Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Holographic Heroes. Enjoy the 1600-word chapter. I don't own Red vs Blue; Monty and a few others do.
The Director cursed as he looked at CT stabbing one of his soldiers. There was at least a dozen of them left in the hallway, either dead or wounded heavily. He turned to look at the councilor who had 3 bullet wounds in his body, 2 in his ribs and another tracing the back of his neck. The director was surprised the man wasn't dead, but he guessed that was just luck.
And medical tape, he had done when it came down to it. He was quite curious when it came down to it.
"It would appear that Agent Connecticut would no longer be one of our assets." The Councilor added as the Director turned to look at Carolina and the others. "I'll allow you to brief the others." The Councilor said, crossing his arms behind his back.
"Agents? Around midnight, Agent Connecticut decided on turning rouge." The director stated, his tone one of anger and annoyance. "She broke into the AI storage room where we had put an experimental Artificial Intelligence." The director added, gaining looks from his agents.
He and the councilor could read them like an open book. South Dakota looked around the room, balling up her fists constantly, obviously questioning if this was a chance to redeem himself… North was unfazed, his clear gaze at the director told him that he was focused on the mission coming up.
"Connecticut went rouge?" Washington questioned, turning the director's gaze to him, Carolina, and Texas. "Why? Did she decide to run off to the resistance?" Washington asked, his hands constantly balling into fists.
"No, the tracker on her Pelican doesn't point to resistance-controlled space." The director responded, adjusting his glasses to the bridge of his nose. "What we do know is her rampage across The Mother of Invention left at the very least 12 soldiers dead or wounded. Agent Carolina attempted to stop her, only for Connecticut to leave a hologram, her armor's enhancement… Agent Carolina?" The director asked as Carolina looked at the ground.
"Connecticut managed to slip by me to the hanger." Carolina responded, gaining more looks from the agents. "Agent Massachusetts, the other agent up, along with one of our self-proclaimed 'trackers'? Pursed Connecticut into open space. I left to inform the director in the meantime." Carolina added to which the others blinked under their helmets.
"You are sure it was Agent Massachusetts who pursued Agent Connecticut?" The Director questioned as he shook his head and looked around. "Hmm. And why has Agent Massachusetts gone radio silent since then?" The Director questioned, raising his left eyebrow when it comes down to it.
He was quite curious when it down. He knew for a fact that there wasn't plenty of work at the moment, they needed to make more work when it came down to it.
"You know how much Massachusetts likes to focus on the assignment, sir." Carolina responded which garnered a sigh from the man a few seconds later. "We have much more work to do, we have a rogue agent when it came down to it." Carolina stated, cracking a smirk as she was curious.
(With Connecticut)
Connecticut looked around, her magnum at the ready as she peaked out from cover. She cursed as a knife sailed by her head, impaling itself into a rock as she turned and ran into the rock formations.
"Damn it!" Connecticut cursed under her breath as she continued running into the rock formations around her.
She knew that he was going to find her. He had found her in space, it was quite surprising… But then again? This was what he was good at, tracking someone or something Project Freelancer needed. That object now would be her armor and her, something not lost on her at all.
"Where is she?" Massachusetts said while he paused to think. "You're not going to be able to hide. Come on out, this isn't going to end well." Massachusetts added, resting his rifle against the stone as he did so.
He was interested in why she would do something like this. There was little to gain if she got caught, which he did, making her sacrifices pointless now.
"Ugh, why are you so annoying? Just give up." Massachusetts said as Connie turned and rushed the sniper.
The first shot almost cut through her leg, she rolled behind cover, watching as the soldier looked at her.
She knew Massachusetts well enough, a goofball at times who liked to crack jokes. He was a decent enough assassin and fighter.
"Seriously, you brought a knife a gunfight, why?" Massachusetts questioned as Connie let loose a hologram.
It lasted long enough to take a bullet which allowed Connie to close the distance with Massachusetts. She drew her knife only for him to dodge it, hidden thrusters in his armor. She brought up her right knee which he blocked, drawing his magnum as he did so.
"As I asked, knives, seriously?" Massachusetts questioned as he and the former freelancer started their fight. "I've never got why people think knives are badass. Getting shot isn't badass." Massachusetts added, lining up a punch which Connie deflected last second.
Connie slashed at Massachusetts who proceeded to deflect it, firing his gun which Connie forced into the sky. She spun into a kick which Massachusetts caught. Connie brought up her other foot, kicking him to the ground, his magnum sliding across the stone floor.
"C'mon, Marty, don't do this." Connie said as Massachusetts picked himself up.
"Ok… Now you're ticking me off." Massachusetts said as he activated his armor enhancement again.
Connie watched Massachusetts rocket towards her, throwing the duo down the rocky cliffside, both landed in a crouch.
"If you're this good, how come you weren't on the leaderboard?" Massachusetts said as he groaned in pain, pausing to collect himself a second later.
"You're not on it either, ever think about that?" Connie asked as she flipped to her feet, staring at Massachusetts.
He knew that she was dangerous, she kept her knife as Massachusetts balled up his hands into fists.
"I'm not the one who stole, so technically? You're a rebel." Massachusetts added, pointing an armored finger at her. "Also? So? I heard you hate it, that why you went rouge? Because your jealous? Because your mad? That fancy chip you stole seems pretty expensive. Could have made a fortune selling it to the rebels." Massachusetts said, rushing towards Connie and kicking in his thrusters as he did so.
He almost landed a dropkick only for her to block it as he turned, flying into the air and towards his rifle. Connie brought up her magnum and fired, forcing Massachusetts to land as he dodged the bullet. He scooped up his DMR as the two freelancers held up their weapons.
"You've always been seen as the joke of the leaderboard." Connie said as Massachusetts looked through his scope at her. "I know people crack jokes about you, one of the only agents without an AI." Connie added to which he snorted in response.
"That why you stole one of the fancy toys?" Massachusetts questioned, his voice deadly calm. "You acted like we've talked before; we've barely talked twice. You're the traitor, why should I trust anything you say? There's plenty of backup coming, and I know you're not as good as them." Massachusetts stated to which he shook his head.
"And then what? You expect them to thank you for distracting a traitor?" Connie questioned, holding both her knife and magnum at the ready. "They won't, because they don't care for you when it comes down to it." Connie stated to which Massachusetts said, shaking his head as he did so.
"And you do? Give me a break." Massachusetts stated while he started to pull the trigger, ready to shoot. "You break into the labs, kill a bunch of soldiers, then run off from us? You want me to look at all that and say you're the good guy? You know how childish that sounds?" Massachusetts added, thumbing the trigger.
"And how many of them know your name is Matty? How many of them care to remember that, huh?" Connie questioned, slowly putting one foot in front of the other. "Or that you tell crappy jokes because you want people to like you. I know your good at brawling better than shooting." Connie put in, slowly continuing her stride.
Massachusetts let out a sigh, gazing through his visor at her. Connie watched as he slowly but surely lowered his rifle, not holstering it, but laying the weapon parallel to the ground.
"You have one minute." Massachusetts responded, not taking his finger off the trigger. "You kill a bunch of our guys, you steal important gear, you run off… You know, for someone who wants to be soon as the good guy? You do a LOT of shady crap." Massachusetts added to which Connie sighed.
'None of them are going to agree the director is the enemy…. And Charon will keep hunting me for the data.' Connie thought before the sound of gunfire forced them to look up.
Author Notes
Phew. Another chapter done! I want to point out that since Connie was barely in the show and didn't get to do much? She and Massachusetts will be the main focus here. Next chapter will be in 2-10 months and will show the hostiles engaging Massachusetts and Connie and more of their history together and such. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
