from Mahoka Kouko no Rettousei series except my OC.
"I wouldn't be surprised at your situation because you always caused some trouble sometimes whether you're a detective, students, or anyone."
"You already know I don't promise I would behave like a student including my attitude."
Kazuhiro was having a phone conversation with Masato outside of the public morals committee in the hallway while leaning against the wall along with his feet for support. He was in deep trouble making a scene in the afternoon. He admitted he caused some ruckus for the recruitment from the school's clubs and became a center of attention although it was mostly about Tatsuya because of the previous event. Nonetheless, he has, fortunately, been let off the hook from being disciplined due to helping Kanon and a badly injured student along with a few witnesses.
"I'm surprised that you finally admitted some fault to your attitude?"
"You know me better than anyone else."
"Ah, make sense," Masato sighed in fatigue after realizing but quickly resumed the conversation, "You're lucky that you didn't get suspended or kicked out from the call from your school, but I would be more worried if I were you."
"I know," Kazuhiro said, knowing the exchange of being released from the discipline. He wondered what the public morals committee was going to do with him. He could guess some of their gullible ideas but they would not dare to do that. "Anything you like to add, Masato?"
"Nothing at all but since you already know that the school has your history, profile, and school record, try to be more careful with your surroundings. You never know what will come," Masato told Kazuhiro.
"Got it and I might be right that the school already has a few students who belong to either hundred families, eighteen assistant houses, or ten master clans beside Chiba and Saegusa."
"Oh god, please. I hope you're wrong about… Wait a minute, did you say 'Chiba'?"
"Yes, and I didn't mention Chiba back in the conversation last week."
"Which Chiba?" Masato asked again.
"I think the youngest girl with red hair," Kazuhiro confirmed Masato's clarification of Erika.
"Ah… I completely forget Toshikazu did mention her sister, Erika, in my conversation with him and Inagaki," Masato said, reminiscing about the conversation at the abandoned factory where he, Kazuhiro, and Daisuke were investigating. He honestly did not listen to Toshikazu talking a little about Erika's enrollment in first high as he was busy recollecting to do his report and work at the agency. He was now given the new information from Kazuhiro, who was somehow purposely not mentioning her before reaching the agency although he did not quite ask him about meeting a new person. "Anyway, when are you reaching home?"
Kazuhiro raised his eyebrow and asked, "Why?"
"That's because I invited the guest to our dinner for a conversation but if you're feeling uncomfortable, you can buy your food," Explained Masato.
Kazuhiro does not remember the last time Masato invented any known guest, whether it was their friend at the agency or Masato's colleague and friend from his former police officer years. He did accept a few times whenever he either was bored or had something important to do and he tried to have a conversation while listening to them talking about their lives and problems. Since he had nothing to do, he could as well join us for dinner. "I will join you for dinner but no promise."
"Okay and see you at home," replied Masato.
"You too."
Kazuhiro pressed the red button on his phone's screen and shoved it into his right pocket. He moved forward to stand while placing his feet down to the floor before hearing the opening door sound. Mari walked out of the room and turned her head to see Kazuhiro with a little surprise. She thought Kazuhiro walked away because of his attitude and the time she was having in the room but he did not. She was wrong about some parts of him although his attitude could change a little.
"So… Anything will happen to me from now on?" asked Kazuhiro.
"The Club Management Group said that three of them are getting suspended due to Kanon's witness along with one badly injured student, and starting from tomorrow for a week, I will be watching you for a time being," Mari replied with full detail.
"Under your authority, isn't it?"
"Yes. Is there a problem with it?"
"No."
"Good because according to Kanon, you started the fight and almost gave them both almost a concussion and broken bone. They were fortunate not to go to the hospital right now even though there's a little bit of serious injury. Do you regret your decision of using violence to stop them?"
"No, I did not because I feel like I want to," Kazuhiro answered honestly, making Mari facepalmreplyinglayJunichiro while shaking her head. Although he was wrong for beating the three students at the open area, he was honestly feeling relieved at stopping their terrible action of bullying even though he was itching to fight.
"Unbelievable. I know that they were on the list of troublesome students for a year but you can't beat them to death for the scene that you don't like," scolded Mari.
"I know."
"I hope that you learn from this, Kazuhiro-Kun," Mari sighed and continued, "I also looked through your middle school records and I found out that you're one year younger than me because of your repeated year at the middle school. I cannot see why you do that?"
Kazuhiro knew what Mari referred to in his middle school years but he honestly does not care about it although he still clearly remembered it. He does not know why she mentioned it as it does not define his identity. "Honestly, I don't care about it in my middle school years because it was just in the past."
An awkward silence appeared between them as they had nothing to say to continue the conversation but until Mari sighed and spoke."If you're feeling uncomfortable in this conversation, I'll stop."
Seeing Mari stopping the conversation, Kazuhiro cannot blame her that it does not get anywhere to be continued. "Okay… So, can I leave, Watanabe-Sensei?"
Mari nodded at Kazuhiro and he walked away in the direction away from her. When he was out of her sight, she breathed out in tiredness loudly as she had enough dealing with much troublesome work especially him. She admitted that he was more or less tough to deal with but since looking at his middle school record, she cannot blame him for causing the incident. Nevertheless, she was going to supervise him for tomorrow to keep him in check and pried that she would receive less paperwork to do although she had Tatsuya to do hers.
Night
Tsuyoshi Household
"I'm sorry that Kazuhiro was going to be late for our dinner."
"No worry, but I'm surprised to see and hear that Kazuhiro is a student in my workplace."
"I guess that the world is too big for us to notice each other, especially our friend, Haruka."
Masato placed two omelet rice plates on the table filled with three bowls of miso soup and side dishes. He turned around to see a beautiful woman with brown hair and brown eyes walking out of the kitchen with another omelet rice in her hands. She was dressed in a yellow sweater shirt and jean pants. She placed it on the table as well.
"How long has it been since I last visited your home?" asked Haruka.
"December, I think," Masato replied with an uncertain smile.
"Well, it doesn't matter because you sometimes visit me after my work shift to have a simple conversation. I don't know why you do that, Masato?"
"That's because we've been best friends since middle school."
Masato and Haruka were always best friends ever since middle school. He first met her in their classroom in their first year and they quickly got along very well which made some of their male acquaintances and friends jealous. Some may see them as a couple which they embarrassedly denied. However, unknown to her, she was also revealed to be his crush. He knew how to talk with her as a friend except as a couple because he had some terrible moments in his many previous dates before he realized his feelings for her the previous year. He honestly does not want to ask her out yet because he felt that it was not the right time.
"I didn't seem to see Kazuhiro in person at school due to my busy work. Is he avoiding me because I'm a nuisance to him?" Haruka asked worriedly as she thought that her presence was very annoying to Kazuhiro.
"I don't think so, Haruka. He does not hate you at all," Masato assured, making Haruka sigh in relief, "Although he found you as an 'overbearing joyful helper'."
"Was it his compliment or mockery?"
"Probably both."
The sound of the front door suddenly opened and swung forward to reveal Kazuhiro. He squatted down with his knee on the floor and began to untie his shoelaces on both shoes. After untying, he picked them up and opened the cabinet to put them inside. He then walked to the living room to see Masato and Haruka and he was not surprised to see her here.
"Welcome home, Kaz," Masato greeted.
"It's nice to see you here, Kazuhiro," Haruka greeted with a smile.
"You too, Haruka," Kazuhiro greeted Haruka back with a little bow.
"Wash up later, Kazuhiro, because we should eat it now before it gets cold," Masato told Kazuhiro, pointing at the food on the table.
"Okay, but give me a minute to place my thing back in my room," Kazuhiro said as he walked to his room.
Masato nodded, granting Kazuhiro to go to his room so he and Haruka quickly went to their chair to sit to wait patiently for him to join. While waiting, they began another new conversation.
"I'm glad to see Kazuhiro in person but I guess he never changed even though there was some improvement in his behavior."
"You tell me, Haruka. You first met him when I invited you to my house and your first reaction was a little funny by him calling you that name as a kid," Masato replied, mentioning a little part of her history of meeting with Kazuhiro.
"Hey! Don't bring that up and it was embarrassing!" Haruka raised her voice with a faint redness on her cheeks while trying to calm down. She wanted to forget the horrible nickname given by Kazuhiro because it was associated with her appearance; mainly her breasts.
"Sorry, it was pretty fun even though I was in the same boat as you for feeling flushed," Masato chuckled with his hand rubbing the back of his hair, feeling embarrassed.
Haruka sighed, "At least, he doesn't call me that no longer because he was not a kid anymore."
"What were you saying, large burst lady?"
Haruka's body tensed at her nickname. She turned to see Kazuhiro walking towards the table and her eyes followed him to his chair. She turned her head back and glared at Masato with her puffed cheek. Masato lightly laughs uncomfortably while his eyes look at Kazuhiro with his little smirk.
'Damnit, Kaz,' Masato thought, glaring at the shrugging Kazuhiro.
Night
Takaya Household
Daisuke yawned loudly as he was extremely tired from doing schoolwork, learning multiple subjects, and helping the student council on the recruitment week. He did not know how heretical the document could get and he might have sunk into his slumber under its piles if not for Suzune's help. Ironically, he was supposed to help her but instead, he needed her help.
'What a long day,' Daisuke thought as he looked up to the ceiling for a moment of peace in his mind. He should sleep right now because the next day would be more or less troublesome.
However, Daisuke's phone rang loudly to interrupt his trance and his eyes moved to look at it on the table. He reached his hand out to grab it. He tapped twice on its screen and saw a single message sent by an unexpectedly Mikuyki. He was caught by surprise that he received from her out of all the people and curious to know why she messaged him. He unlocked his lock screen and tapped on the messaging app to see her message. As he did it, he began to look through.
MIYUKI: Daisuke, sorry to message you all of a sudden, but I need your copied notes from our lesson in the morning because my notes were corrupted and I cannot open them.
Daisuke raised his eyebrow in confusion because Miyuki had Tatsuya with her to ask for his help to fix the corrupted data so he typed his message to her.
DAISUKE: Why not ask your brother to fix it? It would be fast for you to do that because he's smart.
After a few moments, Miyuki's message popped up.
MIYUKI: I understand, but my brother was busy so I don't want to disturb him. I know it's too selfish but please, can you help me?
Daisuke sighed and shook his head in amusement at Miyuki's self-consciousness about Tatsuya's space. She did care about him although it was too much that she was becoming a brother complex or she already became one. He shivers at his sudden image of her being extremely angry for her brother to be taken away in his mind. Nevertheless, he was going to help her.
DAISUKE: Alright, I will send you my copied note later.
MIYUKI: Thank you, Daisuke.
Daisuke breathed out in weariness that he had to send his copy to Miyuki right now for tomorrow's school. His mouth however formed a small smile, indicating that he was glad to help her but he wondered if his copied school notes were reliable to understand for her due to his writing and way of words. He hoped that Miyuki would not freeze him in anger for that.
Night
Inkling World, Shibuya, Tokyo
Inkling World was a store that sold every kind of stationery such as a pen, pencil, eraser, or blank writing book. It was a perfect place for the attraction of every kind of customer to buy it because of the Shibuya location filled with many people from their work and school. Although many people use digital programs for writing easily, some prefer handwriting due to their phobia of losing their saved data.
While walking through the section, Genki scanned around every displayed stationary on the shelves to find something among them being useful because he was doing it for his younger step-sister. His father had remarried during his second year at the normal high school because his mother had succumbed to her cancer illness three years before his remarrying. He now had three siblings: An older step-sister and a younger step-brother and a step-sister. His stepmother was honestly annoying as she was carefree even though she was well-mannered if she wanted to. His older step-sister was a professor at the normal university while his younger step-brother and step-sister were the students of non-magic high school but their years were different; one in first years and the other in third years. However, he lived alone but frequently visited them daily.
Genki remembered that his younger step-sister demanded a specific stationery that he used all the time: a blank notebook because she felt that she needed to take down some important point from her lesson which he should not disagree with. He wondered why she needed it. Was it because she was having trouble understanding her weak subject or did she simply wants to impress her friend and classmate?
Genki reached the notebook section and began to look around to find a suitable one for his younger step-sister. He carefully scanned every notebook on the shelves because he was trying to choose its appearance that might encourage her to write down. It was difficult to choose because he did not know which would appeal to her until something caught his interest. His hand raised and reached the specific notebook. He grabbed it and brought it from the shelves. A logo design that looked like a pencil writing leaving a trace and the 'notebook' written in kanji below the logo on a light pink color front cover. He felt that it could be one for her so he quickly decided to buy it. He turned around to walk to the cashier but suddenly, he was bumped by someone.
"Gah?!"
Genki staggered back a little and looked at someone who bumped into him; a young girl dressed in an open black hoodie jacket with a red T-shirt, black short pants, and white track shoes. Her black front hair was curly but her back hair was tied into a ponytail. She also looked at him too but both were in shock as if they recognized each other.
"Kanetsuga-Sensei," The girl called Genki's real last name is an honorific.
"Kana-San," Genki called the girl's first name back. "And stop calling me Sensei."
Genki was a mathematics instructor at Kana's high school and he worked twice a week to teach those who had failed their grade on math like Kana after school. Some of Kana's friends, classmates, schoolmates, and school teachers were honestly terrified of him, due to his strict attitude and his aura that scared the delinquent ones to death. No one ever complained or argued with him for his way of teaching because it did help the students to move up their match grade. However, he later quitlayJunichiro and dropped out of his university to dedicate himself full-time to the Agency.
"Sorry, Genki-San, but what are you doing here?" asked Kana.
"I'm buying it for my step-sibling. Are you here to buy stationery for yourself?" Genki replied and later asked in return.
"No, Genki-San, I'm just looking around the store to see if I want to buy something," Kana answered as she turned around to look at the various notebooks on the shelves.
"Having stress in your university life?"
Kana nodded, "I honestly need some stress relief to look around but if you think I'm stealing from this store, I'm not."
"Don't be absurd, Kana-San. I would never think that because you're a proper young woman who knows right and wrong," Genki assured Kana with his strict tone.
"Jeez, you're still the same," Kana mumbled with irritation, still looking at the shelves.
"What are you saying?" Genki asked, looking with his soft glare at Kana who suddenly sniffled a little.
"Nothing," Kana replied a little aloud, shaking her head vigorously in fear.
Sighing, Genki was not amused at Kana's action but he ignored her because he was not his sensei anymore to scold her. He turned to look at the shelves and saw another specific notebook that caught his eyes. He reached his hand without hesitation and grabbed it. Kana noticed him taking it and before she was going to ask, he told her, "I will buy it for you, Kana-San."
"Really?" Kana asked in shock.
"Yes, you probably need it for your university."
"Yeah, but…"
"I will be honest; You might have no space to write down in your original notebook so you need one in the future. I will pay for mine and yours."
Kana was speechless that Genki was willing to buy for her even though she does not need the notebook anytime but if it was him, she saw no point in stopping him since he was his former sensei. She was honestly content with him paying it for her until he heard his voice calling her.
"Kana-San, are you coming or not?"
Kana snapped out of her daze and looked at Genki who was a few feet away from her while looking back at her. She became a little embarrassed of herself being distracted but quickly jogged to him while replying a little loud, "Coming!"
Night
Izumi's Household
Feeling refreshed, Izumi stepped out of the bathroom to the hallway and walked to the living room to join her husband. She was feeling a little sore from the paperwork she did provide by Genki and helping to stop the client from bleeding out from her gun wound in the investigation that turned into an accident. She did a remarkable job of taking the bullet out of the client's wound, putting a clean cloth over it, and wrapping around it with the bandage to prevent the bleeding.
Izumi arrived at the living room and began to walk towards the man who was dressed in casual home clothes: a white T-shirt and black pajama pants. She sat beside him and leaned head on his shoulder with a sigh of satisfaction. He did not bulge her at all because he was her husband.
"Having a long and hard time on your job, Izumi?" Izumi's husband asked with his chuckle while focusing on the television program.
"Yes, I was really busy dealing with many noisy and irrational people that I encountered today," Izumi replied honestly.
"Especially Genki?"
"Mhmm, but I did pay him by forcing him to come with me on the job together."
"I kinda think I should feel more sorry for him than you," Izumi's husband joked, given a light punch on his shoulder by Izumi. "I'm just joking."
"Of course you do."
Both Izumi and her husband became silent and focused on watching the television. They were watching a drama series. She felt at peace with her husband in the living room where no one disturbs them and it was nice and quiet. While watching, she remembered the time she first met him at the library during her second year at magic high school and he was five years older than her. She fell at the sight of him because he interacted with her despite his boring appearance. She however snapped out of her thought when she noticed him looking at her with his strange look and felt a little uncomfortable so she asked, "What's wrong, dear?"
"Nothing, Izumi," Izumi's husband replied while placing his hand on her cheek and giving a kiss to her lip.
Izumi was surprised with her widened eyes. She wanted to stop him but his tongue wrestled hers to prevent her from talking but moaning in heat. He stopped and looked at her with his gaze, making her face flush. She was speechless and cannot find a word to question his action because she felt aroused from the kiss.
"Sorry," Izumi's husband apologized while rubbing the back of his black hair in a little embarrassment. "I cannot hold it very much longer."
Izumi sighed in a little disappointment while shaking her head. She grabbed a remote on the table in front of them and switched the television off. She turned to face her husband and smiled. "You're the worst."
"I know," Izumi's husband replied with a smile as he continued to kiss her while slowly pushing her to lay down on the couch.
Izumi would let her husband off as she loved him but she knew that she would get her entire body aching from their mating. Nevertheless, she would not care about it.
Night
Unknown Place, Tokyo
Slurping loudly, Kirka cannot get enough of the ramen because of the place she was eating at which was recommended by her friend from outside work. The soup broth was delicious and the noodles tasted chewy. She was not alone to eat because she did bring her few friends, consisting of three people, from the Agency.
A young boy with orange hair and green eyes dressed in a white and red jacket, light blue pants, and brown sneakers. He had a back T-shirt underneath his jacket.
A young girl wore a wax cotton jacket with her black Tank Top inside, denim shorts, and black knee-high boots with black high socks. The back of her black hair was tied into a low bun and a few parts of her hair were dyed dark green. She also wore her rounded spectacle glasses and a silver headphone hung over her neck.
A young teenage girl had black hip-length and wavy hair that was styled in a side-swept hime cut and black eyes. She wore a v-neck and long-sleeved white T-shirt, a black skirt that reached to her knee, and black shoes.
"Thanks for inviting us, Kirka," A black hair girl thanked Kirka happily.
"There's no need to thank me," Kirka replied with a smile, "It is my friend who recommended me, Namiko."
"Still, it's one of the best few ramens that I ever ate," The glasses girl said while chewing her Raman.
"Stop talking while eating your food at the same time, Fumiko " The boy lightly scolded the glasses girl, Fumiko, but earned a glare from her.
"Shut up, you're not my mum," Fumiko retorted lightly and went back to eating.
"Now, now. Don't fight in public because you two are going to get us into trouble, Fumiko and Jinichirou," Kirka calmed while calling Fumiko and the boy their names. She would not want them to be kicked out of the restaurant because according to her outside friend, they harshly threw the customers out for fighting whether it was verbally, physically, or both. The owner was rumored to be a former yakuza boss.
"Sorry," Both Fumiko and Jinichirou apologized.
"Anyway, I was hoping that almost everyone in our agency would be here to have dinner with us," Namiko said, looking around the area filled with few customers with slight disappointment.
"Well, everyone has their things to do like Kaz and Daisuke probably have homework, Genki went to buy something for his family, Masato was probably with Kaz because they lived together, and for Izumi, I think she slacked off," Jinichirou explained to Namiko firmly.
"What about our boss and Sora, Big brother?" Namiko asked with curiosity about the president of the agency and Sora.
"I'm not sure about that but they're the same with everyone else," Jinichirou replied with a shrug.
"By the way, Jinichirou," Fumiko interrupted, "Is your CAD system malfunctioning?"
"Not exactly, Fumiko. It works perfectly fine," Jinichirou replied, showing his bracelet-shaped CAD on his arm to Fumiko.
"You should bring your CAD to me for examination tomorrow so I can fix it until it is finished," Fumiko instructed Jinichirou, ignoring his reply.
"...Alright," Jinichirou agreed without hesitation, feeling dismal. He knew Fumiko's attitude when it came to CAD and she was always persistent to ask anyone for their CAD maintenance until they gave in because she was the agency's engineer.
"Jeez, Big brother, way to go for running our dinner," Namiko said, annoyed towards Jinichirou.
"Sorry," apologized Jinichirou.
Kirka giggled, "Let's hurry up to enjoy our ramen before it gets cold."
Night
Unknown Location, Ginza, Tokyo
Smooth jazz music emitted out of the loudspeaker and created a moderate and tranquil atmosphere in the bar. No one has ever visited this place but only those who wanted to reflect their mind, forget their problem life situation or relive their memories. Four to five customers were now in their world while drinking away and among them was Sora.
Sora was sitting at the counter where the bartender was. He drank a glass cup of whisky in his hand and placed it on the counter. He remained silent as he was revisiting a part of his memory of the time before he joined the Agency. He felt nostalgic from remembering both happy and sad times and smiled a little with delight and bitterness. He looked up and saw the bartender who was revealed to be a man in his fifties wearing a crimson vest. He began to speak to him, "Hey bartender. Can you refill my cup?"
"Sure."
The bartender looked down under the counter where the various alcohol was and reached his hand to grab the whiskey bottle. He took it out and poured it over Sora's cup. While he was pouring, he asked firmly, "Having a tough time?"
"No, I just want to be here to have a nice and quiet drink," Sora replied sheepishly.
"You're always the same as the fool you were from last time."
"Tell me about it, Bartender. I couldn't help myself but love being myself all the time. Flirt with many women who are eye candy or not to me that I'm interested in."
As the bartender finished pouring over, he asked another question, "Do you still live in your past?"
Sora became quiet at the bartender's questions but he quickly answered with his both usual self and bitter smile, "No, I'm living in the present towards the future all thanks to my friends."
The bartender chuckled lightly, "I hope you continued in your life, Mister."
"I'm sure I will," replied Sora.
Sora finished the short conversation with the bartender and went back to drink while the bartender also went back to clean the glass cup with a clean cloth.
Night
Tsuyoshi Household
"I'm not surprised that Kaz got into trouble for fighting with the students on the second day of recruitment week because it happened all the time."
"Tell me about it. He is lucky not to be kicked out of the school but he is now under watch by the committee for a week from what he told me."
"That's going to be rough and annoying for him, to be honest."
Masato and Haruka were having a conversation while washing the dirty plates with a sponge and soap. Masato was glad that the dinner went smoothly as Kazuhiro did not unexpectedly disrupt it even though he did tell him and Haruka about his trouble. Kazuhiro was honestly a little annoyed to be in the conversation between themselves but he was a good listener and able to socialize with her just like last time between him and her when he was a second-year student of his middle school.
"I've been wondering if you are doing okay at the Gruidae Agency ever since you quit the police force?" Asked Haruka.
"I'm doing quite fine even though the agency was a little chaotic," Masato replied as he placed the cleaned plate on the disk rack.
"How chaotic was the agency?"
"Still the same as Sora being punched, kicked, or both by Genki."
"You mean the spectacle guy shaking the filthy guy violently for being not professional?" Haruka guessed with her thought of the certain event which slowly became forgotten in her mind.
"Yep, and I'm sorry again for that," Masato apologized, making Haruka roll her eyes in annoyance.
"Don't be because it was somehow weird and fun to go with you and your friend," Haruka said honestly with her smile.
"Thank goodness that you are still the same as always," Masato smiled back to Haruka, making her flush. "By the way, you're now the school counselor and not an investigator anymore?"
"No, I'm still the investigator for the Public Safety Department but I'm passionate about counseling so I'm a part-time investigator and full-time counselor," Haruka replied firmly and confidently.
"Don't you think that that's a bit too much for you to handle?"
"Come on, Masato, you think I'm a damsel in distress?"
"No, but you can become frustrated and quick to hold a grudge against someone if your assignment went wrong because of your pride in the investigator," Masato said, referring to her role as the investigator.
"You're such a meanie asshole," Haruka retorted as she punched Masato's shoulder.
"Sorry," Masato apologized as she rubbed the spot on his shoulder where Haruka punched. He should keep himself quiet as his word was very brutal and honest when it came to anyone's job related to law enforcement and police.
Sighed, Haruka believed Masato was right about some error point in her way of doing as the investigator. She needed to change her way to improve herself to be more professional but at the same time, less prideful. It could take a long time to change herself; probably three months or a year. She continued their conversation with her sigh, "It's a shame for me not to be able to counsel Kaz because he was in a different class."
"It can't be helped but Kaz will be fine on his own," replied Masato.
"If you say so since you know him better than I do."
"Feeling disappointed?"
"A little."
The sound of the closing door was heard, making Masato and Haruka turn behind to see the hallway. There was no one in there but they believed it was Kazuhiro who had just come out of the bathroom and walked to his bedroom.
"I guess he probably went straight to sleep since today was a little too much for him. I think it's because of my cooking," Masato said comfortably.
"I don't think so, Masato. Maybe it is because of our talking," Haruka replied, believing their conversation made Kazuhiro bored to death.
"Either way, we should let him sleep as much as he wants to."
Both Masato and Haruka turned back to the sink and continued to wash the dirty plates. Since they had nothing left to continue the conversation, they became quiet, focusing on washing while the running tap water sounded. While they were washing, their thoughts simultaneously spoke out loudly in their mind.
'This is awkward.'
[~~~~~]
Kazuhiro's room was in darkness due to the ceiling light being switched off and he wore nothing except his blue button boxer pants. His whole back body lay on his bed and his head rested on his pillow. He looked up to the ceiling to reflect for himself while waiting for himself to fall asleep. He was in his full thoughts the whole day. He remembered the talk with Shizuku, his fight with several course one students, being warned and scolded by Mari, and many more. He honestly felt both pleasant and terrible that it went up and down smoothly. He wondered if tomorrow would be affected since Mari was going to supervise him alone but it could damage her pride as chief of the public morals committee because she was the third-year course one student, while he was the first-year course two student.
Feeling drowsy, Kazuhiro stopped his thought and slowly shut his eyes until closed. His body began to loosen down and his nose breathed in and out as he gave in to his sleep. Before his sleep, he thought of one thing: Tomorrow was going to be the same as always.
