Chapter 2
Note: Enjoy. PS. I am not a doctor, all the prescriptions or methods used are made up since I have no knowledge about it for most of the stuff. Thank you Nyota Malfoy who so far betaed some chaps. Bad words!
Some would say that Vulcans don't have emotions, but for Jim Kirk, it was the opposite. At least when they were alone. On the bridge, both were professional, focused on the task assigned. But when they were in their shared quarters, Jim could see the loving side of Spock. Kisses, cuddling, embraces, sex, everything a person would want from his/her partner. Often making Doctor Leonard McCoy grunt at them for their stolen kisses after a mission gone wrong which sent Kirk to the sickbay. With a very, very, possessive and worried Vulcan trailing behind him. Although, Spock's mantra, every single time, would be, "Vulcans do not get worried, doctor." While every other person in the sickbay would say the contrary. They had witnessed first-hand how the first officer could become when the captain had been injured or ill in the sickbay. They had experienced Spock growling at them sometimes when the injuries were bad enough to leave Kirk unconscious for too long, which was mostly a maximum of one hour. This one was no exception.
The mission was quite simple. A second meeting of a race, to give and to take supplies after they signed the alliance with the Federation. Nothing much to do, just some exploration. They only inspected some flora that was interesting enough to be studied to collect. So, Spock concurred to let the captain lead the landing party. The said party consisted of Jim, 3 scientists from Spock's department and 4 red shirts as security for them all.
But, as it usually happens to the crew, on every single planetary excursion, there was always something against the alliance that had just been created. So, it wasn't a surprise that something went wrong. All of them were ambushed; the scientists were bruised and battered, the red shirts were injured and limping, and the captain was much worse off than all of them. He was shot in the back, protecting a young ensign. After Lt. Giotto, a member of the landing party, called for an emergency beam out and for the medical crew to be ready. Both Spock and Bones thought they knew what to expect, they expected Jim to be whining, been hit on the head, probably bleeding all over the floor, and still complaining, per usual. They didn't think anything worse could have happened. The image that they saw in front of them, though, was almost paralysing. 3 red shirts were around the inner group, each of them sustaining injury. The 3 scientists were petrified in the middle, while Lt. Giotto was in front of them, on his knees, turned away from them. The only person on the floor was Jim, and that single sight terrified everyone. Kirk, most of the time, would come back injured, but never had he fallen unconscious due to his high tolerance for pain. He was completely knocked out this time, which meant it was bad.
"Ah, shit. Everybody, move!" Bones said while running to Jim, tricorder ready in his hand. Giotto was pressing the captain's shoulder, blood seeping through his hands and soaking the yellow shirt Kirk wore. Just looking at Jim sent shivers down Spock's spine. He tried to comfort Jim through their mental bond but failed. His anxiety was skyrocketing.
"What went wrong on the planet, Lt?" He inquired.
"The captain jumped in front of Dr. Linaes when a group of rebels started firing at us. It was almost like a phaser shot from what we could gather, but unlike ours, they don't cauterize the wound. When he fell, he probably hit his head," Giotto replied.
Bones meanwhile was muttering any and all types of obscenity, studying the lying form of the young man.
"Chapel, did you get the Jim friendly med kit?" He asked his Head nurse. "Give me 10 ml of Certrazine and bring the stretcher, quick!" When he got the hypo spray, he injected Jim, hoping to stop the bleeding. "On three, let's move him to the stretcher. One, two, three!" They moved the Jim onto it and started walking to the sickbay, followed by the other medics and injured parties, and a worried Spock.
